The matured ones will always want to sleep in ur room, I wait for them to sleep off, carry them to their room, just when u lay them down, one will open his eyes and insist on going back with u; if u make d mistake of lying with them, na till daybreak be dat! Even d kid that agrees to sleep alone, will come knocking for- water, pee, stomach ache(bread&tea)), ojuju etc Parenthood is great fun and until d kids grow old enough to be relatively independent, ur sex life remains a balancing act. |

Shii aint right, they're scarring that child psychologically. I wonder what happened to having someone watch over the baby while they were both at it Innocuous moments. Scenario 2- during early morning(4am) konji, someone opens d door after passing beside d damn bathroom, and says "Daddy, I want to pee" Good babysitters are hard to come by! veraponpo: So, where is lack of respect in everything you wrote up there?
Many of you have left the fundamental issue and that is 'respect is reciprocal' from India to Ghana, if you respect me, I will respect you. Both Linda and Don Jazzy threw the first stones. Both Olamide and Wizkid only reacted.
Being respectful is not synonymous to being a coward and it is on record that no tribe has ever fought wars like the Yoruba people in Nigeria. Igbo had only one and they lost it. Hausa did not have many too. Only the Fulani through the influence of the expansion of their emirate could equal the record of the Yoruba people. Tell it to dem bro, even their reasoning is off! |

sonature1: You don't seem to understand what OP is saying, oga. OP is saying that a typical Yoruba person would respectfully show their displeasure even they are pushed to the wall NOT whether they started it or not.
IMO, this has nothing to do with bravery. If not, how would you explain Wizkid, a boy, threatening to beat Linda, a lady? There is an old saying: never fight a woman because if she wins "a lady has beaten you," and if you win, you "hit a lady."
In my perception, the world is changing. Yes, this is 21st Century so we are losing every single thing culture teaches us and there is nothing "culture" can do about it Read up all my comments. I get culture being thrown out, what I also get is d current Yoruba youth departing from d typical! In my culture, Linda won't diss Whizzy, he is not her mate and she won't leave herself open to any rude reaction from him! I'm yet to hear of a Funke Akindele dissing Davido, them no be mate and she won't be caught dead in a social media war with him! When someone who grew up with no respect training disses u, u treat their fuckup! Even when Olamide dissed D'banj, he(D'banj) rolled over and played dumb. But, I can promise u, Olamide has been to prostrate to D'banj without involving Otedola! Don't mind d op, he was trying to rub it in, his intentions weren't pure. |

Destined2win: Note that I am not writing this little piece out of any ulterior motive but to speak my mind on a very important issue which concerns my yoruba people who will make part of my territory when I become President. Heaven knows that this is without prejudice!
To the main issue. The recent media outbursts of some yoruba artists have really put in doubt the long held perception that yoruba people are very respectful to their elders, and are somehow reserved in their speech. Well, I have been indifferent about that percpetion because as someone who resides in a yoruba land, I have seen respectful yorubas and insulting ones. Candidly speaking, I see more of insulting ones than respectful ones. A lot of the ones that give you respect do so as a 'reward for a favor' or 'as a green flag for an expectation.
Not quite long ago during the headies, a yoruba artist by name Olamide who felt his candidate was short-changed in the headies awards came out on stage to rain abuses on both the host and the audience that had people of different background and nationalities. It was very disgraceful! I expected to see a yoruba elder remind olamide that he is from a 'respectful tribe' but alas, i waited in vain.
Olamide used unprintable words on the person of Don jazzy his elder, yet he is from tribe that does not insult elders but 'respectfully' register their grudges or dissatisfaction. This young man is a role model for a lot of young people; and I have seen a lot take after his pseudo-name, 'badoo'. If he apologized for those trashy words on twitter, I am yet to read about it.
Where is the respect of the yorubas?
And the most recently, wizkid, a 'respectful' yoruba boy literally committed verbal murder on One Miss linda Ikeji, using all kinds of unprintable, anti-woman, anti-human words on her. Wizkid showed how depraved our youths have become. I expected a rebuttal from some yoruba elders, but alas, my expectation seem to be meeting a dead end. His colleage in the industry David, another 'respectful' yoruba boy saw joy and bravery in what Wizkid did. If you check online, you would see that majority of those who rejoice in this 'little boys' outburst are yorubas. It puts a big question mark on the 'respectfulness' of this lovable tribe.
Some should please answer me, where is the respect of the yorubas? Too much disrespect is burying it! We're being taken for cowards, and d current youths are out to correct that mentality. Mention 1 fracas, which was initiated by d Yorubas? They tend to be reactive. |

