I had to login to reply this post. @OP, Asaba is a cool town. My wife and I love the place cos of its relative calm and security especially within the town. Rent is a bit higher when compared to other places around but one cant help but notice the fast pace at with it's developing. Marian Babangida road used to be a no-go area as at 2016 but now that's probably the most expensive neighborhood in Delta State.
As for hotels, depends on your taste. There r decent hotels for way cheaper prices although Qubes is quite nice with stable electricity supply but its on a very busy infant jesus road. Whenever I'm in Asaba, I use Eva Pleasure hotel on Usonia Street off Nnebisi road. Average price is 15k with stable 24/7 electricity supply and the ACs na blast. I know GQ apartments too off Squash Club road off Anwai road, with their cheapest rate at 15k as at 2022. Tho the room is abit small but the standards are topnotch n classy. I love Asaba!

First, only allow your meter provider official to inspect your meter, never allow those ones that wear uniform ie ikeja electric uniform to inspect your meter. They are not authorized to check your meter, bad ones among them use scope tk check your meter and then bypass it without your consent. They will they go behind your back to report you to meter official who will now fine you and put you on direct connection which means you will be getting huge bills to pay every month(the main motive).
Back to your matter, the guy that install your meter did you dirty. He was the one that bypass it without your consent then likely reported you meter officials. As you can see he is already helping you out to retrieve your wire.your wire is your property, they shouldn’t have taken it away. They should have used it connect you direct.
You can’t repair the meter anymore. It’s been deactivated from their own side.
Negotiate with them on the fine, pay it and request for another meter. That’s the only way out.

These Phcn are ripping people off but their time are coming to an end soon. Once states starts to oversee their activities themselves, hopefully things will change.

Abeg, what is a "meter provider official?" Do you know what the Nigerian Metering Code says about access to meter inspection and ownership? You are here advising a customer not to allow a uniformed staff of a Disco from accessing the meter. That is ignorance in full display. You are liable to be disconnected from supply if anyone hinders an identified staff from doing their job.

@OP, the issue here is not only the allegation of tampering but also a case of "overdraft" or negative reading. From the document issued to you, the officer is also stating that your meter read about 690units in the negative, meaning you were enjoying supply even after the last unit u vended ran out. In this case, the meter was supposed to cut supply but it did not maybe due to faulty relay or something else.

I don't know why the meter was removed and given to you but I would advise u to go their office as directed and request they show you the tampering in clear terms. You may record the exercise incase of further dispute. Also ask for confirmation of the negative units already consumed cos obviously you have not vended in a while which may have flagged your account.

Summarily, tampering is now a serious offence under the new electricity act so be careful make dem no use u shine.

As a married man to another: Sometimes you have to learn how to resist pressure from women! There are some fundamental wrongs with your story: 1.) You are not that close with your in-law which has made it quite difficult to gauge his behaviour and what is attitude would be if he pays such a significant sum in buying the car.
2.) You cant gauge his intentions or thoughts cos u were not initially a party to the discussions between your wife and her brother. Is he thinking that he wants to help his sister get a car or the car is for the family which of course puts it in your possession?
3.) Do not think that your wife is naïve, there might be a plan behind it. Even though you desire comfort for your family, you must also think about future events incase the ownership of the car becomes an issue.

You are a man and its on record that you did try to provide a car but it was an unfortunate venture, so its not as if you couldnt.

Depending on the strength of your self-pride, you may look at the following advices:
1.) Tell your wife to transfer the conversation between her and her brother to you, so that the guy can get a true picture of what is on ground.
2.) You may accept the 3.5m as loan to be paid to you with very liberal repayment plan.
3.) Tell your wife to inform her brother to use the 3.5m to get a car for her but then your claim to that car will be very limited (lest advisable option).

In all you do, do not give your in-law the impression he's buying a car for her sister.

Oh Lord!!! I cringed reading majority of the comments on here.
1. A 2yr old girl was SERIALLY raped by a 14yr old boy and no one is seeing the criminal angle first!
2. It is a case of criminal negligence on the part of the mother first cos it wasnt as if she was in the village to work but to care for her sick father. So she left her child to the hyena and focused only on her papa. Excellent!
3. The deed(s) were done and she still had d mind to abet the crime by not reporting to the police nor informing the father of the child. Criminal!!!
4. The man still asked her why she's looking so disfigured and she cooked a big fat lie to cover up instead of confessing and humbly seeking for forgiveness. Perhaps the husband might have not seen her as an enemy. They would've agreed on the next line of action.
5. By covering up a crime, she's vicariously liable for the rape and incest committed. She consciously threw her own family under the bus to save her incestuous brother.
6. Her arrest is legally proper, however it's either the man proceeds with case to court so that the police can arrest other culprits including the rapist and his mother.
7. Police detention is not a punishment and u should not abuse it. Its either u prosecute her in the Court or u withdraw the case so that she can be released.
8. There's no more friendship after police case, so have it in ur mind, that ur marriage is scarred for life and ur relationship with ur in-laws is as well. However, if u feel u need time to heal, goodluck but I would advise that for your mental health, happiness and the safety of ur child and Future children, you need to dissociate from your wife and her family.

Ur not a simp! U only find it difficult to extricate urself from the 2 year old "marriage". I appreciate that u wrote that long story to gv a background to ur personality and the type of life u run with wife and kids. However, the only thing that would lessen ur pain n obsession is TIME. Calm down and resist many the temptations of stalking your sidechick. Delete her number (not block) so u guys can still chat but u don't av to see her status updates. The ICC cannot even enforce its rulings unless the UN intervenes. Simply put, the laws of a sovereign nation is sacrosanct and is not subservient to any international treaties or agreements after all the US pulled out of UNICEF and the world didn't crash. So when you are arguing in a national court, don't try to impose any international treaties above even a local penal code else the Court is gonna whip u.

Honestly, i think you need to go back and read the details of the case including the claimants and defendants arguments so that u can appreciate their points before coming to argue. The defendants saying Twitter is against national security was a masterstroke and that effectively killed the case. If u did read the basis of judgement properly, you would see that that was the first point the judge highlighted before proceeding to other economic aspects of the ban and then the locus standi of the claimants. Even though the defendants should have gone further to present tax payments of other media companies which would have really helped to nail twitter but then the issue of national security is very touchy n sometimes vague because even the court does not have such info and may not require the defendants to state such in a public hearing. But basically, the court has said your claim to fundamental human rights is limited and thats applicable to all countries hence it used the phrase "not something new."
