Billyonaire:The Oba can suspend anybody/any chief even if he's the chief priest if he goes against the tradition. In any case such duties attached to a position that is occupied traditionally by royal relatives can revert to another chief within the class of royal relatives (Ihogbe). It is even much easier in this case because those duties were once performed by Chief Ihama of Benin. He can retain the title nominally. Traditions and antecedents are there to follow. Even though detractors would relish a crisis, there is none over such a suspension. He will have to go and beg for forgiveness and if the Oba wishes, he can forgive him. QED. |
YesNo:Lol. ![]() You nailed it. She should tell us how a high number of kids end up being fathered by other men than the presumed biological dad (the woman's husband). Paternity/DNA tests are revealing lots of things these days. And she doesn't want to accept that many of the guys who cheat do some with married women. ![]() We know far better now. Women cannot pull a wool over our eyes anymore. ![]() |
Jeoma11:A very foolish policy. Africans only laugh at us for doing so. We should make Nigeria peaceful, successful, develop it, drastically reduce number of Nigerians going abroad (including within Africa) to hustle anyhow and gain respect. People respect countries with a successful economy, peace & security. Any African country needing help should come and beg for it. And if we have excess of anything and we cannot sell it to make more money, we can give to fellow Africans. |
CuteTj:Thank you my brother. Henry is analysing the economy taking cognisance of our own very curious peculiarities, not just general economics as it applies to most world economies (whether oil exporting or not) where things work. If we refined our own oil, had electricity to drive production, had a banking system that lends to SMEs at reasonable rates to produce to meet much of local consumption, drive export and drastically reduce dependence on import medium to long term, Henry's analysis would be partly flawed. But he has just analysed the major flaws in our system and very crucial to see it as it is. Flooding the system with Naira and then having to buy back dollars at higher rates to fund import can only ever increase inflation, weaken the naira even further, stifle investment, create job losses/increase unemployment, create more poverty and yet widen the gap between the rich and the poor. Yes, fixing the flaws Henry has pointed out would be counter-intuitive and seem to be against CBN norms but business as usual is not getting us anywhere as we can see. Deliberate, calculated and bold moves are needed. We need to depoliticise our views when talking serious economics that affects all of us. |
Flaghouse1:In terms of durability, terrazzo is just superb. There are still some done in the 1980s still in good nick. Still sparkling once cleaned. You know we just like to be trendy, not minding if what we have is already extremely good and needs to just be upgraded a bit. |
Flaghouse1:Correct. I'm a big fan of terazzo but I was always discouraged by people. They say it is old-fashioned. I just believe expertise in it is not there so much now. But nice marble tiles are pretty cool now. You can combine colours and designs using the modern tiles. |
banki:The great country the North had over 35 years to turn great and failed. GEJ should have done the magic in just over 5 years, bah? Your bigotry is alarming. Anyway GEJ turned our economy into largest in Africa, hundreds of Almajiri schools (schools Northern presidents did not build), 14 new fed universities, agric boom, better roads, new & repaired airports. I have use airports for 30 years so I know. And many more. Despite Boko unleashed on his regime. Look, the best thing was for GEJ to go and let the North wallow in their mess and religious fanaticism. To show he was a good looser, he handed over without even going to court, something Buhari would never do. You guys are the losers because after nearly 40 years ruling Nigeria, your contribution to the world is Boko Haram. ![]() |
Creating a monster is the easy bit. Controlling the monster is another ball game. Jonathan is not ruling anymore. They thought it would be easy to order Boko back home. But they're now learning the hard way. And covering up along the way. I only pity the NA casualties (and their loved ones) that are covered up because of propaganda/political expediency. |
kolomax:Do not pretend that religion is the most important factor in Nigerian politics today. Even when a Christian rules, it the one Muslims chose. Like OBJ. GEJ wasn't chosen by them hence they used Chibok girls to bring him down. Sadly despite ruling for 35 years, they still have Almajiris everywhere. |
Old story but still sad. |
emeijeh:lol |
The guy tried. But the car looks like 2002 mode to me. Very clean car for that age I must say. |
kolomax:You can hardly blame FG of then, when Northern elite were hosting the Chibok girls in a sumptuous Mansion. They were not in Sambisa for months. How could the girls be traced when the Northern elite had carefully planned it, possibly with funding from a foreign religious government from the middle east. Aim was to bring a Muslim to the presidency. Why are the Chibok girls not allowed to talk freely? The full truth will come out. Only a matter of time. Hope you are enjoying the change scam. ![]() |
jordinsparkles:Abio my dear. This Gideon guy is very unwise. He has a lot of lesson to learn in humility. |
Oh boy, your money did not cover cost of adding E. Soup sweet na money kill am. ![]() |
justi4jesu:Hehehe...well received o. Thanks dear. We go gist sha. About your zone.....travel stuff to your area. |
Nigerians still believe in large buildings as the definition of a university. ![]() Many world class universities do not have massive buildings. They are just well-organised and classrooms are used with strict time table. Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Bologna, Heidelberg, LSE, etc are good examples. To begin a maritime university (specialist school), these buildings are more than enough. |
