it seems I've been away for long, missed all the action. Poetry Club? Cool concept, its time poetry got its fair share of attention and appreciation on NL. Kudos to the originators. Good morning all. |
In times of war prosperity stops. In fact, life as we know it cease to exist. We as Nigerians should learn from the Middle East's experience. Nobody truly wins a war (particularly internal wars). Embrace peace but weed out the few that frustrate peace. Good morning all. |
I honestly can't say which is worse, the pedigree of comments posted in this thread or the ill treatment we receive home and abroad. I guess y'all too busy making jokes about this.... Once upon a time it was a Nigerian brutally assaulted and killed in Spain by immigration officers, a Nigerian boy maltreated by Egyptian air workers. Keep making silly joke and one day will read of your demise at the hands of Togolese Immigration officers... We'll just laugh over it. Keep making jokes and sarcastic comments. Damn these corrupt cougers!!!. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Da fuq ? What's ur point ?okay? What's thread about again? *Reads again* My point is "the eastern custodians of democracy and development in the Eastern part of Nigeria (as every other region in Nigeria) are failing. So they are the cause of the region's woes and NOT the entity Nigeria. Until this sets of corrupt leaders are weeded out, even secession would save the region." *I hope you read this without bias* no beefs, I've also got eastern blood somewhere in my veins. |
It seems Nigerians love the American Dream more than other citizens. |
And so the rivalry was awoken...... |
Wow, I hope these men of God go into more charitable causes. |
Energy drinks ain't my stuff. Anyway, nice info. |
Smaller than anticipated but, it was cool reading them. Kudos guys. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Yand so the Biafran dream died. ,there is diversity at every stage, we only have to decide and be resolute in our pursuit for better lives. Unity, Peace and Tolerance. |
Kogi= Roadrunner lord save our soul. |
Lame brains bring lame ideas. Are Nigerians that dumb? I swear the middle east will be the death of us (if we don't wake up), Israel and UAE + the rest. |
This an attempt to portray the typical revolution senario. Exploring the falsehood of self-serving leaders posing as saviors only to turn when their goal (Power) is fulfilled. This not saying 'we are doomed' but that true damnation comes from our decision to follow bad leadership blindly. Furthermore, I am not a fan of revolution. Tunisia, Egypt, Libya are living proves of why. Read and draw your own inferences. |
His lordship looms, surfing steadily amidst suffering souls. Encamped niggardly atop Machiavelian heights, Resonating from ravenous sages. With moments of respite far from sight, Altruistic gurus bound by plight, Send forth disciples. Taking enviable spots reserved for martyrdom. You are fulfilling destiny, they are told. You are making history, You are bringing freedom, Today you become martyrs. 'Death to the tyrant' they yell, Punching leperous fingers in the air, surrounded by psyched up cronies, Dazzled by cheap oratory. Gob smacked, Paralyzed with fright, They watch Idly with no response. The rising dust; The sweating man; The shallow smiles; A sight all too familiar. Once again tomorrow's leaders match, Chanting songs of rebellion, Rejoicing in battle as the charge into awaiting doom, Leaving behind brave gurus, Left to the hazardous task of planning in luxurious dens. With battle cries seized, Body counts made, Looting bags filled, Castle gates breached, New machiavelian heights attained, It is clear, His lordship has fallen. Hydra's head lies severed, Amidst jubilant victors, Altruistic gurus emerge, Laying Claims to the ultimate prize. Behold, the birth of new Hydras, Alongside new Altruistic Gurus. |
What will we not hear, read and see. The news keeps getting weirder... Welcome back to the land of landlords. |
Naija I hail thee. This guys are set for life. Too bad the money can't be transferred after death. |
It is clear GEJ needs a better Public relations team. The current one is cr+ap. That's if he has one. This thread is informative. |

Christmas In The Sahara Let snow fail to fall, Let Ice fail to form, Let Santa miss my call, Christmas'll stand alone. Friday is black everywhere but here, No smoking vents for saint Nicholas I swear. Trust my guts, He'll make it to all but here. Jingle Jingle, Sounds the messiah never heard, The sounds I hear from afar. Gusty winds fill the air, Camels strut as we ride through death dunes. Memories of the magies fill my mind, The mystical king, His huge destiny, What it was all about. So if no tree is lit, If no missilttoe hangs above me, If no presents sit at my tree, I still have the messiaha to celebrate. I'll be merry, The constellations cheer me, Family surrounds me, Wouldn't trade them for anything else. |
Its Christmas time and I think it will be nice for us in the poetry corner to celebrate in our own way. Lets put together a collection of Christmas poems. Please let it be your original works. |
All this pessimistic comments about Nigeria and how all staying here are doomed to fail really got me depressed. What right do you have to destroy the little faith and confidence others have in the country. I know you believe no good can come out of Nigeria but the country made you didn't it? I don't have the means to travel out, nor property to sell to do so. My plan is to make the best of what is around me and succeed. If anyone has the means to leave Nigeria for better opportunities, fine do so. You aren't accountable to anyone's opinions and your kids won't have much interest in listening to why you didn't succeed. So do what you have to do. I still believe Nigeria will get better, when we stop believing, we can be rest assured the end has come. |
The 'Car' senario is a clear reason why we must never fight. Nobody wins, only loses. The Nigerian government ought to deploy troops in Car, in a designated safe-heaven for Nigerians pending evacuation. |
Not a fan of Nollywood. But good to know its holding up as a source of prestige and income. . . I wonder what the criteria was? |
I wonder when KSU will resume. Just hope they won't go for another strike after this. I rep KSU. |
What NONSENSE!!!!! Its thoughts like these that has led us to were we are today. Marginalization? Where? Must we all produce presidents? So what if the president comes from the east, west, north or south? All this friction is caused by elites who find the current disposition unfavourable. GEJ is president and he is from NIGER-DELTA. I ask, how many poor or middle class NIGER-DELTANS have been uplifted by he presidency? Its no different from an average notherner or southerner. Stop this poor reasoning and liberate yourself from mental slavery. |
Do ME, I Do YOU? That's far from the case here. It can be likened to the case of North Koreans assaulting blacks because of what their "brother" Obama did. No link at all. Nobody should bring any religious protest near me. Mum is Christian, dad is Muslim. No time for religious politics. |
mu2sa2: Is it that they've declared war on lslam and muslims? Ok oo, let's see who wins. Btw, those who set out to exterminate lslam in the past, where are they today? And lslam keeps growing at astonishing rate, as God wills. The government and the people of Angola are not to be blamed. I see it as them being scared of Islam and its influence. When they look at Nigeria, Congo, Somalia, Kenya, it seems like the right thing to do. The fact is Islam (by design or accident) is factly becoming the new trend to dread. If God is truly with Islam, eventually all this will pass. long live Nigeria. . |
Angola has reportedly declared Islam illegal and ordered for all of the country’s mosques to be closed down. Minister of culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that mosques in the largely Christian country would be closed until further notice. She described Islam as a ‘sect’ that would be banned as counter to Angolan customs and culture. There are unconfirmed reports that mosques across the African country are being destroyed, according to the International Business Times. President Jose Edurado dos Santos reportedly told the Osun Defence daily: ‘This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country.’ Along with Islam, which is a religion associated with less than 1 per cent of the population of 19 million, 194 other ‘sects’ have been banned in the nation, where more than half the population is Christian. Ms Cruz e Silva said: ‘The legalisation of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights [and] their mosques will be closed until further notice.’ Clashes between Christians and Muslim people are frequently reported in the local media. Less than 1 per cent of the Angolan population of 19 million people are Muslim source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2513388/Angola-bans-Islam-shuts-mosques.html |
