The driver turned on the ignition, then asks,
Driver: you go reach Ugbo Odogwu?
Me: No, I go drop for step
Other Passengers: (almost in unison) Ha, na our area. So all us go just come down there)
Driver: Okay na, bring money now, I no wan delay for that place, you know say e don late.
Me: Okay, (hands him to the money)

My second suspicion;

Ehhn, why driver come dey ask if I go reach Ogbo Odogwu, normally na if I reach where I dey stop I go tell am na, why him first dey ask?

Okay na, all the passengers wey first me enter go all drop at step, why him no collect their money na? Na only me him see.

Why the famzing, all the passengers just dey claim say Golf na their area with this Kain "Kai Kai " smell? With all these their low life look? (Not offence intended Sha, just thinking to my self)

Alighted from the bus and boarded a tricycle (Keke) at new Market bound for Ugbo-Odogwu.

The place is usually deserted at by this time and no Keke is site.

Walked over a tricycle with 3 occupants and and the driver making a total of 4 persons.

I was downcast as we were two ( I was in company of my neighbor).
Well, I told the guy that we were too and but the passengers all chorused "no problem" almost in unison.

The three passengers all alighted, one went to sit at the front, the second went to "hang" the at the driver's left side, the third person came down and never entered back, leaving only my neighbor and I to the back seat.

That's where my first suspicion started!

All the already seated passengers left the comfortable part of the Keke they sat just for you and your friend to be comfortable?
My brother something is not right!

NB: THE WAREHOUSE IS LOCATED ALONG OKPARA AVENUE, ENUGU WHILE I LIVE AT GOLF ESTATE, GRA. THERE IS NO DIRECT PUBLIC TRANSIT FROM OKPARA AVENUE TO GOLF ESTATE EXCEPT YOU TAKE "KEKE DROP" BUT ITS TOO COSTLY (1K TO AND FRO), SO I PLY OLD PARK-NEW MARKET AND FROM NEW MARKET-OGBO ODOGWU (ALIGHT AT "STEP", TO AND FRO IS 2H) AND STROLL INTO MY STREET IN THE ESTATE.

My ex employer fired her warehouse attendant on Saturday, 21st September. She needed someone to take over till she finds a suitable replacement.

She called me me and I obliged. So since then I've been going to the warehouse everyday. Due to the nature of the work ( overseeing offloading and onloading, supply, and reconciliation of acct at the end of each day), I usually come home late (around 8-10pm).

I live in the same street with her so she do drop me off sometimes. I usually go home with public transit any day she goes home earlier (she has kids to attend to), while going home, I branch at her place to drop off some cash realised from the days sales ( three stores).

Today was quite the most stressful day I have had since the temporary take over ( offloading, several supplies, a new attendant to put through things, and finally reconciling acct for the day.)

Closed by 9:15pm, boarded a bus from Old Park to New Market.

Properties / 'Mama Put' Causes Fire Outbreak In Enugu Park, Bus Burnt (Photos, Video) by Apeshy101(m): 12:23pm On Oct 07, 2019
There was fire outbreak in a bus park belonging to Sunny Bright Mass Transit located Opposite Ogbete Main Market in Enugu.

News9naija present at the scene, gathered that the fire outbreak started from an open flame of a cooking stand (popular called mama put) in the Park.

All efforts made to extinguish the fire failed as fire extinguishers were out of sight.

Although some brave boys present at the scene made efforts to put out the flame, theor efforts yielded no results as the bus was razed to ashes.

Other buses were quickly driven out of the park.

Passengers we're about boarding the bus before it got engulfed in flames. Only luggages and the Toyota hiace bus were destroyed.
Modified: A street urchin tried to use the rowdy nature of the park to steal.
Upon being accustomed, he ran into Ifesinachi Plaza but was caught and beaten.

Quick intervention of the police saved him from being lynched by irate mob.

For the sake of brevity, read here

Is the Southeast prepared for the Presidency?

The Presidency is still a long way to go. But the race to occupy the position of the President started immediately after the last election. The emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will define the way in 2023. But being that as it may, I believe at the moment, the Southeast is not politically strong enough to produce the President in 2023. And that is my honest disposition. Some people may criticize this, saying what is this Ibo man saying? But as a politician and someone that has come of age, I know that we need a strong political party structure and national outreach. You need other factors like finance and others to get to that exalted office. You need enough handshakes across the regions. The Yoruba are better positioned than the Igbo. If you look at the government of today, I will say the Yoruba are controlling more than 40 per cent in the structure of governance, where you have a Vice President that is from the Southwest. You have a speaker of the House of Representatives that is from the Southwest. Out of the four high offices, they have two from the same zone. Even the north does not have it that way because the President is from the Northwest and the Senate President is from Northeast. In the north, the portfolio is divided among the zones in the north. In the south, a lot of power is concentrated in the Southwest because of the judgment of my political party the APC. Simply, what you give is what you get. That is if you give much, you will also get much in return. That is what the Southwest is enjoying. Now, how do you place the Southeast in this calculation? They are nowhere to be found. The highest position the Southeast is occupying, is at the National Assembly. That is the Chief whip, a party position and not a national position. The Chief Whip of the Senate represents mainly the APC senators. It does not have overwhelming control of the PDP senators. The occupant can only negotiate, so the Southeast is nowhere to be found in this equation at the moment. So, for the Southeast to jump the bottle neck, to emerge in 2023, it will be difficult. The PDP can still rely on the north. They know that if they break from the north and give the Presidential candidate to another zone, PDP will problem. So in 2023, PDP will still go back to zoning its Presidential candidate to the north. But for the APC, the fight is between the North and the Southwest for the President.

