Reasoning with some Nigerian's is just IMPOSSIBLE.
I don't wish any Nigerian Bad... however some folks just have a level of STUPIDITY only rivaled by a Moth heading for fire.

When GEJ tried buying same equipment Shallow Minded Bigots said He wanted to wage war against the North... and other loads or Rubbish...

Now PMB makes a move towards buying same equipment Shallow Minded Bigots say he is trying to wage war against the South and whatnot.

Truth is we have too many BIGOTS around us. Fallacious and deeply flawed arguments rage around.

What must a president do to satisfy YOU ALL?

Perhaps he should not buy any weapons and wait till IS mobilizes in Africa and over runs our country while they lick the BONES and BLOOD of your children!!! I don't mean to sound dramatic... But a nation must come together and stand for what is right and not pull its self down with senseless Bigotry and Drama.

I am Nigerian and I rep The North and South, and everywhere Nigerian.

Anybody who wants to go into any form of rebellion or violence should hitch a ride to Saudi Arabia or Iran... and Please Restrict your Violence there. When the so called Biafrans shout for freedom I honestly without bias or derrogation don't know what they are talking about. FREEDOM? FROM WHAT? FROM WHO? I'm currently serving in Ebonyi state and I must say, I DON'T SEE ANY OPPRESSED IGBO THERE. I hail from Kogi State, I certainly don't see any oppressed Igbo there, I grew up in Ogun state and I didn't see any oppressed Igbo there, was in Abuja for 6 years and not once did I see an oppressed Igbo there. Now I didn't say the entire country because I can only categorically speak of those states I've been to and observed.

Any person care to enlighten me? Maybe I'm getting it wrong somewhere.

PoliticsRe: #Nnamdikanu Trending In Nigeria After 'arrest' - BBC by ayd91(m): 11:06pm On Oct 20, 2015
Lincolnburrows:
I like your approach to your disagreement. But I still disagree.
First, Nigeria as a country in design had some flaws some of which have been corrected. We've made some progress so far. if the flaws have been corrected, why do people still agitate for freedom? Why did the southerners flee from the northern region during the last election? There was a threat of ethnic cleansing if PMB lost. (2011 comes to mind).

Second, We've made some progress so far. oh yes! But very slow progress compared with the huge resources at our disposal. Or simply put we have progressed backwards. What is the poverty rate again? What about the diversification of economy that has always been discussed since 1983. Are you okay with the income distribution in your country? Why do northerners still kill southerners/Christians over issues that happened in Denmark? Etc etc etc. Ghana doesn't have up to 1/20 of the resources available to us but your countrymen troop to their country in masses for higher education.

Third, . The question of breaking up should be left to the next two generations who I believe would be in a better position to decide the fate of Nigeria. . Again why should we leave this for our future generation to still tackle? We should leave them with solid foundation to become a reference point in Africa in terms of innovation and development. Not crisis of unity

Fourth, To say people are unwilling to die for Nigeria is right and wrong hey bro you need to wake up right now. I know most soldiers I discussed with who wanted to quit the nigerian army cos they were sent to Bornu. They simply remained because it's simply not allowed in the military. Most of them got into the military because of unemployment and not passion for the country. And they remain there because there's no way out. I also took you serious until you said that civilians are willing to die for Nigeria. Even armed policemen who are equally civilians go into hiding when they hear of robbery attack.

Conclusively, a nation divided cannot stand. We do not have the same value systems. While it's acceptable to marry a 10 year old girl in sokoto, it is a taboo in delta state. While it's okay to gulp one can of origin in phc, you can lose your hand for that in zamfara. Unity and love is highly needed before a country can make significant progress. The fact there is a federal character is a testament to the fact that we are struggling to be one.
Cool points you've raised.
You focused on the weakness of my argument, I wonder, do we see eye to eye on the need for mental resurgence amongst Nigerians?

To be sincere I find it strange when I read about Nigerians demanding for 'freedom". I ask freedom for what? Can we be particular? Is it of speech? Or movement? Of worship? Of what? We make it seem like people are being hindered inmost parts of Nigeria. Which we both know is far from the case.

