Politics“I Can’t Ask My People To Vote For You”- Awujale Of Ijebuland Tells Jonathan by argon500(op): 7:30pm On Mar 13, 2015
The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland,Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona,Ogbagba II has informed President Goodluck Jonathan that the impact of the federal government has not been felt in Ijebuland.

The Paramount ruler also said that Ijebu sons and daughters have not been given important appointments at the federal level during President Jonathan’s tenure, calling for amendment into the quota arrangement.

Awujale, who is longest reigning monarch in Yoruba land, stated this on Thursday when President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan paid him a royal visit at his palace in Ijebu Ode. He urged the President to reimburse the Ibikunle Amosun government the money spent on building a bridge into Ijebu-Ode, across the Federal government owned Shagamu-Benin expressway.

He revealed that it is not possible for any Oba in Ijebuland to campaign or compel anybody to vote for a particular candidate adding that, whoever does such a thing is looking for trouble.

According to Awujale,” In Ijebu here, it is not possible for any Oba, not even in Yorubaland, to go out and say vote for this, vote for that, that person is looking for trouble. The only thing the Oba can do is to give them the opportunity to present their programme so that people can make up their minds on what to do. I think this is a very sound democratic principle and that is what I have decided to do, to give you the opportunity of meeting with the people.

“One, they see you as a person, how beautiful you are, whether to engage with you or not, to listen to you and see if there are areas where we can meet, as a result, everybody congregating here, they belong to different groups, they are PDP members, APC members, APGA members. They belong to various interests, and when they come, they get to the gate, they shed their toga.

“PDP will remove their PDP, APC will remove their own, APGA will remove their own, they are going to the palace, to meet their ruler, their paramount ruler, to receive that important august visitor who is coming to their lands and give him all honour that is entitle to him.

“In all our churches, after prayer, they will pray for you, pray for the Governor, pray for me and all their leaders both in the mosque and churches as it is so required both in the bible and also in the Qur’an, therefore, I thank you Your Excellency for having this opportunity to address our people to listen to you, to hear your programme, what you have in stock for them and we shall all then pray to God for guidance, because the Muslims would say ‘guide us to the right path’, and God will show us the way because He is the only one that can show the way to people.

“Therefore, I thank you, Your Excellency most sincerely for making this trip. God knows the best, He is the ruler of the Universe. He knows everything and He can do everything, everything is possible in the presence of God, that is why I occasionally go to church to put up a songs.

“Each time I have cause, occasionally to talk to our people, I have always told them, in the churches and mosques that when you’re going to vote, make sure, you back your sons and daughter who will give something back to you, not the ‘Ojelus’, those who will be honest with you, who knows the way of God, those are the people you should vote for, not those who will give you two three spoons and mortgage your future, it is not right.

“I am sure over the years, there has been improvement but this election is full of tension, I don’t know how it is so, why has elections never been like this, about 55 years, I have never seen any election that is full of tension and the one we are having now, my prayer if God should guide us and make sure that there’s peace, harmony and tranquility in the country,”Awujale posited.

Contrary to expectation from the Presidential camp that Awujale and other monarchs in Ijebuland will bless the President and endorsed him as it was during his visit to Ooni of Ile – Ife last week, they were disappointed as neither Awujale nor any of the Ijebu monarchs mentioned anything of such.

Unusual of the Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, who always pray and ask other monarchs to pray for any high placed officers that visit him,Awujale did not offer any prayer this time, despite the request for his blessings made by both the President and the PDP National Chairman,Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu while speaking at the event.

In his welcome address which was read by the Dagburewe of Idowa,Oba Y.A. Adekoya,Awujale thanked the President for his visiting and wishes him well in his mission to win the forthcoming Presidential election in the country.

The monarch declared that all the sons and daughters of Ijebu, who was invited here to join him in welcoming the President are deliberately invited and not base on their political affiliations.

On his own part, the Dagburewe of Idowa, who read the address of the Paramount ruler of Ijebuland,Oba Adetona reminded the President about the long time existence of the Ijebus, added that the region is known for commerce and industry.

He however called on the President to revive the moribund Iwopin Paper Mills, which according to him, would have created more job opportunity for the youths in the area.

“Ijebuland has been in existence for more than 1,000 years, it has always been the land of peace and harmony. The Ijebus are noted for commerce and industry and this has immeasurably contributed to the development of
Nigeria.

