lonewolf: Again, I think that Nigerians should be directing their emotions towards constructive things, and demanding pressing answers to serious questions -- like why is there no sensible energy policy in the country, etc. People are always lamenting and living in some past glory. If it's not old Yoruba dudes talking about Awolowo, it's Igbos complaining about a civil war, or Hausas plotting the glory days of military rule. All that is washed up. Nobody cares. I know I don't. What people are bothered about is the 'here-and-now' and 'going-forward'. And in contributing constructively to how people can lift this cursed country from the hole, I don't see how eulogising some nameless militant is going to help. Just my thoughts though. You cannot move anywhere if you do solve what led to the present state.Simply put you do not know where you are going if you do not know where you have been. What you see in nigeria today is the 'effect of some causes' and you solve it by attacking the 'causes' and not the 'effects' |

lonewolf: Most Nigerians don't care about stuff like this. Most people are worried about food, electricity, how to pay school fees, etc. It's difficult to see the point of this incomprehensible romanticism of tribal ethnicities and origin. Of course, ethnic minorities have been treated badly -- no one will dispute that. That said, I think it's pretty pointless knocking your heads and typing essays about obscure "freedom fighters" most Nigerians will never know -- and, quite frankly, don't give a shit -- about.
Energy should be directed at more constructive things, things that affect the daily lives of Nigerians. mess a Boro. Things like these are bases of the bigger nonsense we see in nigeria today. |

Nija4Life: You are spot on 'Afam4eva', it is very worrying that our people have discarded our language in favour of English. I wonder if our language especially Ibo) will be spoken in 50 years time. I remember not too long ago I asked one of my friends here in the UK if they spoke Ibo to their son and his wife answered "No, we don't want him to learn Ibo", that sums it up. My guy if possible speak concetrated igbo to your children. After all the will learn english in school.Do not mind those guys.Only english my foot.People do not seem to realise that a child from 0-7 years is able to learn and speak up to five different languages without confusing one for the other.Wasn't lemar born and brought up in uk?How come he can speak and understand igbo quite well even of with an english accent? |

Dede1: It is unfortunate that people such as Kobojunkie would like to eat their cake and have it. Any approach short of disintegrating the jungle called Nigeria is simply naïve and disingenuous. The politico-sectarian riots have been a common scene in the northern Protectorate cum northern Nigeria since 1946.
The young leader of the NPC youth wing that saw mayhem and protracted riot of 1946 in Kano later became a minister and very prominent. The person is no less a person than Alhaji Inua Wada. It pays dividends to organize Islamized religious riots in the northern Nigeria. Chei dede you have lots of information of prewar nigeria. |
for Kobojunkie members of Boko Haram are people's brothers, fathers and sons and we must treat them with compassion, while MEND are terrorists who should be snuffed out. What I find amazing is while Boko Haram seeks to abolish formal education and impose full blown sharia, MEND claims to be fighting for justice for their people who have been deprived of their God given wealth. This is another example in long list of Kobo's Litany of double standards. Unfortunately the list is getting worryingly long. Here her talk about MEND in the link below and compare it to her opinion on this issue. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=298262.msg4215280#msg4215280Here her!!!! (stated by kobojunkie at #17 on: July 19, 2009, 03:50 AM » ) She will not condone an attack on Federal Installations but seems to have sympathy for a group of folks who will attack a Nigerian police station all because they want to impose a medieval age ideology on the rest of us
chai kobo |

Kobojunkie: Remember when you said on another thread that you would rather spend your time dealing with the root cause of these issues and not the symptom? Don’t you see how this is the symptom of the bigger problem: problem that currently exists because our constitution currently allows states to choose to implement religious laws that are completely not in line with the constitution? Can you quote the section pls? Morever you have not answered my question for me to know where i can respond you? |

what we have to do is responding in a way that shows that this babarism has no place in the 21st century. We can only do that by ensuring that the fools and their sponsors are tried in the law court. Governors in the South can also send a stronger message by beafing up security around Hausas in their State to prevent any reprisal attacks. @Mckren The attacks are against the police and whom they feel are agents of government. It was not targetted against southerners(not yet) |

Kobojunkie: This has nothing to do with being politically correct. . . . it has more to do with practising what you profess first and putting hate or issues you have with their tribe or religion to the side. These are human lives being wasted here. What would your Chineke want you to do? Continue to edge them on?? Come oN!!! This is why I envy people in the west , they seem to have more human feeling than all our african brothers who claim one religion or another . I am sorry to say this but you are very funny with this statemnent. These people are figthing to islamize the whole nigeria and you are saying that we should support them? When the people of niger delta were being mowed though they were on there own did i see you making any statement here? They should have known what they where getting themselves to.Go and tell any christian that has stayed in the north or southerner that has lived there what you are telling me and watch there there reactions. Please give any account that might be similar to something that has happened in US? |

McKren: Some of these comments are of no benefit to the South
We have our Southern brothers living up there and are always vulnerable in the face of crisis like these
I just wish folks will guard their comments sometimes
what we should be doing is putting pressure on the Government to investigate and prosecute the kingpins and sponsors amongst the political class. As if it will yield anything |