One area Nigerians may call for freedom is Northernmost North of Nigeria. Where religion goes unchecked. I believe Sariah should NEVER have been conceived in any part of Nigeria, Being that it is a breech of our collective freedom. But even at that Nigerians from all ethnic groups can go about their business without fear of harassment in Nigeria. One just has to be sensitive to the culture of his/her host community.

I feel angry at the way some Northerners seem to take to violence like it's their own reserve. We need a system of accountability, of control, and justice. This can all be put in place to ensure peace reigns.

One area of emphasis is Nigeria is a big place with lots of people. Of all the States in Nigeria how many states have Igbos or any other ethnic group suffered mass casualties? Aside from Jos, Kano and Kaduna there hasn't been any state with any conflict coming close.
There are 34 other states (the conflict in the North East is excluded from consideration in that it is an insurgency and not an ethnic war).
Bauchi, Tarraba, Sokoto, Benue, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi states are examples of Northern Nigeria states where Igbos and other ethnic groups thrive in peace. So why deem the country unsafe?

The slow speed of our development has little to do with our structure as a country. From the local, state, and the federal level people engage in milking the nation at every opportunity they get. Our problem is the crop of elites currently running the country.
I say this regularly, if Governors managed to get it right, our country would develop in no time. Like him or not, see how Fashola developed Lagos... Imagine if we had 20 serious Governors across Nigeria, how fast do you think we'd develop?

The problems the Igbos face is not peculiar to them alone, instead of drawing up a framework for a remedy what we constantly hear is ABANDON SHIP. What pains me is how secession is paraded as a solution to our problems and to be sincere it can't work.
Nigeria is a polygeneous marriage with multiple wives. The wives fight from time to time (violence) , they're selfish (corruption), their kids are poor (poverty), they have different beliefs, their husband is the only reason they are together and all these problems are getting him weaker and weaker.

A breakup only solves one thing, that is the fighting. Nothing else. And that's not guaranteed because trading takes you places northern Nigeria is one of them, if you can't be safe in your country, you certainly wouldn't be while under a new country.

We can't shy away from facing our demons lest they get stronger and destroy us.

It is time Igbos organize themselves and make their voices heard on the national level for the nation and it's problem, not just for the South East alone.

The truth is that the North has a high level of illiteracy. Thus the youths are open a lot of manipulations. This is part of where we need to work on.

Let's concentrate on actively bettering the lives of the common man before fighting for what already exists. There is nothing other almost nothing that the Igbo man wants to do in the south East that he isn't allowed to do... So he is free. I just wish that freedom goes national for all ethnicities.
PoliticsRe: #Nnamdikanu Trending In Nigeria After 'arrest' - BBC by ayd91(m): 6:41am On Oct 20, 2015
Lincolnburrows:
The question F.G should ask themselves is "why are people still clamoring for this cause?" There cannot be true progress of a nation without genuine reconciliation, fairness, non_victimization, equality to all parties concerned. How many people are really proud to be Nigerians? How many people can die for Nigeria? What is the Nigerian dream(just like we have American dream). Who are our founding fathers....Are they men of integrity?
The hard fact is that 80 years from now, the next generation will still be clamouring for break-up which goes to show that the foundation of this country is wrong.

Nigeria is not a nation because nobody is willing to die for Nigeria. Breaking this country can be a blessing in disguise for all parties.
I like your approach to the subject, but I must humbly disagree. Nigeria as a country in design had some flaws some of which have been corrected. We've made some progress so far.
To decide if Nigeria really should be broken up we need to assess the reason behind clamour for its divide.
I am rational and I believe things haven't gotten to the point where we should even imagine this. The question of breaking up should be left to the next two generations who I believe would be in a better position to decide the fate of Nigeria.
The status quo is full of propaganda and false reportage, with a hint of dishonesty.

To say people are unwilling to die for Nigeria is right and wrong. I know people who daily put themselves at the forefront both military and civilians for the purpose of a better Nigeria. The population of such individuals are few but they exist.

