FOR ME TO TRAVEL FROM MY LOCATION TO ABIA IS TOO FAR PLUS MY PADI(STRUCTURAL ENGR) WHICH IS IN LAGOS TO BE THERE TOGETHER IS TOO FAR.
I finally ask some other questions,d man now can feel straight in telling me his name but never tell d country he his cos i don't need to ask or was wat i did wrong?

Am sure the painter is not a nairalander,he for don charge 500k under the disguise of charging per SQM.They are always afraid to post their rediculous price here cause of critiscism they will rather ask you to WhatsApp them privately.

GM @Aventure The builder just confirmed to me this morning that the quotations is for each land. Its a 120 x 60 land and yes 12 Courses. Do you think the Fence quotation is on a high? Please advice.

Some suspicious characters threw in figures and and dropped phone numbers for further engagement and possible slam dunking.

Some concerned house members saw a rat and started screaming "everybody hold tight to your wallets o"

They were screaming because some basic questions are not asked and they hurried to drop names and numbers, so it seems fishy.

Asphaltsolution:

However poorly constructed Asphalt pavements suffer too. Cons of using Asphalt include:-

- Relatively short lifespan: Needs to be resurfaced and maintained throughout the years.

- Has an oily texture that softens in heat and sunlight.

- Has rough edges.

In terms of affordability, Asphalt pavements are the most cost-effective for constructing/rehabilitating roads and driveways. A well paved asphalt surface will last long without the need for immediate maintenance. Asphalt is recyclable, meaning old and worn out sections can be milled off, reheated and re-paved all in a day!


Very informative. I have do e couple of reinforced concrete road I can confidently support your argument that reinforced RC road is costlier than asphalt. And even after RC road u can still use asphalt as a wearing course and this will make your RC road to last very Long. For Instance all the long bridges repair recently on Lagos-Ibadan Express way was combination of RC bridge and asphalt as a wearing course, in the process of repair Julius Berger just remove the wearing course and replace with a new asphalt.

To be honest saying one uses brain while the other uses hand is not a good analogy & it is quite demeaning. You could have simply said one is more theoretical & a conceiver, which put one on a pedestal. As the conceiving stage is usually the most difficult. while the other is more practical & carry out the practicalities.
But they both require brain to carry out any function, whether theory or practical.

Even if u are renting it out, human beings will still rent it, not animals. So if a building is bad for u structurally or anyone, one should rectify it as we are living in structures built by others where ever we are...
But the truth is there is absolutely nothing wrong with your building, any architect will agree with me that 6" blocks are use for buildings of your size, u even have money for using 9 inches blocks. As long as it is a bungalow, structurally your building is absolutely sound. Nothing to fear.
As regards the head beam, if u have money, it is good, it will help to reduce the roof load & also help chain your building, since your lintel wasn't a chained one. But if u don't have enough money, u can still roof, roofing for two bedroom bungalow isn't much, your building can withstand it.
In all, your building is perfectly okay, it is a bungalow & a small one.

I advocate that these people have a say in our affairs And shouldn't be segregated or made to feel bad. I don't blame the woman, she probably was in love with the man And felt telling him her deep secrets would make him abscond, leaving her heart shattered into pieces. she probably had told her previous partners and it didn't yield anything positive. Please let's show love to people with special disabilities. physical disability doesn't mean mental ability. We are all one and people need to understand that these people didn't choose to be the way they are. things like this make them feel inferior.

I Just the read all these guys story, we need to be fear to both contractor, artisans, and the owner that is dishing out the money. I do understand it's take time and effort to put those quotations together, in my opinion some stipend should be paid to whom ever put those quotes in for the job, regardless of the outcome. That is been fear in my opinion. My second point is the most disturbing one to me. When one received 3 quotations, from 3 different people that as know connections with one another, if the differences is between 100k - 300k one can make decisions on which one of them provide good services with less headache, even with little higher price then his competitor. But in most case reality what we saw in margin of million between them. Guess what, many of us will do, just dump them all start calling those old workers that build our dad, uncle, brothers, anti, homes. At the end of the day we spend less for the job, from all those quotations that we received earlier.

This is sad. This is expected in an environment without "standard". This is what you get when there's no standard. You are experiencing first hand as a seasoned contractor what real clients​ suffer because you contractors refused to accept the notion that there should be a standard charge in the building industry. With a standard charge, clients can plan. So if any contractor quote to deliver below the the standard charge, fine and if you quote to above standard charge and the client is aware this is above the standard charge and happy to go ahead, fine. Everyone is happy and the contractor is mobilised and the kurukere to steal from the client starts. This is what is getting us mad.

Now to your professional take with this whole debate will be taken on board. Now we clients will shout to high heaven if small thing go wrong for site and will rush to Nairaland. I don't believe in customer is always right. Na lie. So if as a contractor, you've done all that is professionally expected of you and the client is taken undue advantage of your prospecting for business, come to Nairaland and shout as well. Client and contractor should respect each other.

In terms of quote, what is usually done here is the quote is free only if you get the job. So you advertise your quote fee and the customer pays upfront if you get the job, the quote fee is deducted from your
Professional charge. This eliminates freeloaders.
