Travel › Re: What Is Your Dream Country To Travel To And Why? by AreaFada2: 10:27am On Dec 12, 2016
UrennaNkoli:
Mine would easily be Japan. Mainly the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo. Japan has this aura that makes you feel on top of the world. Talk of the food, the people, the atmosphere grin. Everything is just perfect. I'll die for Japan.
Ok. But do not expect too much.
Never been there but I know those living there or have visited.

A Japanese Tourism minister Nariaki Nakayama once said out of frustration that "Japanese definitely do not like foreigners". And he resigned after saying it. He had an impossible job. The country is so homogeneous that they look suspiciously at foreigners. Even with American soldiers based there since 1945.

A mate from school went there for an elective years ago. She tried a lot to learn Japanese to a decent level before going. And she could communicate in it. Even in a large Teaching Hospital, she said her interaction with Japanese was very minimal. Not to talk of outside. A very depressing experience even for a rather quiet person.

Even majority of hotels & inns Do NOT want foreigners.
But they are very shy people.
I still wonder how it was partly hosting FIFA world Cup in 2002 & Winter Olympics in Sapporo in the 1970s. grin shocked shocked

My dream destination is Cuba. Before it becomes just another copy cat of Western consumerism. cool

Family › Re: What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Court Marriage by AreaFada2: 7:09pm On Dec 11, 2016
At OP,

I like your style. After the wedding comes the marriage: the daily life. Far more important.
Court marriage is probably better. You get your legal documents. Better when processing documents like visa and such. The world is shrinking.

If in a big city, do the registry bit and go to a cheaper part of town for a small reception. Like a nice restaurant.
Done and dusted. 5 hours is too much sef.

By the way common law and customary law marriages are legal too. When dowry and or other local custom has been followed and both families have agreed, it is valid.

The family court will consider such marriages as valid. Only that one party can claim that the marriage did not take place properly since no legal documents to prove it.

Thunder fire that stupid pinick and his cohorts. In any serious country Dalung, Pinick and their useless NFF idiots should be gone and facing query right now.

Axing the girls is doing them a favour. No more risk of suffering potential career ending injuries playing for National team to collect 30k that won't even be paid sef. And you're OYO if injured on national duty.

They want to use patriotic sentiments to fool Nigerians. The girls have demonstrated more patriotism than Pinick can muster in a hundred lifetimes.

Women fear for their reputation, hence they play game carefully.

But if faraway and risk of hubby/bf/family finding out negligible, some of them can be openly permissive.

Some women, both married & single, travel to far flung holiday destinations to sample multiple young dudes. grin cheesy

I think the minister knows what he is saying. Having frustrated the girls at every turn, withheld bonuses over long periods, how could they expect them to win??

Same way our politicians do not believe in Nigeria and go abroad for everything : medical care, their kids' education, imported tooth pick, etc.

Pls experts help!!
I am no expert but I do no think 4m will complete it. But do you really need 5 bedrooms in the villa? How often will you stay there or who will stay there permanently? If aside prestige no other reason for a big house, you can go a long way building just 3 bedrooms and a parlour with 4m. It still won't finish it to a modern standard though.

But do not be deterred. Use expert to avoid errors and have a go. Delay will further erode the value of your money. Good luck!

oluwamitomisin:
Yes, Asia eats more rice. My 2 years stay in South East Asia was when I ate the most rice in my life. No wonder why we have 'Thailand Rice" because for every free space, rice is grown in that part of the country I lived. My idea that wheat was once the world's staple food is coming from wheat abundance in the Middle East- and that region is probably the oldest known place in the world. Also consider that Europeans eat much bread than rice.
I get your drift.
But middle East is not the oldest place. Even Western scientists have long given up that idea.
Africa is.

All the oldest human fossils have been found in Eastern/Central Africa despite more extensive excavations in Europe & Middle East.
Genetic studies also clearly show that original African people are ancestors of modern humans. Spread of humans was from Africa outwards.

The creation story of humans 7000 years ago in the Middle East holds no water. In fact the story probably wasn't meant to be literally as we interpret it today.

Just curious,

If i understand what i read in this article very well, the young boy is a real Chief?how is that even possible?you guys should pardon my ignorance, as everyday we learn.

I must admit, i do not understand how the Eastern Culture works, but in most cultures in Nigeria, Chiefdoms are bestowed on mostly older people who are not only accomplished in life, but have contributed to their society in an immense way.

And even in some Cultures, there are rites of passages, and some secret initiations that has to take place to be honoured as a Chief. And that is why i am puzzled and confused here.

Can anybody be kind enough to educate me on how Chieftaincy titles are gotten in the East?

By the way, the sweat on that guy's body on picture 7 gives me the creeps. I am trying to imagine how those standing close to him could breathe, it is as if he took a shower right there.
I do not know about the East but in Edo it is not unusual. It is only hereditary dating back hundreds of years. I have a teenage relative who is a duke. His dad died rather young. The teenage duke has a beautiful palace with his own chiefs & courtiers. With SUVs bearing HRH plate numbers. His dukedom is a miniature kingdom granted his ancestor who was a younger son of the Oba. He's currently a student abroad.

I know another underage duke also. Both dukes can bestow chieftaincy titles on upright & deserving members of the society if they wish to. But not while underage since daily palace affairs are currently managed by their palace chiefs and regent pending their minority.

Maybe Easterners can enlighten us about how it works in the East.

You are the one in love with her, she's not.

It doesn't look good long term for you both. Marriage & kids might calm her down but still very vulnerable to cheat with work colleagues, etc.

Where there is no accountability, impunity reigns.
