Top of the day Friends, URGENT ADVICE NEEDED PLS

I have just done an online application to the Nigerian high commision for renewal of my passport.
I saw one is no longer allowed to book appointments but advised to strictly attend the date provided on the payment receipt

I applied on 14th June and was given a date on the 22nd June.
I have never been there before, Moreso I am not familiar with London.

Can one call them to defer this date? What is the most convenient way to travel to london from West midlands ..Train or drive ?, I would actually prefer driving because of the COVID pandemic but I have heard a lot about driving in London, What about car park?
What time is best to arrive at the embassy?

Thanks

Hi boss,

Incidentally I’m in the same shoes I’ve tried calling them without of success and I’ve been booked for an appointment for 23rd June.

I’m having to come from Scotland and worried that I might waste time and money.

Can you pls dm me. Would like to know your experience.

Thanks
Crime / Re: The Boys In The Video Are Not ABSU Students - Governor Orji by awardeez: 3:19am On Sep 20, 2011
If you wana know how empty headed nigerians are. then come on to NL and attempt to read their arguements,
Extremely
aloy/emeka:

How are you sure the video is real?. Anybody who attended college in Nigeria should know that there is no way these boys will remain anonymous till now even if their father is IBB. Are you saying that no ABSU law student has seen this report online and made inquiries on their own?. Theodore Orji investigated through the VC and they could not identify any student who matched the voices and faces on the video including the lady.

Let us learn to keep our emotions in check. Was it not somebody who leaked the video to the press or whomever?. Why don't they start from there and ask him/her how he/she obtained the video?. What is the big deal about identifying 5 boys in a school that has roughly 3000 students?. What is the big deal identifying one boy in a 4th year law school that has not more than 60 students?. We are not talking DNA technology or rocket science here, are we?

Politics / Is Bianca A Gold-digger Or Truthful Wife To Dim Emeka Ojukwu? by awardeez: 1:03am On Feb 14, 2011

Watching the NTAi live programme on Thursday February 9, 2011 and at about 1640 hrs when the PDP northwest kick-off campaign ended with the national anthem, the station switched to APGA Delegate Conference (live) unannounced.

What I saw was described by an Igbo friend as absurd in Igbo cultural context. Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu’s was at the podium unperturbed; a woman whose husband is under life-support in a far away European hospital. At the podium, instead of remaining quiet he insisted to speak. She revealed that the day her husband was admitted into University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu, there were six other patients in the intensive care unit of the hospital but that before Ojukwu left for European, he was the only survivor. Again on arrival at the intensive care unit of the European hospital ‘with fantastic facilities’ (she said), Ojukwu met seven patients in the place but by January 1, 2011, he was the only one surviving; the rest had passed on just as those he met at the UNTH Enugu. What a revelation? Is she reporting that Ojukwu must have used those to exchange for his life? Bianca is really a bad wife no wonder she took the appointment at a time her husband needed her earnestly by his sickbed side.

Now I have my respect for Turai Yar’Adua; a woman that stood by the bedside of her dying husband till his last breathe and while taking all the bashing remained steadfast. One thought that the like of Bianca should have borrowed a leave from Turai instead of rushing back home to collect a position as Special Adviser to President Jonathan who by the single action did not have regard for the dying Ojukwu. Throughout Bianca’s remark at the APGA podium, she never said that her husband advised her to pick the appointment because one knows that if Ojukwu was fit and with his senses he would shout both at Jonathan and Bianca.

Going back to the APGA convention where the APGA national Chairman urged their followers to vote for PDP President at the forthcoming elections; let them also ensure that they do not vote for any APGA candidate vying for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representative and Senate. APGA has sold its chances; they would have been better-off keeping quiet.[/b]
Politics / Soludo Enjoying His Loot! by awardeez: 2:15am On Feb 13, 2011
http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5388690-146/Chukwuma_Soludo_is_living_large_.csp

Three years ago the Central Bank governor, Chukwuma Soludo, installed his wife, Nonye, and their two children in a mansion bought for half a billion naira in the tony London suburb of Brondesbury Park.

