Christianity EtcRe: Top 5 Christian Things That Make Atheists Laugh by AtheistD(m): 8:49pm On Jun 21, 2012
Evolution a myth?? Really?? Do people still doubt evolution??

What about the origins of the Earth?

What about the origins of the Universe (Big Bang Theory)?

These are no longer sci-fi style theories. The evidence to support them is overwhelming.
ComputersRe: Is Tablet Pc's Taking Laptops Out Of Fashion? by AtheistD(m): 8:23pm On Jun 20, 2012
I predicted the growth of mobile computing over a decade ago. I believe that yes they and netbooks will take over laptops and desktops. The key is portability and battery life.

brito: Do u go to church? Meet your Pastor for counselling and prayers.
Its not proper to get married to a divorcee, its not scriptural. seek proper advice
before jumping in. You may regret later in your life. "LATE" is better than "TOO LATE"
Not proper to marry a divorcee? So if someone gets divorced they need to live in sin? Or not have intimate relations until they die? This is the sort of stuff that makes divorcees and single mums second class citizens.

gegee: all these tablets dont they have thesame function as a normal computer ? undecided
No. Real computers are more powerful. It is the battery life, portability and apps that make tablets preferred. I am looking forward to the desktop version of windows 8 too.

PoliticsRe: Police Contact Banks In Search For Lawan’s $620,000 Bribe by AtheistD(m): 9:22am On Jun 19, 2012
Demdem: i wonder why farouk wasnt arrested immediately when he collected the money and leaving otedola's abode since we were made to understand its a string operation.
here is what i feel will subsequently happen:
The police will continue to search for the money till kingdom come, since their is no evidence, farouk wont even see any court process let alone jail, he will be recalled back to the house and continue his job. In between, the executives will be happy deceiving themselves that that the report has lost its legitimacy and Farouk will be well compensated by the killer party for facilitating this with the governorship slot of Kano state in the next election.
In summary, till i see Farouk in jail, i see no useless string operation but a collaboration between members of the same killer party all in an effort to rubbish the Subsidy report.
Simple solution: scrap the reoort, do a new one with a new committee. Also set up a committee to investigate the bribery in the previous report.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Wants All Christians To Convert To Islam by AtheistD(m): 6:05pm On Jun 18, 2012
abbey621: Atheist:-D : Perhaps you misinterpreted my statement, I'm not saying the Holy Roman Catholic Church was the oldest church, I'm saying it is the foundation that expanded Christianity. Yes, the original Church of Jesus. The apostles with the Great Commission took territories: St James, in Jerusalem; St Peter in Rome, Andrew in Constantinople, Ignatius in Antioch [originally founded by St Peter], Mark in Alexandria. The apostles creed called it ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH; catholic as in universal. It was called the Jesus way, the Holy Church with HQ in Jerusalem and St James as its 1st Bishop. Unfortunately, the Jerusalem church was disseminated by the Jews and Muslims later. Christianity could have been annihilated without the Roman Church. By the design and will of God, the Roman Church [founded somewhere in 44 AD]headed by St Peter then gained strenght and wisdom; It is still the only church that can lay claim to completing the first and most recognizable version of the bible.
Foundation... I think not. The larger Church was the Orthodox Chirch in Constantinople. In fact the Catholic Church was nearly vanquished during the invasions of Italy by the Lombards, moors and of course prior to that the Vandals.

In terms of the spread of Chriastianity, the growth of Christainity in Western and Eastern Europe was divided almost equally between Orthodox until the second siege of Constantinople by the muslims...600AD roughly. Prior to that Catholicism was in France, England, Scotlsnd, Italy and possibly Germsny, Low countries etc. Spain was Visigothic and hence Arian until muslim invasion, same as most of North Africa (near Carthage etc). The balkans, and other parts near the Adriatic and even parts of Italy Orthodox. Greece and Turkey(Anatolia) were Orthodox. After the sacking of Constantinople (4th crusades) Catholicism became dominant. This was rougly 1200s onwards.

abbey621: It's high time someone sets the record straight! I have long been disgusted by the useless rantings and commotion caused by religion. What exactly is religion? If not a point of view passed on from generations to generations about who God is and the best way of worshiping him. Name one proof that says Islam is better than Christianity or vice-versa. Useless goats on this thread have been shouting, Islam is a religion of violence, Islam commands the killing and slaying of non-muslims. Is Christianity any better? Go back and read your history books, look into the Holy crusades caused by the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the slaying of non-Christians, we all know that all factions of Christianity comes from the Catholic church, so is it not fair to say Christianity also promoted violence? A lot of you ignorant youths lack the necessary knowledge to ever accuse any religion of wrong-doing because you have been brainwashed by your society and religious leaders, the simple truth about religion is that it tears people apart, it makes you view one another as different instead of the simple truth that we all come from the same tree, we all came to this world through the same process and we all shall die one day. Let's be realistic here, Nigeria is one of the most religious countries in the world, every where you turn there is either a church or a mosque, yet so much hatred and destabilization, if that is not proof of what I'm saying then all of you need some serious reality check! Instead of you to fight the government, you sit here and cowardly accuse each other, tell me who is better than the other, one failure calling the other a reject, vanity upon vanity. I assure you no one would fight for Nigeria, if Nigerians don't unite and fight for themselves, you can't divide the county based on religion because not all Muslims are evil and not all Christians are saints, you can't divide the country based on ethnicity because Igbos have married Yoruba and Yorubas have married Hausas with each bearing offsprings, so if we must divide, let's divide based on one common interest, those for Nigeria and those against Nigeria!

Not accurate. Christianity was much vaster than just the Catholic CHurch. The main churches were as follows:

1. Church of Jerusalem (Until conquered by the muslims)
2. Church of Syria in Damascus (Until conquered by the muslims)

3. Church of Antioch in Anatolia (Until conquered by the muslims)

4. Church of Alexandria (Until conquered by the muslims)

5. Church of Corinth (Fell under the See of theChurch of Constantinople)
6. Church of Constantinople (Orthodox church of the East) (Until conquered by the muslims)

7. Church in Rome (Roman Catholic)

There were many other churches but these were technically the centres of Christianoty. The First COuncil of Nicaea had these as the main attendants.

The Russian Orthodox church grew out of the Church of Constantinople (Orthodox church of the East).