“Our supreme head, Alayeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland has been a leader whose leadership has assisted the governance of the Ijebus.

“Your Excellency, it is however germane on this epoch visit to make very few observations about the Federal
presence in Ijebuland.

“The Iwopin Paper Mills, it is not very pleasant that Ijebus noted that over the years, the paper mill has not been
completed for one reason or the other in order to provide jobs for the teaming population of unemployed youths roaming the streets, if the mill is functioning to capacity, it will reduce foreign exchange being committed in importing newsprints and other papers into the country, we are appealing to Your Excellency to look into it. It is indeed project that should not be allowed to rot
away.

“On Olokola Deep Sea Port, we want to remind Mr President of the Deep Sea Port which has been on for years. His Royal Majesty and the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel worked assiduously to see that the project come on stream, but nothing has been done to it.

“We equally noticed that indigenes of Ijebuland are not appointed to noticeable positions in the federal setting. It
will not be out of place, if we remind Mr President of Ijebu State, which Ijebus have been clamouring for, for more than 40 years, we are not oblivious of the fact that the recent National Conference made recommendations on state creation, we are using this medium to remind Mr President about the desire of Ijebu nation in this part of the good country we are.

“Finally, the people of Ijebuland could not but be grateful to the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the flyover bridge he constructed across the Lagos/Benin Express road in Ijebu-Ode, the construction of this overhead bridge has saved the carnage which daily occurred at that particular junction.

“Mr President, we are appealing to Your Excellency very passionately to kindly reimburse the cost of the bridge to the state government so that other infrastructure projects can be undertaken,”the monarch address reads.

In his response, the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP Presidential candidate and the incumbent President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan commended the monarch for his leadership trait and the distinguished and distinct character of the Ijebus.

Jonathan assured the monarchs that,if given the chance and opportunity by voting massively for him on the 28 March,2015 and he eventually wins the election,he will ensure that the long dreamed Ijebu State will be realised.

He also gave an assurance that the report of the National Conference will be looked into and implemented to the letter.

“We would have been to this palace earlier than now but because you traveled and our movement but we are happy that we are here today.

“The Chairman said it all, we are here to formally inform you, our royal fathers from this great Ijebuland, about the pending elections and myself and the Vice President Namadi Sambo have been presented by the party for our second and last tenure and it is only proper for us to inform you because in 2011, I met you, though, not in the palace and did mention my request to you and I know all the issues we mentioned then, I may not remember all now.

“But, within the past four years, we have tried as a government, you know government can not complete all projects within four years period, the education section too, we have tried across the country, the problem of federal government is that Nigeria is a very vast country and you may do much and some part of the country may not even notice what you’re doing but we’ve done quite well.

“In the road infrastructure, we have tried, railway is back, we are trying to improve our terminal buildings and security environment in our airports. The health sector, we have tried both in the tertiary level, or what we call health tourism, some of our hospitals are now open for kidney transplant and at the primary level we are able to eradicate guinea warm and we are on the way of eradicating polio completely from this country, of course, we are also aware the way we handled Ebola issue and we are able to get it out, it wasn’t a big problem to our country.

“Even, in the agricultural sector, we have intervened, it is one of your own that is the Minister, within this period, we have done very well and that is why when we had the devastating flood in 2012, prices of food didn’t go high and even when the international price of oil dropped within this period and the value of the Naira dropped a little, some other countries like ours that depend so much on oil, value of staple food went up, but, in Nigeria, the value has been a little bit stable because of our massive investment and revolution in the agricultural sector,”Jonathan said.

The President further stated that,”In commerce and industry too, we have tried significantly well, car re-assembly people are coming back to re-assemble our automobile needs in this country, we can go on and on, among of the sectors, we have tries significantly but we have not reached where we want to go as a nation and we are totally committed to pushing Nigeria forward and we believe that the hardworking people of this great Ijebuland would partner with us for that.

“We’ve listened to the address presented, the key issues mentioned, that’s why I collected the address. One key thing about the address is the the issue of state creation and other related issues that were discussed by the national conference which the national Chairman did mention, we promise that we will implement the national conference document to the letter.

“It is a responsibility between the Executive and National Assembly, that is one of the reasons, we are praying that at the end of the elections, the PDP should have the control of the two arms of the National assembly‎, so that we will not have issues in terms of implementation, for us, we are ready to implement that report.

