This is absolute bullshit, full or political propaganda. efcc is busy running after business who are trading genuinely, but owe money to the bank when their main priorities should be the political office holders. they have basically been reduced to bailiffs and recovery agents when they are supposed to channel their priorities to more important issues. absolute nonsense. |
well its 30mins to close of business so letswait and see, but i wont be suprised if they come and say he has paid. |
neither am i holding a debate with, and have no problem with anyones opinion but if you are making a comment then it should be a right comment, and not trying to justify what is not right on here. period. and i was also referring to a comment made by youngmonnie |
there is no way anythign will happen in the financial market be it anywhere in the world that it wont affect the fiancial stand of that country, so what is happening is no difference from what is happening or has happened anywere else in the worls, as long as sanusi move is not politically motivated then i believe what steps he has taken is the right steps which should have been taken long time ago by soludo. |
I am suprised at some nairlanders coming on her and just opening their mouth anyhow and spill out losta of baldadash. 5ceos were sacked in one day and someone is saying it isnt right? if these people havent been sacked they will still occupying their post by now continuing with their unhealthy practice. unlike in the uk when the bank crises happened, those affected resigned immediately it happened, and one of them which is in charge of HBos popularlly know ans frwed the shred was forced to surrender some of his entitlements. yes all business needs loans to survive as long as the loans are issued out in accordancwe with the banking rules and regulations then no one has any problem with that. also u are saying that there is no employment when these people bring down a bank to its knees those currently working there will loose their jobs and those looking to work there will no longer be able. so pls lets all put aside the sentiments and talk like educationals, and professionals and concerned citizens and individuals that we are. , this is directed to mikeansy |
ifeleke i personally think the fiancial services authority in NIgeria should confirm that these banks have actualled recovered what they say they have recovered, because if they truly have, why did they have to wait for all these to happen before acting and following simple rules or loand and repayments and recovery ? |
@mannygee well said there they have truly contributed to the beter ment of nigeria either by providing employment one way or the other, but what Nigerians are angry about is that ow can an individual borrow such amount ? without adequate collateral because if the said loans were taken with adequate collateral which aounted up to what they were borrowing then the cbn or the banks shouldnt have any problems in recovering backs this loans, but the issue is that this money cant be recovered back because due and basic banking rules wasnt followed which now makes it difficult for these individuals to pay back the loan, and also in the case of jimoh ibrahim paying back this loan in one day i personally and as a professioanl financial adviser who works in the uk and have at least workd with 1 or 2 premiership footballers, i know it isnt possible for someone to dip his hands in his pocket or company accounts and pay 8billion inn one day. because paying it in one day will have adverse effect on whereever he got the money from. cbn and efcc should br reasonable and be realistic and let these guys come forward and negotiate payments plans which will be supervised and approved by both bodies and the courts. to pay back these loans withing a period of time thats the way it is being done in other european countries and usa as well. and if the government is bailing out a bank then automatically the tax payers become shareholders in the banks as well as in the case of uk where banks like lloyds tsb were bailed out by the government with take payers money. |
@ifeleke thats true but if the cbn jas food motives for doing this then thats fine but what efcc should dont is to start giving them ultimatum to pay back in 1week, it leads to unnecesaary panic and will affect other things as weel. all they should do is give them ultimatum to come to a reasonable agreement with the debtors so that they can pay monthly installments to pay back. |
@ifeleke, if they are going to other banks which are healty to get the loans paid off then they are just making it worse and this banks who will give them this loans are making exposing themselves to higher and serious risk, because lets all be realistic here theey cant just pay these monies all at once. its just not possible. for a company or organisation to pay be it 5billion or8billlion in one day or in one week. |
@ibime, whot told you debt recovery agencies dont work that fast as ur location says u reside un uk then you will know that there are laws which has to be abided by dras, and they can be fined if they break the law. thats is the reason why i am saying if this is true that he is paying that money in 1day then were is he getting the money from ? dra dont act that fast because they have to take lots of factors into consideration, eg, the amount, time length, duration and also they must have exhausted all negotiation on repayment before taking legal action. |
this is absolute rubbish this is 8billion we are talking about even international companies dont just pay that much in one day it takes time for such a money to be paid. according to this it was agreed over thee weekend to pif but its not even possible even international banks need advance notice to get the funds ready. either he is getting the money from another bank that has been cleared or its just all talks. because if he had the money why should they wait until cbn published the list ? |
congrats if na marketing, i have 10million naira to give you on the condition that after 6months i will get a loan of 50billion and use my mothers room and parlour as collateral. lol just jokes, congrats all the same. |
