That is not true, you Ibos have been the aggressors from day one.
Biafrans are the bitter ones who have beef with everyone in Nigeria.
Mekuxxx aka metal-gong is the principal instigator of all the nonsense.
Even before Mekuxx, there had been many others like him; Sunny-bobo aka wily+wily,
Dede1 to some extent, Ikeyman and many others.

It amazes me while Ibos are always moaning and whining and complaining at every turn
that they are being trashed by everyone.
What do you think is going to happen if you continue to open threads to bash other people?
People are going to fold their hands and let have you have a field day?
Everyone is supposedly the enemy of  the Ibos, maybe it's time you guys look at the man in the mirror.
You'll hardly see Yoruba people on NL open threads to bash Ibo, it is always the Ibo man that opens bigot threads to bash others, and he'll then turn around and claim victimisation.

Biafrans can have Biafra if they want, I have no qualms with that; however, Biafra rants should stop at the gate of Biafra.com.  This is nairaland, and it clearly states that it is for Nigerians!
My friend go to nairaland 2005 to 2007 and come back and tell me who started the nonsense. The igbo tribalists that time where only one daft ABA4LIFE and Quotasystem and Quotasysrem was more on the defensive side most of the time.

Hello (Poater Asha 80) You are mentioning "Aburi Accord" as the reason why Biafra came to be, so what you are telling me now as a peace loving person that because "Aburi Accord" was thrashed then was enough for Civil War? Or the reason why someone got enraged and resolved to go for harms that lead to destructions of innocent Ibo lives and property? This sound a bit ridiculous to me and that was why I said I have not really understand the mission of Ojukwu to go for Biafa or war as an option. Well as I said I had asked a few questions in my earlier postage which every body can see clearly and I am proud to say despite I am partly from that region I will not and never "conceed to Biafra idea or any kind of war". I am so delighted, happy  watching our home movies, see our new day musicians, our new days comedians from Yoruba, Ibo, Hausa relating to each other, dancing together, having fun together and so on pls this is the generation I as a eastern guy belong toNOT generation of grudges, anger, hatred, vengeance, nasty history, tribalism, Biafra, war and so on. I rest my case if anybody get angry by this well goodluck.
Haha Aburi Accord was part of the reasons and the failure to keep to his words of then government of Gowon to protect the lifes of igbos returning back to the north after the first massacre which was followed by another round of massacre and moreover the contents of the Aburi Acoord contains the same ingredients for the later day people of nigeria that are making noise about 'true federalism and resourece control'.

Yes enjoy the mediocrity of your present nigeria  grin

The fact is, we are sick and tired of some Igbo people's needless crying, whinnying and trashing other people. You had a free ride talking s!h!iT and blaming every soul under the sun especially  for your woes before and after the war.

Honorable men bares the consequences of their actions and decisions made within their borders, only losers, cry babies, punks and weak minded people blames other people for their own mistakes, greed and shortsightedness.

It's your God given right to cry and yell about your Biafra till you turn blue and I care less, the problem starts when you start trashing and denigrating other people especially Yoruba people.

Any diss or disparaging utterances and your daily Yoruba hate fest threads against Yoruba people is not sliding by unchallenged.

We can end this right now, it's your choice.

clearly the mumus here dont live in lagos!,

look, this time around y know, quite a lot of us are despondent about this nigeria thing anyway, so let me assure you, this time around you will not be stopped, in fact you will be encouraged, i would also like to see a ooodua republic (maybe a fresh start will help us all) BUT I SURE AS HELL KNOW MY PEOPLE AINT DAFT ENOUGH TO WANT A WAR (REVENGE AS U SAY)

call all the okoros in lag, tell them to move across the niger abeg, we are tired of your constant flooding of lagos with people who only come to join the jobless multitude!

the irony is u meet these ibo people in lagos strutting and telling all that care to listen that they are "LAGOSIANS" what ever happened to the pride in aba, and enugu and abakaliki etc? oh sorry, they glorified deserted villages now! (andrew don go lagos go make money)

almajiris kill you allsame evrywhere u look, kaduna, abuja kano etc! why wont the kill u ! stay in your villages, develop them too, see them hustling to buy land in lekki and oko oba! inflating rents by paying exhorbitantly for 4 years then refusing to pay for the next four!

tseew! na this one yoruba they call, O tan ina wa oro!  u dey light candle just to go the next neighbor house to receive insults!

