Well said, reading good books about finance is the main key. Investing in stocks in Nigeria is not easy at all, those stock broking firms always speak language ordinary novice will not understand. Moreover, most of the companies in Nigeria are never honest with their profits. Nigerian Stock Market is still regarded as a legal fraud. Most of us still prefer treasury bills, because we can see things in black and white and even argue our way into it.
Absolutely Sir! one must play safe

God bless you sir for this comment. you are absolutely right. just 3years ago I couldn't boast of a million naira. was busy buying the latest hairs and designers clothings in town but ever since I started following this thread silently, my life has turned around that I couldn't believe it myself. It's all about discipline.
please I would like to learn about stocks too. I've been following the thread too for some time but I still can't understand it. if you can put me through some certain things. Thanks
My Oga madam ma, please i dont tell anyone stocks to buy except my household and followers that loves risk taking like me and as such, i will not tell any one to buy which stock. But go and read the richest man in Babylon, there was a mistake the guy made there which i want you to read yourself before you commit your fund. I read a lot before committing my money into any investment cos of previous experience. When you are done reading then you will climb the next step.

Ok Sir, JJC just like me. Walk to your bank, tell them your mission. They will surely put you tru, returns on your money depend on the prevailing rate at that time. Eg i was at stanbic today and rate for 16days is 11.75%, 114days, 12.15% and 359 days is 12.80% these are for secondary market. please find attached tb calculator so as not to disturb your brain in calculating the interest

Is there any thread on nairaland where I can learn about stocks?
Yes but please dont l let anybody advise you on stocks to buy, do the due diligence yourself, read the financial statements of that company and the dividend payment history before you commit your fund. i tell my broker the stocks to buy for me not even my broker can tell me stocks to buy and now that i can trade in stocks online myself, that has eliminated shakara of my broker. Please read much about where you want to commit your hard earned money.

A very big NO. Everyone in Nigeria cannot be a millionaire, no country on earth is every citizen a millionaire. Many Nigerians don't have the mental state to control few thousands of naira, much more millions. Besides, if everybody becomes a millionaire, it won't be a fun thing becoming a millionaire. To become a millionaire, you need a very high level of financial disicipline, which majority of Nigerians lack.
Thank You very much BOSS, i truly love your stand on this particular question i want to back up your point by saying every Nigerians who DESIRED to be a Millionaire can be As you have stated above, one must have a very high level of financial discipline which majority of Nigerian lacks, we want to eat our cake and at the same time have it in our hands. Jesus says the poor will always be with you but me i want to be among the rich and i believe if one has the desired to be rich legitimately, one would go extra mile to achieve such even as salary earner no matter the amount, one can be a millionaire. Is matter of mind set, one also need to read much about maintaining that status when one gets there. i could remember about 10yrs ago, i was saving my small small money then invest in tb wit returns of 14k on those hard earned saved money, i also diversified into stocks then but i was determined and focused and Thank God today, i can do TB of 10m but still eyeing 20m by next yr GOD helping me. Majority are ruining rat race today cos of financial indiscipline. Today i dont need to use my housing allawe to pay house rent, dividend from my stocks does that for me, TB can pay my child school fees and i invest my housing allawe in return to get more money. Every one who desires to be a millionaire legitimately can be if he/she work towards it and have very high level of financial discipline

Many people have raised a red flag on wapco
I equally posted a comment on red flag signals.
WAPCO n Oando fit into those companies that expand aggressively without having the means.
Every year, dz good for nothing company will be racing preferential shares, bonds commercial papers. All in the name of expansion.
Dangote actually played a smart one on this company by taken makanju and some of their technocrats. Since makanju left, dz company has never be d same.
A company that dangote met in business could no longer rival ccnn. What a pity? Wapco is sinking in debts.
Too late to catch up.... Wapco heading southwards @ km N10 to 15
fear of dangote is what is driving them crazy

Don't be too quick to blame anyone. Sometimes you get angry answering the same question over and over. Especially when it has been answered recently. Some people even repeat a question that has been answered on the same page.
Thanks BOSS, exactly my thought. Some one has posted TB excel calculator and which to me is working perfectly just input the parameters and one time you get your final answre, yet many still ask from time to time on how to callculate the returns. If you tell such a person to read previous pages my ogas in the house is that an insult or an act of being rude?

Got u sis , I still do not believe on Long term for now .. For example, First bank that was bought btw 18 to 21 naira 2013 and U and I know the how low it went 3.50k and i think highest this yr was like 14 naira

Not to talk about pple that bought the IPO @ 33 naira 2007, have some friends that took loan from UBA those days and bought @ 54naira
Thank God FBNH survived it , but lots of pple that bought high still dey on -ve or sold at loss
I agree with you that skye did not release their results and that was a warning sign ..what about oceanic, bank phb, intercontinental bank etc
What about those that bought skye IPO like me @14 and trusted the longterm investment and even if am still selling @ 80k it will be at great loss

Cecilia ibru was still on Hard talK BBC running her mouth few months before the shocking news that the bank was one of the best while shareholders were not aware the bank was already sinking ..The woman even won award for the Bank
If you re on longterm on NSE you have to be extra sensitive to info you may end up winning but for me am Done !
i was a longtimer before but my strategy now is, after qualifying for dividend, i wait few days/months, i dispose all and hold my money in treasury bills of not long days. I have learnt enuf lesson on NSE
Politics › Re: Osun Governorship Election 2018: Live Updates, Results Monitoring And Reporting by aremso(m): 2:21pm On Sep 23, 2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Osun governorship election inconclusive.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Joseph Afuwape, who announced the results on Sunday afternoon, said the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, polled 254,699 while Isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress had 254,345 votes.

Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party polled 128,049 votes to place a distant third.

However, Afuwape said that since the difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes but the number of cancelled votes was 3,5498, no winner had emerged.

“Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it is not possible to declare any party as the winner,” he said.

Details soon…
