Yar’Adua: Resign now, Northern Reps tell Akunyili National News Mar 3, 2010 …as Reps debunk coup story linked to Bankole By Luka Binniyat Rising from a meeting Wednesday, the northern caucus of the House of Representatives lambasted the Minister of Information and Communication, Professor Dora Akunyili, over her recent utterances on President Umaru Yar’Adua’s health, and called for her resignation. Also, the House of Representatives Wednesday refuted a story carried on a national newspaper (not Vanguard) linking the Speaker of the House of Representatives to a coup plot by the military as a result of the seeming constitutional crisis created by the long absence of President Umaru Yar’Adua from office. Addressing House of Reps Press Corps, the Chairman, Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ternga Tsegba (PDP/Benue) said the caucus is deeply concerned with the recent statements attributed by the Minister. He said that her utterances are capable of undermining the functions of the Acting President, and that her statements also have grave security implication.
“Under the doctrine of collective responsibility”, said tsegba, “she as a cabinet member is incompetent to make public statement in contradiction of the collective decision of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) irrespective of her personal opinion”, said the caucus spokesman.“Our advise to her in this circumstances of her total objection to the decision of FEC, is to resign”, he said. “The caucus itself urges all public officers particularly members of FEC to refrain forthwith from making further inflammatory statements capable of undermining peace, stability and unity of Nigeria but focus on how to effectively implement the budget”, he said. On the alleged coup story, the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, said that the story credited to Bankole as saying that the military has perfected a plot to overthrow the present government, was purported to have originated from last Tuesday’s executive session of the Reps. “The Speaker of the House of Reps never said anything about a coup plot”, he said. “The House merely discussed on the need for all Nigerians to put national interest first above all things”, he said. “The Speaker acknowledges the professionalism of the Nigerian Armed Forces and is full of praise for them, for the wonderful role they have played since the recent problems started”, he said. “We want to therefore to debunk that story”, he said, “It is totally false and cannot be collaborated”, he said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/03/03/yar%e2%80%99adua-resign-now-northern-reps-tell-akunyili/ |

I spent some time in Yenegoa this year, and speaking to most people has given me the impression most of them are borderline retarded. Even the so called educated ones. Additionally education is becoming worse. Teachers are idiots.
Nigerians can't produce anything the way things are going, let alone heavy industrial goods.

This is why some Yorubas on this board feel like some Ibos are just out to offend Yoruba sensibilities at any excuse. It really is deplorable and should be stopped. We may be sowing the seeds of a really bloody civil war on these boards, if people do not learn to moderate their comments.

Beaf: We’ll cripple Nigeria —Militants No Jonathan, no oil. Let them use groundnut to run Nigeria •Ijaw youths ask Yar’Adua to apologize From ISMAIL OMIPIDAN, Kaduna Sunday, February 28, 2010
Push could come to shove with regards to the raging power tussle in the Presidency, if feelers emerging from the Niger Delta are anything to go by.
Sunday Sun learnt that groups are being mobilized by concerned leaders in the region to respond to the “dangerous ethnic trend” that had been introduced into the Aso Rock power game. Some key former militant leaders are also said to have been contacted as part of a strategic plan to compel the cabal to stop undermining the Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
One of the former warlords who confirmed this, but spoke on condition of anonymity, said they had watched the developments in the Presidency as it affected Jonathan and decided that it is time to act. “Enough is enough. Since they (the cabal) have decided that Jonathan cannot occupy the office of the President because he is from the Niger Delta, we have also resolved that our oil is not for Nigeria. In fact, we are ready to dismember Nigeria. If they do not want us in Nigeria, they should not want our oil too.
“The issue is not about Jonathan, but our region. They have only used Jonathan to tell us to our faces that we are not equal in this country. So, when we start, we will ensure that there is no oil to depend on anymore. Let them use groundnut, hide and skin to run Nigeria. Since force is the language they understand, we will cripple the economy,” our source said, warning that the attacks would not be restricted to the Niger Delta.