“The issue of Olokola project, there are four Deep Sea Ports that will dominate our focus in the next dispensation, God willing, we will go through.

“The Olokola Deep Sea Port project, the Badagry Deep Port Project, the Ibaka Deep Port Project in Akwa Ibom State and the Age Deep Sea Port Project in Bayelsa State, these are four Deep Sea Port Projects that will form our vocal activities because we need to expand our port facilities, Lagos is over congested and we need Deep Port Projects across the country that will be viable and that will help to decongest Lagos and also increase more commercial activities.

“Nigeria is supposed to be a hub where people should import thing into our wharfs and from here move it to other countries, other people take things to Benin‎ and then to Nigeria, it supposed to be other way round but because our ports are congested and with some other restrictions, we want to really make maritime business in Nigeria because maritime is one area that creates wealth and a lot of jobs for our young people, we have been training a number of our people in PTDF to be competent in terms of maritime activities but then, we need to expand the scope. God’s willing, the Olokola project will come on scene as we move on,”the President disclosed.

Commenting on the request of giving sons and daughters of Ijebu noticeable appointments at the Federal level,I promised, “Your Royal Majesty, we will partner with your sons and daughters, the issue of appointment was also raised, Ijebuland is a great land and there’s no government that will neglect the people of Ijebuland, I have to take that very very seriously.

“We promise as a party and as a government that weWill make sure that we don’t play with the unity of this
country, we will do all we can to bring Nigeria together‎, all what we can to make sure that we pioneer economic activities the Ijebus are well know in the area of commerce and industry, even as a child, I was shown how hardworking the Ijebu are before I travelled to any Ijebuland. We will also partner with people across the nation, men and women, for the purpose of moving this country forward.

“Your Royal Majesty, let me re-assure you that we will do our best, we have come here to seek for your blessing and I led the team in 2007 when I was running as the Vice President to see you and 2011, we met again, not in the palace and today we are lucky led by the National Chairman and I believe that this our interaction with the people will help us prepare.

“We have received the address from the people. And we will work with it, that is why we have a number of Government functionaries with me so that after the elections, we will put this on the table, and look at the demands of people from all parts of the country, and see how we can co-opt some, especially, those that can encourage commerce and industry, education and in terms of health service delivery and in terms of infrastructure, it is basic because for us, to progress as a nation, infrastructure must be in place and the power infrastructure which is a priority to this government,” Jonathan promised.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the party,Alhaji Adamu Muazu has appealed to the monarch to bless the President as was done by Ooni when they visited him last week.

President Jonathan later went into a closed door meeting with Awujale but the meeting did not last more than for ten minutes.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that immediately the Chief Imam of Ijebuland,Sheik Imam Abdul Razaq Salaudeen and a clergyman from Anglican observed the closing prayers, the monarchs were asked to move out for group picture with the President.

Surprisingly, few of the monarchs went outside while majority of them stayed back, which made the protocol to cancel the group photograph session and the President hurriedly moved out of the palace as it was gathered that he was going to Lagos to meet with the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

PoliticsFayose: Atiku, Northern Leaders Have Withdrawn Supports For Buhari by argon500(op): 3:43pm On Mar 13, 2015
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has said the alleged tactical withdrawal of support by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and leaders of thought in the North for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), were enough signals that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost the battle.

Fayose declared that the new development has deflated the ego of the opposition party to the extent that it has tactically conceded defeat few days to the March 28 presidential election.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Fayose added that the sudden U-turn made by the northern leaders, which had realised that Buhari would be made to shortchange the North, had rattled the party.

The governor noted that Atiku and his supporters were already retracing their steps back to the PDP and that the North had seen the deceit in APC South-west leaders in pushing forward Buhari, even against the man’s interest.
Fayose also disclosed that the issue of health of the former general had become worrisome to the northern caucus which did not want to forget in hurry the Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua saga.

According to the governor, the APC was forced to cancel presidential rallies in Kaduna and Enugu because Buhari was not yet physically and mentally fit to go for any rally.

The governor said while Buhari was still recuperating in a London hospital, he had to come back home due to pressure mounted on him by certain leaders of his party who wanted to douse the growing apprehension by Nigerians over his state of health.

