RomanceRe: We Aren't Married But He Wants These From Me by asha01: 3:30pm On Feb 04, 2016
Selena06:
It is horrifying at times to state the length guys in relationships go to make their girlfriends do some things because they are dating.

There are relationships (not married) where the guy expects the lady to visit him every weekend, wash his clothes, cook for him and store in the refrigerator, clean the house and entertain his friends that may visit during her stay.

Sure, it is good helping your guy out but whereby he makes them compulsory and queries you when you fail to do them is not so cool although as they would say, different strokes for different folks.

NLanders, what's your take on this, is it right?
Meanwhile, I am new here. Show me some love grin
the act is to test if you are a good wife material.
don't blame d guy
its an opportunity for you to proof yourself, except you are not prepared to marry him which seems to be the case as you are complaining already.

Jobs/VacanciesHow To Answer The Question 'where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years?' At Interview by asha01(op): 10:51am On Feb 02, 2016
It may not seem like a tricky question, but your response to "Where do you see yourself in five years?" can make or break your interview.
According to David Wishon, chief recruiting officer at job-search site Happie:
The purpose of asking this common interview question is to understand whether a candidate is looking for a career rather than just a job, whether their goals align with the organization's goals, and whether they have a realistic plan for their future.
Dale Kurow, a New York-based executive coach, says your response to this question can also tell the company if you have the requisite work ethic, attitude, and loyalty to be a good hire in the long term.
Here's what hiring managers do and do not want to hear when they ask this question:
1. They want to know that you've put thought into your response
"Don't get caught without a long-term plan," Wishon says.
Show the interviewer that you have thought about this question and have a basic trajectory mapped out. But let them see that you're flexible.
"Everyone understands things can change, so strike a balance between being set on where you want to go and also understanding that the path may change," he says.
2. They want to know that you're driven, but that you have realistic goals
"Don't come off as overly ambitious," Wishon says. "It's OK to mention some future promotions within the organization, but it may be overkill to say you want to be CEO in five years if you're applying to an entry-level job."
3. They want to hear that you are willing to pay your dues before expecting a promotion
"The hiring manager doesn't want to hear that you are looking to move up to a higher-level position within a year or that you want to become eligible for your boss's job," Kurow says.
Don't threaten anyone else's career, and let them know that you realize it may take time, and a lot of work, before you'll move up.
"Emphasize your willingness to work on personal and professional development to progress your career path within the organization," Wishon adds.
4. They want to know that you're loyal and willing to make a commitment to the company for at least five years
Companies invest a great deal of time and money in recruiting and training candidates, and they don't want to lose their investment in a hire who's going to leave in a year or two, Kurow says.
That's why it's best to avoid saying that you hope to be at another company, in another industry, or even a drastically different role than the one you're applying for — even if it's true.
5. They want to hear how the company and role you're applying for fits into your long-term goals
"Make sure the role you are interviewing for is at the foundation of the answer you provide," Wishon suggests. "Tell them that how you can achieve your long-term goals by performing this role to a high standard."
Also share how you plan to contribute to, and grow with, the organization over the next few years, Kurow adds.
If you want to make sure your five-year plan is aligned with theirs, take the lead and ask what results the interviewer is looking for from this role, Wishon suggests.
"This will help to best understand the progression and potential timeline," he concludes.

BusinessRe: Nigeria’s Oil Fields Face Shutdown Amid Price Slump by asha01: 9:20am On Jan 19, 2016
BLWeb:
I agree with you but doing this is going to be in the long term. What i suggest the FG does quickly is to build human resource capacities. Invest heavily in building small businesses and give out loans with zero interest and grants for small businesses to start local production and manufacturing what we need, and also the FG should declare an emergency on agriculture, encourage the youths to go into farming, the positive effect will be a cushion to battle austerity in the long term.

What will work faster is encouraging youths who are starting out as entrepreneurs and give them room to shine, in turn they will train others and the circle keeps on going till the only word we hear is small businesses and entrepreneurship.
This is a very practical approach to shift our focus from oil boom to agric boom though it will take a gradual process, if only our leaders will reason in this direction.

Well he did it to gain their support, unfortunately he never knew he can never get their support no matter what he does for them except give them back power. that was his weakest point, if only he knew this. they used it against him greatly. even when he tried to change the situation of the Almagaris they saw it as insult and used them against him during 2015 election.

