Am in a depressed state and am so ashamed of myself. Currently schooling in a federal university studying computer sci. Seriously I feel really bad to have wasted 5 years without achieving nothing or a degree. Even spill over still wouldn't do no good cause I don't want a 3rd class degree or every worst. Can't take the risk again.[ insult is free i deserve it]

instead of graduating with a shitty degree am thinking of starting all over again from 100lvl to study computer science or anything related in a federal university. 4 years Max

Right now i feel like an abomination and a disgrace to my family. Have tried visiting the HOD's in my school unfortunately, I was informed students from the same school can't switch to same school [Different department] i dont know why i think it's best known to them.

Mind you am in my mid 20s with no achievement or any money making skills.

I have interest in mastering programming or becoming a tech savvy guy or a security expert but i can't. aside the coding aspect physiologically am not balance. Secondly, am limited.. Am very ambitious i need help and opportunities. Am tried of fighting alone/ holding back its eating me up silently... I only smile or engage myself in a social gathering to cover up my pain.

Even if am to start all over again I'll prefer a university that offer a 4 years course I don't know which Federal university one can study comp sci within 4 years.

Please I need advice and help The truth is school is frustrating and tiring.. I need a degree my battle can't be in vain.

I know someone would have pass through my line of sorrow or even worst. Your suggestions, opportunities and help will revive me back...

Regards,

Who toad you having a third class degree, you can't become what you want to become. Why are you having a wrong orientation. Going to spend another five years in school is a waste of time and resources. You can achieve a lot of skills even the programming you craze for without going to the university. Guy, think smartly.

Politics / Re: NGE Demands Revocation Of Suspension Order Of DAAR Licences by awelas252(m): 7:15am On Jun 07, 2019
vegafbs:
https://nextedition.com.ng/2019/06/06/nge-demands-revocation-of-suspension-order-of-daar-licences/
NBC should go further and prosecutes the management of Daar. These people violate broadcasting code with impunity. Yet some People will called themselves NGE to justify illegality.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has demanded immediate revocation of the suspension order of the licenses of DAAR Communication Plc, owners of AIT, Ray Power, and Faaji FM.

According to the Guild, the suspension order “runs contrary to the ideals of free speech and the fine tenets of press freedom.”

In a statement signed by its President, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, and General Secretary, Mrs. Mary Atolagbe, the Guild described the action of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) as a “case of Executive highhandedness,” adding “it paints our dear country in the darkest tar of dictatorship.”

The statement reads: “The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) hereby condemns in very strong terms the indefinite suspension of the licenses of the African Independent Television, AIT, Ray Power by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

“The Guild demands in clear terms the revocation of the suspension order as it runs contrary to the ideals of free speech and the fine tenets of press freedom. This is a case of Executive highhandedness and it paints our dear country in the darkest tar of dictatorship.

“The Fourth Estate of the Realm remains the watchdog of society and any attempt to gag it in any guise is an affront on democracy and the people. The NBC must and should rescind this ignoble and despicable decision.
“The Guild strongly believes the NBC action is a draconian form of regulation, being out of tune with democratic principles.
The Guild is concerned about the violation of the constitutional rights of DAAR Communications and the absence of media freedom, independence and the stifling of operations of media outfits which are performing their roles as the watchdog of the Nigerian society.

“The NGE condemns in strong terms the barbaric crackdown on the broadcast outfit and demands the immediate cessation of this atrocious repression and excessive show of power by the NBC, whose duty is to regulate and not kill the media.

“Muzzling the media and throwing thousands of Nigerians into the already saturated labor market should not be the trophy for good corporate governance of a regulator; it is something to be ashamed of and NBC should be ashamed at its action in a fledgling democracy in the 21st Century.

“The Guild is strongly of the opinion that the NBC, in exercising its regulatory powers, should concentrate on implementing policies that will position Nigeria’s broadcasting to compete in the global spheres, rather than engage in witch-hunting and unnecessary show of excessive force.
The Guild hereby expresses its solidarity with the AIT/Raypower family, urging the staff and management to remain calm as the Guild liaises with and other media professionals as well as well meaning Nigerians to get justice.

“The NGE appeals to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, to use his good offices to call NBC to order.

“It is to be recalled that NBC had, before the 2019 general election, shut down Joy FM in Jos for violations of the broadcasting code. Last year, the NBC shut down Ekiti Radio/TV station. Shutting down stations and withdrawing licences are too extreme in the circumstance. There must be humane and saner ways to resolve disputes bordering on violation of the Broadcasting Code.”

Bizlifelines201:

People should look at the reasons given by NBC before they revoke the licence of Daar Communication. Daar communication clearly breach the broadcasting code with reckless abandon and so should be sanction period.

