shachris: Goodluck to you too, brother. All what i am asking is that we become one. lets throw this towel of tribalism aside and work together towards building a greater economy. At the end of the day, politics should be for the common good, and not ethnic good. if you do not understand what I meant by good luck pls ask...what I mean is good luck on this your pattern of trying to woo votes from south east which I do not think would work...there are other ways and patterns of doing such. |

shachris: Take it or leave it, the hausa's control the economy of Nigeria. Nigerian Economy is not taxed based. So middle class do not like have a say.
Back to your question. Before the discovery of Crude oil, what was our major export commodity? Which region was its major producer?
I brought up slave trade because it brought in foreign currencies into the economy. It boosted our foreign exchange. ok I can see where you are going..goodluck |
Politics › Re: The Road To Greatness For The IGBO Nation - Shachris by asha80(m): 11:30am On Jan 25, 2015 |
shachris: Good question. Before the market, igbos were the richest people in Nigeria. An instance is the late DIM ojukwu. The father of late chukwuemeka Ojukwu. Igbo were the ones that introduced trading in Oil, which formed bulk of our export, during the British rule. Igbos also engaged in Slave trades with the Europeans. Even though this trade is inhumane, it was bringing in much money at the time, much more than the other regions could affored. The truth is, we built the Nigerian economy. your assertion that because because ojukwu was the richest Nigerian in his time and hence igbos were richest is funny and laughable...check the list of 10 richest Nigerians at time and tell me that apart from ojukwu and akwiwu which other igbo name do you see on the list? So you feel that having one person from a tribe as the richest on the country automatically means the tribe is the richest?..so a dangote being the richest in Nigeria automatically means the fulani are the richest people in Nigeria at the moment?...let me ask you which ethnic group has the highest middle class in present day Nigeria?that is where you gauge real richness and not one big billionaire surrounded by thousand or hundrednaires....as for slave trade you display ignorance there as ijaws would have one or two things to say about that...i wonder why you would even mention slave tread in economic issues of modern Nigeria...can you tell me how slave trading helped in building Nigerian economy?...you still did not tell me how igbos have not intergrated into Nigerian economy |

shachris03: Before anything, I want to say this, IF YOU ARE NOT IGBO, YOU ARE TOTALLY MISSING.
I am a passionate igboman. If i am giving the chance, over a million reincarnations, i would always choose to be an Igboman. of course you know why.
Now let me get down to the main purpose of this post.
You see, after the world war, the wronged and belligerents in Asia could have chosen to lick thier wounds and seethed in resentment. They could have chosen to do away with anything American, and their relations could have been poisoned by raw memories of bloody atrocities and brutal battles, but also centuries of historic animosities and perceived injustices. Especially for those in Japan.
But instead, they chose to make money. The Japanese set aside the two atomic bombs dropped on their civilians and embraced the U.S. Eventually China buried its cold war rhetoric and bitter recollections of wartime invasion and opened up to trade and and investment, with both US and Japan. And who is having the last laugh now?
For the past 60 years, Asia has favoured economic integration over political rivalry. This is what i suggest the igbo Nation to do. The war has come and gone. We all have counted our loses and licked our wounds. But after the war, what next? We need to regain back what we have lost. We need to open up our once flourishing economy. There was a time in Nigeria that the igbos controlled the Nigerian economy. You cannot mention economy without mentioning the igbo. But what has happened now? We have been shut off from the very same markets that we established.
How do we regain this lost glory? Through economic integration. Lets forget about what Hausa and Yoruba did to us. The truth is, we need them expand. We cannot continue to shoot at each other and expect to make advancements.
Its either we choose to forget the past and go on to build the greatest economy in the whole of Africa or we choose resentment and remain stagnant as we have been since after the war. The choice it ours. just curios which economy has the igbos being shut off from and what do you mean igbos have not yet intergrated in Nigeria economically?what markets did igbos establish that they are no longer in control of?..we are talking economics and biz here right and not politics? |

