Romance / Ladies Do You Care Where Your Man Is Sourcing Money For The Wedding? by Audu123(m): 4:28pm On Aug 23, 2014
Its no secret most naija babes like a flamboyant wedding. In most cases the man foots most of the bil. Do the ladies care where this money comes from? It could be the guy saved all this while, or he could be getting himself into debt to sponsor wedding.

Ladies married and soon to marry do you know or care where your man sources the bill?

Family / Re: Most Painful Death Of A Loved One You Had by Audu123(m): 12:38pm On Oct 06, 2013
Lost a cousin on Jan. 4, 2004. Saw her the day before she died. Next day, she wanted to stifle a sneeze (keep it from sounding loud) and in the process, she burst a vein in her head (if U are used to doing this, pls learn from this). By noon, she died.

I always do that by blocking my nose! Never again!

Hi, please refer to my response to the other fella. Again, I recommend visiting the immigration website as it has all information you will need.

macrichie: @audu, thanks a lot for the information you shared.

I will like to ask if you also have any information on the Newzealand skilled worker scheme. How to go about the application process, and how to secure the resident permit. Since you are there I'm very sure u will be of great help.

Thanks!

I will recommend you visit the immigration website as it has more information than I can give you. But i will give you some info here to get you started.

The Essential Skills in Demand (ESID) Lists help to ensure New Zealand’s skills needs are met by facilitating the entry of appropriately skilled migrants to fill identified skill shortages.

There are three lists:
the Long-term Skill Shortage List
the Immediate Skill-shortage List
the Canterbury Skill-shortage List

Long-term Skill Shortage List
The Long-term Skill Shortage List (sometimes referred to as LTSSL) identifies occupations where there is a sustained and ongoing shortage of highly skilled workers both globally and throughout New Zealand. If you gain employment in one of these occupations, you may be granted a work visa under the Work to Residence category. After two years, Work to Residence visa holders are eligible to apply for residence, provided they meet standard requirements and work in an occupation on the Long-term List that has a base salary of at least NZ$45,000.
Skilled Migrant Category
If you are applying for residence under the Skilled Migrant Category and you have an offer of employment, work experience, or qualifications in an area of work on the Long-term List, you may gain bonus points towards your application for residence.
Immediate Skill Shortage List
The Immediate Skill-shortage List (sometimes referred to as ISSL) includes occupations where skilled workers are immediately required in New Zealand. It facilitates the approval of temporary work visa applications. If you apply for a work visa based on an offer of employment in an occupation that is included on the Immediate skill shortage list and you meet the requirements specified in the list, Immigration New Zealand will recognise there are no New Zealand citizens or residents available to take up the position. This removes the need to conduct a ‘labour market test’, enabling faster processing of the application.

If you are granted a work visa based on an occupation on this list, then you can only stay in New Zealand temporarily. You won’t necessarily be able to apply for residence.
Canterbury Skill Shortage List
Canterbury has special labour market needs because of the need to rebuild the region following recent earthquakes. The Canterbury Skill Shortage List (sometimes referred to as CSSL) contains occupations in critical shortage. If you have skills that appear on the Canterbury Skill Shortage List, then you may qualify for a temporary work visa.

If you meet the requirements of the occupations listed and you have a job offer in Canterbury, you may be granted a temporary work visa without a labour market check. The Canterbury List also draws on the occupations on the Immediate and Long-term Skill Shortage Lists that are relevant to the Canterbury rebuild. If the occupation is on the Long-term List, then you may also be able to apply for residence.

Demaejy:
That's very informative, thank you. Please, could you give information on their schools and how to obtain a visa, how easy it ?

They have good quality universities, each one has good reputation in specific courses. As long as you fulfill requirements obtaining a visa is easy. You need to apply to a university first. Once you have been accepted and have paid the fees, you then apply for your visa. Its pretty straight forward. This is the immigration website: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/study/application/

The website has all the information you need.

Hello

I am a Nigerian in New Zealand. There is a small but growing community of Nigerians in NZ, mostly Yoruba and Igbo. The New Zealand economy is alight, not the best but certainly better than Europe. A lot of people use NZ to get citizenship and then move to Australia which has a booming economy now thanks to the mining industry.

New Zealand has a very relaxed lifestyle, Auckland the largest city is very multicultural with a large populations from Asia, Europe, pacific islands and some from Africa and south America. The only problem with NZ is that the place far no be small, you go chop plane tire on your way.

