There was an accident involving a cement-laden truck and a Toyota Camry earlier today in Lagos.

The truck is believed to be one in the fleet of Cement manufacturing giant - Dangote Cement.

The accident occurred atGoYe junction inward Dopemu Bridge.

Officers of the Nigeria Police were available to contain traffic situation at the scene of the accident.

We at AUTOJOSH came across this story on a car page on Instagram and we thought it wise to share it with you on our platform. This is a story of how a car dealer was unknowingly implicated in a kidnap case by car buyers.

The car dealer did not see any of the problem coming and never suspected a thing until he was nabbed.

Three men visited a car stand. They asked for the pricing of a 2013 Toyota Camry and the seller told them the price (say 5 million naira). They asked him for his account details and after 2 days, they transferred 3 million naira into his account.

Immediately after the transfer, they came to him and told him they are sorry but they couldn’t complete the cash; so the car dealer should give them 2 million -five hundred thousand naira and keep the other five hundred thousand naira on it as fees for inconvenience on his part. The car dealer happily did that and was happy he got 500k as fees for doing almost nothing.
Fast forward to 3 days time, he had his car stand invaded by F-SARS and anti kidnapping squads. They asked if he was the owner of the account and Nabbed him immediately He admitted to ownership of the account; then it dawned in him what was really happening.

The guys were kidnappers and they used his account to receive kidnap ransom making him culpable in the offense. He paid them cash with no trace and they made It look like the 500k was his own share of the loot! Now he is in very deep trouble but it could have been avoided.

That’s it people, stay safe and be very careful. Don’t go looking for quick cash or commissions without doing your DD. Let wisdom guide you always and don’t be greedy!

Motion sickness is usually caused by the disagreement between the vestibular system’s sense of movement and visually perceived movement, typically resulting from travel is known as motion sickness. In a simpler context, it is caused by conflicting signals in the inner ear, eyes, and sensory receptors.

Motion sickness can be caused by the repeated movement of a car; like when a car enters pot holes or moves over bumps repeatedly. Irregular passage of air in a moving car can also lead to motion sickness.

Symptoms of car (motion) sickness:

Quick feeling you need to throw up (nausea)
Dizziness
Increase in saliva production
Loss of appetite
Pale skin

In addition to the above symptoms, some people get headaches, feel very tired, or have shallow breathing.

Please, motion sickness is not contagious.

7 Ways to effectively handle car (motion) sickness:

1. Motion sickness can reduced by making sure the car one is traveling in is well ventilated. The individual who’s affected can do well to sit near the window in order to receive enough air.

2. Avoid operation of electronic gadgets because this sometimes leads to dizziness. Avoid reading.

3. Closing your eye can be of help and try to remove your focus from the moving car; maybe counting backwards from 100 to 0.

4. Look at stable objects. You can fix your gaze through the windshield.

5. Avoid alcohol, eat lightly and don’t fast.

6. Avoid eating heavy or spicy food during travel to avoid feeling sick afterwards.

7. Some people feel like they get relief by consuming these edibles:

Raw ginger – There’s some scientific proof that this root is an effective remedy for nausea.
Mint – Eating peppermint is thought to calm the body. At the very least, the aroma may soothe you.

Exactly ten hours ago, we posted a news on Innoson’s claims of taking over GTBank. In a press statement released by the indigenous automobile company, the Chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma, OFR through a Writ of FiFa took over Guaranty Trust Bank PLC for and on behalf of Innoson Nigeria Ltd as a result of the Bank’s indebtedness to Innoson Nigeria Ltd.

In reaction to the news which had already gone viral, GTBank speaks up.

It was a near-fatal accident.

It occurred at the early hours of today at the Ketu bridge, inward Ikorodu.

A container fell off an articulated vehicle and landed on a commercial bus popular referred to as Danfo. The Danfo was filled with passengers.

Thankfully, all the passengers in the crushed Danfo were rescued.  It took the spirited intervention of officials of LASEMA to rescue a trapped passenger in the danfo.

Officials of the RRS were on ground to manage the traffic build up.

It was quite a surprise for the passengers onboard a British Airways flight which took off from London’s City Airport to Dusseldorf in Germany, but it mistakenly landed in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.

According to CNN, the travel error happened because of an incorrectly filed flight plan, leading both the pilot and cabin crew to believe the flight was bound for Edinburgh.

The flight was operated by German leasing company WDL Aviation on behalf of the British Airways subsidiary airline BA CityFlyer. The incorrect flight plan was filed at WDL Aviation’s offices in Germany.

After landing in Edinburgh and then realizing the mistake, the plane took off for the second time to Dusseldorf, Germany.

The captain subsequently apologized to the passengers, telling them the plane would refuel before heading to Germany.

In a statement, a spokesperson for British Airways said the airline was working with WDL Aviation “to establish why the incorrect flight plan was filed.”