asha01:
There is a friend of mine who confided in me because of a lady who has been married for past nine years without a child. Recently, due to pressure from her husband who even gave her ultimatum to become pregnant before April or leave his house, she has made up her mind to do anything in order to keep her marriage.
She called my friend who was her course mate back in school and requested to see him. In the course of their discussion, she narrated all she has been through for lack of a child of her own.
At a point her younger sister became pregnant and offered to give the child to her due to what she is going through. But God intervened, as they were planning on how to bring the sister to their home and take care of her till she put to birth, a man proposed and accepted the sister’s pregnancy.
They then went for plan B by adopting a boy who is growing up as their child now. Thank God for His intervened because the sister or someone might come in future to claim the child had they accepted the sister’s child, my thought though.
However, the husband is still not contented, he wants his own child. Meanwhile whenever treatment or checkup is recommended, the wife will go but the husband will refuse to go for the checkup saying he is ok that if the wife is in doubt she should recommend a woman for him to try, though the wife has been pregnant severally including last year but had miscarriages.
Obviously, her discussions with my friend suggested that she wants him to sleep with and get her pregnant for her husband also to save her marriage.
Please, what solution can save her marriage and also my friend from this act of adultery since both are married to different people? Please help with suggestions.
it is said that a problem shared is half solved.
you are all wonderful with your matured comments.
I will allow my friend to see all your suggestions and probably share them with the woman.
am still expecting more comments

PoliticsRe: David Mark Campaign Rice, Salt Flood Otukpo, To Construct Four Roads Before Xmas by asha01: 2:44pm On Dec 01, 2015
DONSMITH123:
Following the nullification of the 5th term election of former Senate President, David Mark by the Appellate Court, the campaign team of the ousted legislator have flooded the city of Otukpo with iodized salt, rice and tin tomatoes.

This is just as the Akpegede-born retired soldier has also commenced work on four different roads in the heart of the city.

A source told DAILY POST that among the roads billed for reconstruction are Otukpa, Owukpa and two others dominated by Idoma enone (west).

Mark has been facing criticisms for refusing to attract develop to the area, which is populated by most of his political rivals.

DAILY POST gathered that the road construction begins today, December 1 and are expected to reach completion before Christmas. The project is under the supervision of a certain Hon. Abel.

“As we speak, they have blocked Otukpa, Owukpa roads. The work is expected to start today, December 1 and reach completion before Christmas. We wonder where they have been,” the source said.

The rice crested with Mark’s picture and inscriptions that read, “Vote back senator Mark. If we retain him, the nation will retain us,” were apparently reserved after the general elections.

Already, Mark’s campaign team has been busy distributing the food items to residents of Otukpo.

It was gathered that while some rejected the ‘Greek gifts’ others accepted them and thanked the Okpokpowulu for remembering them.

Mark and Onjeh are expected to return to the polls after the Court of Appeal sacked him for rigging his way in.

PoliticsBuhari Shrinks Ministeries Further by asha01(op): 12:34pm On Nov 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari may have successfully slashed the federal ministries to 25 from 29 ahead of today’s inauguration for the 36 incoming ministers.

The Punch reports that the ministries of police affairs, aviation and special duties appear to have been scrapped while ministries of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Works have been merged to become Ministry of Works and Housing.

In the same vein, the information, culture, national orientation and tourism ministries have been collapsed into one Ministry of Information and Culture while the Ministries of Sports as well as Youth Development have also been merged to form the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.

Among other mergers, the Ministry of Aviation is now under the Ministry of Transportation, as the president retired 17 permanent secretaries and announced the appointment of 18 new ones in a decision taken on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.

This indication is further fueled by the announcement of the appointment and deployment of permanent secretaries by President Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.

According to a top government official who spoke with The Punch’s correspondent on Tuesday: “the pattern of the list you see in the statement may be a sign of what to come as far as the number of ministries to be maintained by the President are concerned.”

The President was last week presented with the list of screened ministerial nominees by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and hosted the incoming ministers to a retreat.

During the two-day event, President Buhari warned the ministers over their foreign trips and asked them to avoid waste and shun impunity as they work together to build the country.

Being recently churned out by NYSC, on October 15th of this month. I have always heard about how precarious it was to get a job in this country without connections, but I did not actually know the gravity of it until now. Armed with my 2.1 certificate from OAU (The best University wink) and my NYSC discharged certificate I thought now I have arrived to become gainfully employed.

I left Lagos for Abuja just 2 days after my POP, alas, after sending out countless applications and applying for any job that fits my criteria, I have not even been called for a single interview!!!.

I was swayed after a week and thought to myself, if I wouldn't be called for interviews I would go in search of the companies my self and make an appearance. I was Wrong sad. I am not really conversant with Abuja very well, but i was determined to go in search of a job physically instead of gazing at my laptop all day long. I dressed in my best, looked very corporate even wore my corporate court shoes that i painfully bought from my alawee in the hope that when I get called for interview by Standard chartered bank or PWC grin, I would launch it. Anybody that met me on the way would think I am a business executive,on my way to seal a contract deal.

