American Senegalese born singer Akon has formed an unlikely partnership with oil and gas giants Shell to create Africa’s first human and solar powered football pitch.

Based at Federal College of Education in Lagos, Nigeria, the incredible new football pitch is based around the invention of a young British engineer Laurence Kemball-Cook, who uses solar power and the movement of players to power the pitch.

By placing electronic tiles underneath the artificial turf, the movement of the players is converted into power by kinetic energy. It is understood that seven watts of electricity are generated every time a player stands on one of the tiles.

Akon, who spent much of his childhood in the West African country Senegal, joined celebrations in Lagos to officially open the new pitch which has six powerful and low consuming LED floodlights.

‘It’s brilliant,’ said Kusagba Oluwadamilola, an 18-year-old sports student, who plays for the football team at the Federal College of Education.

‘It’s going to be really useful. Until now we couldn’t play at night,’ he told AFP.

The entire BBC website appears to be down this morning and some people are comparing it to the arrival of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

It’s not known exactly what’s caused the issue at the moment, but BBC iPlayer’s Twitter account is responding to say: ‘Hi, we’re experiencing some technical issues at the moment, which we hope to resolve soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.’

Engineers are working on it at the moment and the BBC says it’s intermittent. We’re waiting to hear if they’ve tried turning it off and on again.

Is no longer news that Jose Mourinho has been sacked as Chelsea fc manager. He was sacked after leading Chelsea to one point away from the relegation zone so far this season.

Before now, Mourinho was known as the special one in Chelsea; having won lots of trophy for the Stamford Bridge club but now regarded as specialist in failure. lol!

Anyway, i think Mourinho downfall is as a result of his proud heart. The Bible says God resist the proud, meaning God fight against proud people.

Mourinho has been like enemy to so many people in the footballing world. Am one of those who like Mourinho but hates his arrogant attitude. He is arrogant to fellow coaches, arrogant to referees, to staffs and some players. He doesn't watch what he says, he talks anyhow. Am not writing this to criticize him but to let him know where his problem started from so he could fixed it.

Jose Mourinho's problem started this season when he accused an innocent former team doctor, Eva Carneiro, who was sacked because of Mourinho's allegations against her. Each time i think about that lady, something in me says there is something about her. I really wanna do research to know if Eva Carneiro is a Christian, because i know her God is at work.

So, Mr. Mourinho should first, apologize to her and beg for forgiveness, and also, back on Valentine’s Day of last year, then-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho showed there was no love lost between him and Arsene Wenger by calling the Arsenal boss ‘a specialist in failure’. I think he should apologise to him too and to other people he has offended one way or the other, then God will restore his coaching prowess back to him. I have said my own o, if you have ears mr Mourinho, then you should listen to what am saying to you! Ok Bye!

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has listed goalkeeper and skipper Vincent Enyeama, midfielder John Mikel Obi and forwards Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo among 24 players for next month’s friendly internationals against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon in Belgium.

Enyeama is joined by England –based Carl Ikeme, who in his debut kept clean sheets against Tanzania and Niger Republic in two internationals earlier this month, as well as home –based stars Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Femi Thomas.

Former junior international defender Abdullahi Shehu gets his first opportunity at senior level, and Moses Simon, who scored against Niger Republic, is also considered, alongside home boys Chima Akas, Austin Oboroakpo, Paul Onobi and Prince Aggrey. The Super Eagles play the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo on October 8 and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon three days later, in Belgium, as the Nigeria Football Federation activates its plan to entrench stronger bond and cohesion among the relatively new group, through several friendly matches.