One of their two children is enrolled at Ampleforth College, an elite parochial school known as “the Catholic Eton,” and where the Central Bank governor pays an annual fee of £25,000 for this privilege— roughly half his annual salary. The other child attends a similarly expensive public school— which in Britain actually means private school— so that in theory Mr. Soludo’s entire earnings of about N12 million a year hardly covers his children’s school fees.

Since he was appointed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to his current position five years ago, Mr. Soludo, who was a university lecturer before joining the Obasanjo administration, has demonstrated a taste for high living, travelling in convoys of as many as seven vehicles, impeccably and expensively dressed in bespoke suits and heirloom watches, and generally enjoying a lifestyle that cannot be afforded by anyone earning about N1 million a month.

The mansion occupied by his family in the exclusive London suburb is registered to Universal Energy Limited, an offshore company controlled by Emmanuel Ojei, the flamboyant tycoon with many business interests, including oil and gas.

It is not clear under what arrangement the Soludos live in this £2.1 million home; Mr. Soludo is not telling us. He has spent the past three weeks avoiding us and made promises to answer our questions that he has not kept, hoping that we will simply go away.

KnowAll:

Soludo is looking for future political relevance, after a disatrous term in d CBN. One must not lose sight of his above average beginnings in which he help in consolidating our banks but towards d end of his regime probably over- sight or sheer recklessness on his path let d rot dat is visible today to continue unabated without raising or seem to be raising alarm. Personally I think d issue of over-exposure by our banks to d capital Market was one problem Soludo was planning to resolve if he got a re-newal of his contract.

On d same note I would not exonerate him entirely from d delay in tackling the Infesting & dangrous armegeddon dat would have consumed d nation because he was an ardent proponent clamouring for every Nigerian both poor & rich to get on  that dire gravy train of buying shares, why he was still a chief & rather vociferous merchant of doom insisting on clueless & poor Nigerians going down this road to pardition  by buying a falling asset when it was glaringly clear this was doomsday scenerio for many beats my imagination.

Soludo is partially responsible for d kidnappings in d East his prophesy of untold wealth to many Igbo traders who made their money from d hard craft  of buying & selling suddenly jump on this bandwagon of making easy money in d stock Market after all d town cryer for this message of doom was one of theirs.

Couldn't agree more, wink

I thought so too, but re-reading Soludo's write up provided the answer.
Some of the so-called Sanusi tsunami is even part of Soludo's game plan, please read the write up again, I know it's long.

I actually did read through the entire article, didn't get any convincing reason He benefited immensely from the chaos then, so taking drastic actions like Sanusi did, would have been near impossible. It's one thing to "say" or plan "to do" it's another to "actually do"!

This is coming too late I'm sorry to say, If he knew this much grammar then, what stopped him from defending his tenure when questions were being asked?? He's found a scapegoat in Aganga, he would not dare Sanusi, who sits on all his atrocities and is equally very vocal!!    grin
Politics / Re: Soludo Says Aganga Is Either Ignorant Or Lying by awardeez: 2:20am On Jan 31, 2011
Soludo failed in the aspect of Banking supervision/examination, It was under his nose the Cecelia Ibrus, Erastus Akingbolas, Francis Atuches, etc of this world stashed away our deposit and began living ostentatious lifestyles. He cannot claim ignorance of their unethical activities neither can he claim he was not a beneficiary of the "free for all" looting that our bank CEOs engaged in? With billion on Naira loaned to individuals without collateral How can he account for the millions of dollars he lavishly expended during his gubernatorial campaign/elections?

I happen to be in a system where transparency is almost close to a 100%, and it is that same system that Aganga was raised professionally, Aganga is right, if it were in an advanced country like the UK where he spent the greatest part of his career, Soludo would probably be in jail by now!

I would love to ask a questions:
1. Why did it take Soludo this long to comment on the calamity he brought to the banking system with his poor post consolidation strategies? If he was really confident/sure of his accomplishment, I believe the best time to have commented was during the Sanusi Tsunami, that brought about he sacking of the CEOs and brought a lot of condemnation to his tenure! He waited till a time when the economy is in shambles to try to steal cheap points! He has no excuse for not defending himself as at when due!!

