LMAO!

Now that I’ve exposed you as a cunning and deluded pathologic liar that you are, you’ve suddenly resorted to bitter rants, insults, and more lies.

Very typical of delusional Bini e-rats like yourself. grin

Anyway, your resort to your hot tears, as well as your vow to never come back is a crystal clear evidence of your realization that you’ve been exposed before all & sundry, and that your time is up.

And your further lies have already been debunked on this very thread, namely:

(1) How some recent audio-claims of Edo rulership of some Yorùbá towns in the Ondo, the Ekiti, & the Lagos areas have been debunked as uncorroborated and/or as late revisions.

(2) How the claim of Benin being an “empire” is shown to be an audio-claim that is not corroborated by any firsthand eyewitness report. None!

The only “empire” in the southern-Nigeria region (per firsthand eyewitness report) is Ọyọ.
And the indigenous Bini people have been conquered and subjugated by Ifẹ since the Ogiso era (from circa: 1000 CE) through the Ọba era (from circa: 1200 CE) till the present time, and forever by God’s grace, Amen!

Cheers.

TAO11:

One who must educate a dullard must learn patience. I’d be patient with you. smiley

So, different old maps feature different names — and some of the old maps don’t even feature Benin at all.

Having said that, my point earlier was that the phrase Bight of Benin was chosen simply on the basis of who and who are the namers acquainted with.

And I cited the instance of the phrase “Guinea Forest” as same namers applied it to the vast stretch of the W/African forst region — including your Benin.

Doesn’t mean Guinea had some supremacy, nor does it mean that they owned Benin kingdom and beyond.

————
Back to the matter here, any name may appear in an old map as the cartographer deems it relevant for the specific purpose of creating the map.

The 1st attachment below shows an old map on which the name Benin appears. My highlight on same map also features Yorubaland with one of its old names — that is, Regna Olukumi or Yoruba kingdoms.

The second attachment below is an old map on which the name Benin is completely absent. However, same old map features Ọyọ with its old name Katunga. Same map also features Igbo with the spelling Eboe. No Benin on the map.

The 3rd attachment below is an old map on which th name Benin is completely absent. However, same old map feature the Kingdom of the Ọọni, viz. Regnum Ọɣọni in the older/archaic form.

NB: The sound ɣ is a voiced velar fricative, i.e., sound “gh”.

No where does any Ọba Lagos Eko mention that Aṣipa has a Bini parent, or that Ado (Aṣipa's son) has a Bini father.

Cheers.

I have seen many mumu Yoruba people arguing here over the years but yours takes the biscuit.
You know neither the anthropology nor philology of the two people. Let alone knowing how the Niger-Congo groups of people relate to each other. Only such confidence in ignorance can cause such assertion.

You sit somewhere saying these two tribes are closest. Nope. Those of us with dual heritage know our history. In my case to well over 800 years.

The Yoruba who come here on Nairaland to claim nonsense are mostly Hausa and Tiv immigrants and others of unknown origin into Yorubaaland. Even those who claim royalty are from the many new white cap chiefs elevated.

Stop attaching to Benin. Midwest left Western Region contraption in 1963 because British imposed nonsense was getting into the head of Western Region leaders.

You Awori Lagosian should know how Benin subdued you guys to create Lagos monarchy.

Honestly this your reply stems from the deep seated reservations/position you have about the Benin-Yoruba relationship.
Did My reply ever insinuate that Benin is in the Yoruba confederation?
Fine Benin are not in any way close to Yorubas, I think that much is clear. They are on their own after-all. Are you pleased enough now?

And Yes, thank God, yur era of subduing and dominating the natives of Lagos is long gone and never to return!! You guys were e very destructive empire and anti progressive force in Southern Nigeria for ages. That is why in the whole edo state today, outside of Benin, no town even exceeds 200,000 in population. Which only buttresses my point that Beninin was a nation state that wouldn't let anything around it thrive. Benin people of those days would bring their plundering attitude all the way to Idanre, Akure, Owo, Epe just to decimate Yoruboid tribes.

This is the difference between a Benin and a Yoruba.
A Yoruba person's loyalty is to their entire ethnic group as a whole, which has more than 40 peopled clans within it.
A Benin person's loyalty is to Benin kingdom regardless of which peoples lands they claim.

Benin is a nation state, Yoruba is a Nation of States.

Within Yoruba, 'Benin' is just like say; Egbas for example.

Pls, this Ode-Usen / Ufe kekere that the Okitipupas claim they came from sounds cunningly similar to Usen town in Edo state. Funny enough, their Oba there is called Elawure. It is in Edo after Okada town or after Ifon/Okeluse.

Is it the same one?

I think in a way due to the sheer size of Lagos, It is already the city with the largest concentration of Igbos on the globe, and we are still in 2018, so no need to wait till 2030. But calling it the largest "Igbo city" is something COMPLETELY different... Wrong use of words. Why you ask? Well it isn't an Igbo city. Simple.

That being said, this is nothing special actually as lagos is already the terrain containing largest numbers of members of various ethnic groups across Nigeria and not just Igbos. Besides, Igbos are not really known for historically having very large cities so they move a lot to large cities across the country to better their lives in a way that can't be achieved in villages and peri-urban communities that litter igboland. The biggest city in all of Igboland proper is probably only slightly larger than Akure.

proxillin:
5th Position: Fon people

They are the largest ethnic group in Benin Republic. They are also found in South West Nigeria. They are hybrid of other African tribes. Oral history has it that they were formed from intermarriage of Aijaa and Yorubas creating a new ethnic group called Fon. The Fon people created a very popular kingdom called Dahomey as they are well known for their female warriors. In fact Black Panthers movies was inspired by Dahomey Female warriors (Amazonian Warriors). They were victims and victimized during the slave trade. They are the most popular in Trinidad and T, Haiti. Due to their Yoruba ancestry, they are renowned for their black Juju practise in America. There black magic origin is traced to the Yorubas. Voodoo was significant during their war of freedom from slavery.

Yu no serious... so it is because of their Yoruba ancestry that Fons are renowned for "Black Juju"?

Haha typical Igbos, it is only when they are in a favorable position that they will remember how Nigeria is sweet and how “Tribalism is bad”

Every other day, 98% of them are really half biafrans at heart with no real patriotic allegience to the Nigerian state nor what it stands for.
This was the same scenario that was playing out under the Jonathan presidency that favored Igbos when all of them kept MUTE but have all suddenly become overnight Biafrans under a northern presidency.

These are also the same people currently championing the course of a group called “ NON YORUBA Indigenes of the South-WEST” an organization whose ultimate goal is to challenge the indiginous rights of Yoruba people in their own ancestral region. Yet they come here to preach peace after holding all their “abele” anti yoruba meetings.
Hypocrites!

Laughing in higher powers .. I pity the generality of Yoruba people.