Former Abia State All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Ndukwe Iko, in this interview with Musa Odoshimokhe explains why the Southwest is well prepared for the presidency in 2023 than the Southeast and how the party will retain Abia North Senatorial District. Excerpts

When the election of Orji Uzor Kalu was annulled at the tribunal, what was your reaction?

When the election was announced, I knew that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mao Ohuabunwa will go to court. I was in the collation room during the election, I spoke with him and I knew he was heading to court. After the March election, I have not spoken with Orji Kalu and have not been to Abuja. But I knew that a court process is on and anything can happen. However, that does not remove the fact that the APC in Abia north is strong. We knew there will be a court ruling; we knew we have a legitimate victory that will stand the test of all the challenges. At the end of it, the APC will triumph because we were in the field and we can tell you what happened in the field. If at the appeal court and we still have to go for a re-run, Kalu will trash Ohuabunwa even with wider margin.

What gives you that confidence?

What gives me confidence is that before the election, we were having trouble in the camp of Orji Uzor Kalu. We had trouble in some of the local governments that formed Abia North. Abia North has five local governments. They are Umunneochi, Isikwuato, Bende, Ohafia and Arochukwu. During election Orji will have Bende, Ohafia and Arochukwu LGAs. But Isikwuato and Umuneochi often be a battle ground. But this time around it was different. In Isikwuato, for instance we have the Minister of State, Mine and Steel Development Uchechukwu Ogar well prepared to deliver for the APC. I believe a million times over the people will support the APC. At Umuneochi, the APC will lead comfortably because we have politically influential people there. Orji with his strength and popularity will get hold of the place. Coming down to Bende, the place of Kalu, he always rules in the area like a colossus. In Ohafia, where I come from and many others, we will deliver to the APC and that is a fact. At Arochukwu, Kalu had never lost any election in the area, so we don’t have any fear, should there be a re-run. That is the basis of my confidence and if there is a re-run ten times over Orji will still win the election. If at the Appeal the court upturns the judgment of the tribunal fine. But if is otherwise, I want to say Kalu will win Abia North any time any day. He can even stand as an independent candidate in any election and win. He is a cult hero in Abia North and there is nobody to contest it with him.

Some people have raised concern that Abia government is not living up to expectation. Are you worried?

I have met governor Ikpeazu several times and in our meetings I have been very opened to him. I have always told him that this is an opportunity to stamp his legs on the sands of time. The Ngwa nation or clan has been clamouring for an opportunity to produce the governor of Abia State. He is the lucky one that has occupied the position. If he allows the eight years to go and there is nothing to write about him, then history will adjudge him bad. Ikpeazu should put his house together and make sure he delivers good governance in Abia and that is our prayer. Let him use his tongue to count his teeth, whether he is doing well or not. Like they say, the taste of the food is in the eating. The people of Abia State that I meet are not happy with the performance of government. So, I will just advise him to use the chance he has to justify the clamour of the Ngwa people.

The government owed its workers close to one year salaries now…

I am an employer of labour, I know how painful it is if you don’t pay your workers. The biggest problem of some of the people in government is mediocrity. We have people who are not properly nurtured in the art of leadership and they are in very high position. I think it is evil for someone to work for you for 30 days and you refuse to pay that person. How do you expect that person to feed his family? I don’t see a governor that will sleep well, if he refuses to pay salary.

Do you think the APC can make things better, if they have the chance in 2023?

We are not happy that the governor is not paying salaries; there are many issues in Abia that one could campaign about including prompt payment of salaries. If the government is not paying salaries, it is an act of evil punishable by God and it is not proper. So, every pressure on PDP in Abia is an opportunity for us in the APC to produce the next governor.

What is your view on the present cabinet of Buhari?

I do not have confidence in the present composition. And when I compare that of Lagos State to the Federal Government I think, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is better. There is no gap in Lagos cabinet. You can see technocrats and when you put this side by side with the Federal Government, the federal cabinet is like a compensatory cabinet. People who can make things happen are not fully involved. This is why I say I do not expect much from the Federal Government.