I am not an Aganga fan but I am not quick to forget the history, I refused to be deceived by Soludo's eloquence or writing prowess as evident in this letter.

Aganga has spent less than a year in office and has obviously been a victim of Jonathan's hunger for power which has brought about reckless spending/borrowing under funny disguises and hence the funny figures we see as reserves.

The autonomy of the CBN Governor as spelt out in the Nigerian constitution can not in anyway be compared to that of a Finance Minister. This is obvious from the way the National Assembly members are trying so hard to shed the powers of the CBN Governor(Sanusi) my amending the CBN Act 1991, Decree No. 24.

Aganga is simply a foot soldier to the Govt. as with all Ministers.

In conclusion, as much as I am not trying to justify Aganga's "under-performance" I am only pitching my tent with the old saying:
"People who live in glass houses should not throw stones"

In other words, Soludo would do/say exactly the same thing Aganga's is being accused of doing/saying if he were current Minister of Finance
You simply act on a script. Soludo isn't any better, in my opinion probably worse, the atrocities committed under his leadership of the Nigerian Banks is really alarming!

Politics / Pension Scam: Efcc Discovers N800m In Civil Servant's Account: :d by awardeez: 2:30am On Jan 26, 2011
A Deputy Director of Finance in the Federal Civil Service, Mrs. Piana Chidi, has been arrested in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as a result of an alleged N800m found in her bank account.

Another reason for her arrest was the alleged role she played in an organised syndicate that defrauds the Federal Government monthly through a ghost pension scheme.

It was gathered that Chidi was arrested last Saturday at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja at about 8pm, having gone into hiding as her other colleagues had been apprehended.

While she currently works in the Ministry of Transport, the scam for which she is being quizzed was allegedly perpetrated at the office of the Head of Service of the Federation, where she had served as a deputy director.

A breakdown of the cash in her bank account showed that she had N500m in local currency and $2m (N300m).

The suspect is one of the six persons who have been in the custody of the EFCC since Saturday and being quizzed for their alleged roles in a pension fraud rocking federal ministries.

Other suspects being detained are: Messrs Danjuma Bako-Wasa, Luke Eloanyi, M.A. Abdalla, Aliyu Bello and Grace Francis.

Investigation by the anti-graft body revealed that Bako-Wasa was bearing Haruna Megida, with which he operated a different bank account.

Under one year, Megida allegedly paid about N21m into one bank account, just as N8m was discovered in another bank account that also belonged to him.

Similarly, the commission has traced N12m to Francis’ account, while Eloanyi, who is a confidential secretary, allegedly has N13m in his account.

A total of 141,970 pensioners are said to be on the Federal Government’s payroll monthly; whereas less than 90,000 pensioners have been verified, while 34,000 are believed to be ghost pensioners.

An operative of the EFCC told our correspondent that in one instance, 554 ghost pensioners purportedly drew pensions from one account.

The source said, “On Saturday, a Deputy Director of Finance/Accounts, Mrs. Piana Chidi, who was in the office of the Head of Service, was arrested at Sheraton at 8pm.

“By the time we checked her account, we found N500m and $2m in one single account; and she is the sole signatory.

“Prior to her arrest, while our operatives were working on the pensions committee, it was discovered that 141,970 pensioners are on the payroll of the Federal Government; but less than 90,000 pensioners were verified, while 34,000 are ghost workers.”

I'll advice you to flee from all appearance of evil like the Bible rightly puts it.  You don't need any other post from God, He's posted enough to guide you through life in His words.
Don't even contemplate it! Cast that thought out!!

Try to think of yourself as the Biblical Joseph with Potipher's wife. The devil's never interested in someone without a glorious future.
Joseph rose from a slave to become Prime Minister of Egypt shocked.  Imagine how he would have ended if he laid with her. It's a pointer to the fact that
great things lie ahead of you. But there's always a test before every triumph.

It's not worth it my brother! Try to break ties with her, that's my candid advice!

A word they say is enough for the wise, wink
