Everytime PMB tries to dialogue they say he has slighted them and they resume bombing.
If he brings one team the bombers say the team is not recognized. If he brings another then it's another story. When has a president ever been openly threatened to not enter a territory to avoid being assassinated? If he tries to be diplomatic he is played as if he is weak. If he tries force he is played like he is a tyrant.

As far as BH business PMB did wrong in his statements. I don't support any of his actions other than sending those bastards to Allah with bombs and bullets. But GEJ handled that wrong in every way. He didn't respond to the Chibok Girls for days. Mama Peace was twerking on that man while territory was being snatched.

Both administrations have their short comings. I'm not happy with any of these people. They are all failing at present but I will be honest and say that the Naira's fall has been aided by the pipeline destruction.
First of all, I do not in anyway support bombing.

If they claim to be slighted, could it have anything to do with their/FG approach, a slave-master attitude may be?
Is it not on record how the two previous FGs did it? Can't FG seek advice from those involved in previous deals?

We can find excuses for anything, on both sides if we want though.
Whatever mistakes GEJ made, he has been lambasted enough for it. He even lost the presidency and another person/Buhari was entrusted with it.
Isn't it finally time for Buhari to begin delivering what he promised & realise that he wasn't elected to blame the past? shocked shocked shocked

I remember vividly telling someone in February that by September,a bag of rice will be 20,000 naira ,she looked at me and called her family members and they started making jest of me
Now I know they won't be able to afford to eat rice now.
Hahahaha!
We bought a few bags of rice a while ago. Should last through Xmas a bit beyond. Lol.

Sadly, nothing happening now really surprises me.

Pity people thought we were being partisan last year. We were not, we were genuinely concerned.

Bros i concur, in the line of thought let me continue, now Emir Sule Laido was part of the crisis, key figures in Financial sector musn;t give the notations the liks oh himself were doing, it spooked the nation and rather than government that came in to increas spending to cushion the impending shockwaves, the government rather became conservative..forcing industries to adopt the cautious or frozen state, the same for the stock market, the same for the FDI, I wrote a tthesis on macroeconmics, how oil prices causes tremors in Nations like Nigeria for a client on Saturday bros the figures i saw, everything started falling from Buhari... I still have the file on my PC in fron of me now..

Investor confidence is low
Gbam!

I'm not an economist but I have common sense.

Optimism & positive vibes are crucial to boost investor confidence. Sanusi took actions (some draconian) while shouting from the rooftop how soon our economy/financial sector will collapse. Many us lost money(stock exchange) from the loss of confidence and foreign investors taking their money out, FDI drying up & local investors keeping their cash.

Then Buhari came & met a fairly decent economy, with over 6% annual growth for about a decade & top destination of FDI in Africa. Then he went about telling the whole world how corrupt Nigeria & Nigerians are. All that while claiming to woo foreign investors.

Even a village primary school head boy cannot commit such a novice blunder. shocked shocked shocked
He then began micro-managing the economy, cutting off money circulation, blatantly breaking free market economic rules & strangulating both local & international companies: airlines, local manufacturers, importers, etc.

It has everything to do with this thread. We don't earn major forex from any source other than oil. With the decline in oil price world over the Naira took a major hit but with the attacks on installations the Naira has been crippled. We import but don't export. The imbalance is being felt.
Well part of leadership is to calm frail nerves and resolve crisis across the land. GEJ was lambasted over Boko Haram. With everyone knowing that both Boko, their local & international backers were all specifically against a Christian president & sought to frustrate him. Even APC leaders including Buhari said GEJ should not bomb Boko. "Fighting Boko Haram is fighting the North" Buhari said then. Until the international outcry over Chibok girls that Buhari wanted to cash in on, he never said anything against Boko. He wanted money/amnesty given to Boko like creek militants. He said it openly.

BUT oil flowed because beginning in Yar'Adua's tenure, Jonathan personally went to the creeks to discuss with the militants. Bombing drastically reduced & oil/money flowed. Oil did not flow by magic, but through efforts of FG of Yar'Adua and later of Jonathan's FG.

Why can't Buhari make oil flow? Is it not his job to pacify or win the militants?

When they were huffing & puffing then, it was because thanks to GEJ's economic boom, they had food in their stomach & money to buy data bundles.

Left to me, your argument/postulation is invalid.

Wheat was once the food of the world, Rice has easily replaced it. The world can't do without rice until we find a replacement. And I am sure that is not in potatoes or yam. Our focus should be having a balanced diet in whatever meal course we choose.
I do not know how true that is.

Considering that Asia has had the World's largest population for millennia.

Rice has been the most popular food there. Asians eat far more rice.

In most parts of Nigeria, rice has been locally grown for centuries. I still grew up to meet dozens of bags of rice stored for eating from yearly harvest. When we visited the village as kids. Some still manually processed then.

Rice today is easy too cook, in various ways and is "sexy" food too. cheesy grin

Many (not all) useful research gone down the drain. One of the many reasons our country continues to be backward.

Imagine the effort, time, money and stress we underwent to get our projects done.

They 4 just make us learn handwork with that time, effort and money.
Very correct.

I still remember my project supervisor giving me a specific target then saying: I want the quality of your work to be good enough for me to present at a major international conference coming up later in the year. A gathering of experts from across the globe in a major European capital city.

He was himself only just trying to branch into that area of research, so he wasn't even a major expert in that particular area of med diagnostics. So his guidance was basic. The Chinese were trooping in from China at that time to research in the wider area of the subject & take it back to China for mass production.