BIAFRA KO, ENUFRA NI!     BIG JOBLESS DUNCES WHO CANT LET GO OF THE PAST IN WHICH THEY WERE JUST AS DAFT!

Funny enough the aboki up north are now turning to your people for their yearly sacrifice as shown by recent events in jos including the youth service guys and the teacher that refused her students to cheat because they are finding your people are softer targets since they know say the last thing wey una go do na retaliate.

Na why dem fit fight una for una backyard and una go run (idi araba)

My beloved posters I had said this once and I will say it again let everybody throw this argument to bin for christ sake our generation don't need all these stuffs every young Nigeria has moved on and we so related to each other as one, lets put all these old uncalled for argument that always resulted to verbal abuse, attack, and insult on each one other, pls grow up guys. Many were not even born then, pls why are we now cracking our heads for already gone long ago issue? The question I kept on asking my fellow Ibo men till today and no answer yet is that 1.What is the reason in the first place for civil war(Biafra)? 2.What was the idea of Biafra for then? 3.Can Ojukwu be honest enough from his heart to tell us what was his mission had it be he succeded? 4.Why should we fight(Biafra) ourselves at all after a long fought that our leadrs then fought for independence by putting their lives and freedom on line? 5.Was their corruption then as it is today that prompted Ojukwu to instigated Biafra? Now my fellow brothers it is we the Ibo that should be blaming ourselves and the so called Ojukwu because he need to tell us why in the first place he choosed war rather than peace to wasted million of Ibo's lives but instead for us to ask him all we are busy doing is going around with grudges, vegeance, nasty history, hatred, accussing other tribes, it is Yoruba oh it is Hausa for how long will this go? The biggest question of all is Azikwe, Awolowo, Enahoro, Tafawa Balewa and so on fought for Nigeria independent pls and pls where is Ojukwu's father then? I know many will say nasty things as per this message I droped in but I as partially an indigene from that region I dislike the idea of war or Biafra or hatred, vegeance, this is 21st century for God sake? Let say the truth to ourselves and stop blaming anybody. This is just Nonsense, it rage me so much.
have you heard of 'The Aburi Accord' before?Go and read about it and find out why the then Nigerian government discard it'.Ojukwu chose war?Why was the Aburi Accord thrown into the trash can when all parties already agreed to it?

If you are partially an indegene from that region then go and read history about your country.

Just before you to know Ojukwu's father was a financial backer of the then NCNC.

I actually blame the Nigerian government for not including the history of biafran war into our school curriculum otherwise you will not be asking some questions here.

that's not what i meant, what i was trying to say is that most of the people using the internet in these places are students. does it mean everyone that goes to the net is to commit fraud?

now, are you saying the number of fraud coming out of Nigeria hasn't reduced?, Kay9 said it hasn't reduced and that it has increased but i said otherwise because i know (with fact) that it has reduced.

maybe you should answer the question for him, since the number of gullible white people has reduced due to them wising up, how then is it possible that more Nigerians are going into the same cyber crime that's not as flourishing as before?
You really have to ask anyone that you know that just came to lagos after sometime of staying in owerri(at least this place i know of very well being my town) if the cafe's there are not always populated by maga seekers.Quite good lot of those guys are not students but career fraudstars even though some of them just get chicken change from their activities.

