candidtalk: ......... And what exactly will that achieve? How many times will you followers of Kanu/IPOB/biafra be told the FG is right legally in the eyes of international organisations like the UN, ICC et al? What can Kanu achieve with all this senseless junketing when the fundamental premises of his agitation cannot be decided outside Nigeria? In case you dreamers do not know, IPOB is proscribed in Nigeria and branded a terrorist group by a Nigerian high Court, which is a competent court of law, and not Buhari. Same as no one call tell America who to label terrorists within its border is how no one can dictate to Nigeria who is branded a terrorist within Nigeria.
IPOB can therefore remain abroad making noise but they can do nothing in Nigerian and their agitation cannot be forced on Nigeria by any individual, any organisation or any nation. Even if Buhari leaves, the high court ruling proscribing IPOB remains valid. You guys should grow up and start dealing with facts, like the rest of us do, instead of indulging in flights of fantasy. The move for Biafra must begin at home and with your Senators , if they indeed have the balls to openly fight for it , and not at any UN or ECOWAS gathering.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_People_of_Biafra Would they listen, they think any of those institutions can coerce Nigeria into giving referendum and Biafra. When you tell them that getting Biafra starts and ends in Nigeria, dem no go hear, Since you do not want to resolve the issue of Biafra diplomatically with Nigeria using the people's representatives both at the state and federal levels, the only option is declare your Biafra illegally(war) and not all this waka waka. |

bonnylight003: Biafra is here...
Won't be long .. is certain as the air we breath.wheather dead or alive ..Biafra as a country is almost here.
Terrible news for the country. Many can't hide their fears again.. fear makes one speak and tremble.. why do the southwest fears the most?
This is something am yet to understand...the fear that beholds an average Yoruba ..at the mention of Biafra..both online and offline.. If in doubt ..try discussing Biafra as a country with a westerner..or a fulani..you see the later most times feels unbothered..
Northern Christian's are understandable ..because of fear of islaminsation.
Just don't understand why the pain from Southwest..
Anything explanation? Where is the Biafra, online? I'm sure you're in the SW but nothing would ever make you relocate, the north take the Biafran agitators as jokers and people seeking attention since you've been told to leave their region twice in the last two years but you refused to go get your Biafra |

Politics › Re: Origins Of The Myth About Igbos Hating Themselves by Area4Area: 10:44am On Sep 16, 2019 |
selemempe: Many Nigerians (including Igbos) have either heard this myth or voiced it in some occassions. Do you know the history? Read and learn and diffuse your prejudices.
Before 1966, the Igbos showed a rare unity unexpected of a people that never had a central leadership in their history. That single-mindedness showed itself in the 1922 Aba women riot that saw organised protests from market women because of colonial taxes (1st of its kind in Nigeria). It also showed itself when the Igbos rallied around Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1953 to become premeire of the East after he lost out to Awolowo in the west. The Igbos supported him and effectively dethrone Eyo Ita from Calabar.
The Igbo unity and single-mindedness saw them develope a curious apprentice system that saw thousands of Igbo youths lifted out of the villages by masters who took them to cities (especially in the north) to learn a skill or a trade. The Igbos became a successful and visible minority through this apprentiship system all across Nigeria to the discomfort of the north.
The Igbos achieved another feet through unity of purpose when the Igbos of Delta province in Western Region, under the banner of Zik's NCNC, rallied to be carved out of the west along with the Edoids. This was at a time when Awolowo was fighting a political war with his protegè Akintola. The Igbos were able to divide the West and install an Igboman as Premiere of the new Midwest Region.
The unity of Igbos (plus their industrious nature ) also saw them 1st occupy the majority of post independence political positions. They occupied offices of President, Senate President, Speaker, Chief of Army, Chief of Police and dominated the government of Balewa and the Federal Civil Service. This caused issues ofcourse. Jelousy and envy was directed at the Igbos from all around.
Then the unthinkable happened Predominantly Igbo soldiers executed the coup that left prominent people from other tribes dead except the Igbos. And of course an Igboman was the beneficiary of the coup. Who wouldn't think it was another Igbo ''grand plot to dominate''?
Now to the origin of Igbos not loving themselves; the civil war and aftermath caused it all. How? The Ijaws who were a major (probably the 2nd largest) ethnic group in the Eastern region were not very happy with the Igbos. They felt left out of the scheme of power as far back as 1953. The Ibibio/efiks played the role the yorubas currently play to the north, they support Igbos' dominance of the east with the hope of a sit at the table. Azikiwe was a master of divide and conquer. He gave the Calabas their sit and they gave him their support. So, the Ijaws and Oginis felt isolated. The civil war provided the opportunity they sort. Gowon divided the East into 3 states. The largest city of the East (Port Harcourt) and the major oil wells at the time were carefully carved into Rivers state- a state that was majority Ijaw. The Igbos in the new entity realised the dangers facing them as a result of posible Ijaw oppression. Their leader at the time called Elechi Amadi decided with the elders of the predominantly Ikwere-Igbo clan to dissociate themselves from Igbos in the heat of the civil war. That was it. When the war ended, the Ijaws and the newly formed Ikwere ethnic group refused to allow returning Igbos reclaim their property in PH. In 1978 constitutional conference, many Igbo clans disillusioned by the Igbo identity and the place of Igbos in the new Nigeria decided to go autonomous. Ika, Ukwani and Ikwere clans of Igbo were listed as independent tribes in the constitution. Ikwere people, influenced by the Ijaws, will hardly sell land to an Igboman. Many Igbos from present Imo and Abia states decided to become Ikweres than Igbos.
As all these things were happening through the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, the ever gallant Yoruba media were taking note and resounding it through-out Nigeria that the once united, homogenous and powerful Igbos are no longer united or homogenous nay powerful. The politics of Senate Presidency in 1999-2007, which saw Igbos produce 5 SPs in 8 years did not help matters at all. It got to a sad point that even Igbos started doubting themselves.
This is the story.
But is it not funny that a people who helped themselves, dragging themselves out of poverty one person at a time after they were left with nothing but 20 pounds are said not to be united. But Akintola and Awolowo were united. Ife and modakeke were united, boko haram and kanuris were united, fulani and middlebelt farmers were united...etc
I hope that one day the Ikweres (especially), Ikas and Ukwuanis will come back to the fold and be proud Igbos again so that we can go back to our winning ways when Zik was our leader.

Going to EU and UN has nothing with wanting other Nigerians to do anything. Liar, I was in Onitsha during the first and second python dance and nothing of sort happened, aside some strategic trouble spots like Nkpor roundabout, under Nkpor bridge, head bridge where soldiers were stationed, people moved freely like nothing was happening. Only IPOBians were apprehensive then. If you need a job, let me know |

See this pic...its Lithuania. They are just 2.8 million people...They population has 82.4% ethnic Lithuanians...and they are prosperous and happy. Why merge more than 200 tribes in Nigeria, a black African country that can't manage diversity because of poor leadership and expect them to have power, good hospitals, good road networks and industries. All you have is political business where leaders main aim is LOOTING! How would you Yorubas have felt when you can't become Police IG, Army chief, the president or VP of Nigeria and others? How will you feel if your federal roads are the worse in the country? How will you feel when you MUST travel to say Enugu to board your flight abroad..or come to PH to clear your goods? How will you feel when you can't mention one FG project in your region...and this has been on for about 50 years?
Mister, Igbos are nice people...their youths are slow to anger. Have you seen the post where Ribadu said the Fulanis are killing because Buhari abandoned them? But Igbos have been abandoned since after the war and they are now simply asking to leave the union...without killing anyone. Mention me when YOU have declared your IPOB Biafra |