Started the long journey to town as I stay close to the airport. on getting there I started from Wuse zone 3, as I had earlier sourced from the internet the addresses of companies that had posted vacancies in Abuja. My plan was to go and submit my CV in person .Unfortunately for me I was even unable to locate the offices as, the Address given on the internet did not even correspond. mogbe moment was activated as I was lost, broke and on heels with no direction. I was being turned back at most of the offices, that was when I realized the gravity of being an unemployed person. At a point removed my shoes and changed to my sanders as i had packed them in my bag. Dejected and sad, I turned back home. And here I am at home again. Glued to my laptop and scanning for job again. It is indeed pathetic.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria ‘Hires Mercenaries’ To Battle Boko Haram - Vanguard by asha01: 4:54pm On Oct 23, 2015
alcmene:
Nigeria has hired mercenaries to combat Boko Haram as military chiefs face a December deadline to crush the militants, according to senior military sources.

Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency, reports that the mercenaries, estimated at around 250 personnel and hired from South Africa-based private contractor Specialized Tasks, Training, Equipment and Protection (STTEP), are being deployed along with fighter jets in Operation Fire Force, a source at Nigeria’s defense headquarters said on condition of anonymity.

“The mercenaries have been reengaged and their platforms are being deployed,” the source said. “By platforms, I mean fighter jets, helos [helicopters], coms [communication], surveillance, medics, etc.”

STTEP includes veterans from the South African apartheid era who will work with and train a Nigerian strike force, according to the source.

Another army source confirmed the development to Anadolu Agency. “There is definitely something happening in that direction,” the source said, again on condition of anonymity.

According to STTEP’s official website, the company’s trainers and advisers are drawn from “conventional, clandestine, and covert units of the pre-1994 South African Defense Force”.

It claims to have a proven track record of success in Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and Central and South America.

Describing the use of mercenaries to fight militants as “shameful” during the March 2015 election campaign, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the practice. Buhari, a retired general, said the practice represented the depth of weakness of the Nigerian army.

Asked why the Buhari administration is again deploying mercenaries, the defense HQ source said it appeared to be the most practical option if headway was to be made against militants whose guerilla tactics are new to the Nigerian military.

Nigeria claimed significant success against the militants in the run-up to the March election, with some analysts crediting the mercenaries.

Boko Haram threat

Boko Haram has emerged as a serious threat in Nigeria. More than 1,700 people have been killed since Buhari took office on May 29, according to an Oct. 7 report from the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law. Since then, more than 100 have died in suicide bombings in Borno and Yobe states.

According to the army HQ source, the Buhari administration initially terminated the mercenary contract because it was “opaque and without accountability”. However, a new agreement was reached to boost the counterinsurgency operation.

“As it stands now, huge amounts of monies are owed to the contractors as fulfillment for the previous engagement,” the HQ source added. “So they are starting a new engagement for an initial period of three months. As for their outstanding balances, investigations are being carried out to ensure everything is above board.”

The Nigerian military did not respond to Anadolu Agency’s request for comment.

However, presidential spokesman Garba Shehu denied the government was engaging mercenaries again.

“It is true that the previous administration hired South African mercenaries to fight Boko Haram,” he said. “They, however, left with the government that brought them.”

“Since coming into office, this government did not have any engagement with mercenaries of any kind and there are no plans to do so.”

Siphiwe Dlamini, a spokesman for the South African National Defense Force (SANDF), said his country did not have any troops in Nigeria but could not say if private mercenaries were operating there.

“I wish to reiterate there are no SANDF personnel in Nigeria fighting Boko Haram,” he told Anadolu Agency. “If there are South Africans who are there as you allege they are not our members but private citizens.”

“I cannot comment on what private citizens are doing in any part of the world.”

STTEP did not respond to emailed requests for comment.

Earlier this year, South Africa’s Defense Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula issued a stern warning to South African mercenaries, saying they had no business in Nigeria and should be arrested on their return.

“Now that the matter has been brought to our attention, it is [up to us] to verify that information as the government,” she told broadcaster SABC at the time. “The police have a responsibility to make sure that when they come back these people are arrested.”

South African law forbids its citizens from participating in foreign wars. Most South African mercenaries are believed to be soldiers who fought for the apartheid regime.

Impending campaign

The Nigerian army has spoken about impending military deployments against Boko Haram, saying in a statement over the weekend that the country’s sovereignty was under threat.

“The next few days would be crucial to the operation Lafiya Dole [Peace by Force],” army chief Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai said in a message to troops. “It is also crucial to our country Nigeria. Our sovereignty as a nation is threatened.”

“The Nigerian army and indeed the military as the symbol of our nationhood is being challenged. Our ability to stand and defeat the Boko Haram terrorists in the next few weeks will determine the future of our country.”

The use of mercenaries is not a new phenomenon in Nigeria’s conflicts. Hundreds of French mercenaries fought on the side of Biafran rebels against the Nigerian army in the late 1960s.

However, recall that President Muhammadu Buhari recently gave a December deadline to the military to end the insurgency ravaging the north-east.

But in a dramatic u-turn last Monday, Service Chiefs told the President that their effort to completely rout out Boko Haram insurgents in the insurgency-ravaged region, may not be feasible after all, as it was being threatened by weather and logistics.
