praise010:
The Ngige era is different. Then, there is no time limit for the tribunal. It took over 3 yrs before the election was annulled and so Ngige had time to work.

Today, the tribunal must decide within 180 days which have started running already. So what can Ikpeazu do within this few days.

Moreover, the death burden he inherited is quite enormous coupled with the fall in monthly allocation to states. Were is he going to get money to performe Ngige way?

I have reason to believe that T.A Orji is more dangerous than Emeka Offor and Andy Uba combined. So the yoke on Ikpeazu neck is likely much more heavy than that of Ngige.

Finally, Ikpeazu is not an intellectual like Ngige. The House of Assembly (I was told) has APGA in the majority.

I submit that both Ikpeazu and Orji will be boothed out this year.

Otti will laugh last and he who laughs last.....

He should create the awareness like Obi used to do, Ministries of commerce, industries, trades, investments, and aggencies like ANSIPPA should start organizing seminars for traders every two weeks, chamber of commerce in Nnewi, Onicha and oka should almagamated to start functionig like the one in Lagos.

What they need is orientation and atitudinal change, seminars, workshops and symposuims are great avenues to make these happen
well those close to the governor should let know about this

I think we start campaigns to let our rich people to start going cooperate, the bane of Igbo businesses is one man business, sole proprietorship.
Look at the way Ekenedili chukwu fizzle out without any ashes to to fall on, my friend was telling me that CN Okoli is almost gone.
That is why I don't like discussing Igbo businesses because our style and outlook seems antiquated to an informed mind.
I can understand the the need for Igbo businessmen to go cooperate for those into service delivery like abc transport or those into manufacturing like neimeth and cutix but not sure about igbos that are into trading though..moreover those most of those Igbo guys into trading are at best semi literates

PoliticsRe: Why The Yorubas May Lose Out Under Buhari by asha80(m): 10:27am On May 14, 2015
semitunde:
This has been reharshed severally.

It is expected that the presidency, of whatever party, delivers in its promises, or atleast try to.

It is also expected for it to have most of those it deploys to achieve its promised objectives, from same party or others chosen from outside, in so far as the job given is performed. This is done all over the world.

The Igbo may not get many political appointment like ministers because there aren't many of their representatives in APC to choose from in the first place. And in search of round pegs for round holes, the ones available my have other candidates inside or outside of APC, better fitted for such line or skill.

The Igbo will also not be in line for political leadership like the senate simply because there are no reps for that. The ones there are not of APC (and it will be fool hardy to think ppl will back any of them when there are others of APC who are in line for same posts)

In essence, what many, mostly Yoruba posts have tried to explain is that, Igbo have been doing the same thing theyve done for years, political miscalculation.

Let me paint a scenario. If what the op postulates come to be true, and the Yoruba are left in the cold, who do you think the Igbo will follow?Instead of looking at the situation as an opportunity to pull the Yoruba (who they now share a high level of mutual dislike) close; they will go north! Because that is the defaut setting and its the one that will spite the Yoruba the most- this they will enjoy.

teufelein:
Paramount Ruler of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, Chief Daniel Abomtse, on Tuesday lamented that Fulani herdsmen have allegedly sacked the Tor Tiv, Dr Alfred Torkula, from his palace.

Chief Abomtse made the allegation in Makurdi when he was paid a courtesy visit by the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Benue State Council.

The traditional ruler of the Tiv nation hails from Guma LGA, one of the councils in the state worst hit by suspected Fulani herdsmen, where his family compound was razed last year.

According to Abomtse, "As I speak with you, Fulani insurgents have taken over the village of Tor Tiv. His Royal Majesty, Dr Alfred Akawe Torkula, can no longer attend burial and other functions in his community. They walk freely with guns and all I know is that the invasion is a conspiracy against Tiv people and Benue communities.

"These insurgents, who disguise as herders, confiscate everything belonging to our people; and if nothing urgently is done, it therefore means that Benue State, and by implication, Nigeria, is sitting on a keg of gun powder due to our strategic location".

