SenseiX: So Jagaban is actually a community college alumni , no wonder he's so street. Community colleges are like vocational training schools for dropouts and never do wells who couldn't finish High school and whose highest qualification is a GED. Nigerian Polytechnics are even better. Doesn't change the fact he is an effective politician albeit a very corrupt one at that. Just Saying Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Governor, State of Lagos, Nigeria Richard J. Daley College, Illinois
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on democracy's front line in Nigeria.
A former student of Richard J. Daley College in Illinois, Tinubu is the governor of Lagos state, a region with the largest city in the most populous country in West Africa. His mission is reconstruction, renewal, and the establishment of a new state. His administration is striving to improve education, health care, roads and other public services. Although it is one of the world's top oil producers and has vast untapped reserves of gas and iron ore, Nigeria is hampered by government debts and widespread poverty.
Tinubu learned about democratic principles while living in the United States. From Daley College, he transferred to Chicago State University and graduated summa cum laude.
After graduation he worked for Arthur Andersen; Deloitte, Haskins and Sells; and GTE Services Corp. before returning to Nigeria in 1983 to work for Mobil Oil Nigeria. At Mobil, he advanced to treasurer of the company.
Tinubu returned to his homeland when exiles were asked to help rebuild the country and was elected to the Nigerian Senate in 1992. After the presidential election was nullified in 1993, Tinubu became a founding member of the National Democratic Coalition of Nigeria that mobilized support to restore democracy. In 1999, after civilian rule was restored, Tinubu was elected governor of Lagos.

I really don't get the need to go all the way to China for anything even to borrow money to build what we already have in Lagos.
Lagos state's El Sewedy Transformer and Cable company is still vibrant and about to expand with a new plant in Badagry so why not support Lagos state and El Sewady to expand all over Nigeria?
Makes no sense...
This is why I love Fashola and his foresight and vision
PMP should put him in charge of Power or just create a separate department or ministry for him to deal with electricity.. |

06 Nov 2015By Dele Ogbodo in Abuja
The federal government through the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), an agency of the Ministry of Science Technology and the Chinese Great Wall Corporation (CGWC), on Thursday, formally began the implementation of N4 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed two years ago for the establishment of a local transformer manufacturing plant in Okene, Kogi State.
NASENI’s Spokesman, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, in a statement made available to the media on behalf of the Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, said Nigeria cannot continue to assemble power modules but must upgrade to local production to provide efficient power supply services for the nation.
The NASENI boss expressed optimism that on completion, the project would not only assist in distributing steady power supply in the country but also enlist Nigeria as one of the few countries in the world that has transformer manufacturing plant.
He said: “The federal government and China Great Wall Corporation agreement was signed since 2013, while awaiting implementation, unfortunately, Ethiopia got the hint that Nigeria had an understanding with China to build Transformer manufacturing plant and went ahead of us to get the facilities offered by China in this regard.”
He admitted that Ethiopia now has a big transformer manufacturing plant ahead of Nigeria, adding that despite the delay on the part of Nigeria, the Chinese Government has been patient to assist in reviewing the facilities offered to Nigeria in respect of the project.
Haruna promised to conduct the delegation on an on-the-site visit to PEEMADI-site in Okene and NASENI Solar Energy outfit located in Karshi, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to assess the activities on ground.
The Chinese delegation led by Mr. Ao Pei Yong assured that the project when completed will be the second largest transformer producing plant in Africa.
He explained that the visit was to achieve the process of setting up the transformer manufacturing plant and the initiation of China railway project manufacturing processes in the country, adding that the visit was also to ensure that the harmonisation of government regulations and policies on all related issues were cordially formalised.
He said: “We guarantee to establish everything on transformer and transformer making machines in this collaboration and promise that we will work together to achieve everything as specified in the MoU.”
Yong said that the transformer manufacturing project covers electric power and distribution, power transformer as well as high voltage testing laboratory, adding: “Once this project is completed, Nigeria will have the capacity to achieve a Nigeria brand of transformer not only for self-sufficiency but the country can export to other parts of Africa.”
On the role of Bank of China, he said: “The bank can give financial backing in form of loan and financial advisory support to the project.
“Bank of China’s interest rate is low and also its operations meet the financial requirements of Nigeria. They can also give us as far as ten years moratorium before repayment. So I think the budget cannot be a problem, Bank of China is a strong supporter.” Tags: Nigeria, Featured, News http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/fg-china-move-to-implement-mou-for-n4bn-transformer-plant/224825/ |