Good idea in itself, but we do not have the organisation, discipline, selflessness and honesty to run a scheme like this. So it will be another avenue to loot. |
At OP, it's best to speak to people that are already doing anything you want to venture into. I shuttle between London and Abuja and I'm currently on the construction of my second house in Abuja. The first thing you need is a building plan. This will guide your budget. In Nigeria a Valuer/Quantity Surveyor can get this for you and for very cheap in this recession. The second thing is your budget. This will determine how grand or otherwise the building will be. Cost of materials are almost always the same all over Nigeria except for things like windows and doors and tiles and roof materials. So therefore it's the main structure that will affect your pocket including finishings like fence and type of fence. As a rough guide my first house was a 3 bed bungalow it cost less than 6 Million naira not including the land and estate fee a few years back. You need north of 10 Million naira as a guide. Not including cost of the land. The third bit of advice I'll give you is to keep costs down as much as possible. Because you are almost certainly to discover you'll go over budget at some point. Ask anyone who has built. Especially if you take over a year to complete the construction. This happens because of inflation. The price of a bag of cement in January last year is very different from the price in September last year. The very last bit of advice I'd give you is to be very careful where you want to build. Airport Road is a very contentious area. It has seen AMAC/FCT/AGIS destroy many people's houses over the years because they built on illegal land. Do not under any circumstances build on stand alone land on Airport Road or else you want to cry. Your safest bet is to buy estate land and buildings within the estate. Is this what you have done and which estate is it?
Thanks for the insight. Do you know of any good and yet affordable estate plots of land/agents in Abuja that you can recommend? Thanks. |
justi4jesu:J4J dearie, longest time! Like 2 years sef. How are you? Well, even if na 200 Naira, many people including my humble sef will help. ![]() |
The Okeke dude has achieved his purpose sha. Because until this minute I never heard about him. He could be a spare parts dealer or a nursery school teacher for all I know. ![]() |
I hope this Oby lady get sense o. The one Fulani Herdsmen (Boko Mobile Brigade/BMB) are doing in the SE/SS is not enough? You wan carry your head (or whoever you want to send) go meet them for Sambisa? Na wa o. ![]() |
truefact:Even the British that "united" us cannot even stay in European Union that they voluntarily applied and begged to join EEC back in the 60s and early 70s. They found increasing "unity" with Europe problematic and are now leaving. Much less we that did not even ask to be amalgamated in Nigeria. ![]() At the very least, there should be a greater decentralisation of govt, with much powers devolved to regions. Failing that we are staring a messy implosion in the face. A very messy ethno-religious one. Nigeria survived Biafra war because religion wasn't openly a major factor in it. |
juman:A house divided among itself cannot stand irrespective of wealth or resources. Even OBJ who fought against Biafra and normally sings One Nigeria mantra has admitted that the country is more divided now than ever. The more we force unity, the more disunited we become. This is because various ethnic groups do not find fulfilment in the Nigerian project. They are being suffocated by poverty, crime, terrorism, inflation, bad infrastructure, no light, joblessness, corruption and more caused by the poor governance by the elites. Therefore, if we do not soon grant various regions much greater autonomy and self actualisation/governance within One Nigeria, there might be no Nigeria to call one. We cannot keep quoting corruption by state governments to perpetuate an unwieldy centralised FG that is very far removed from the grassroots. Let bring governance closer to the people and let the people take it from there. Yes, those of us sounding a note warning are labelled IPOB, militants, wailers and whatnot by the ostriches out there. They stick their head in the sand instead of seeing reason. |
Give an idea of the cost per square metre according to types and locations you have worked at. That is far better. Transparent posters simply get more further enquiries and patronage. |
genesisproperty:Can you show pics of these properties? Thanks. |
oruma19:Well, maybe. But the title of the book alone shows that it is clearly a political book. We all know the ownership politics concerning Itsekhiri, Urhobo & Izon. However, what I wrote is the oldest version of things coming from Prince Iginuwa's place of origin. None of us was there when it happened. Anyway any tribe can write their history as they like. |
nams77:Happy new year. Do you now have a pic sir? |
ekanDamie:With all that make up? Maybe fine. But are they as long suffering, for better for worse as the ladies of yore? |
Na wa. A country where life expectancy is 53 years has a president that is 74. Congrats sir. |
softwerk:Abeg nor even mention journalists. Those waiting for govt to make then SA or SSA on media are the ones to venture into investigating anything? Everyone is look for food. We're where we are. As much as I hate to be pessimistic, I cannot see things improving anytime soon. We are current wasting our future (human resource) either through deaths, crime, accidents, poverty, disease or sheer unemployment and lack of productivity. But things will seriously fall apart one day. Hunters will become the hunted. |
