It’s more like a scholarship and sponsorship letter. Please what do you mean certified it as the true copy as it’s in form of a an Email that I printed out(in black and white) Paid for assisted service just made copy of the doc, the document is signed and has a QR code for verification

I remember warning people a while ago to use logic before deciding to come to the UK, rather than the typical Naija's attitude of "We will cross the bridge when we get to it" No one is saying you shouldn't come to the UK but make sure you've paid your school fees in full before stepping foot on the plane and have some money left to sustain you for at least 9 months.

You CANNOT pay part of your school fees and believe you will be able to hustle for the balance on a 20 hours/ week job, especially if you're a solo student with no dependent but it seems people just want to get the UK visa by all means.

I've seen fully grown men and women beg for food, money and accommodation because they either can't balance their school fees or they arrived and realised there's no health care job waiting for them. UK is a hostile place to be if you're an immigrant and broke.

Hey man what would u advise someone with a fully funded scholarship (comp science) vs a remote job in Nigeria that pays 200k hybrid(based on Lagos) to report once a month… currently based in a cheap state ?

You are right but that's gambling. So it becomes a 50/50 thing. Some are lucky to get job immediately the arrive and their permutations work for them while some won't be that lucky. I don't like taking stupid risks. If I did not have money to last me for 1 year when i migrated, i wouldn't have left Nigeria

I keep saying it, if you want to migrate whether through school, PR etc ensure you have enough money to last you at least 8 months to 1 year. If you don't, you will be under pressure from the day you land and you become desperate. Unfortunately things don't work out well for people who are desperate as they are prone to making mistakes upon mistakes.

I have contributed features and bug fixes to popular open source projects but when I mention this to recruiters or during the technical interview, the interviewer doesn't seem to be interested in those.

They were more interested in what school I studied at, what other companies I worked for and how long, and how low of a salary I was willing to accept.

I always believed contributing to open source= experience until I joined a popular tech company.. and I bet you real life experiences beats degree, working under pressure, seeing systems that thousands of users make use suddenly stop and your team trying to resolve it is an unbeatable experience

Currenfly in a similar situation… Landed a tech job that pays around 250k(remote but must be in Nigeria) have a fully funded scholarship to the uk with accommodation… Im probably going to pick the scholarship though cause it’s a once In a life time opportunity…. I think you need to also consider job security… in my case that was the deal breaker coupled with I’m quite young … private sectors in Nigeria can be crazy