FolarinLondon: Excuse me!!!! Did you just vomit all these assumptions or fairytale from your progenitors who wrote their own stories? No way!!! No judge has ever been allowed to judge his own case; another does Sir. Hello!!!! Are u there? Pick your pop corn, drink and follow me in this journey of dismantling Nigeria history. What makes Igbos naive than any other ethnic group in the whole wide world is their inability to ask questions from their progenitors with open mind, fairness, impartiality and of course neutrality; they just believed and followed. Having said that, Igbos are not that stupid, they know what they are doing and more often than not, their sense of reasonings are being controlled by pure tribalism; that is what it is. The evidence to support my point is all over the internet; N'digbo as a cultural and tribal group dictates where you go just like Hausa/Fulanis................You might fault my write ups as a patriotic Igbo man but the truth and facts will continue to stare you in the face
Let's quickly answer these simple questions before we proceed in our journey to demystify the mystery of Nigeria history Sir: If you are truly honest person not tribal jingoist, pls answer these following questions and tell me what you think............
What political party formed the first political alliance with Hausas/Fulanis party from the South despite the former party leader is far more educated than the latter party leader?
Who killed other regional leaders under the pretence of Revolution? The revolution that didn't kill the same people who formed the same Igbo politicians in the same corrupt government. Who does this for crying out and loud? What we had then was Parliamentary/Westminster system of government, only two political parties formed that government; one party led by Nnamdi Azikwe and other was led Ahmadu Bello but shockingly the politicians from the part of the coup plotters in the same corrupt government were spared, not touched, exonerated as a good citizens I presumed.
Who was the acting prime minister after Tafawa Balewa was killed? Igbo
Who became the first military leader/president? Igbo
A quick one about this Igbo regime; not only did he appointed his only Igbo brothers and sister to all the sensitive positions but equally sent the coup plotters to Eastern prison, compromising the integrity of Nigeria Army. As if that was not enough, he single-handedly subjugated our existing regional system of government then; pure federalism so as to control other regions which Hausas/Fulanis/Kanuris/Yorubas/Ijaws/Edos/Ibibios/Itsekris didn't do. Why Igbos at the central of all these? No Igbo man has been fair to himself to ask questions
In second Republic, who was the Vice president? Igbo
Who came up with Unitary system of government that was inherited by Hausas/fulanis? Igbo
How come the same peole with born to rule mentality(Hausas/Fulanis) agreed to regional government in 60s? That was what was sold to you by your forefathers who wants you consistently in war with these people for their own reason
How come the same people agreed to share/rotate power between the south and the north prior to 1999 election so as to do away with the same cheap assertion southerners have tagged them with?
How come they voted for Abiola in millions despite their born to rule mentality?
How come they allowed a southerner in person OBJ to rule over them for 8yrs before you southerners bleeped them up as usual..
How come the same people allowed someone(Gowon) from middlebelt to rule over them despite the fact that they are thousands of them in the military who could occupy that position
How come the same people you despise so much allowed your brothers and sisters to be employed to their civil services until u started calling them names which led to the pogrom?
Bro, pick up neutral books and read about how Ojukwu was supported by other nations with personnel and of course ammunitions. You don't even need to go far, google it.....
And as regards the war, I have never seen anywhere in the history of humans even in the Holy bible that a fighting civilian gives his assumed enemies a clue as to how a war should/could be won.
In war, it's a war not friendly matches between Igbos and Yorubas, necessary measures are always put into war so as to win the war. You don't want to be part of a country but you want the same people you hate so much to feed you and your children for God sake. Who does this in a full war? Why can't America drop another chemical(To save the children and women) along with their atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima which instantly killed over 300,000 people including thousands of children and women. It's called War.
Holding Awolowo responsible is like holding my father responsible for the failures of your father or better still, is like Germany holding Churchill of Great Britain responsible for their woes in World war. Be real and honest with yourself;self appraisal as it were.......
Clamouring for another war is like our fathers proverb that says A child is allowed to swallow an apple seed as long as his anus is big enough for easy passage of the apple seed. Take a proper look at N'digbo map and tell me how they intend to execute their war to victorious level if there is a war today................War are not won by words of mouth and millions of ammunitions and missiles but by what you have upstairs. Germany have the same hope at Second World War but failed to consider some vital measures which I m not ready to spit out here. I don't need to be in military to know how to capture the whole Eastern region if there is any need for that. There are thousands of Awolowo today who are watching Igbos making all sort of threat just like the way Ojukwu was ranting in 60s but I pray it does not happen again cos then in 60s Yorubas people are not sensitive to Igbo utterances and political issues like today but if anything happen today, it won't be funny and I m not ruling you guys out, but hmmmmmm......................... That ll seal your fates in south west for life just like in the North. The only thing UN would be able to do is to let you have your Biafra nation, nothing more. Sudan and India is a typical example of what I m trying to say...... half education on an issue is bad |