Furthermore, if Nigerians were loyal to their States or even ethnic groups I think some level of development would've thrived at the local and state level. But the contrary is the reality. The truth is Nigerians are largely SELF SERVING, we have not just learnt the art of leadership and service. Our greed and servile attitude is what is pushing us towards extinction.

No matter how many structures you break Nigeria into, the current state of mind would dominate and transform the structure to its previous point. If Nigeria must survive and thrive, we must change our approach to life.

Good morning Nigeria, Africa, Earth.

What can I say? A picture they say is worth a thousand words. Well, she's nicely made-up. That's no prove of her age and all.
An all natural photo would do more justice.

I'd like to believe that this was a politically motivated marriage (as is common in monarchies) and not a man "seeking fresh blood". She should have been married to his son instead.

Anyways the deed is done and his subjects are pleased. What else can I say.

Nigerians are so hard to please.
No reasonable leader should try pleasing Nigerians. Just lead while making the best decision for the country and it's citizens.

Just reading some comments makes me question the caliber of citizens we're breeding in Nigeria.

OfoIgbo:
The killings and pogroms in Nigeria started in1945 when Hausa and Fulani people started mounting pogroms against easterners. A few more such pogroms took place before the troubles thatbstarted in 1966.
Zik did not retaliate during his time as he was busy chasing the false illusion of ONE NIGERIA.
Of course, Dim Ojukwu the realist, saw what was happening, and fought to defend his people.
With due respect to your intellect, Zik was a great man/leader with incredible foresight unfortunately many people/Igbo saw him as a weakling/traitor.
While Ojukwu was deemed a hero, people failed to realize that his actions (though not intended) actually brought death to Eastern Nigeria/ Igboland. If he had stopped at calling Igbos back home without declaring a sovereign state there would never have been a war and thus no Igbo lives would have been lost on Igbo soil.
I think somewhere along the line the call for vengeance, anger and expectations from his people who looked up to him led to a comprising decision. I'm not saying that the issue was properly handled on the Nigerian side, clearly it wasn't. I don't believe in sweeping this UNCIVIL WAR under the rug, but we are clearly too biased to handle the issue. The polity is still charged with anger and bitterness.
I hope official apologies are tendered to the right parties and government sanctioned looting returned.

naijaking1:
Nice talk, but short on reality.
40 years, 50, years, and even 100 years is not a long time to forget the past as a pointer for the future. Buhari and other people who fought for "One Nigeria" now rejects that concept when it comes to Igbos: from 5%, to making Igbos visitors in their own country, especially when it's convinient for them.
Bigotry has been used, is been used, and will continue to be used by people who understand that it's the laziest way out.
[quote author=naijaking1 post=38385490]Igbos are clearly not visitors in Nigeria. Sorry to say, but that's biased. Go to Kogi State, Abuja, Nasarawa, Niger and other states and witness how much the Igbos are thriving then you'd have a rethink. Nigeria may not be perfect but slowly we're getting their.
Good morning.

Buhari is a terrorist - FIXED
Not too long ago people said GEJ was behind terrorism in Northern Nigeria, I said FALSE, he is chilling in Otuoke now and Boko Haram members rages on. Now you say it's PMB. Truth is both parties could have inflated the conflict and tried to undermine each other via the media, but to cast the burden of blame on this individuals would be an ahistoric injustice.
What Nigeria needs to do is put heads together and cut this serpent's head off.

This statements wouldn't help our situation. Imagine the difficulty the victims of this attacks are facing, Nigerians must unite.

Till now I am waiting for them to block it. Why must I pass through such hell to give them info they lost out of their carelessness. Can they do this in south Africa? They treat us as animal because we don't reason. They are the ultimate loser if they block your SIM.
You spoke well. MTN and other networks should be held accountable for their actions. I mean, the y can't just loose our data and punish us for their NEGLIGENCE. What's even annoying me is the fact that they had the guts to block our lines like it meant nothing to our normal lives.