What is the reality howevr is that the rate of 'confirmation ' or maga dropping has actually reduced but it still has not yet dettered these guys from trying there luck. Also want to chip in here that a lot of youths from that end especially in owerri which i know quite well are computer literate even some guys that just arrived from villages.Na just learning how to use the system

honeric01:
now, let's make a small research, if white folks have wisen up, what then is propelling the increase of Nigerians to the cyber world to commit crime? in a normal circumstance, you only continue doing what you are doing if it's paying you, but since the white folks aren't as gullible as before, why then is the number of Nigerian scammers not reducing? can you answer this?

secondly, you are basing your claim on the fact that you see alot of people in cafes doing fraud in PH, Owerri and Onitsha, now tell me, how many people in these places know how to use the internet except the students there? Lagos internet users alone should beat these 3 cities put together. how many fraudsters have you caught red-handed defrauding whites in these 3 cities you claimed you have been to?

Lastly, you are not using any official ranking to ascertain your claim, yet you want me to believe you? how many eyes do you have? and how many cafes have you been to? and do you sleep in these cafes watching and monitoring everyone that comes to browse the internet?
You must be having a laugh grin huh.Only students in these towns know how to use the Internet huhYou think other people are computer illiterate huh.U really need ttovisit these towns before you make judgement. Also kay9 is right is his assertions. Most guys that thrived in lagos that use to use the cafes there relocated to the east (especially those that are of eastern origins) because the heat in lagos was getting much.

Also in the same manner some guys also relocated to places like ibadan, ife and ijebu ode

The Nigerian Who Designed An American Car
By Michael Oluwagbemi

Born in Kaduna to a quintessential Nigerian family, Jelani Aliyu- the son of Alhaji Aliya Haidara and Sharifiya Hauwa’u Aliyu developed a love for cars at an early age. The fifth of seven children, Jelani pursued his dreams. He obtained a diploma from Birnin Kebbi Polytechnic in Architecture after dropping out from the theory heavy, but practical deficient counterpart program at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

At the Polytechnic, as he always did, he graduated on top of his class. “Best” has no competition. Upon graduation, “Jelani worked for a while at the Ministry of Works, Sokoto, and then in 1990, gained admission in the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, Michigan, to study Automobile Design. Having successfully secured sponsorship from the Sokoto Scholarship Board” .

The rest of the story takes off from here; Mr. Jelani chose to stay. Today, Mr. Jelani is best known for his work as the General Motors Lead Exterior Designer and the designer of the Chevy Volt. For struggling General Motors, Chevy Volt has been described as central to the government backed turnaround and comeback of this great American icon. Of course, the highlight of this centerpiece was the tangible contribution of a Nigerian mind: Mr. Aliyu’.

But wait a minute, for all his achievement- why is Aliyu not being celebrated? Why is he not on the front pages of the “Flagship”? The same newspaper where some no-name Professor Oyibo (of unified field theory fame) have won repeated Nobel season speculative coverage by Laolu Akande, to the annoyance of some serious academics? Why is this young man with real achievements not winning national medals, laurels and recognition? Why is Aliyu not the wonder boy of Nigeria’s intelligentsia, or Diaspora community as much as say Philip Emeagwali? Why has our legislators not invited this young man to speak at a public hearing to highlight the declining quality of technical education? Well, the answer is staring you and I in the face. I dare say Mr. Aliyu is a victim of a single story (borrowing the theme of the recently eloquently delivered lecture by celebrated novelist- Chimamanda Adichie). Mr. Aliyu does not fit a world view; he does not fit your stereotype. He is not your “goro” chewing northerner that is regularly caricatured by the southern Nigeria dominated media. Hence, the Lagos-Ibadan axis Press doesn’t know what to make of him. Humble Mr. Aliyu has not paid some internet publicist nor pushed brown envelopes through our editorial corridors, and hence does not get the required coverage. Our morally bankrupt, meritocracy resisting system does not appreciate the likes of Mr. Aliyu who in the tiny recess of their world have carved a tangible achievement for humanity. He is not the Jihadist raving Muslim northerner that is most abhorrent to our Western benefactors; hence the Nigeria community in Diaspora doesn’t know how to embrace him. The bankrupt ruling class of the North of Nigeria also shares blame in not highlighting the achievement of this true son of Nigeria. Those interloping blood suckers rather promote sectarian agendas to line their pockets, than elevate meritocracy
.

