Armaggedon: yes they should control it immediately. ND avenger announce immediately after attacks and sometimes live in order to avoid such situations. Infact in sane societies attacks of this magnitude will make govt to halt crude production in the entire region indefinitely until a lasting solution is found. I know it sucks to learn that militants act more responsibly than ur govt. Thats where we found urselves See reasoning?! Bombing of pipeline instead of dialogue is responsible behavior?! The last time d army went into d creeks, all d militants jumped at amnesty! An army is trained to fight and die fighting! D militants are after resource control and freedom fighting. Even BH that is ppled with illiterate suicide bombers are being decimated, not to talk of militants who value their lives! What u don't seem to get is, d army is gonna win this in d long run; d militants have a limited supply of men , and even they can't do any production during conflict, whereas d army has all d time in d world to wait them out! I was more afraid of BH than some civilised militants, who are even trying to spare innocent lives??! Guerrilla warfare is outdated, drones are d in-thing nowadays and sooner or later d army will tap into it! The worst case scenario is, nobody gets to drill for oil in d ND again! |

mamabomboy: A land army with no amphibian training is sent to combat different guerilla ghostmode sects. The answer is simple, the NA will be decimated and butchered like cattle. I just wish the clowns on NL supporting the army's suicidal mission would be drafted by the army. That would be poetic justice. I hope u realise; armies are trained to kill? And, should they not have any militant/s in their target, they'll resort to killing d innocents! And, with d recent retrenchment in d army, possible/compromised saboteurs from within are being let go. The typical soldier is trained to die fighting, so, only suicidal individuals/risk takers generally join d army in d 1st place! |

tunjilana: I think men of this generation really have a lot of work to do in preparing our daughters for genuine partnership with their men the 21st century way...So many appalling thought pattern.
Everyone should get into a union with the basic understanding that if they are gonna make babies and raise a home, they have to both work hard towards ensuring the kids have the best. And yes it is a two people thing (finance inclusive). How does a woman say a man has no right to ask how and to what degree she's gonna contribute to the family they are about to start...even terming that gold-digging !...
With all it takes to put a single child ahead these days!....You wan born am for better country, you wan send am go schools wey get class, you wan dey carry go vacation at will, you wan raise them for the best neighborhoods yet as a woman you feel all you have to do is lay down, make babies and watch all your dreams come true!...
My honest advise to every young lady out there, including my relatives and daughter....Before you get married, envision the kinda life you want for your kids, ensure you are empowered enough to make 30 - 40 percent of such a dream come true or you are on a sure path to such an empowerment that can make it possible for you to provide up to 30-40 percent support towards the realization of such dream. Then find a man who is 60-70 percent prepared and want same things.
That way, you both achieve your dreams and the man still sees you as a strong pillar of support without whose input he would have raised a mediocre family!!!...And not some liability he had to cope with all his life Well written! They need to wake up to d fact that, not every man is going to end up a millionaire! |

great664: Una nor dey tire or ashamed of this blame game? Did GEJ met the country in good shape? Did he complained ? They voted you to perform/work not complained about the past..
This thing is tired some..... GEJ Agricultural reform was seen and felt by everyone ,Nigeria was able to boast of Pyamids of food like in the 60's.
Even Dangote built a Tomatoes processing plant because he saw the wastage last 2years courtesy of GEJ, where are they today? Nigeria na import tomatoes that was wasting past year....is GEJ to blame too? The farmers who are beneficiaries ?95% Northerners) are already feeling it, here you are blaming GEJ... Check how he fight the cabals and corruption on agricultural sector that boost the farmers without arresting, jailing or defamating anyone....
Just a clue: The norm has been giving fund to minister of agriculture who in turn buy seeds and fertilizer for farmers (In Nigeria hope you know the norm)
How he fight the corruption: The farmers registered with their finger print and you can't register twice, funds was disbursed directly to their personal account to buy seeds and fertilizer themselves, no more dash as usual or nepotism in sharing seeds as usual or using 10% of the funds and share the rest among chieftains....
That's 21st century ways of fighting corruption.. Not arresting, jailing and wasting tax payers money on court cases.... Wise up Man Funny u! What 21st century way of fighting corruption? Cant blame u sha, in this new age, anything can be explained away if u can think hard enough! Of all d available ministries, na only agric u see? freeze001: I think it is rather uncharitable for the writer to attempt to preempt the Southern Governors and leaders by saying they are going to defend the actions of the NDA.
Secondly, it takes a fairly obtuse person to lump the NDA with the boko haram and fulani herdsmen. One stark contrast is that the later two are murderers pure and simple. Every action they take is geared towards massive human casualty. Again, they have no identifiable cause other than greed and tribal/religious supremacy agenda which informs their modus operandi of killing the 'infidels' according to their kouran and doing so in the name of Allah (boko haram). For the herdsmen, they simply have a bad sense of entitlement hence the audacity with which they sack and take over communities, not without massive murder and pillaging. The NDA however are fighting for the soul and ownership of what is theirs and it is easy to see why unless a person is just plain daft and greedy. Nigerian leadership has proved itself as incapable of being reasoned with. Dialogue has been tried and engaged in over the issue of resource control and system of governance but always remains dead because some in power particularly the North do not want it. Having systematically empowered themselves with unfair majority representation at every level of government including the legislature, they make it clear that it is their way or no way!
The most recent and inclusive effort to address these issues, the CONFAB has been relegated by the same North. History tells everyone what happened to Ken Saro Wiwa again at the hand of a Northerner.
Now, there is no one that knows or feels the effects of environmental degradation more than the Niger Delta indigenes. However, because the Nigerian govt is determined to feed off the South without commensurate recompense, the freedom fighters know to strike at the jugular which is crude oil. Rather than see economic sabotage which is the outcome of their actions, I see a people pushed to the wall, damned tired of being told they count for nothing because of the 'almighty North' and to crown it all, majority of stakeholders in the ownership of resources in the ND come from the same north.
The FG controlled by the North during the military era, by fiat packaged as a Constitution today commandeered the resources if the South as belonging to the FG. Fairness and equity should have seen the same happen to solid minerals scattered over the North and major agricultural resources should have also been controlled by the FG but no, just the South simply because it's easy money.
Now there are rumbles, rather than give due regard n respect to a region, the FG once again run by the north has chosen to play the role of bully by unleashing military action. Same response that boils down to killing innocent people because they're never precise enough to actually gather intelligence, identify and fish out their targets.
The Nigerian government must learn to accord respect to each region in its own right and not by the number of votes cast in support of any govt in power. See the passion with which a whole President defends his kinsmen by saying no one should think of driving 'us' out because he is one of them but makes no attempt to understand the cause of the Niger Delta. Let me not even talk of IPOB and the right to self-determination now. So remind me again why unity is a do or die affair in Nigeria? How exactly is Nigeria one other than having no other country bearing the same name? Its either u're delusional or u're actually daft n greedy! This govt is supposed to start cleaning of d delta region in june; they plan on running a rail track thru it; u've had 13% derivation for ever; d last govt gave unlimited access to funds n power, to d militants\criminals, yet they couldnt achieve any tangible development.
