LaudableXX: Nobody said it was. I used Germany and Russia as examples, to draw an analogy between those places and Lagos. Please go back and read my post without prejudice, and clearer understanding.
Stingman: It will work as Igbos who are not interested in the language will not go to those schools...How many northerners or Ijaws want to go to LASU?
i said so because from my experience most igbos born and brought up in lagos can speak yoruba
Adebowale89: Igbo speaking in east is Paramount somewhat that some teachers resort to diverting English language to Igbo for student assimilation (e.g mathematics) you can't see this in yorubaland. why are we ashamed of our language, when you must know how to speak French before entry France?
even in ekiti, osun and Oyo, it's very common to see people adopting English in almost all their communication while in office
in france though the language of instruction is french not another national language..
from my experience in ekiti i seriously doubt the second bolded.
LaudableXX: Of course he can. All he needs to do is to pass Yoruba as a subject, during NECO or SSCE exams, and to do that, he must learn to speak the language. It is a bit like going to study in Germany or Russia. You would have to take a year or so, to master the language of instruction.
problem with this comparison is yoruba isn't the language of instruction in those schools
Adebowale89: this go beyond education my guy, we are too fast to compare our disorganised governmental system to a stable government of other countries
goto East, even in the bank the igbos ain't ashamed to speak Igbo language but Yoruba here, in a corporate organization, you will hardly know the employee are yorubas
how do we restore our language value if not through schools? the governor unanimously with the lawmakers had passed the law and there is ntn anyone can do to reverse that, so this debate has no meaning to me
i think the bolded is opposite..compare east to west states like oyo and osun..lagos is the way it is because of the way it evolved.
successinlife: This is very good development. We africans nay black africans always undervalue ourselves. To go to school in arab nations including all the north africans, you have to learn and speak arabic,to go to school in UK and US you have to learn and speak english,so be it in France,Bulgaria,Japan, China and many other countries that were comonised, why is it different from the black africans who still keep colonial language as lingua franca?
The centurion adage says, when you are in Rome you do as the Romans.Let's preserve our language and culture and stop copying others.
..start teaching chemistry, physics in yoruba then we will be talking
BabaAgba79: Honestly this a good move from Lagos State. Meanwhile, the only means to make a language acceptable is via commerce, science and technology and manufacturing. Conquest itself cannot sustain a language otherwise, Latin wouldn't have died by now even Fulfide of the Fulani would hold sway in the Northern part of Nigeria! A language is sustainable only through science and technology coupled with manufacturing of the peopl. Manufacturing conquers the world!English will continue to dominate because of Manufacturing, science and Technology. if Lagos starts manufacturing shoes, tables, clothes, computers and their manuals are written in Yoruba, the world would be forced to learn Yoruba.Otherwise, the enactment remains dead as the arid desert! See how the world is switching to Chinese.
also being the language of taught..like teaching chemistry and biology in yoruba
kokomilala: Diego Armando Maradona, the greatest chest in football history. His two goals against England at Mexico '86 were not truly his. The first, he jumped and, with his hand, pushed the ball into the net- he called it Hand of God. It's the hand of a cheat. The second, where he slalomed between 6 players from around the centre circle. The final touch that drove the ball into the net wasn't his. He's one of the greats, but he's a cheat. But I like him all the same, because we share the same birthdate.
banre: will maradona goan sit down?? didn't Nigeria disgrace argentina in his days. if he doesn't hav any better thing to say he better keep shut and face his coaching job in the Caribbean. lucas biglia is a very good defender was even one of the most highly rated defenders in the market after the world cup, as for messi he can never cover their mistakes. when they made no mistakes in the world cup with such an impeccable squad he still couldn't lead them to glory, is it now that their imperfections are so glaring to the world, even against the super eagles, is that when he's talents can be complemented?? smmhh
when did nigeria disgrace argentina when maradona was playing?

ma guy that ogbomosho bird is a marabou stork not a martial eagle..look that pic carefully and compare it with the martial eagle pic you posted..do they look alike?now compare that pic to this marabou stork bird here i attached
mysticwarrior: its a condor a specie of vulture and the largest known in the new world, condors are only found in south America, I wonder how this one got here.
Amakavula: a vulture or a Condor ( I highly favour this because of our proximity to south America ) possibly made the Atlantic crossing only to fall to primitives here in Nigeria. It can't be a bald eagles since they aren't native to the Southern hemisphere ( including huge swap of Africa )
Purehuman: I am not saying it in the light at which the Fulanis colonize the people of other states but in the light that we can invest in the port and use it for business purposes.
they we you said it sends a wrong signal..it is not not like nobody knows the importance of a port especially that port to businesses and industrialization of south east but at times the way we say things lets a lot to be desired
Purehuman: My vision is an igboland that will be the destination of everything positive in Africa. Moving at this pace will make others overtake us. Igboland is sitting in the middle of over 50million people. Anything you produce can get to 13states within 4hours. This is what Lagos cannot offer. If we play our game right, we should colonize the Akwa ibom seaport for our personal use. All our products should enter through that part and the monies spent in Lagos will reduce.
If we can call for an economic conference. The pharmaceutical industries, the transport, the commerce, the banking and insurance, the real estate and every sector, even ICT and entertainment, we should create an economic plan with them so as to make them expand and increase in market share. This will make the east the focus of all forms of investment.
kettykings: This will be a game changer for the SouthEast , Thank God imo pioneered it and i am hoping other capitals will follow suit to save land for agriculture, The East should outlaw the construction of low storey buildings and bungalows both in the city centres and outskirts.
it should be privately run and managed in govt builds it..i also prefer a private firm building it..dont trust govts especially in these parts
ThierryJay: You re right. The ant is very big and usually moves alone. It emits a strong repulsive odour. It's called Ikamudu in yoruba. I recall a single bite to a friend of mine in the boarding school bush then. The guy was all swollen up like a pig and he was stripped naked and writhing in pain for days with palm oil all over his body.
yes it is the ant..nasty piece of work that ant is
RoyalBlak007: Bullet Ant The world’s most painful insect sting belongs to the bullet ant. It is also the world’s largest ant and possesses a powerful, venomous sting. A worker ant can be over 2.5 centimeters (1 in) long and looks like a wingless wasp. The queen ant is nearly the same size. These creatures have reddish-brown hair and are hairier than other related ants. Bullet ants are most likely to be found in Central and South America.
The bullet ant gets its name from the shot of intense pain that it delivers. The venom-filled sting can produce agonizing effects in the recipient for up to 24 hours. According to the Schmidt Sting Pain Index, the bullet ant is rated at a Level 4—the highest level of pain. It ranks higher than the harvester ant, paper wasp, and even the tarantula hawk wasp.
there is a black ant here in nigeria that has a nasty sickening smell especially when killed..i am not sure this ant is bigger than it...that ant is also around an inch long if not longer
Ihsan6: please let's stop this blame game, alot of filling stations including bovas who is a private marketer sells at the normal price. in fact bovas sells at 143 per litre... n this thread said bovas bought at 154 per litre, please ask ur self if that's possible. fake news
believe whatever you want to believe but Mark it on this day that in 6 months either fuel sells above 145n or the scarcity will persist
nonix22: This thread should be considered relative cos I bought @ 145 opp NUC Abuja this afternoon, then filled up another car @145 in con oil opp NNPC towers today.
those are major marketers..also outside Abuja and Lagos you can hardly get fuel at 145 anywhere except maybe nnpc stations