“We thank the APC for conceding defeat in the coming elections. At east, they, for the first time, appear realistic. Buhari’s insistence that he must be allowed to attend to his health is commendable.

“It is glaring that he needs to rest and not waste energy on a failed project. The man has been abandoned by those who claim to be his backers and Buhari’s people have told him the bitter truth. That they would prefer to wait for another four years than to get trapped by some selfish South-west leaders for eight years.

“The preoccupation of the APC now is how to retain the APC- controlled states and prevent the PDP from capturing them.

“The tactical withdrawal of people like Atiku, Kwakwanso and the battle for survival by Tinubu and Amaechi in Lagos and Rivers have woken up Buhari to the politics of deceit that some are luring him to.

“While PDP leaders are confidently traversing the country meeting Nigerians and getting their support, APC leaders are held up in their hideouts. Who among them is canvassing support for Buhari now?

“Tinubu, for instance, is only pre-occupied with his aim of maintaining his stranglehold on Lagos’ resources by putting another stooge in the Government House, Ikeja, but this time around, he has failed woefully.”

** David Mark Stages Fraudulent Confirmation For Obanikoro As APC Senators Reject Him, Walk Out Of the Senate

There was drama in Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber today as the Senate President, David Mark, carefully orchestrated the confirmation of Musiliu Obanikoro as Nigeria’s minister of state for defence. The nominee had given up the same position to run in the party primaries for governor of Lagos State

Mr. Obanikoro’s confirmation had previously been held up on three occasions as up to 40 Senators rejected his candidacy over his involvement in the rigging of last year’s gubernatorial poll in Ekiti.

A rigging meeting on the eve of the election featured some of the principal characters in the plot, including Obanikoro, and was secretly taped by an army captain and published by SaharaReporters.

Today, a ruthless Mr. Mark, apparently working on a plan to railroad the confirmation process, mobilized People Democratic Party Senators to the chambers of the Senate for Mr. Obanikoro’s confirmation. Knowing that many of his colleagues, especially members of the All Progressives Congress, wanted to question the nominee, Mark merely asked the assembled Senators to vote on whether they wanted Mr. Obanikoro to “bow and go,” a strategy used as an informal blessing when Senators do not wish to question the president’s nominees.

The APC Senators staged a walkout in response, and addressed the media denouncing Mr. Obanikoro’s confirmation. They wanted it on record that they objected to Obanikoro’s confirmation because he is a known election-rigger in view of his role in the unfolding Ekiti State governorship story.

“The hilarious thing is that these most of these Senators appear to have the same shelf life as the man they just fraudulently confirmed for a filthy Ministerial chair,” a political analyst said in response. “None of them may have a job after May 29, but from now on, the Senators carry on their heads the guilt and stench of Obanikoro.”

Asked what he meant, he said, “Can’t you see? Some people will now be known as ‘Obanikoro Senator.’”

PoliticsSoyinka Accuses Presidency Of Using Vulgar Language At Campaigns by argon500(op): 4:37am On Mar 11, 2015
Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has condemned what he described as crudity and vulgar abuse of language that has dominated the electioneering campaigns in the country and blamed the presidency as the major culprit.