Regretting that nine districts in his domain are currently occupied by the herdsmen, whom he noted were not "ordinary" nomads, the paramount ruler claimed, "these are trained snipers; they go around with sophisticated weapons and what we notice is that they are not the ordinary nomads we know.

"We are also of the opinion that the Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura, be made to answer questions as the Chief Security Officer of the state from where these gunmen come into Benue," he declared.

CYPRIAN EKWENSI: BURNING GRASS

POSTED BY ENEFAA ON JAN 10, 2015 IN LITERATURE

Burning Grass was first published in 1962 and like a lot of novels by Cyprian Ekwensi, the plot takes place in the northern part of Nigeria. This is the third novel in our series on works by Cyprian Ekwensi.
Mai Sunsaye is the chief of his Fulani cattle herding settlement called Dokan Toro. He is a doctor to the people, a specialist in making charms and amulets and also has the ability to tell the people their fortunes. He is like a general practitioner, a psychiatrist and a fortune teller all rolled into one. Probably your typical native doctor back in the day.
He is the leader of his village Dokan Toro and although he is widely respected by the villagers, he is engaged in a power struggle with Chief Ardo who wants to be the chief of the settlement. Ardo inflicts Sunsaye with Sokugo, a charm of the Fulani. Sokugo Magic causes men to wander off deserting their families and leaving their previous lives behind. Men suffering from Sokugo are also unable to settle in a place for a few days. If a man suffering from Sokugo refuses to continue his wandering he falls seriously ill.
Sunsaye deserts his family and sets off on an aimless quest. He lies to himself that he’s going in search of a lady that fled with his son Hodio but which he has promised to bring back home to his last son Rikku. With Sunsaye out of town, Ardo is able to run Sunsaye’s family out of Dokan Toro and make himself the leader of the village.
The plot from then on follows Sunsaye on his wanderings through several villages, characters and his eventual cure from Sokugo, reuniting with his family and eventual return to Dokan Toro.
In my junior secondary school days, any student you saw in different places within a short time span and who did not not seem to have a clear purpose to his appearances in different locations was said to be suffering from “Sokugo” the wandering disease. At the time I thought this was something from a Chinua Achebe story. It didn’t even cross my mind that this was from a Cyprian Ekwensi story. I think it is safe to assume that this was part of the senior secondary school literature curriculum because I never came across this book as my literature studies ended in junior secondary school.
It is a fun read but definitely not one of my best Cyprian Ekwensi novels.

This post by Enefaa in the blog brings back memories of my childhood when i discovered Cyprian Ekwensi novels! His books magically transported me to the north even though i had never set foot there at the time! Back then i had a good impression of the place....though it was before i started reading and learning of the negative stuff!

Anyone know why Ekwensi set the plots/stories of many of his novels in the north.....was he born there?
ekwensi was born and brought up in the north.

There is nothing APGA in Alex Otti and nothing more PDP in Dr Ikpeazu compared to a great PDP financier and benefactor like Alex Otti.

This election was a reminiscence of 2003 Otu Onu reawakening hence the turnout in Ngwa dominated areas for Dr Ikpeazu.

The Ngwas have everything to lose had they missed this opportunity hence for the peace of our fatherland and peaceful co-existence of the Igbos, I adjure you to celebrate with the Ngwas and pray for Dr Ikpeazu's success in this recession as he repositions Abia State from obscurity to limelight.

The Election in Abia State is not between PDP and APGA rather between Ngwa/Ohafia people vs other citizens who are wealthier and constitute minority in the real sense on it hence APGA can't win.

Obingwa LGA voters turn out is 60% which is 84,000 out of 139,000
so it is no longer ohuhus vs ngwa but ngwa/ohafia vs others now abi?
Automatically ohafia people have been subtracted from the ohuhus because the pdp deputy gov candidate is from ohafia as is if apga deputy is not also from ohafia