why are we nigeriansalways blinded by the fact that someone sumwere did sumtin good, and so what if soludo did good or the bank ceos brought the banks from zero to somethings. does that give them the right to bring it back down ? soludo is an econimist or whatever he is, then he shud know the simple rules of economics and banking process, the bottomline is all these loans were given out knowing fully well the implications if they didnt pay back, and all the bank ceos benefitted from the loans schemes, because ow can someone get a loan of 150million or billion who the Bleep is he becos he is one senator or his great gran mother dided in the moon and ksa played for her on the sea ? so Bleep wot ? basic banking rules and procedures wasnt followed, so therefore they should face the music squarely and under international banking standards they should be strupped off any positions they own and shud be banned from holding any managment position again, and shud be made to pay back the loan by either forfeitting their assests or make the defaulters pay back by cashing in the collateral they dropped but this is nigeria and am sure not even all of the debtors dropped collateral up to half of what they owe. this si just nonsens, period, this si just to make nigerians focus on sumthing else jst like noone is talking about halluburton again |
All this is now trning politically motivated, why should the EFCC be involved in an issue that concerns banks and financial institutions. this is a country that should have a financial regulatory body, and financial services authority who should be the one investigating this case and not until when all facts and evidence has been put in place before the efcc can now be moved in to start proceedings against them for corruption, embezzlement, and conspiracy to defraud,e.t.c. against them. |
This is just the height of corruption because as public office holder someone like soludo should not be involved in private business and also getting paid from it, because at the end of the day it all boils down to conflict of interest and with him being the cbn governor then his influence is very much likely to make any bank bow down to his request. and a further look at it will also see that most of the sacked bank CEos are also on the list as directors which is professionally and ethically wrong. look at the case on the uk banking sector and scandals about expenses probe recently many of the affected people didnt have to wait to be sacked they resigned their position, and you wont hear of any issue of conflict of interest. in the banks in the uk even to work as an admin staff you have to pass a credit check just to make sure you dont have any debts because if you do, working in a bank might put customers money at risk or you might be invlolved in fraudlent activities to service your debts. so basically all that happened inn the nigerian banking secoter today is not just a matter of mismanagemnt its also a matter of not following rules and regulations governing the banking industry and also coupled with the fact that those involved had personal interest in other business ventures which made it easy to get loans without proper collateral or documentation. in the uk they have various banking regulatory bodies. OFT, FSA, Trading standard. all these bodies are responsible for checks and balances in the banking industry. I laughed when i read about the Efcc asking these people to pay back the money in 1week, it is just not possible and all the shout is just propanganda so that nigerians can see that they arwe doing sumting which we know it will be forgotten soon, just as nothing is being heard of Halliburton again. after plenty shout and media advertisement. recovering the loans will take time, it might not even be possible to recover all, because these guys involved are the big shots, who can manipulate the law, as well as influence decisions of the court coupled with a very corrupt and useless AGF. so my fellow nigerians all we can do is sit, wait and watch and let the drama unfolds and see what will happen from here. were is soludo himself ? were is dangote ? were are the beneficiaries of this loan. proper check will reveal that they are either, having lunch in aso rock, or chilling in the uk just as erastus akingbola of intercontinental bank is doing. give it a few months and nothing will be heard of this issue again. God bless nigeria. |
some peole just come on here and chat rubbish u love ur mother so much and so fuking what ? did they choose for you mum when she wanted to marry ? for petes sake this is 2009 not 1932. parents are just there to advice and its left for both parties to know what they want since its them going to be in the marriage and not the parents. also the girl isnt woman enough, agreed there is stress from ur people, but if she truly loves you and know what she wants then together u can make them see reason and get married. because getting married to an ibo lady especially if the guy is yoruba is never easy and you dont expect your parents to say yes or the girls parents to say yes. because of various factors surrounding. it takes time for both families to accept the fact of theire daughter or son marrying into another tribe. i know of inter tribal marriages, yoruba and igbo that took almost 4years for them to get married. and today they are married. tooke the girls parents 1year to agree and the guys parents 1 year and they dated for 2years. so what am saying is marrying from igbo tribe is never easy. but becuase the family dont accept the girl is not enough reason for the girl to walk away, because if yu guys truly love one another then together u will make them accept her and her make her people accept you. |
safariman every big loan in nigeria banks is fraudlently issued becos even the loan officers that approve the loans also according to a source, take a percentage from the borrower. dont knw if this is true or not. each bank should have its own recovery department, and also should have external agencies who should be able to recover the loans on their behalf. all banks in developed countries be it uk, america. all have recovery departments, external companies who recover debts on the behalf . |