Politics / Lagos-Abeokuta Road: Bad Condition Of Road Worry Motorists [Picture] by Apeshy101(m): 12:13pm On Oct 06, 2019
Motorists plying Lagos-Abeokuta expressway have expressed displeasure over the bad state of the Abeokuta-Papa axis of the expressway, especially the Itori and Ewekoro area.

Some of the motorists who spoke to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday said that the road needed urgent attention from both the Federal and State Government.

Mr Bolaji Adele, a commercial bus driver, said that the road was not given the needed attention, saying motorists spends more hours on that axis of the road.

Adele called on the concerned authorities, as a matter of urgency, to find lasting solution to the road.

Mr Kabiru Ahmed, a commercial cab driver, said that his vehicle had broken down several times because of the bad condition of the road.

Ahmed said people that were going for their normal business activities always find it difficult to get there on time while some others miss important appointments.

Some of the passengers told NAN that they were prone to risks while plying the road especially at night.

They also said that motorists were now plying one way which could lead to head on collision with incoming vehicles.

They called on both the federal and state government to synergise and find a lasting solution to the bad road.

The Ogun Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Clement Oladele, said that the command would continue to liase with the government for rehabilitation of the corridor.

Oladele sympathised with motorists on the bad state of the road, advising them not to use that as an excuse to disobey traffic rules and regulations.

“I am aware that the Ogun state government is carrying out palliatives at some sections of the corridor.

“Motorists should therefore continue to be patient with the government, while lobbying their legislators and regularly prevail on the Executive to speedily complete the rehabilitation of the corridor,’’ he said.

The FRSC boss added that the command’s patrol team would continue to mount surveillance on some of the areas where the corridor is bad.

Politics / Gunmen Abduct 6 People In Adamawa by Apeshy101(m): 11:45pm On Oct 05, 2019
Gunmen on Saturday kidnapped six people at Gurin village in the Fufore/Gurin Local Government Area of Adamawa in Nigeria’s insurgency-wracked North-East.

Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, the member representing Fufore/Gurin Constituency in the Adamawa Stater House of Assembly, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.

“I was out of town and was just briefed about the incident. I want to call for calm from my people.

“This is a shocking development and I urged government to do something about the growing trend.

“Security needs to be enhanced alongside intelligence gathering to check this ugly development,” Babas said.

A resident of Gurin community, who identified himself simply as Dahiru, said the incident took place on the outskirts of the village when the kidnapped people went to check their cattle at a grazing area.

“The kidnappers first attacked a car with five people where they picked four people and later allowed one to go.

“They later attacked two people on motorcycle joining them with the four to make the number six people,” Dahiru said.

He described the incident as devastating to the village which shares border with Cameroon.

“We are devastated and look onto God for devine intervention,” Dahiru said.

The spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP. Suleiman Yahaya, could not comment on the development.

His phone rang out when he was called repeatedly to comment on the abduction.

Zamfara Government has summoned an emergency meeting with Fulani leaders over attack on an outpost in which nine soldiers were killed in Sunke village of Anka local government area.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bello Matawalle on Security Matters, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran, told newsmen in Gusau on Saturday that the meeting was to forestall future occurrence.

He however did not say when the meeting will be held.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Suru attack is the first major security breach since the government initiated dialogue with bandits in the state.

Dauran confirmed that Thursday’s attack left some soldiers and the attackers dead, while those injured were admitted in Federal Medical Center, Gusau for proper medical attention.

According to him, the attackers were from Niger state.

“Following the good relationship and understanding established with the bandits which led to their repentance in Zamfara, I can assure you that those attackers are not from Zamfara.

“Immediately after the attack, we reached out to the Fulani leaders in the state who confirmed to us that none of their members participated, but we have summoned a meeting with them to forestal reoccurance,” he said.

Some eye witnesses who spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, said the bandits that attacked the joint security outpost numbered over 200, riding motorcycles.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles team B on Saturday crashed out of the ongoing West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations in Senegal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team lost all their games so far in the tournament.

In Saturday’s encounter, the home-based Eagles lost 2-3 on penalties to Cape Verde, after the game ended 1-1 at regulation time in their classification match.

The Eagles failed to win a game in the competition having lost 2-1 to Togo in their opening game.

Sikiru Alimi opened scoring for Nigeria in the 64th minute, in what was a cagey match up, but the Island Nation responded, and leveled up in the 87th minute.

Both sides could not be separated at the end of regulation time as the match had to be decided through the lottery and penalty shootouts.

The Eagles failed to convert three of their kicks while their opponents converted three to eliminate Nigeria from the competition.

Cape Verde progressed to the semi-finals of the plate competition and would next face the winner between Liberia and Niger.