x240: You must have been reading my text upside down.
I blamed everyone proportionately. I never spared anyone. I like to be a realist and talk based on facts and not just emotions or feelings.
I guess you skimmed through where she said she started seeing the obvious signs when he was having troubles settling his office rent. I am not in their family and can only judge based on little snippets of info you can gleam. What does it connote for a man to not be able to pay his office rent just few months after his wedding?
You make it seem like it is a black and white issue. How many times has a man tried talking to the lady to listen and reduce the cost of wedding expenses but they turn it too a case of he is too stingy.
How many of you ladies here would agree to budget wedding?
How many would agree to a small wedding with just minute friends and families around?
How many times have ladies of guys not loving them enough because he doesnt want to spend on a frivolous wedding?
The guy is to blame for over spending his balance but its not that easy to just pull out of such when you have expended emotions, time and resources nurturing such a relationship only to just breakaway.
So run along if you can't constructively disagree with my post. Thanks.
@op This might not be the case in your example but you need to sit him down and talk about finding a way around whatever challenges he is facing. The way i see it. familyrocks: Change too, just start Ignoring him totally, in fact just live as Co tenants. And from your write up it seems he is not doing well financially and your still young so please the second option is leaving that marriage before you get pregnant
Modified**** For those saying my advice is bad..you need your head examined, most women are not happy in their marriages but more than half of them at least have one reason to hold on to the marriage for example they could hold on for the kids or finances or for the way the man treats them well once in a while. But op has not even given one reason of what she is holding on to in that marriage apart from trying to change the behaviour of a man who is almost 40 for crying out loud and he is still struggling that he can't even afford to decently take care of his home financially or emotionally. You people want her to remain miserable, until she starts getting attention from outside and committing adultery then you people will be the same people to call her a prostitute. That man is just irresponsible, At least men who are not financially strong make up for it by being extra loving.. Please op you are still too young to be so miserable,I repeat quit that marriage and get your life and happiness back. If you decide to stay back then suffer in silence cuz nobody can change the character of a 40 year old. Please forgive the **** word, I have no intention insulting your husband, but I believe you must have heard the saying before, it just makes you understand how impossible it is changing the character of a 40 year old man , A **** at 40 is a **** forever.. I share ur sentiments, abeg! Boning with his siblings was d warning sign. I read dat n I said damn! To all prospective couples, no warning sign should be ignored. If u know u can't live with a particular trait, don't bother continuing because of promises to change, na wash! If u insist because of sentiments, well, be prepared to live with d consequences. Op, don't get preggy yet, and be ready to go all out to get a change or else, d rest of ur marriage will be frustrating and filled with regrets. If he/she gets too angry/stingy/unforgiving/lacks empathy with everyone except u, don't be deceived, ur time will come; esp after u tie d knot. Onegai: Is that picture what you're calling a "fluorescent" bulb? And you're complaining about buying a ram??
Jehovah. You're an idiot. Sorry but true.
That is an Ultraviolet light, used for treating severe cases of jaundice in newborn (neonatal). They saved your son's life because if they hadn't done that, he would have died.
And you called it "fluorescent" and complained about buying a ram?!!!! Let me guess, you're a "graduate", right??
And please don't spew that talk about early morning sunlight, as that treatment only works for mild cases of jaundice, which is probably not what your son had and he got better after a week of UV treatment. If you had refused and he had died (2-3 says of severe jaundice will kill most newborns) you'd have come here to rant. When your careless ignorance caused it.
I'm not a doctor or nurse, btw, just an informed parent. But you have seriously annoyed me tonight. You and the OP have shown the kind of ignorance that made me stop helping almost all the cases I hear of, because Nigerian stvpidity and wilful ignorance is high and we need to reduce the population of ignorant half-baked graduates (let Natural Selection get rid of them). I mean, you could have used your phone to Google the treatment o....Chai.
And to anyone complaining, go to GH. At least they treat you not based on profit. I use private for our regular medicals and when we have an issue I call the GH doctors and tell them we are coming or ask them for a 2nd opinion and crosscheck with my private hospital. That's your right as a patient, ask for a 2nd opinion if you are not sure of your attending physician. Chai, only me, idiot? So full of ur self! U a graduate, assumes all other graduates aren't un-informed?