The treatment of Mr. Aliyu I dare say is a testimony to the subtle ignorance and arrogance of the Southern Academia, and the intellectual bankruptcy of the northern elite all rolled in one. While the national press continues a self absorption in making the phantom Nigerian car, Mr. Aliyu has pioneered the development of one far away from the shores of our country. Where art thou, oh southern media and northern elites? Mr. Aliyu represents the best of meritocracy, and makes a case that every region of Nigeria is teachable (at the very risk of sounding condescending). The whole idea that we can abandon any boy or girl in Nigeria (be it in the North, East, West or South) is put to shame by Mr. Aliyu’s outstanding stride. Mr. Aliyu’s achievement was only made possible only by access to education in Nigeria at the most basic level. Educating the Nigerian child, especially the girls in the northern region (currently lagging behind on the curve of human capital development internally) is sin-qua-non to obtaining the most productivity for our economic investments in them. The achievement of education parity between the north and south of Nigeria by serious drive to educate the North (not undereducated the South) is crucial to Nigeria achieving her dreams of being economically buoyant.

No part of Nigeria’s 150 million plus barrels of true human energy can be written off if we intend to make progress. Speaking about education, the harm done to the psyche of the Nigerian child by the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) incessant strikes and government continue neglect of the sector is dangerous. In underfunding education, we are not only losing the race of now, but giving away the medals of the future. Will our half baked graduates from University of Abuja be able to stare their Cambridge and Harvard counterparts in the eye in a future UN strategy meeting where the fate of our motherland is decided? What manner of legacy are we leaving our children? The time has come to demand that our teachers and lazy government officials stop playing roulette with our collective destiny

What the Igbos should understand is that, "there is no I am sorry in a coup"; Ojukwu and his sympathisers committed a coup and the death sentence should have been carried out there and then, but rather Gowon made a mistake ( albeit a conciliatory one) and assimilate the coup plotters and what we are witnessing now with these rants and missives is the outcome of that mistake.

The other tribes in the south south did not support nor have a say in the so called biafra state, they were forcibly conscripted to be part of dream nation.  The biafra soldiers invaded the Midwest and West in their eexpansionaryventure and killed tons of people, the people killed still have families that are alive and yet they are not wwhining

The Igbos should be lucky that they are assimilated, they and their ssympathisersshould have been given the same coup plotter treatment.
Do you think before you type? What coup did Ojukwu commit  huh

The problem I have is with people who feel the history of Nigeria began with the pogrom, and that subsequent events were the fault of only one party. Many Nigerians, most of them being masses from various parts of the country, lost their lives because of the actions and choices of a minority group of leaders. These leaders were not isolated to any particular region. Some Igbos on this thread seem to want to exonerate the protagonists from their tribe, and put the blame on the rest of the country, and that's just BS. Until they are willing to admit the fault of those from their region, they cannot demand (even if deserving) of an apology from the other regions for the act of their protagonists.

The problem with Nigeria and why it seems we cannot work things out is that the masses have been deceived into blindly thinking that our problem is horizontal i.e. between tribes, while in truth our problems are vertical i.e. leaders oppressing the people. Dividing the country will not solve our problem, even if we get fragmented on an hamlet basis. We have failed to learn from our experience of the British using divide and rule to conquer us.

Yes we are different people, but that diversity should be our strength, but instead the masses foolishly see it as our problem. Whereas our leaders are united in embezzling our money. A cursory look at our history is enough to show that no Nigerian government has been constituted solely by one ethnic group, and that they have all been corrupt. Each group in Naija deludes themselves into thinking they are the goose laying the golden eggs, blaming faceless entities from other parts of the country, and might only realize the truth, after we have split up and each has been exploited from both outside and within.