ChinenyeN: Oto Nde Owe Nde. The way many people seem to feel about tribal markings is the same way many people seem to feel about tattoos but that hasn't changed anything. There are some who are deeply in love with tattoos. Likewise, there could be some who love tribal markings. Some find it disgusting. Some don't. No amount of debating changes sentiment.
By the way, there's really not much difference between tattoos and tribal markings. The difference is that when people get a tatoo to their body they are well aware of what they are doing since they are adults but in the case pf tribal marks they are usually kids or infants that have no say of what is happening to them. |

Politics › Re: How To Break The North by asha80(m): 5:56pm On Feb 25, 2010 |
Shoot2Kill: I do not agree with you,to be honest with you and this is the GOD's honest truth.Nairaland is the only place where i have found racist IGBOS and YORUBAS. In real life i chill with all my Nigerian brother and we all hate the Government together, there is no division between us so i don't believe in any mutual suspicion. It may exist in Nairaland but in real life Nigerians are more united that you assume here.
I grew up in Lagos and i had many friends from different tribes but we never question each other's loyalty not even once.Of course there was the usual Hausa attacks in the north and opc/bakassi fights in Lagos but it did not poison my mind against my brothers. What shocks me is the way some so called PHD holders behave like uncivilized spare parts dealers on Nairaland.
Even here in SA where IGBO drug crime is high ,it does not give me the right to HATE IGBO people ,i know better. If the so called educated Elites of Igbo land can be so racist then where is the hope for the future generation when we sow seeds of hatred in our children's hearts.
Am I supposed to tell my two sons to hate IGBOS too because most of them them hate my tribe ? Do you get what i am saying? Hatred is a disease of the mind and it is extremely dangerous and not progressive. It is a drug that consumes a persons ability to reason properly.Take mekusxyz for example ,the guy has gone NUTS.Every opportunity he gets he starts a thread to bash Yorubas I mean who the fuxk in his right mind does that
This bull crap needs to stop,we need to stop the biafra stories because all it does is divide us along tribal line.We should learn from our past and not let ruin us. Remember you also contributed to the 'hate' with that ur post on igbos spoiling the image of nigerian abroad.Whether it was meant to be a joke or not you were helping in creating the 'hate' you are preaching against now. That is exactly how it starts. |