I was wondering where is Nigerian government? Can't we send in our brightest people to do what these Chinese are doing? Today the Chinese are exporting these things to everyone, at a fraction of the cost of Western products.

That was in diaspora. You simply knew your work was going to be taken seriously & mediocrity wasn't an option.

Among the present service chiefs, two are muslims from the north, pls tell me how many wives they are married to? Or are they also young? As for ur questions, good percentage of Northern muslims are polygamous and they have the right (not reserved pls) to marry 4 wives. Yes, Buhari's daughter is the 3rd/4th wife, and do u have problem with that? If u do, then ur problem has no solution cos it must continue.
U, as a man may even decide not to marry at all, but my question is; if not hate that will not take anyone to anywhere, of what relevance is that to the topic? Marrying more than one wife is permitted in Islam and muslims are not complaining, but u may decide not to marry and that is entirely ur biz.

- Being creative, innovative & ingenious is totally useless if progress is not the result! Not all Nigerian doctors are incompetent (especially those who studied and practiced in Western countries) but most of those who studied in Nigeria are quacks! They've no clue what they're doing!

- If they had actually spent the whole ₦257 billion on healthcare, you would see some of its impact. Unfortunately, they loot most of the money!

- Endemic corruption is the main problem Nigeria has. Nigeria can afford to create the same or better healthcare like in the Western countries but corruption is the obstacle! Our politicians are all thieves!
On the other hand, nothing stops doctors who manage our hospitals from using the exorbitant amount they extort from patients, to equip their hospitals, but instead they also loot the money!

Corruption and incompetence of both politicians and doctors have killed many Nigerians!
At the end we largely agree on many things: you cannot give what you do not have.
By international standards, N257 billion is absolute peanuts still. Amounts to just N1427.78 per Nigeria citizen per year! About $3.50 or well under £3. grin cheesy

An elderly relative of mine spends at least N250k annually on just monthly check up and routine tests and general well-being. Private sector healthcare of course. No major chronic illness and remarkably fit after 8 decades of sticking around. Our elite spend far far more, even going overseas.
Even if fully implemented, it still is very poor.

Let me tell you, Nigeria lacks almost entirely the crucial primary care system of community General Practitioners or Family Doctors.
It is the bedrock of any serious National Healthcare system.
I see medics trained in 9ja doing marvellously in some of the most prestigious hospitals in the West. firsthand. Because they have the right atmosphere to excel.

We're a poor country. That is the truth. But Nigerians fail to realise this. We are too proud that we cannot see that even 5m b/d oil output is very little. Let alone our current 1.5 to 2.5 b/d output. Only a seriously booming private sector can make 9ja great. Including healthcare. But we lack an enabling environment.

What we have is potential and a large pool of human resource & a large internal market. And it has remained just that. Potential.

Even without corruption, the rot might be less but still not going to be great.

The City of London of 9 million people has a budget of £11.922bn. Roughly same as Sweden of 9.7 million people. Nearly same as Nigeria's national budget.
A country financing recurrent expenditure using 70% of national budget is a sorry country.sad sad

Lol @ Tunji.

Of course docs are reluctant to seek medical help. The belief that it's all under control.
Docs dedicate their lives to serve others so that most will still go to work in clutches & pain. shocked

At the end of the day, it depends on individual doctors. Younger medics in my observation tend to be more willing to see seniors for medical advise than the older generation. Many of those oldies have never seen another doctor since they became doctors themselves. grin

Medical couples tend to see each other.

This is why I keep saying that Nigerian "doctors" are useless. In the West, this baby's heart problem would have been detected and fixed even before she was born or taken into intensive care to fix the heart issue immediately after she was born!

I'm not even sure if Nigerian "doctors" can fix any heart disease at all that requires an operation. In fact, they hardly conduct correct diagnosis of illness! Most Nigerian "doctors" don't know what's wrong with their patients! So most times they end up making guesses of patient's illness and administer treatment meant for a totally different illness their patient wasn't suffering!

A friend of mine (an European based Nigerian) who visited home, nearly died in Nigerian because his illness was misdiagnosed at three hospitals that gave him three difference results and none of them stated correctly his illness! When he returned to Europe and visited a doctor, it didn't take the doctor 2 minutes to reveal what the guy was actually suffering from! And he became well within three days of treatment!

I weep for Nigeria. Nigerian doctors' incompetence have killed many Nigerians. Nigerian hospitals are like death chambers. Patients who have mild and treatable illnesses die steadily in the hospitals!

Shame on Nigerian Universities that churning out either half-baked "graduate" or outright illiterate "graduates! Shame on Nigeria for having the worst Healthcare system in the world!

The Sam family is great for donating the money for another patient suffering from Heart surgery. Bravo to them! I'm so sorry for their loss.
Well, we do not want to be unfair to 9ja doctors in general. Our doctors are actually quite creative, innovative & ingenious & work in rather crude conditions many have to work in. How much does Nigerian government at all levels spend on healthcare?

Holland of about 17 million Dutch people spends around 53 billion Euros on healthcare & Nigeria only 257 billion Naira (177.8 million Euros?) for 180 million Nigerian people for 2016. The difference is staggering. Using 1 Euro = 450 Naira rate. grin

Ordinarily, congenital heart conditions/diseases (CHD) should be picked up latest during the 18 to 21st week antenatal screening tests.

But do our hospitals have the latest Ultrasound scanners & other facilities? Is it free for all pregnant women? Are the healthcare professionals well trained to do the screening & interpret correctly?

Consider those factors first.