I don't wish them any evil; was only stating the obvious bro and if you are in doubt, I ll advise you to visit Igboville and other Igbo fora to see how Hausas/Fulanis are spitting out their hatred in reaction to the utterances of Igbos
I have dated more Igbo and calaba girls than Yoruba girls
Looking at the southern part of the country, both nations-Yorubas and Igbos have collectively contributed towards the entity called Nigeria that predictable line of dating Igbo girls...some things don't change |

Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by asha80(m): 9:12am On Jan 23, 2015 |
centje: I would put it this way. Deviate from monocentrism approach to development [most states in Nigeria employ this approach] and employ polycentrism... in polycentrism concept, there is a big central node, in this case it's the state capital while smaller nodes of development are encouraged around the big nodes. The smaller ones are distributed in such a way that every 'part' of the state has such smaller nodes. Development spreads from the big node and at same time from the smaller nodes. It shouldn't be just about building road to these nodes, but a well thought out plan[master plan or blueprint] for each of the smaller nodes, taking into consideration the peculiar resources and challenges in the smaller nodes.
From Enugu state map below, and also what is physically on ground, you will notice that a lot of towns, mostly in Udi and Nkanu, are seriously benefiting from their close proximity to Enugu. Such areas may just require planning and be left to enjoy such benefits, while towns further away from the central are chosen as the smaller nodes but evenly distributed around the state. Such approach will not only distribute development but also fast track it.
I was surprised when I visited an inner part of Awgu and I couldn't get any Telecommunication service, both glo and Etisalat, not even MTN. And there was no electricity there too. I just couldn't believe there was still such a place in Enugu. somehow I just don't trust that gburugburu of a guy. |

Remarkable: well, it did cause an uprorar seeing all the names TA has been called...
but I honestly think it still does lead to progress... it just makes progress a bit slower.
for example, no umuahian will blink an eye if Ikpeazu focuses in Aba and doesn't even tar a road in Umuahia...
I see the problem with it though, there's many areas/towns/villages that need development... but then again... don't you think that if a governor tries to touch every nook and cranny of the state and every sector of those areas.. it will appear that he has not/is not accomplishing anything, and of course, the propaganda will start as well?... pls and pls do not fall for that if a gov spreads his development it would seems as if he is doing nothing...that is what ochendo and his likes has conditioned your mind to accept..do you travel outside abia for gods sake?In my state the only problem I have with rochas is the quality of some of his projects but to say he focused on only a part of the state?that's unthinkable for anyone to say so..what of the former gov of anambra that spread his development even more to the rural areas making those places to have equal development with others?why is one a gov of a state?is it not to develop the STATE?....if one wants to develop a particular lg why not become the lga chairman? What if a gov comes after someone focuses on aba fir eight yrs and decides to focus on abia north no matter any challenge aba or umuahia zones encounters?is that not after 16 yrs of neglect of umuahia zone?.is that what you want?...haba it does not lead to any progress unless u see a step forward and two step backwards as progress and make no mistake there is money to tackle all sectors and zones if you have a focused leadership and not one would do little job in his zone and pocket the rest of the money |