Professor Soyinka, who spoke yesterday in Lagos at the public presentation of a book titled “Modern and Tradition Elite in the Politics of Lagos” written by Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole also dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch”, as “three tonnes of doctored and self-serving narratives”, concluding that, “a little learning is a dangerous thing.”
According to Professor Soyinka, what the current political actors have done is to take Nigeria to “hitherto imaginable low in the art of public persuasion which – we have a right to imagine – forms the foundation of political life.”
He said never before had Nigerians been so subjected to what he called “sheer venom, crudity and vulgar abuse of language in such prodigal quantities as in this current political exercise”, and accused the Presidency of being “at the centre of this uncultured art of political persuasion”.
His words: “All of us here have passed through the electoral process furnace before now and I suspect we would mostly agree that never before have we been subjected to this level of sheer venom, crudity of and vulgar abuse of language in such prodigal quantities as in this current political exercise.
“The very gift of communication, considered the distinguishing mark of cultured humanity even in polemical situations, has been debased, affecting even thought processes, I often suspect. Speaking as objectively as is possible in such circumstances, I would say that, among the various camps, the most reckless and indecorous has sadly proved the incumbency camp, where restraint has been thrown to the wind with such abandon that even highly privileged spouses have publicly urged supporters to stone any voices raised in opposition to their cause.”
Criticising Chief Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch” he descred it as “three tonnes of doctored and self-serving narratives”.
He, therefore, tasked Dr Dele Cole, who was a former adviser to the former president, to give Obasanjo tutorial on how to write history.
Soyinka further asked Cole to investigate alleged allegations that the Presidency was training some 1000 snipers and write about it. He argued that there were more political murders during the former president’s reign than at any other time, noting that even during Gen. Sani Abacha’s time, he could not boast of 1000 snipers at his disposal.
Soyinka also cautioned Cole for denigrating African religions by calling the practitioners as ‘pagan’ in his book and warned, “any more of that condescending stuff and I shall invoke Ogun, Sango and other Yoruba deities to pay you a re-educational visit and then you‘ll see whether your Christian eponymous patron saint, Saint Patrick, can save you from their corrective can for your profanity.”
Chairman, Editorial Board of The Guardian, Prof. Wale Omole praised Prof. Soyinka for doing a “content-analysis of the book” through the review while asking other book reviewers to take a cue from that formula.
In his review titled “Learning From Yesterday”, Professor Soyinka commended the author, for his efforts which made it possible to “weed out the pretenders in our own time and evaluate the contributions of genuine leaders to the very formulation of both our collective and individual identities such as Herbert Macaulay and Henry Carr, who are captured in Cole’s book.
“Perhaps, the most memorable personae in this work, for instance, are two pivotal figures in the Nigerian nationalist struggle, even though convergence from two contrasting personalities and ideological tendencies, and who emerge as crucial protagonists and luminaries of this history in the making.
It is impossible to think of either without invoking possibilities of what other directions a colonial Nigeria could have taken without the emergence of one or both – I refer here to the flamboyant and tempestuous Herbert Macaulay, and the more reserved, erudite and conservative Henry Carr – rivals, yet collaborators”, he said
The author, in his remarks said, “I have pretensions of being an academic at some point and I was teaching. The book that you have in front of you is, in actual fact, my thesis for my Ph.D in the University of Cambridge. I wrote it in 1974. The thesis itself was presented in 1969. But as Prof. Soyinka has pointed out, nothing much has changed. The only thing that has changed is my singular failure to be able to educate some Egba people on how to write properly.
”And the coming together of the three main classes i.e. the tradition, the then elite, and the educated others… these three groups came together to insist that even the British subject should be treated accordingly. I am glad that Prof. Soyinka had pointed out the highlights. The judiciary had been messing up, and they would continue to do so unless there is change. I will urge you to read the book. Though it is an academic work, but there are quite some interesting moments.

PoliticsBode George To Tinubu: You’ll Never Be Awolowo by argon500(op): 12:50pm On Mar 10, 2015
A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, says a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will never be like the late Premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, no matter how hard he tries.

Tinubu, who is a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, has been credited with playing a leading role in the creation of the largest opposition party in the country since the return to democratic rule in 1999, due to his influence across the South-West and parts of the South-South.
However, George, while addressing journalists during a meeting with beneficiaries of a scheme by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi, said the late sage, during his time, ensured free education across the Western region when he was the premier.
He maintained that Tinubu had failed to impact positively on the lives of people but was only interested in enriching himself.
According to the PDP chieftain, Tinubu started off by wearing Awolowo’s kind of cap and then wearing round glasses like Awolowo to deceive the people but his deeds were nothing compared to the late Premier.
He added, “People like papa Lateef Jakande, General Mobolaji Johnson would be spinning wherever they are. Tinubu said he did a one-million-man march but that it is a joke.
“For 16 years they (APC) took us to a bridge that led us nowhere and now we are looking for the road to freedom because they have taken us to a point that future generations will not forgive them for.
“Papa Awolowo did so much for the Western region and the nation’s education and that is why every March 6, we remember him. The hood does not make a monk. He (Tinubu) started wearing round glasses, wearing papa’s caps and raising two fingers but he has forgotten the two fingers now”.
George said it was hypocritical of Tinubu to sue the African Independent Television over a documentary the station aired against him.
He, however, urged the judiciary to be fair in handling the case as he had once been a victim of a wrong conviction.