I honestly just don't get It, are these letters of caution not issued to DAAR? Is it not true that the NBC followed up with a meeting to draw the attention of the management of DAAR to the infractions? Should NBC just sit down as lameduck and not move against DAAR in the face of DAAR's alleged sustained intransigence and irresponsible professional conduct ?
Where were these BON and NGE in the face of the caution prior to the suspension? How come their own media houses don't do the nonsense DAAR is being alleged of and how does closing down of an irresponsible media organisation amount to gagging of the media?
If the DAAR management have not been encouraging their members of staff to behave recklessly, the
DAAR should be bold enough to fire their personnel messing up their relationship with the regulator.
I think NBC should go beyond sanctioning the corporate organisation and prosecute those members of staff of DAAR and/or report these individuals each to their professional group for investigation and discipline. I still don't know where a board led by High Chief Dokpesi who is on corruption trial for embezzling funds budgeted for prosecution of war against book harem, derived it's moral authority to be referred as member of the fourth estate of realm. I really commend NBC, they're more matured and gave enough ropes to DAAR unlike the case of SEC against OandO that didn't even release the report of infractions to OandO to defend itself before wielding the stick.
I urge the NBC not to be intimidated, they must fine DAAR, insist on a new editorial board for AIT and Raypower and ensure that it gets professional sanctions against the individual recalcitrant journalists posting hate speech etc to ensure that the innocent ones are not punished.
We can't afford to allow a few irresponsible unpatriotic citizens throw us into another needless war or another Rwanda tragedy. The task of nation building is serious business.
NBC should remain resolute like NCC did with MTN.

A 41-year old woman whose name was Mary Kulele from Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa state was caught at a hospital in Akwanga where she quietly went into the hospital pretending to be a nice woman by rendering selfless services to pregnant women.

She confessed to taking the baby from the hospital ward when the mother took her clothes to somewhere in the hospital compound to wash. She was caught after a nurse raised an alarm over her suspicious presence in the hospital.

Although the baby was recovered in good condition, the angry youths in the area took laws into their hands and lynched her.

Despite her lengthy narration of her sympathetic life and marital experience, her plea for mercy and forgiveness fell
on deaf ears as the youths smoked life out of her. She wailed and pleaded that her life be spared. She promised never to do it again but nobody came to her aid.

This woman will go to heaven, and all those that took her life shall surfer torment here on earth before they finally roast in he'll fire. Danjuma, other Christian elders reject Onnoghen’s suspension, ACF backs Buhari
Published

January 31, 2019
Olalekan Adetayo, Chukwudi Akasike, Friday Olokor, Adelani Adepegba, Oluwatosin Omojuyigbe, Godwin Isenyo and Sampson Itode

The National Christian Elders Forum on Wednesday protested against the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as an Islamic agenda.

The organisation called on Nigerians to mobilise themselves to resist the Islamists in the country.

The NCEF said the President’s decision to suspend Onnoghen was a “judicial coup.”

What was surprising, it said, remained the apparent unwillingness of Christians and other Nigerians to understand the core problem of the country.

Members of the group include Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), Solomon Asemota (SAN), Prof. Joseph Otubu, Gen. Joshua Dogonyaro (retd.), Dr Kate Okpareke, Dr Ayo Abifarin, Gen. Zamani Lekwot (retd.), Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Nat Okoro and Elder Matthew Owojaiye.

Others are Justice Kalajine Anigbogu (retd.), Elder Shyngle Wigwe, a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, L. Dabup, Sir John W. Bagu, Dr Saleh Hussaini, Elder Mike Orobator, Justice James Ogebe, JSC (retd.), Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chief Debo Omotosho, Dame Priscilla Kuye, Dr S. D. Gani, Mrs Osaretin Demuren and Prof. Yussuf Turaki.

The NCEF’s statement, which was signed by its chairman, Asemota, was titled, “CJN Onnoghen: What is really at stake and the way out.”

The group said, “In 2015, Nigerians unwittingly elected an Islamist government into office, supposedly on a platform of democracy. It is with this as background that the questionable suspension of the CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, should be situated. The ‘judicial coup’ is not only against the judiciary, but also the constitution that is under attack and with it, the sovereignty of the Nigerian state as a democratic nation.”

The Christian elders also restated their commitment to prayerfully support Christian presidential candidates and indeed any candidates who would be committed and loyal to the tenets of liberal democracy, human rights and equality under the law.

Asemota said the Islamists that belonged to the Salafist sect believed that modern society should run according to the 6th century pattern of Islam.

“Islamism is not a religion but a political ideology which holds that wherever Islam is, Islam must dominate,” he said.

He added, “That is one reason why Islamism is called “political Islam. However, while all Islamists are Muslims, all Muslims are not Islamists. The National Christian Elders Forum is calling on Nigerians to mobilise to resist the Islamists in Nigeria and ensure that they do not return to power again so that Nigerians can concentrate on building a just and equitable society.”

According to them, infrastructure that is sustaining Islamism in Nigeria must be dismantled and democracy must be promoted.

