This may be true in general. But he died in an ICE detention which is not the place for CRIMINALS per say, being not a regular prison. So the death may be as declared.

The big question though is, how could you get a visa to leave shithole Nigeria, you overstay your visa and then raped somebody. What kind of human being does that?

There's been unsubstantied claims that the North feeds Nigeria. That's a big fat lie. How can you feed others when you have not fed yourself? The north has the most malnourished and undernourished humans in the world.

What do they feed the country with?

Cassava is MOSTLY south
Plantain is south
Banana is south
Corn is from everywhere
Rice is everywhere especially south, and before now, mostly imported
Beans is from Niger Republic
Chicken is everywhere including imported frozen chicken
Fish is south and imported
Palm oil is south
Egusi is south
Okra and most leafy vegetables are from the south
Pepper is everywhere 
Orange is south and middle belt
Yam is south and middle belt
Tomato is a little from North but mostly imported as tinned product.
Groundnut is from the North and some from the South.
I can agree with beef and goat, that is all from the core north exclusively. Yet, they feed the cattle mostly in the south. Without grass from the south, cattle from the north will all die off.

So how is the North (Aka Hausa-Fulani and Kanuri) feeding Nigeria?

About 70% of Nigeria's landmass is in the North. Of that, perhaps a little more than half is arable. The rest is useless land. Desertification has taken a toll and Lake Chad has shrunken considerably. Yet, the arable land is largely unused for agriculture, leaving Nigeria food insecure and having to import most of its food.

NB: The core north produces hardy cereals like millet and sorghum. Those are consumed by them exclusively. Most southerners have not eaten millet or sorghum in their lives. So those do not feed southern Nigeria.

They are not all herdsmen as people usually assume. You have the nomadic fulani, the semi-nomadic and the town fulanis. The town fulanis have settled and are no more nomadic. They are very strategic and always fight for the interests of their nomadic brothers. That fight has taken them into the politics of governance and of money where they try to have strategic influence. While other tribes seek relevance in education and trade (which are the main targets of the south) the town fulanis take strategic place in the security segment and in the dominant sectors of the economy.

Nigerians should not frown at efforts to make the fulani herdsmen to become sedentary and possibly become semi-nomadic or even settle as town fulanis. The argument that fulanis will always be nomadic is faulted by the fact that many of them are no longer nomadic. The herdsmen can settle and Nigerians should support efforts to make that happen.

What should not be supported is throwing the borders open for all herdsmen.

Actually, there are very rich fulanis, so rich that they can set up their own development fund, without waiting for funding by government. They can use their own funds to settle herdsmen where they are and let them start to enjoy the benefit of development and education like their counterparts in town. A plan by fulanis for the fulanis may be easier to sell to the herdsmen nomadic fulanis.

Government is needed in the aspects of policy and education (not necessarily some funding that may be hijacked by the wrong people) and this is what the government plan should focus on.

These people are all wealthy. They should set up Foundations to help improve the lives of their kinspeople. They should not use the resources of every Nigerian o improve the lives of few who are related to them by kinship
