its true not to accept but the youths of nowadays only think about I don't want to sit down @home or I want to build my CV...but it is really bad for a graduate in this present economy to earn less than $150 a month that is 60k a month owing to the present economy I once worked earning less than 30k but its of no use nothing to show for I cant even club or enjoy myself and live a boring life cuz it doesn't take me anywhere but for people who desperately need to feed so that we won't die of hunger should take it...for my proper feeding as a single person I shouldn't be spending nothing less than 20k a month... seriously is inside 35k I will rent house feed by working cloth its too bad and our government ain't helping we need to sharp up the guy is right 35k is nothing...any job that can't take u out of your father's house is not a job.... plus the thing annoys me the most is 8-5pm that someone will be working am I an engine that will sit down in the office from morning till evening earning less than $100...its really painful...we are dying we youths are dying by now if not for these useless APC that block everything for person I should av hammered by now..... hustle hard all this 8-5pm job for less than 50k na waste and wash...
It is well bro, to make issues worst the economy isn't helping side hustle thrive. huh So one has to keep the 9-5 running till the economy takes shape.

Congrats to you. And let us learn to give the glory to God.

But please dont look down or talk down on those who started with less.

At the end of the day it is how well a man finishes that matters. In a race, some start so strong and end up last. Some start slow and win the race. It is how you finish.

I pray that as you started well you will also finish well.
You didn't read my initial post bro, I gave 2 conditions to take 30k as a fresh graduate... to amaze you I thought for the same 30k but Lord knew it was a make shift.

This is the same me that sat at home for 7 months all to my shakara before I got what I wanted, so then again it's about perception.

I saw graduates scramble for 30k jobs at ikeja, to me I felt something was wrong with them reasons being that those jobs were not temporary nor a short trainee period. I once embarrassed myself in an interview panel of 2 when they offered 40k...

I attended interviews with top firms like sawobona, Venture garden group, Fidson, signal alliance, Meristem securities, etc the A-list before I got what I'm doing now. So you see bro, it's self worth and not accepting peanuts no matter what. I purposely contributed to this thread to help correct that peanut mentality most graduate carry about.

Na gra gra to do jungle justice back man get, we can't unite to end all these monkey salaries.

I'll like to be discrete, my bench mark as at then was 60-70K, which I eventually got (all thanks to God)... 1 step above that now though, and still pushing...

Depends on the person jare... when I was fresh from NYSC and hungry for a job I didn't allow myself to be exploited, although it took me time to finally get what I wanted but I turned down 30, 35 and even a 45K offer as at then.

I know how my mates and family yabbed me for being too picky but I couldn't just see myself go that low.

Except it's a graduate trainee position for 3 months tops, or a make shift teaching job, no graduate should ever accept 30K as salary.

Erm,I was in a rush to quickly draft a soft copy CV and apply for a job online, due to that haste,I hurriedly submitted my CV and later realized I did not add d dates I completed various institutions I attended,it has been saddening for me since,I had a good feeling about that job I was applying for but with that mistake my morale is so low now.......is there a slim chance that I might still be called upon?just a chance...........
I made the same mistake, buckle up and move on there are plenty of opportunities to come.

Only in Nigeria that companies start asking your personal details, LGA, DOB, etc..when will the Nigerian market place be on par with other developed nations
Personal details should stop at sex and dob, those adding fathers compound and village location are simply on their own. Years of experience correlates with current age, age in the other part is a very key ingredient of a modern CV, you don't wanna leave that to guess work.

Hi Mr Appliedmaths. How was your weekend? I'm yet to hear from you.
My hands are full... I'm trying so hard to finish what I stated. Almost 50 CV's reviewed and about 70 more to go, so I hope you understand. Be rest assured I carefully take my time to treat each case with a high level of professionalism,so it's worth the delay. I can't even respond to every mail or chat, too many, so I'm following the first come first serve rule.

Please, stop this i need a job, most of you your resume is trash......... i drop a vacancy and I have about 5467 cvs to go through do you think I have all the time in the world to go through that amount of cvs I will take 5min to search for what am looking out for and shortlist those applicants that have what I need in their cv. Here is the thing, repackage your cv, All I want to see is experience even if it is 1 year am good please most of your cv have no job function or description so you may stay longer in the labor market.
Fixing this problem would take time especially with the fresh graduates and few working class.
Had the same issue too when I advertised for a position, that prompted me to contribute my quota in helping out on reviewing CV's for free.

Exceptionalkeil:
Good morning Nlanders,

Plz which is the most/ widely acceptable format for cv.

Pdf format or word format.

And is it appropriate/acceptable to attach both the pdf and the word format when applying for a job via email

Thanks
These days it depends on preference whether to send a CV in pdf or Ms word, but the ground rules remains to follow the instructions attached to a job advert. If they say use "pdf" or "Ms word " then you got no choice, but preferably I always advise pdf, makes your CV compact and not easily edited but there's another school of thought that says most HR may not have the tool to access a pdf document which I find fallacious though.

Both Pdf and Ms word Re cool, it's your contents that would speak.