aloeman15: Before flame throwers set me ablaze, I'm just looking for answers from lawyers in the house. Also, I would've posted this in the Law section but none exists. So here are the issues:
It appears that he gave a bailout to governors without NASS approval. Is that accurate and if so was that legal? He's paying oil marketers N413 billion for subsidies. After announcing that we're broke and earlier in the year that he won't work with the 2015 budget, is this money from his supplementary budget? Wherever the money's from, shouldn't the NASS be informed and give approval first, even if it's just rubber-stamping? Lastly- and this one will definitely get flak- has the CCB actually published the official asset declaration forms of Buhari and Osinbajo?

This useless man was the Director General of NTA for 8 years and he basically ran NTA to the ground. NTA under this useless, corrupt and incompetent Ben Muray Bruce was nothing but eyesore while his own Silverbird TV and entertainment grew, expand and modernize with new facilities, theaters, malls and chopping centers.
Me sef go praise GEJ sef if instead of getting fired I get promoted after rubbishing NTA for 8 long years and I still get promoted to be FRCN chairman...
NTA is even worse and grossly backward after 8 years under the twitter finger senator's leadership..
Funny enough, he boasts that he's traveled all over the place, but still saw nothing abroad to improve NTA....but the opportunistic clown who immensely benefited from the looting orgy he's now condemning is trying to con Nigerians all over with his corrupt twitter sermon...

Nigeria: The Curious Case of Ben Murray-BruceThat mindset and level of commitment to sociopolitical sensibilities did not however impede the Nigerian government under the first coming of the PDP from appointing Ben Murray-Bruce as Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), that same mindset and commitment to sociopolitical sensibilities did not stop Ben Murray-Bruce from accepting the nomination. I have noticed that whilst the new senator-elect speaks glowing of himself and his achievements in his private business empire, there seems to be a deafening silence over his achievement at the NTA from him and his hagiographers.
In the last coming of the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan was however better informed for he saw it fit to appoint Ben Murray-Bruce as chairman, board of directors of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), now, as this is a sort of promotion from DG; I am assuming President Goodluck Jonathan was impressed with his performance as DG of NTA and so was Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson who decided to appoint him Special Adviser on Investment and Tourism.
In the last sixteen years, Ben Murray-Bruce has always been a friend of ruling politicians and a staunch member of the PDP; he has never wasted any of his precious time in opposition nor been part of any protest. He even unsuccessfully tried to be a governor under PDP in Bayelsa State.
Now that he has become a Senator-elect, guess where? Yes, on the platform of the PDP, it is a very curious case to see that he is planning to go to the senate on everything alien to the PDP. Over the weekend, I read him on twitter and on some online publications say "we must sell presidential fleet, we must cut the salaries of public servants". I hate to state the obvious but really someone must tell our new Senator-elect that these abnormalities came about under the rule of a party he was friendly with and under a government he had access to. We need to remind Ben Murray-Bruce that maybe we could have saved a bundle if he had spoken to his friends in power. He needs to be told that what he is asking for is change whilst he worked for continuity against change in the last elections. Is Ben Murray-Bruce a traitor or a convert?
The case of Ben Murray-Bruce gets even more curious when the senator-elect goes on to advice the President-elect on the art of war, politics and governance and he tells him to discard ideas and ideologies. No Senator-elect, politics and governance are based on principles, ideas and an outlook of the world. Your PDP got itself and Nigeria in this mess we are in today because it discarded ideas, principles and ideologies. If the Senator-elect has seen the light and he is now a convert to change against the continuity of PDP, let him first tell us when this happened, indicate his road to Damascus and spend some time in rehab to detox himself of his years of silence in the face of bad governance and waste. http://allafrica.com/stories/201505131486.html |