Politics / Re: Ijaw Youths Disown Embattled CJN, Say South-south People Are Not Corrupt by awelas252(m): 12:11pm On Jan 27, 2019
Agritech:
Youths from Ijaw speaking part of the country have described the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen, as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, by President Muhammadu Buhari, as apt, timely and welcome development.
Justice Onnoghen

The youth group, while declaring a persona non grata on the embattled CJN, said people from south-south region were not thieves.
The United Niger Delta Youth Council, which said that Justice Onnoghen is a shame to the Niger Delta region, wondered he failed to exhibit a high level of decency in his conduct as the number one Judicial Officer in the country.

Jackson Bob- Manuel, President of the youth group at a press conference on Saturday, called on the embattled jury to face the law and stop looking for sympathy.
He said, “We are of the opinion that Justice Walter Onnoghen having risen to the exa
lted position of Chief Justice of Nigeria should have exhibited a high level of decency in his conduct as the number one Judicial Officer in the country.

“It is, therefore, inexcusable for a man of such high standing to feign ignorance to the law as regards the declaration of assets in the country under the Code of Conduct Act. And if that is the case, then such a person is not fit to hold the exalted position of Chief Justice of Nigeria.

“We also wish to use this medium to state that corruption as a social vice knows no tribe, race or religion. It is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of the Nigerian society over the years, and so, therefore, those that using the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen to wipe up ethnic and religious sentiments should desist from such acts as they cannot cry more than the bereaved.

“Justice Walter Onnoghen a Niger Delta son that is supposed to serve as a role model to us has indeed failed woefully and brought shame and disgrace to the people of the Niger Delta region.

“When they steal government funds and buy choice properties for themselves and their families, they are Mr. A or Mr. B., but when they are caught, they become Niger Deltans who are suffering political persecution.

“The United Niger Delta Youth Council says enough is enough of this treachery by political allies from the Niger Delta region. They must be held responsible for their actions and inactions as regards their conduct in office. And the case of Justice Walter Onnoghen should not be politicized to look like ethnic persecution.

“The fact remains that he failed to declare some of his assets as stipulated by the law and so, therefore, he has committed an offense which requires that he faces the full wrath of the law. And as the number one law officer in the country, he should know better.

“The United Niger Delta Youth Council frowns at the insinuations coming from certain quarters that the government persecutes justice Walter Onnoghen. While this is far from the truth, it is merely an attempt to cover up for a crime that was committed and deceive the public.
“The United Niger Delta Youth Council, therefore, calls on all Niger Delta Sons and Daughters in Nigeria and the Diaspora to disown Justice Walter Onnoghen how has brought nothing but shame to us as a people.

“When he filled his accounts with dollars and pounds, he wasn’t a Niger Deltan. When he refused to provide educational assistance to scores of needy people, he wasn’t a Niger Deltan. When he bragged like he was a mini-god, he wasn’t a Niger Deltan.

“But now that his atrocities have come out to the open, he is now a Niger Deltan. We the United Niger Delta Youths Council rejects such hypocrisy and would never be a part of such all on the name of ethnicity and religion.”

An ICT lwyer and social media influencer, has narrated what happened after he wore a bathroom slippers to Ikeja City mall in Lagos on Saturday, December 29th.

According to Martin Beck Nworah, he was left shocked after being insulted by a friend to the lady who hosted him at the mall over his unappealing appearance..

Later in the day, the lady who insulted him - reached out and apologized to him after her friend told her who he was.

Read what he shared below on Facebook.

Yesterday evening, I honoured my friend's request to take me to the cinema. I got to ICM (Ikeja City Mall) before her so I had to wait. About 20 minutes later, she arrived with a female friend of hers. She tried introducing us to each other. "Errmmm...babe, this is Martin Beck Nworah. Beck...this is..."

Her friend couldn't wait for her to finish before she cut in; "Which village did you pick this guy from? Babe you're bigger than this na. How can you be hanging out with a guy who comes to a Mall wearing bathroom slippers."

I was shocked. My friend was shocked. We never expected that. I tried smiling but my cheeks were shaking. LOL. My friend gave her a sharp look and finished the introduction. I was already thinking about my life sef and the insult.

My friend went into Silverbird and the movie we wanted to see was sold out. The next option required an additional 1k to get 3 tickets. She didn't have extra cash and her friend didn't have.

Without asking if I had, she told her friend she had to go back to the house or wait outside. "Babe, you need go back or you can stay outside and wait for us."

Her friend couldn't understand why she would stand her down for a guy wearing bathroom slippers. "Babe, I told you to stay in the house but you insisted on coming out. You will shaa wait outside or you go home." She grumbled, muttered incoherent stuff and told my friend to see her off. I smiled ehhh.

When my friend returned, she snapped this picture. "But Beck, why would you wear a bathroom slippers and come out to ICM of all places? Son of Nebu, what is your wahala?" I laughed real hard. "I'm not regular..."She held my lips. "Nonsense boy."

Her friend later called me in the night with my friend's phone to apologise. She said my friend later explained to her who I was and everything. She was sorry for reacting the way she did.

That girl is stupid and uncultured. It's wrong to write someone off because of what he wore.