“We have apologized to customers for this interruption to their journey and will be contacting them all individually,” the spokesperson said.

WDL Aviation said in a statement: “We are working closely with the authorities to investigate how the obviously unfortunate mix-up of flight schedules could occur. At no time has the safety of passengers been compromised. We flew the passengers on the flight with number BA3271 to Dusseldorf after the involuntary stopover in Edinburgh.”

The Oshodi-Apapa expressway is one of Nigeria’s most economically crucial roads.

It leads to the Apapa and Tin Can ports. These ports are where Nigeria generates a large chunk of its national income.

Tragically, this important expressway and other major roads around it have become a source of pain, sorrow, agony and national embarrassment.

This Oshodi-Apapa expressway – especially the Mile 2-Tin Can axis of the expressway -  has been taken over by hundreds of thousands of fuel tankers, container-laden articulated vehicles and sundry trucks heading for the Tin Can Island Port or the fuel tank farm at the Trinity Bus Stop area.

At the Mile 2 portion of the expressway towards Tin Can Island Port, there is literally no road. What used to be the road is now a dilapidated, potholes and craters-infested stretch.

Simply, the stretch of road from Mile 2 to Tin Can is a picture of monumental filth.

In 2015, when Babatunde Raji Fashola was appointed as the Federal Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Lagosians breathed a sigh of relief.

The expectation was so high that - as a Lagos boy - the road would be of utmost priority to the Ministry he heads.

Sadly, it has not shown to be so.

It has almost become a daily event.

It is the activities of armed robbers on the Benin-Ore stretch of the Lagos-Benin expressway.

These attacks typically start with armed bandits – sometimes shooting sporadically – blocking one side of the expressway with a vehicle. This makes it easy for them to rob the travelers heading towards Ore-Sagamu or to Benin and the eastern part of the country.

Travelers are robbed of their money, handsets and other personal belongings, while some abandoned their vehicles and run into the bush for safety.

On-coming motorists, who get wind of the attack ahead of them, make U-turns to escape the robbery scene.

The escaping motorists – when within a safe distance from the robbery scene – assemble and watch from a distance how unlucky travelers – typically in mass transit vehicles – are robbed and subjected to harrowing experiences.

During the robbery attack, vehicles coming from Benin and heading toward Lagos or coming from Lagos and heading towards Benin or Akure are held for close to an hour, causing gridlock on the ever busy road.

Curiously, the police highway patrol team are never anywhere near these scenes of robbery attacks.

For some bizarre reason, they always seem to show up when the robbers have departed the scene of their evil enterprise. Thus, giving room for suspicion of the connivance of the police in the robbery.

The consistency of these attacks is really given frequent travelers on that expressway a serious cause for worries.

The Ondo and Edo command of the Nigeria police force and other security agencies need to do more to provide security for Nigerians that travel along that stretch of highway.

With the frequency of armed robbers attack at this road, the Benin-Ore express road should rank as one of the most dangerous roads in the country.

The Swedish Automaker reveals a new step in its ambitions to end fatalities in its cars by addressing the issues of intoxication and distraction. They have plans to begin installations in their cars from early 2020.

Apart from speeding, which the company aims to help combat with a top speed limit, intoxication and distraction are two other primary areas of concern for traffic safety. Together, these three areas constitute the main ‘gaps’ towards Volvo Cars’ vision of a future with zero traffic fatalities and require a focus on human behaviour in the company’s safety work as well.

For example, figures by NHTSA show that in the United States, almost 30 per cent of all traffic fatalities in vehicles in 2017 involved intoxicated drivers.

Volvo Cars believes intoxication and distraction should be addressed by installing in-car cameras and other sensors that monitor the driver and allow the car to intervene if a clearly intoxicated or distracted driver does not respond to warning signals and is risking an accident involving serious injury or death.

That intervention could involve limiting the car’s speed, alerting the Volvo on Call assistance service and, as a final course of action, actively slowing down and safely parking the car.

“When it comes to safety, our aim is to avoid accidents altogether rather than limit the impact when an accident is imminent and unavoidable,” says Henrik Green, Senior Vice President, Research & Development at Volvo Cars. “In this case, cameras will monitor for behaviour that may lead to serious injury or death.”

Examples of such behavior include a complete lack of steering input for extended periods of time, drivers who are detected to have their eyes closed or off the road for extended periods of time, as well as extreme weaving across lanes or excessively slow reaction times.

A driver monitoring system as described above is an important element of allowing the car to actively make decisions in order to help avoid accidents that could result in severe injuries or death.

“There are many accidents that occur as a result of intoxicated drivers,” says Trent Victor, Professor of Driver Behaviour at Volvo Cars. “Some people still believe that they can drive after having had a drink, and that this will not affect their capabilities. We want to ensure that people are not put in danger as a result of intoxication.”