PoliticsAregbesola MUST Pay The Workers Of Osun State Asap! by argon500(op): 8:27am On Mar 07, 2015
Aregbesola MUST pay the workers of Osun State asap! If the allocations from the Federation Account is dwindling, how is that the problem of the civil servants? Why must the workers keep suffering for the stupidity of the politicians? If the allocation is dropping, why can't Aregbe forget his own salary and all the fat allocations he is getting and give the workers? Or does he want to say that he is not collecting his own salary complete? His commissioners and special advisers and special assistants are also not collecting their salaries? Nonsense! The problem with many of these people leading in Nigeria is that they feel they are one super gods higher and better than anyone else. Nonsense, I repeat. In sane climates of the globe, anytime there is a fall in national revenue, the first people to cut their salaries and allowances are the leaders. Why must Aregbe be collecting his own salaries when workers are going hungry for ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR MONTHS? If oil revenue is dwindling, then he must also suffer with the workers by either cutting his own salary, donating it to the workers association or paying them without delay. He must suffer with the people too, or is that not the noise he was making during his campaign? That he would suffer with them and do anything for them. So how can he, Kabiru and other pikins plus Alhaja Sherifat his wife be feeding fat while thousands of workers are going to bed hungry every single night?! What kind of a leader is that?

For others saying is he the only one owing (although that is still a rubbish question), don't worry, we will soon reach your state. Many peopel have absolutely no idea of how these workers cope without salaries for months so that is why you see them talking rubbish on Facebook. People are suffering! And it is not funny! Baba Kabiru, respect yourself and pay the suffering workers. That is the way an Omoluabi should behave. People work, they get their money, no story, no delays and if there should be any suffering, you must suffer the bulk as the leader, true leadership is all about sacrifice. Telling them to be patient after four months while you enjoy is simply idiotic. Nigerian workers, your mumu don do. Speak out.

PoliticsBuhari Is A Better Christian Than Jonathan By Ikechukwu Orji by argon500(op):
There is absolutely nothing Christ-like in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Muhammadu Buhari with a Catholic Bishop during a recent meeting with catholics in Abuja It was Mahatma Gandhi who said he admired Christ not Christians. I guess he said this to remind people that most Christians are definitely not Christ-like. One cannot claim to be a Christian when his attitude is opposite of the principle that we are called to live by. There is no middle ground in this race. It is either you are living like Christ or you are a pretender. People like pretending to be what they are not. It is for this reason that one writer defined hypocrisy as a tribute that vice pays to virtue.

There is absolutely nothing Christ-like in President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. His policies are harsh towards the common man. He has done absolutely nothing for the poor of the land. Rather, he has done a lot to favour the rich and eminent personalities. Any true Christian knows that God loves the poor and is earnestly seeking to do them good. He is seriously looking for those to use to render service to the poor. It can only take a wicked man to increase the prices of petroleum products on a New Year day thereby causing immense hardship to numerous poverty stricken citizens. Any government that is anti poor is anti God.

Jonathan has refused to go after those who are squandering our patrimony. Corruption is rampant and he is pretending that all is well. You cannot be a follower of Christ and allow evil to run rampant around you. How long can we continue this dance of death? How long are we going to allow these men from the forest of thousand demons to continue to desecrate our land? It is about time we chased them away. We need discipline and decorum in governance. And that is what Muhammadu Buhari is about.

Buhari is everything that Jonathan is not. He is disciplined, painstaking and has a visceral dislike for corruption. He has promised to confront corruption and he is just about the only politician that has the credential to do that. He has done it before and he will do it again. The man cares passionately for the poor of the land and wants to do his bit to help them. Buhari is not a drunk and he is not in the business of running around with other people’s wives. As a Head of State, 11 out of 19 Ministers appointed by him were Christians.

Buhari showed leadership when a dangerous Islamic sect known as Maitatsine threatened our peace. He refused to register Nigeria as a member of the Organization of Islamic Countries and banned government sponsorship of pilgrimages to Mecca. It is a well- known fact that his personal aides and domestic workers are mostly Christians and under him no one was victimized on the basis of religion. It is on record that Jonathan is the first President to lead Nigerian delegation to the Organization of Islamic Countries in February 2013. He has spent an average of $14 billion on 26, 000 Haji pilgrims annually from 2010. From all ramifications, Buhari has more Christian qualities than Jonathan.

