Education › Re: He Got 2.2 In Sch And His Dad Became Hostile To Him. by atasteve: 9:41am On Jun 14, 2011
Is the dad a professor? Just joking grin

Gone are the days when certificate is everything!!!

Guys that are doing so fine now are not all 1st and 2.1 graduates as-a-matter-of-fact so many of them are not.

Let him go back home and beg is father, chat his life's course and pursue his dream since what makes people to excel in life is not the course that they studied in school but the things that they love doing.

When he is finally established, his dad will come to terms with him.
Business › Re: Africa Is Mumu Inc: Us Universities(Harvard et al) buying up African lands by atasteve: 9:26am On Jun 14, 2011
Really this is an eye opener to us.

Whether we like it or not, more deals are being finalized everyday around us! sad

If foreigners are taking our resources away then we need to collectively and individually do something.

We in Africa prefer to spend our hard earned money on "wasting assets" e.g. cars, clothes e.t.c. while this smart whites keep acquiring appreciating assets. huh

My piece of advise is that you start buying properties and land because things won't get any better.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Had Third Class In Education by atasteve: 4:06pm On Jun 13, 2011
[b]There are so many things in life that people are not in control of, things happen to people that prevents them from reaching their full potentials.

NOT to worry, i have living example of people that came out with 3rd class honours and are doing fine now (some of them are doing extremely fine!)

Step 1, DO NOT allow any man to redefine you. You are not a failure by any standard but LIFE is just giving you opportunity to restart better. smiley

Step 2, wheather you want ot remain in academics or not, you need to add some flavour to your certificate. You need to enrolling for Post graduate diploma which will give you an oppurtunity to go for Masters.

Step 3, discover your passion and pursue it fervently. If you want to be very rich in life, that is the way to go.

I have seen guys with 3rd class that excelled above their mates (first and second class). If you can dream it, you can do it.

Go and rule your world.

Nairaland General › Re: Is Jesus God? by atasteve: 2:33pm On Jun 03, 2011
Jesus said in several places in the Bible that he that have seen him have seen the father. John10:30

Also John 1:1-5 talked about Jesus being the Lord of All (*God)

Most importantly, Jesus wants us to give our lives to him; so that where he is we may be also.

Stay blessed and rapturable.

Jumyg:
Omonuan

“I have not seen the inside of your house but for 19.5 million, you were ripped-off big time. 19.5m could have built two or three of those from what I can see. Check to see if the person supervising your project has built a better house for himself from your money. Currently, I am building a two-story 30 self contained hostel in P/H and 19.5m will almost complete it give or take a couple of million. This includes land.
Sorry ooo but the paint looks like manure or maybe mud. It is really unfortunate that this happened to you! For 19.5 million you deserve much better.

However, the whole house wreaks of cheap materials. The paint, the railings,windows- infact everything is so mundane to cost 19.5m. I don't even have to see the interior of the house to deduce that it is probably the same level with the outside which is cheap and ordinary.”

You said you wanted to contribute constructively with the above comments, i do not think so.

I said i was cheated because some prices (materials and labour cost) were inflated which was realised later. BUT PLEASE THE WHOLE BUILDING WAS NOT BUILT WITH CHEAP MATERIALS I CAN ASSURE YOU.
I bought some materials myself the toilet and bath wares, tiles and paints.
There is nothing wrong with the paint, i bought the paints myself. It’s called sandy brown and i choose the colour because of dust and dirt.
If you think you can build 3 times what i have done (4 units of 3 bed all ensiute and 2 units of 2 bed all ensuite, toilets bathrooms kitchen living rooms and dinning) with 18m implying 6m for this project, then good luck to you. YOU ARE THE EXPERT. NO WAHALA MR CHEAP AND ORDINARY.

It’s easy for you guys around to source for materials and labour at reasonable price.

I am sure i have not done too badly and 17m would have been ideal cost if i was around to manage my project, already making my money back no wahala.
@Jumyg, kudos for the job welldone. Even if the whole structure was built with "mud and sand", what i am seeing is a good job for somebody staying outside Nigeria. Since you have won in this project + knowledge acquired from this thread = more success in your other projects. Without any cloud of confusion I GIVE IT TO YOU 100%. Good job, strong African woman! smiley

Spyder,

Well done oh. How much do you think will complete your house (estimate) with standard finishing?

I have spent N19.5 million on Main building of 4 units of 3bedrooms flats and BQ of 2 units of 2 bedrooms flats with standard finishing and the compound floor plastered. I started the project in 2009 and it’s now completed. Would you say that was a reasonable amount spent.
@Jumyg, please let's see pix of the great beauty. wink

spyder880:
My brother, I tire o, I dont even know what to do again. Dont worry, lets watch things a little bit more and see if there will be repentance.
What I have been thinking since yesterday is why that particular joke got him annoyed. There was a nice picture of a bungalow front with swimming pool which I posted here and told the guy that his house will look like that, he was happy, why was he happy about that joke and why didnt he get the joke of the last one, is there anything like 'whale skin leather chair' or 'hanging gardens' .
I dont like atmospheres where I will be boxed into a tight corner and forced to select my words like I am living in a prison. Its a free world, and if people are uptight and rigid, we are not going to enjoy the best things of life.
I will advise that this thread should be kept going while Am ALONE, spyder880 and all the "great Generals" keep sharing their experiences and progresses WITHOUT REFERRING to their PERCEIVED QUALITY of other people's work.
I will strongly advise against tampering with this thread because like it has been severally said, we all have gained a lot out of this thread and there are so many SILENT builders that visit here from time to time to get tips.
No need being bitter and tearing ourselves down since we are all brothers/sisters smiley