Foreign students are allowed to work 20 hours a week while studying and they can work any hours over the summer holiday (Nov - Feb). Racism is next to zero here, it happens but it's not institutionalised, its more from individual people who cant tolerate others. I myself have not experienced any racism for the 8 years I have been here.

If you want to know more do ask.

Culture / Re: Origin Of The Name Aboki? by Audu123(m): 1:14pm On Aug 28, 2011
It means friend in hausa, and is also used as a way to address a person like how the word "guy" will be used in this sentence: "guy, how far?" However, it now has a second meaning, usually derogatory when used by a non hausa  person towards a hausa person.

You can say it is now used in a similar way to the word "anyamiri" which is a derogatory word used by hausa to refer to igbo

Family / Re: Why Do Men Cheat ( Strictry For Females) by Audu123(m): 5:46am On Jun 25, 2011
Men cheat because they evolved to spread their DNA and increase the chances that their DNA is passed on. Just look at the animal world most male animals will do it with as many females as possible.

Of course we are human and have set "rules" that restrict the male from spreading his DNA, its nly the strongest of men that will not cheat if cornered in a room with a fine sisi and guaranteed 100% that he will not be found out.
Travel / Re: Is The Uk Worth Staying In Anymore Or Should One Consider Moving Back To Nigeria by Audu123(m): 2:17pm On Jun 24, 2011
@Poster; I feel your pain about the current UK economic situation. What we are experiencing now in the UK is a "perfect storm" of escalating taxes, unfavourable immigrant policies, new "ConDemed" racist government, and lack of jobs. Surely, if people who have jobs with fat salaries of £50,000/year can complain that they have little or no savings, then what becomes of the rest of us. Personally, I am planning on relocating to warmer climes like New Zealand where they have a much more lax tax regime coupled with a favourable approach towards immigrants. Even EU countries like Germany and France have much more better economic policies than the UK; here in the UK, it seems we are penalised for earning high wages. It's s/h/y/t?e to be honest, anything but UK for me

I live in New Zealand and things are getting hard here as well. prices are rising and the economy is struggling. I dont know much about living in the uk but I was there two years ago and food was much cheaper there. New Zealand's economy is based on agriculture, mainly dairy and lamb, and beef, but people cant even afford lamb any more because prices have risen so high due to increased demand from the growing middle class in china. People are relocating to Australia which is one of the few countries that wasnt affected by the recession, however, its economy has started to slow down at the moment, still Australia is way better.
Religion / Are There Any Female Naija Babes That Are Atheists Or Agnostic? by Audu123(m): 7:08am On May 15, 2011
I'm just curious as I have never met any Nigerian girl that does not whole heartedly believe in her religion even though they might not be practising for real.

I mean naija babes that grew up in Naija and went through the religious indoctrination we are all familiar with in naija.
Politics / Igbos And The Presidency by Audu123(m): 2:46am On Apr 17, 2011
I don't' get it. Do Igbos think they will enter the presidency? After Goodluck in 2019, it will be Sambo for another 8 years. Anybody that thinks Goodluck is leaving in 2015 is deluded.

Politics / Here Are Your Candidates: by Audu123(m): 4:19pm On Jan 14, 2011
Nuhu Ribadu (ACN), Mohammadu Buhari (CPC) and GoodLuck Jonathan (PDP). Look at their past records, see what they have achieved, see how well they have performed in past and present appointments and decide on who the right person is that can transform Nigeria and wrestle it from the corrupt system that has pervaded every level of government. This might be the last chance for our country.

Romance / Online Dating In Nigeria by Audu123(m): 11:26am On Dec 28, 2010
Hi guys, how common and acceptable is online dating in Nigeria. I have been away from Nigeria for a long time so I have no idea how acceptable this form of dating is. In New Zealand it is quite common and acceptable and many couples start that way.

What are your opinions on online dating etc?

Thank you.
Romance / Re: Marry A Chinese Man - A lot of them are Single and Hungry for a Woman by Audu123(m): 4:09am On Nov 19, 2010
You do not see Chinese guys with non Chinese girls because apart from Chinese girls, most girls do not find Chinese men attractive.

I live in New Zealand where there is a sizable Chinese population, in Auckland CBD you will think you are in Hong Kong because there are so many. On the other hand, the Asian girls like white guys because they think every white man is a David beckham or George clooney that they see in the movies.

Whenever the president transmits to the President of the senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-Presidents as Acting President.

I see that you have conveniently ignored where it clearly says WRITTEN, obviously Yaradua's BBC interview was not written.
