PoliticsRe: Wike Dissolves Board Of Greater Portharcourt Authority!! by asha80(m): 9:28am On Jun 01, 2015
phantom:
The Rivers State Government has announced the dissolution of the Board of Directors of the Greater Port Harcourt Authority with immediate effect.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday evening by Mr. Emma Okah on behalf of the state government, said the former administrator of the authority had been directed to handover the administration and all property of the authority in her possession to the secretary of the authority with immediate effect.

The statement also said the state government had also directed refuse disposal contractors to resume work immediately to ensure that Port Harcourt, the state capital, returns to its former garden city status, which the statement alleged, was neglected by the former government of Rotimi Amaechi.

In the past one week, most part of the state capital has been littered with uncleared refuse dumps.

In some areas, refuse has taken up most of the roads, increasing traffic congestion in the metropolis.

tribunals can no longer declare people winners....highest they can do is nullify the election and call for a rerun

Every philanthropic organisation has vision and mission. Emeka ofor has chosen polio as his vision, why the beefhuh Polio is not prevalent here so why shouldn't he extent a helping hand to the north?

Yes he owns EEDC and any community between orifite and okija enjoys 22hrs of power supply everyday, I enjoy it so am a witness.

We should learn to appreciate these guys for the little they are giving out already and not criticise them. They can't possibly do all. The question should be what you are doing for your own immidate community, no matter how minute.
eedc is messing up in other parts of its jurisdiction

Asari should have started by siting his investments in Niger Delta now. Forget Uwazuruike and his MASSOBians they are con artist, am Pro Biafra but Uwazuruike won't lead me neither will Nnamdi Kalu do that.

Biafra should start by present Igbo leaders to start building sustainable projects while gradual relocation of businesses and investments follow suit.
Forget Nnamdi Kanu he is overbearing and grandstanding is why I don't listen to Radio Biafra, he should it down, Biafra is not hate but consciousness, we won't succeed through hating everybody but we won't embrace everybody as well.
what you just said here is the same feeling I have always had about uwazurike and that nnamdi of a person

LSPDC build housing Estates and collect the rent as well as maintain the Estates, if Anambra properties and development coy can build skyscrapers and collect the rent and still oversee the maintenance of the buildings they are all the same.

Anambra economy need to evolve, I don't know if our governor and his cronies have vision to reposition Anambra economy to balance between formal and informal sector.

ANSG is yet to organize an economic summit in the state, what has the government done to make whitecollar jobs to start coming in, the state still collect taxes and levies openly without digitalizing it, look at our cities with billboards, signposts and posters everywhere littering the cities, churches, hospitals and schools are in residential buildings.

AnSG should embrace digital lifestyle completely, open Onitsha and Nnewi for more education facilities to penetrate.
question is why doesn't lspdc build skyscrapers? As rich as they are and as demanding skyscrapers are in Lagos they dont build it...that tells you something...the maintenance is the koko..for eg who maintains the elevator of the skyscrapers?govt?abeg oooo..maintaining common estates is a problem let alone skyscrapers...we all know our mindsets concerning govt institution ,outfits and building in these parts.

Am not an architect or Urban Development Planner but I can develop a global city for Anambra State or any SE state with just two weeks in the city.

That Market under the Bridge shouldn't have been there if our leaders were visionary, I blame Pita Obi for that, that market is an eyesore to the reception of the state.
I have seen that market under the bridge and when I first saw it I was mad...who the hell gave the approval for a market under the bridge?I have always held the view that our people need iron hand on how we are governed because we no dey hear word

What does it cost to build a skyscraper, the only thing is lack of vision among our leaders, Anambra should float and investment development coy that will build about two or three skyscrapers and be collecting the rentage.

Lagos state has LSPDC that build Estates and collect rents, why can Anambra do such and develop that Nwangene Lake into a thriving business and tourism hub sourrounded by markets.
the thing is does lspdc build skyscrapers?just asking because to me building it is much less a problem than maintaining it..skyscrapers I see in Lagos are usually built by corporations and multinationals or extremely wealthy individuals that have outfits..another thing you have to consider is does onitsha have a whole lot of white collar job outfits to occupy those skyscrapers?
PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by asha80(m): 9:59am On May 31, 2015

Yes its because Nigeria leaders are not innovative they don't know way out of their plights.

Anambra should invest in technical and vocational education, I made a case for a poly in Onitsha and Nnewi but someone rejected it.

Technical and vocational education are bluecollar in their outlook and Anambra people being innovative and ingenious need so such to thrive instead of waiting for foreign investors to come.

Many countries have better climates for businesses and investments but the only thing Nigeria has is big market advantage.
We need to think about technical and vocational education, polytechnics and monotechnics should come into it, that Metallurgy Training Institute in Onitsha should be expanded to accommodate many students, Anambra deserve a steel company and oil servicing firms.
I rejected that poly thing for Onitsha and nnewi strictly because because there are a whole lot of polytechnics around the country but still the results are the same..i don't believe in name anymore and just tagging a school polytechnic does not automatically change the quality of products...if the metallurgical institution in Onitsha is well run I dont it matters what name it is called..yes anambra and I suspect abia too need a whole of centers for skill acquisition because of the nature of the people and economy of their states...not everyone would acquire a university degree..not everyone is even cut out for that..looking at some people I know that rushed to enter university I just shake my head because they have no biz being there..look at a country like Germany where skill acquisition centers seem to outnumber their universities..as for steel companies or oil servicing firms that is for the private sector to do although I suspect that oil servicing firms sooner than later might spring up around that aguleri axis

Anambra need a serious thinktank group that will featuring in TV and radio stations discussing how things are done in contemporary societies.

Most of ABS featured programs here are missing a lot of ingredients, nobody has made case for tourism in Anambra, do you know that Nwangene Lake at the heart of Onitsha can be refilled and erect skyscrapers facing the River Niger and Asaba.
We need to develop that lake by mapping it out for skyscrapers that will be housing major offices in Anambra State.

Do you know the Nwangene Lakehuh
who will build the skyscrapers?

Vocational skills are needed if you expect foreign industries to keep coming into state....Skills like certified welders, heavy equipment operators like crane operator, bulldozers, tractor and trailer drivers, maintenance engineer , machinist,Upholstery, shoemaking, construction technicians and so forth. We need to train more people that will qualify and match the workforce that the economic boom will bring. I like the fact that Obiano is thinking in this direction but we need world standard trade school where these people will be nurtured and made. In New York for instance,a certified carpenter with a certificate makes up to $40 dollars per hour. These are some very important skilsl that will alleviate our people from poverty. University education is not for everybody and certainly not a sure way to success and even so, 60% of Nigeria can't afford quality education if we upgrade.
a lot of Nigerian education is geared towards clerical work and the likes..we tend to look down upon handwork or aka oru people

N4 billion naira is too much for just renovations of already existing 4-5 storey structure. Infact, N4 billion will build two of that structure again.

However, if they want to transform and furnish the existing hotel into a true 5 star, it may require up to that amount to do it well.