@ ayotee when u mean big bucks, ow much are u talking here becos to get a loan no matter ow small it is depending on thee proof you submit. sometimes to get a loan as low as £500 u need a guarantor or collateral before u can get it. so what am saying in essence is that a collateral can be requested for any amount as no amount is too small to be secured. |
This is all bullshit, what is the president business in ordering police to help recover loans ? its just political propaganda and bullshit. in developed countries thats why they have debt collection agencies and bailiffs who are responsible for recovering bad loans for banks and financial instituition. police are they to protect lives which is what they should be doing and not chasing loan defaulters, or debtors. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH, BULLOCKS, BOLLONEYS, This is the job of the banks, as well as the cbn and not the fucking weak, lame man who calls himself president. |
hahahahah. this is one of the most funniest tread i have read oooo. wonders shall never end. every person wey contribute for this tread deserve oscars. including naijaking1. lol |
there is one at alausa and its its like 12500naira per night ooo, but u can check their website. its called make it in nigeria. or u can just type in adia chalet on ur google browser. |
@grandstar can u get me a very good 3bedroom flat in ogba area. very good environment, tiled floors, gated, running water, spacious as well. and not toocrowded compound ooo. basically i want to just pay and pack in but my budget is 600k for the 2years . |
my first job in the uk was on a commission based basis and after 1 whole month of working during winter period basically knocking on peoples door trying to sell various charities to the, got paid £9.36p cash in hand in a small brown envelope. will never forget , worked in a facotry and later security guard. finally after 2years in the uk was wroking as well as doing my A, levels as well. worked for a financial solutions company, and finally working as an accounts manager in a bank now. but also still skooling as well. i definately intend to return to naija as soon as i am done, with my skooling. |
also to add if while u decide to come back to uk and one of the company u have applied to calls u up to show face and u r in uk already nko. what will u do den ? jst a thought that crossed my mind. |
@poster what i normally advice is that u try and find people u kow that are in high positions or top management positions in naija that can be of help and apart from that its always best to get a job from uk before going. in a few months time approximately by this time next year i will be same as u as i intend on going bk to naija after my studies here in uk and i have already started callling those i know that are in top positions in some banks in naija and hoprefully wen time reach it wont be difficult for me. i have been working in uk right from my college days and in the last 3yrs i have been fortunate to have worked in a financial solutions coy and currently working in a bank as well as schooling as well. so i believe all these wth my pali will help me well. but we never hope i hope it works well for me sha. even if u come back to uk, job hard to find my broda. its not as easy wth redundancies everywhere and even the oyibos sef no get work. so i just advice keep enduring even thous its not easy because evryday u spend money and nothing is coming in. think well sha. |
@rrexport. when i have my cash hot and ready will let you know so u can get me a very good ride. nice cars at very good rates u have dere. keep it up. clean cars as well. |
There is nothing bad if theu charge money nigerians are willing to pay as long as they get value for what they are paying for. imagine money taken from your account as someone mentioned earlier fradulently and the money isnt refunded. nonsense. as long as nigerians are receiving value for their money den no wahala ut they are not thats why dey are complaining. imagine going to a bank and making a deposit into ur account and decided to make a withdrawal same time and you are told systems are down and you cant withdraw. thats rubbish. |
just to correct you , all banks in nigeria charge for debit card, magnetic or not magnetic, they charge for using cash machines, for sending you text alert which is known as telephone banking, printing statement, and i am sure they charge a monthly fee for managing acct and i tink its about 100 naira or so. infact in naija they charge you for anything and everything. i wont be suprised if they start chargin you for steeping foot inside the banking hall. |
@kpokpof why are u defending them are u a staff there ? these card shud be given to cst free of charge after all they charge them a monthly feee for managing their account and i think paying for a card which is one of the services they should provide free of charge is just absolute day light robbery but i understand an industry where there is no laid down rules and proceudre to follow is just absolut nuts. in the uk and customers dont pay for debit card or cash card if u like loose the card 50times u still get a replacement free of charge they make their money via monthly account charges . so the card should be free. |
@ poster Its very difficult because you dont see each other all the time, but notwithstanding it takes committment, trust, understanding, and trust from one another. its a very difficult situation thou but it always works as long as u remove every doubt of unfaithfulness from it, i am currently in one at the min and i am in uk she is in naija and we are engaged, but i have had to go to naija 3times this year already as i am studying in uk at min but will be done soon, so she understands and we communicate all the time via phone calls, chatting. very stressful but if u love one another then there is nothing you both cant withstand. |
