Do jobs fall from heaven

If you fail to encourage local production, how do you think jobs will spring up

You guys insult the President over unemployment and when some of his policies will encourage job creation, you guys still oppose it

Igbos are not friendly enough to accommodate them...the truth is Igbos like to integrate into other people community, speak their language and behave well like the locals but back home rejects foreigners... I can hardly find any Yorubas that speaks Igbo... Hardly! But have many Igbo friends that speaks Yoruba better than I do. Yet we still manage to have Yoruba population in transport and building industry. The economic situation in the East is not as viable as in other region.

This cannot be said of the Hausa/Yoruba relationship.

90% of bread traders in the North are Yorubas who loved their host community with passion. They speak the language and behave like Hausas.
your post would have made sense if not that the Hausa population in Igbo cities and towns are quite high hence it nullifies the notion that igbos are not accomodating or do not accept foreigners.

There is nothing slow about the pace of work I saw when I passed through that road on Monday. The Arab contractor guys are working as if their lives depend on it, attacking the road from three different angles. The villagers are making brisk business from the serious construction too, there is a spot around Umuagwo where close to hundred villagers lined up by the side of road while bulldozers deposit huge rock particles from the excavated roads to them, they crack them into gravels and stones which they will later sell to builders.
I just wonder how someone can say Jonathan is losing woefully in Imo and you believe the rest of the nonsense he said.
I was actually not interested in the pdp and Jonathan angle of his yarns as quite frankly I am not interested in the presidential election..my mind is only on Imo and abia..that stretch of bad road along that owerri ph express isn't that long though and can be finished before June if arab contractors are really serious

I am in Owerri now. PDP is losing woefully in Imo State. Jonathan is losing because people now believe he is fighting Okorocha. Everywhere I enter its all about Rochas we know and from what I saw Okorocha has done well in every aspect. People are pro-Biafra and pro-Rochas. Biafran presence is everywhere in Imo with flags hanging everywhere even in the remote villages. I love being on Okorochas side after he won in 2011 and started well.

Key observations.

The Owerri-PH highway is experiencing some work but its epileptic and cannot be finished this year as against my belief of finishing it before February 14.

The Owerri-Orlu highway has only reached 60% dualisation. The pace of work is equally slow.

All the schools have reached 90% completion. I have not seen anyone below. More schools have been remodelled but in a different design.
wonder why pace of work on these roads should be slow during dry season

power HAS been decentralized already for some yrs now during the tenure of this administration that's why there's no more PHCN. School me if I'm wrong

Modified* pls explain what you mean by the "national grid issue" in relation to what the amiable prof (whom Musiwa describes as an illiterate) and atlwireless.

Thank
all power generated by any power plant in the country is channeled to a central national grid that is in turn redistributed all round the country rather than that power generated in that power plant being used within the geographical area that power is generated thereby reducing power loss during the transmission to the so called national grid

What is this decentralising power generation? Is power production currently centralised?
well maybe he is talking about the 'national grid' issue.

Not much is being heard of the PDP governorship candidate for Enugu state here in Lagos.Lagos is a metropolitan city and the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria. It is a home to many people who are not from the south western part of this country and it is indeed the centre of exellence and a habitat for many wise and articulate men and women.it is on that note that most politicians especially the governorship canditates reach out to their own here in Lagos.I am therefore using this opportunity to request for official presentation of Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the PDP governoship candidate to Enugu State community here in Lagos. Our influence is crucial in any serious decision being taken in our great state.
to be factual he can afford not to come to Lagos for your influence because opposition in Enugu is almost non existent.

OBIANO APPRECIATES PENSIONERS, GIVES OUT RICE

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has distributed the first set of 2,660 bags of rice to pensioners in the State. Performing the function at Independence Square, Amawbia, Governor Obiano said the welfare of pensioners, who served the State faithfully in the past, would remain a priority throughout the life span of his administration.

The beneficiaries are retired primary school teachers and local government workers from Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia and Njikoka local government areas.

The Governor recalled that on inception his administration offset N1.8b pension arrears and had since maintained regular monthly payment in line with his promise to deliver on physical and human infrastructure. He restated the resolve of his government to give Awka a befitting capital status and announced that work would soon commence on the Ukwu – oji Isi – agu road.

Obiano urged the people to give APGA resounding victory in the coming election to consolidate good governance in the state.

The State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mrs Azuka Enemuo said over ten thousand pensioners would benefit from the exercise across the State. Enemuo recalled that APGA governments in the State had paid over N42b pension arrears owed since 1999 during which time, she said, the retired workers suffered untold hardship. She disclosed that the state secretariat of the pensioners’ association has been completed and would soon be commissioned.

In their reactions, the pensioners wished the Governor God’s blessings. Mr Felix Okafor expressed gratitude to Obiano for his good gesture. Mrs Kate Chikweobi prayed God to endow the Governor with wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.

Why all the talk then about equity and which zone shall produce a governor if a governor from a zone outside Owerri is on seat and no worthy projects for Imo state from both the federal and state govts can be allowed to be located outside Owerri?
what stops rochas from locating projects in orlu zone if I may ask?

You tried in your Ikwerre..spot on.

But i need Igbos to note that no matter the closeness of language and customs, Ikwerre isnt Igbo..Maybe the whiteman was confused to assume they are same, but on closer inspection, it is alot different.

Same applies to Asa, Ndoki, Egbema and other other Igbo-similar groups in Rivers..The misconception have all been corrected. Those groups are now in the larger Ikwerre tribe. We strove to gain recognition as a separate tribe from Igbo because of them so as to protect them particularly from Igbo dominance. They aee now a part of Ikwerre.

delta might belong to ibos, who cares? but the point is, there are other indigenous tribes in delta as well. so, my question is very valid.
If you do not know urhobos have a higher population that anioma igbos so saying that delta might belong to Igbo is a misnomer..there are also isokos, ijaws and itsekiris in delta state that is if you actually heard about these ethnic groups