This does not mean that I am satisfied with the way things are in Nigeria. Definitely far from it, but I am interested solely in ways to make the country better and equitable, and not some divisive solutions that would only make the position of the masses worse. Hold our leaders accountable to the people, starting from each in his region, and our problems will start to go away. Not so, and our suffering just begun.
that would be difficult to do under the present arrangement.

babapupa:
What difference does it make?
The difference is that i corrected you.

Very good and fair question.

A decision was made by solely Ojukwu to leave Nigeria hence the civil war, but in wars, there's got to be a winner and a loser. And like I said before, Ojukwu rolled the dice and lost.

About staying or leaving, you need to ask your elected and appointed leaders because it's their job to make decisions like that for you, not me. Right now, your leaders are not interested in your Biafra worries, they didn't care back then and they still don't today, it wasn't deep conviction or worth dying for by the man who started it, the man who I still believe should be held accountable for risking and sacrificing the lives of so many because he reached a conscious decision that his life was more precious than the lives of so many that was killed during and after the war so he ran off to look after his own skin.

Now, the question is, why keep bugging us with biafra talk all the time when your leaders don't give a s@hit, when the man who lead your people to the battles filed didn't and still don't give a s@hit?

Why keep trying to guilt trip and blame the rest of the country for decisions that was made and carried out within your borders?

Why keep blaming Yoruba people for losing a war that even a day old baby knew who the winner and loser was gonna be before the start of the war?

Who started the bloodletting in 1966 right after independence?

We had the opportunity to rule ourselves and take care of our individual destinies via regional governments with little or no federal interference and my question again is, who disrupted that?

And Igbo people have been doing business with Hausa people since day one with ZIK, then Ekwueme and still prefer to do business with them today, even though most of the issues you have with Nigeria starting from the killings in the north, the civil war and it's aftermath, real and perceived marginalization are with Hausa people, abi have they not been ruling the country for the most part? Have you guys not been doing business with them instead of Yoruba people? Have you not been carrying their water bottle for them?

Outside of Igbo land and way way before independence, Lagos has the highest number of Igbo people and till this very second, there is nothing on record about any ill will, fights or clashes between both cultures, but you'd rather do business with the North, the same North you accused of slaughtering our brothers and sisters.

What have they ever done for your?

One thing we all know is the fact that, the North don't give a dam about you, your leaders are boy boy and ablution water carriers, you'll never come out on top doing business with them.

Ultimately, Igbo people need to ask Igbo people these questions, not Yoruba people or Hausa people.

And if Igbo people still want their Biafra and are willing to pick up guns and go for it again, I wish you good luck from the bottom of my heart.
Wrong it was the eastern house of assembly that time that gave Ojukwu the mandate to declare biafra.http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/biafra.htm

And about your bolded part, it's one of the ironies and sad bi polar tendencies some Igbo folks love to display, how do you go around bad mouthing the same place you can not do without? How do you go around and steady bad mouthing the same place you dirty up?

Politics › Re: Nigerian Leaders Are All Foreigners by asha80(m): 7:48pm On Feb 15, 2010
eina:
How could a country of 140 million people be ruled by foreigners? They foreigners have Nigerian birth certificates but they are no longer Nigerian citizens. What they only do in office is take your money and stash away in their home countries. They don't care about the masses because they are no longer Nigerians.
A foreigner is someone who isn't part of the daily way of life of an ordinary Nigerian. Therefore I must say your leaders are foreigners because:
-They don't travell the same bad roads with you.
-They don't use the erratic public power supply with you.
-Their kids do not attend the same substandard schools with you.
-They don't seek medical treatment in the same grave yard hospitals with you.
-They don't drink garri with you.
Common guys, how do you expect these folks to do something when they are not part of ugly way of life of the average Nigerian. How long should these foreigners continue to rule you? And you are here complaining in vain daily.
ol boy ur post make sense die grin cheesy grin cheesy grin