Buhari’s government will focus on building a society that would begin to move the powers of a smothering federal government back to states and local government. Government will be closer to the people and better aware of their real needs and wants. APC as party is open and beckoning to a majority of Nigerians not because we are handing out goodies to people but because we have a better proposal for them and their families.

As a transformational leader, Buhari is sure of what he wants happen and is extraordinarily strong-willed about it. He has one thing in mind instead of a variety of passing impulses. He wants a society full of opportunities. In short, the key to a successful transformational leader is to keep your eyes focused on your goals. And the people’s general has a knack for ignoring unproductive criticism and feels neither threatened nor moved by it. He is not one of such politicians that display so much pettiness and hostility that is simply not productive. Surely, Nigeria will be better under him.

PoliticsFG Discovers Fresh 15,000 Ghost Pensioners by argon500(op): 6:27am On Feb 27, 2015
The on-going pensioners verification exercise by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, has revealed 15,000 ghost pensioners, an indication that massive frauds still exist in the Defined Pension Scheme of the Federal Government.

According to the Director-General of PTAD, Mrs. Nellie Mayshak, who spoke at a stakeholders’ forum in Abuja, yesterday, managing the scheme in the past one year “was very rough” but said her team was determined to give pensioners a new lease of life.
She said there was no alternative to a permanent verification exercise to be sure that pension was paid to genuine beneficiaries.
Mayshak disclosed that in its efforts to clean up the system, her team felt that the data presented by various pension offices were “too bogus” and that when it started it decided to verify 771 pensioners in the Police Pension, her office discovered that they were only 237, insisting: “We really have to clean up the data.
“We will do verification but we are doing it differently. You don’t need to join queues and under the scorching sun; you don’t need to bring mats and all that. In fact, you don’t need to come to Abuja. We will come to you. We treat pensioners with dignity.
“We are on the cutting edge of ICT. You can fill out the complaint form on the Internet from the comfort of your living room or call our hotline and we will attend to you, promptly, without your travelling to Abuja.”
Mayshak said there was a total of about 350,000 pensioners that needed to be verified in the on-going exercise.
Addressing the pensioners, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said regular payment of pensions was a priority of the present administration.
She said: “President Goodluck Jonathan shares the feelings of our senior citizens and directed that they be treated with dignity. Consequently, we had to take actions to make sure that the pains which was associated with pensions does not continue.”

PDP don’t tell you about change because we aren’t bus conductors that ask for change – First Lady.

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has charged women in the country to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stressing that any woman who votes for All Progressives Congress, APC, is an enemy of herself.

Dame Jonathan, at Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, at the PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally in the state, while applauding the benevolence of the PDP administration to women in the country, cited the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria, YouWin and Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SUREP) as some of the empowerment programmes the President Jonathan administration was using to empower women and youths in the country.

She said: “The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow.

We, (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change.

“We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days. They keep saying they will do this and that. They should tell us what they have done for Nigerians while in office.

As for President Jonathan, he has vowed to do more when he is re-elected. “President Jonathan has brought a lot of innovation and empowerment programmes for us women. This is because no one loves the Nigerian woman more than Mr. President and the best way to pay him back is by re-electing him.”

In his remark, the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, while applauding the developmental achievements of President Jonathan, said: “When someone does well in office, you should return that person to office and that is why all Deltans are prepared to re-elect President Jonathan as President, come March 28.”

CelebritiesLupita Nyong'o $150,000 Oscar Dress Stolen (photo) by argon500(op): 3:23am On Feb 27, 2015
A $150,000 custom-made Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa dress, worn by actress Lupita Nyong'o at the Oscars, has been stolen in Hollywood.

The dress, studded with 6,000 natural white pearls, was taken from the London Hotel in West Hollywood when Nyong'o was out of the room.

The Kenyan won best supporting actress last year for Twelve Years a Slave and was a presenter at Sunday's ceremony.

People magazine named her the most beautiful person of 2014.

Sheriff's Lt William Nash said the dress appeared to be stolen on Wednesday evening and officers were checking CCTV footage.

On the red carpet on Sunday, Nyong'o, 31, told Associated Press: "I'm just wearing my diamonds and pearls. My homage to (musician) Prince."

She added of the dress: "We talked about it being fluid and liquid. I wanted it to be an homage to the sea."

No arrests have been made.

Calvin Klein has not commented.