Introduction of the cameras on all Volvo models will start on the next generation of Volvo’s scalable SPA2 vehicle platform in the early 2020s. Details on the exact amount of cameras and their positioning in the interior will follow at a later stage.

Today’s announcement should be viewed together with the company limiting the top speed on all its cars to 180 kph from model year 2021, in order to send a strong signal about the dangers of speeding.

The company wants to start a conversation about whether car makers have the right or maybe even the obligation to install technology in cars that changes their drivers’ behaviour. Both the speed limit and the installation of in-car cameras illustrate how car makers can take active responsibility for the aim of achieving zero traffic fatalities by supporting better driver behaviour.

Volvo Cars today also revealed the Care Key, which allows Volvo drivers to impose limitations on the car’s top speed on all cars from model year 2021, before lending their car to others.

The Care Key, the monitoring cameras, the speed limit as well existing driver assistance systems all serve one single aim: to support safer driving.

The chance of surviving an air crash is very slim and as such is a disaster when they occur. According to statistics, most air crash occur during takeoffs or landing. Crashes during aircraft cruising are very minimal.

According to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, aviation accident is defined as an occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft, which takes place from the time any person boards the aircraft with the intention of flight until all such persons have disembarked, and in which:


A person is fatally or seriously injured
The aircraft sustains significant damage or structural failure
The aircraft goes missing or becomes completely inaccessible.


It is worthy of mention to say that the first fatal aviation accident was near Wimereux, France, on the 15th day of June, 1785. The crash killed Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier who is the balloon inventor, and the other occupant, Pierre Romain.

According to the research we at Autojosh were able to put together, the first plane crash in Nigeria occurred on April 12, 1942 at about 8:15pm on Igbo Ilapa Hill. It is a hill in Ikogosi town of Ekiti state. Ikogosi is the town where warm and cold spring co-exists on a spot. It attracted a lot of tourists.

The crash was during the World War II. A cargo plane loaded with ammunition which included explosives. Even after the crash, the explosives kept exploding for several hours. The explosion set the entire forest on fire which ended up destroying everything that existed there. Till this moment, two hole riddled engines and other body parts of the plane still lies on the hill.

When it comes to the first Nigerian owned aircraft to crash in Nigeria, Nigeria as a country recorded its first plane crash on November 20, 1969. The crashed aircraft was a government-owned DC-10 aircraft. It was traveling from London and ended up crash-landing in Lagos. The crash claimed the lives of 87 passengers and a crew on board.

The car group sold 10.6 million vehicles worldwide in 2017; this made the alliance the leading vehicle manufacturer in the world.

Together, the partners sold more than 10.7 million vehicles in nearly 200 countries in 2018. The member companies are focused on collaboration and maximizing synergies to boost competitiveness.

They have strategic collaborations with other automotive groups, including Germany's Daimler and China's Dongfeng.

This strategic alliance is the industry leader in zero-emission vehicles and is developing the latest advanced technologies, with plans to offer autonomous drive, connectivity features and mobility services on a wide range of affordable vehicles.

The alliance was formed by Louis Schweitzer and Yoshikazu Hanawa 19 years ago, 27 March 1999.

The alliance have their headquarter in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

These are pictures of a supposed mechanic carrying 4 big tyres in a moving motorcycle. He has one of the tyres worn around his waist; one in between him and the bike rider and then two on his both hands.

It worthy of mention to say both the bike rider and his passenger is not safe. The bike man isn’t riding the bike comfortably and his passenger isn’t sitting comfortably too. A little error somewhere can make both of them land to the ground. And you know what that implies.

According to a report which we have not been able to verify, a man crashed a Mercedes Benz C-Class 4Matic he borrowed.

It was alleged that the Benz was crashed while the driver was overspeeding.

The driver who borrowed the car came out from the crashed car alive with some bruises.

You just have to be very careful when driving someone else’s car so you don’t have much explanations and repairs to render.

Behold one of the biggest and busiest highways in China – the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway.

The highway can accommodate up to 50 lanes for vehicles. The picture you see is an aerial view of the highway when it’s gripped by traffic congestion.

According to reports, the traffic jam was caused be a new checkpoint which made 50 lanes to merge into 20 lanes. That reduction of lane is more than enough to cause much traffic jam. Roads should be expanding and not getting smaller.

These pictures were taken when millions of people headed home at the end of a Golden Week, a week-long national holiday.

It’s no surprise to see such traffic jam in China where industrialization and the population of the country is massive. In the year 2010, China recorded a traffic jam that spanned more than 74 miles on the stretch. Some of the drivers were stuck in traffic for a staggering 12 horrible days.

We ‘ve not been able to see this SUV in Nigeria, and today, one was spotted being offloaded and cleared from the wharf.
