tbaba1234: Joel Obi was precautionary. He felt pain in his thigh and Torino did not want to risk him. You have to treat my man like an egg. My guess is that, he will be fine.
Ebuehi, we do not know yet. Hopefully, he was pulled out as a precaution too [quote author=tbaba1234 post=65742662]hehehe...well as much most want him in the world cup squad it is a bit of a good thing that joel isnt regarded as a sure starter for eagles..his injury issues could disrupt plans if he was. |

ChrisKels: What's Iheanacho's best position on the pitch again?
Honestly I saw a glimpse of Iheanacho of 2013 this evening. Threading good passes in the midfield, assisting and scoring.
Some people won't like his if you ask me it is just behind the top striker..i have never fancied him as the top striker as that hides his other talents |

Sainty92: The way Man united attack consisting Rashford and Lukaku tore Liverpool defence in 20mins should give Rohr and insight that we need Pace and Power from Iwobi/Musa/Simeon/Moses and Ighalo to tear Dejan Lovren into shreds against Croatia.... And we gat pace and power in Abundance in the team. Hope Rohr is watching... if you have been watching our matches in recent times under rohr you will notice that eagles have actually become deadlier with counter attacks and pace...also lovren is a bit suspect for a defender |

komekn: The word academies is all encompassing it's general and misleading with regards to my proposition.
Which academies is the more pertinent question ❓ Do you think he would walk into the top EPL academies as an U23 player. I very much doubt it. And that's the context my statement was made,so there is no GOOF as you put it.
The reality is that a lot of top EPL academy players and or fringe reserve players are top players but world class players ahead of them limit thier opportunities.
That's why top EPL academy players can be sold for upwards of £10million and even much more.
Ebuehi is a good player but he's not top class. I hope he has a great world cup and gets noticed. As you know there weren't any La Liga, Bundesliga and or EPL clubs fighting to sign him.
Portuguese league is very good but how many of thier league teams made it to the Champions league last 16 Just one Porto and got resoundingly flogged by Liverpool 5-0 that says a lot.
Finally which league had the most number of clubs in the last 16 of the Champions league The answer is a clear quality indicator. In the SE where are out top performing players from the first bolded is debatable because if they were lots of mid table german, spanish and even italian clubs would swoop on them but isnt the case. on the second bolded that isnt always the case..eg james rodriguez on the price of sum on these player whether fringe or academy we have to admit there is lots of money in english footbal down to the lower leagues so much so that is some sort of inflation that affects player transfer fees and wages |

forgiveness: Was ‘bad boy’ Kayode dropped by top NFF officials?
By admin - March 8, 2017, 11:29 am1180 0 Sources close to Olanrewaju Kayode have insisted the Austria-based striker was very much in the plans of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, but he was eventually dropped from the squad for this month’s friendlies in London because some top NFF officials branded him “a bad boy”.
“Kayode has maintained that he was called up by Rohr, but he was eventually dropped because some top officials said he will never play for Nigeria again because he ‘messed’ up one of their ogas some years ago,” said a source close to the former Nigeria U17 and U20 striker.
This was in reference to his transfer saga that involved former top NFF chief Taiwo Ogunjobi and Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas.
The 23-year-old Kayode has been linked with a move to the Premier League in England on the back of his form at Austria Wien.
This season, he has scored eight goals in 22 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga after he netted 13 goals in the last campaign.
This week, he told a radio station that were he chanced, he would demand answers from Rohr to why he has again been snubbed by the Super Eagles.
“If I had the opportunity to speak with Rohr, i will ask him to check my profile and also why I haven’t got an invitation,” he said in the interview.
The Austria Vienna striker also questioned scouting and yardsticks used to invite players to the Super Eagles
“I think the Super Eagles scouting needs to be extensive enough to consider players who are active in their clubs,” he urged.
“There is no way a player who sits on the bench can be fit enough or better than the one who plays regularly.”

Kog45: Nobody was saying losing Otigba Nigerians should go and die
Oh Omeruo regular, yes he should be cos it would be a disgrace for a WC player like Omeruo to sit on the bench.
I thought Ekong was warming the bench in Belgian league before he moved to Turkey for regular playing time.
I think Onazi is more of a bench warmer this season
Experience Elderson Echiejele failed to make the cut in the same Turkish league now in Belgian 2nd division.
Yes Nigeria is a great football than Hungary just like we are better than Austria (Alaba)and Switzerland (Akanji)
My point is not about Otigba quality or his country but not always happy seeing Nigerians playing for another countries.Simple. errrm it is inevitable in football..you cant always cap every player who has dual nationality or is qualified to play for two or more countries..once in a while one escapes the radar(maybe due to not showing much promise earlier or the coach at any point when the player is willing not fancing him) Brazil=diego costa(spain) italy= enzo scifo(belgium) |

Like I had stated elsewhere, if Joel Obi gatecrashes the team and we have to bench Onazi then someone has to convince Mikel to play the DM.
O pari convincing mikel to go back to DM will take some doing..moreover I think he is playing his best football ever for eagles now that he has been pushed to AM which was his first love anyway before mourinho appeared in his life..he also seems happy playing that position |

Even the commentator kept stressing about that Super Eagles' inexplicably malevolent capability that tore the Argentines apart. even in the days of the 1993 to 1998 eagles they were not too good or maybe even willing to go on counter attacks |

Joel is more of the box to box guy while Mikel plays further up the pitch as the play maker. The coach should be able to make it work. ndidi is not the type that sits in front of the defence..you will not get the best of him from there..that isnt even his role in leicester..he is the type that breaks up play and bettles in the middle |

AmTruth: I would not like to say I feel ashamed of you mentioning that what Rivers state needs is roads, what a view? And for industrialisation, you mentioned Lagos with more companies but despite that we still have the state keep attracting industries and still building roads also,as for Rivers how many high employing company exist here,I can mentioned them. The Sabmiller grand brew in oginigba, eleme petrochemical, indomie in choba, notore in onne, refinery, olam in town and ongoing Greenville oil and gas . Am not talking about SMES ,others are oil servicing company which most of there operations are coordinated from Lagos. Transamadi you mentioned most of the companies are moribund, you talk of Michelin,Rivoc,New engineering works, west Africa glass industries, just to mention few. Development of a state is far far beyond road construction Akwaibom has free education Rivers state don't have, Akwaibom create job opportunity in the civil service Rivers state don't and so many others. And what you said Rivers people want is road. be fair to us why should a state even start 'creating' jobs in the civil service that would later blow up the recurrent expenditure? |

Loogan: I disagree! Balogun is our best defender! Ekong is solid, reliable and consistent, therefore he can be counted on, But he still has more work to do before becoming world class. Balogun if you watched during the qualifiers was arieally better than ekong especially in the Cameroon game, he won almost all his headed duels, ekong is also solid arieally but balogun on form is a beast in the air. I do not think we have a better interceptor of the ball in defense than Leon, his marking and tackling skills are top level. People keep complaining about balogun struggling in the Algeria game, we seem to forget ekong was unimpressive in the South Africa game. Balogun is one who with less injuries and more game time would be world class In a year, his performances in the qualifying series cannot be ignored. he is 29 though so he is in his peak now. |

somehow: Hence the reason I said Nigerians play football for the money and not for the love of it. The earlier we grab this, the better so no one should expect the best from the league nor should we bereate a league we made so. I have people in the league. Some of those who left ended up in oblivion. Some Nigerian players playing in the league have achieved more than some who left for relatively unknown countries/league/club.
There is a particular one that went to Iran, up till now he's struggling badly, some make it but most don't. very difficult in this era to find a football player that is not playing football without money in mind. |