Shoot2Kill: But you know it is true, you should caution your bothers. They do not come up with solutions to our problems instead they tell war stories.War stories will not get us out of this mess neither will it kick PDP out of power.
Instead of us being paper Ninjas ,we should actually mobilize and work against the corrupt PDP government. How are we going to do that when we are still racist to each other.Toddlers pointing fingers at other toddlers for the "sins" of their forefather?
The average Nigerian who cannot afford to feed himself does not care about biafra or Yorubas ,all he cares about is getting a decent job and living a good life! people can only mobilise to remove politicians from their regions but not the federal government because of mutual suspicions and the past. |
Politics › Re: How To Break The North by asha80(m): 5:24pm On Feb 25, 2010 |
Shoot2Kill: You Nairaland Igbos are extremely pathetic, must you turn every thread in to a biafra thread. The topic has nothing to do with biafra but hell no ,you guys won’t let the matter rest. Fuxk all of you!
It is you guys that is drawing Nigeria backwards, instead of us to working together and kicking out the political cabals ,we are here pointing fingers at each other. Nigerians are the dumbest people on the planet and everyday you Nairalanders keep proving that to the whole world.
No wonder a corpse could rule a nation of 150 million. Many of you on this forum never fought in the civil war so I wonder why you are so obsessed with the matter. Even Jews don’t cry so much like you Nairaland Igbos.I think the Seun should leave handkerchiefs here so that you guys can blow your noses. I have Igbos friends and they don’t have the mind set you guys have.
You guys claim to be educated but you comment like sadistic racists. If you morons can not come up with ideas to move our nation forward them please go to a biafra website and do not comment there. This is Nairaland.com not OK!
You Nairaland IGBOs should stop being selfish and let us enjoy this forum, you came with all your sad Biafra stories.I am a Yoruba and I am 30 years old,i did not fight in the civil and from what my parents told me as many as 200 IGBOS were saved by family who hid them on our cocoa farm in ondo state during the war so i don’t owe Igbos any apologies because my family helped them.
Some of you say we non igbos have a heart of stone but it is you Igbos who have a heart of stone if after 44years year you have not learnt how to forgive. We can never defeat PDP as long as we are biafra ,odua and arewa .Until you nitwits understand we need to unite ,we will never have freedom. Stop blaming Hausas for all our problems. Anyone with a brain knows that Hausa are not the problem. The problem Nigeria has is it’s politicians. The PDP is made of many tribes so stop blaming one tribe. The violence is jobs is motivated by politicians to satisfy the political agenda. Those people are just uneducated tools who are being to perpetuate the evil plans of our politicians.
Your ancestors have fought for your freedom and contributed to history. What have you done? Other than come here and complain. You guys are a bunch of idiots and you are a disgrace to the memories of the war. If you respect your tribe, you will not ridicule the civil the way you guys have done.
Even an ordinary foreigner who visited this forum was calling you guys retards but you refuse to heed his advice. Instead of dwelling on the past learn from the past. It is the same division you guys are promoting now that led to the war and that is the last thing we need now. If any war is to be fought it should be the people of Nigeria VS the army not tribe against each other! All this one wey you dey yarn here na cigar |
Politics › I Am Not A Nigerian,i Am An Ijaw Man - Asari Dokubo by asha80(op): 5:12pm On Feb 25, 2010 |
Nigeria Ambassador, Dokubo-Asari disagree National News Feb 25, 2010 By Emma Amaize THE HAGUE – THE Nigerian Ambassador in Netherlands and leader of the Niger-Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NPDVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari sharply disagreed, Thursday, during an international conference on the Niger-Delta over comments by Dokubo-Asari, who is currently in exile, that he is not a Nigerian. Dokubo-Asari who was one of the speakers at the “Niger-Delta Peace Consolidation Conference”, organized by the Hope for Niger-Delta Campaign (HNDC), while addressing the international audience on the theme, “Dynamics of Achieving Sustainable Peace in the Niger-Delta” said, “I am not a Nigerian, I am an Ijaw man”.But hardly had he finished when the Ambassador, Dr (Mrs.) Nimota Akanbi who was represented by Mr. Kabim Ibala said it was puzzling to him that Dokubo-Asari could appear before an international conference to say he was not a Nigerian.Dokubo had said he surrendered 3212 rifles and several millions rounds of ammunitions when the Federal Government under former President Olusegun Obasanjo asked for peace thinking that the government was serious, only for him to be arrested and detained for 22 months thereafter. He maintained that the government of Nigeria\ was not interested in genuine peace in the Niger-Delta but a graveyard peace that would enable it continue to take away the oil of the region and does not want to listen to the people who actually own the oil they were looting. Mr. Ibala who was vexed by Dokubo-Asari’s declaration that he was not a Nigerian said, “I wonder on what passport he came to Netherlands . It’s puzzling to me”.Dokubo-Asari replied the Ambassador that he had taken his case up to the Supreme Court of Nigeria that he was not a Nigerian and he had no apology about his position.
He maintained God created him an Ijaw man and that Nigeria is a contraption by Lord Lugard, and that the people were not consulted before it was created. Dokubo-Asari maintained until a Sovereign National Conference was held and the ethnic nationalities agree to be Nigerians, Nigeria remains a contrivance.President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Dr. Chris Ekiyor who mediated in the altercation between Dokubo-Asari and Ibala agreed with the latter that Nigeria is a contraption and Ijaw people, like other ethnic groups was forced into it. But he pointed out that at the moment that Ijaw people were Nigerians. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/02/25/nigeria-ambassador-dokubo-asari-disagree/ |
