Hi fellow Canadians šŸ˜Š, please help me out.

Iā€™m a married man but I have been separated from my wife for a few years now (not fully divorced yet). I just initiated divorce proceedings few days ago because I want to create EE profile and start my Canada PR journey.

I have another lady who I am exclusively dating & willing to take her with me to Canada. This is where the confusion sets in;

- Thereā€™s ā€˜legally separatedā€™ in the EE marital status but Iā€™m not sure whether I will be asked to provide some legal documents to prove that. Though I could get a letter from the lawyer handling the divorce and from the registry where the marriage was held

-Should I create my EE profile & apply for PR as ā€˜married with spouse unaccompanying ā€™ pending the divorce process is completed? Mind you divorce could take up to 6 months to a year to be completed.

-If I chose ā€˜common law relationshipā€™ with my current gf, is there any placeholder or box to explain that Iā€™m in the process of divorce with the one I earlier applied for PR with ?

Please note: I canā€™t apply as single because my ex and I have applied for PR before with our marriage certificate before things went sour between us.

Please bail me out my senior colleagues or someone that has been in this kind of situation so I donā€™t go astray šŸ™.

Thank you

I think you'll need the affidavit from the court that you've initiated the divorce process if you apply as separated. Checkout Reddit, once stumbled on someone in a similar situation.

U can't start planing without having enough funds ...

I know from experience that this is simply not true. If you only dream just as far as your eyes can see, you won't go beyond what your eyes can see. Trust me I'm not even giving fake motivation, this worked for me. She has enough money to carry out the most important steps in the process, she'll figure out the rest along the way.

Do u know how much plane ticket is to Canada??

This is the problem. You focus first on all the things that'll stop you 8 steps ahead instead of focusing on the problem right before you. Do you know how many steps she has to take on the Canadian PR journey before she gets to the plane ticket part? that should be the least of her worries. She should focus on getting the PR first.

Sounded like you had a diploma and a degree. If you have up to two diplomas, that should work. Check out the Canadian express entry thread on Nairaland.

You are more than qualified for the Canadian Express entry. You should easily be nominated for the healthcare worker category. Use that 2m to evaluate your credentials with WES, and write IELTS. You'll figure out proof of funds on the way.

Hi everyone! please I'm a bit confused about a requirement for the Ontario priority stream. I got a NOI from Ontario in the last draw, and I have an HND that was evaluated as two or more degrees. I was watching a video now on the steps to apply, but the person said you need a minimum of a bachelor's to apply for this stream. Has anybody applied with an HND before or am I getting something wrong?

I'll advise remarking your writing. It'll most likely come back higher and that should improve your score. Also, MOD and BC recently introduced single skill rewrite, so you can rewrite listening alone and fully max out your points. All the best.

Hello Everyone,

I appreciate this group so much! I have been in the corners reading up, and now I have a question. My husband is a blue card holder, and I want to ask if the visa and verification fee can be paid via my atm card or bank transfer so I don't have to take cash with me.

Please, those who have gone for the interview can help as mine comes up in the last week of November. Also, how many months after the interview should I expect the process to be complete? It has been too long

Sorry for answering your question with another question, but was there no way to hasten your appointment with your husband's blue card?

Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate.
Please in which case can one declare 2 or more certificates?
My HND n MBA are not 2 certificates cry

Your MBA alone carries more points than two or more certificates. So you are good. HND gives two or more certificates when evaluated with an OND and BSC holders can get two or more certificates by getting an extra certification e.g ACCA, BCS and co

Giving yourself the very tight 6 months timeline is a very big recipe for failure in this japa journey. Taking the time even if it's 3 years to do it properly and not run into another world of struggle because of desperation is a better strategy in my opinion. Take your time to research, consider learning French and exploring Canadian express entry. That process alone might take up to 18 months. also, consider learning in demand skills in your country of choice, trust me japa is only sweet when you are not working ridiculous hours doing menial jobs. The rewards of taking these steps far outweighs that you'll get if you desperately escape in 6 months.

Good day. I would like to find out if ā‚¬4,000 monthly would be enough to comfortably cater for a family of 4 in the Netherlands- feeding, accommodation, health insurance, savings and all.

Please do a simple breakdown or explanation of your response. Thank youšŸ™šŸ½šŸ™šŸ½šŸ™šŸ½

I think that amount can be managed. Just stay away from major cities and encourage your spouse to get at least a part time job.

I would advise that you consider other options. Netherlands is having a severe housing crisis at the moment alongside an immigration crisis. This has created friction within the coalition party and they are calling for elections again. The government is even asking universities to limit the amount of international students being admitted as they won't have anywhere to stay. You can read all that up. They are also looking to revamp their post study laws so those who finish their studies go back to their country immediately after studies.

For him to be asking if 4k monthly is enough, it sounds like he already has a job there. I see no reason why he shouldnā€™t move if thatā€™s the case. You can get your citizenship in 5 years in the Netherlands after coming in on work visa and you even get tax benefits for the first 5 years of your stay. People live there now and I donā€™t think itā€™s impossible for him to find accommodation on that income if he stays away from major cities at least.

Travel / Re: Relocation Abroad: Staying In Nigeria To Build Wealth VS Security Abroad by Ayinke93(f): 1:11am On Jul 06, 2023
Gerrard59:

Quick one: How come this narrative of yours doesn't affect Indians, Chinese and Pakistanis in the west? Across top universities in the US, most Asians dominate the academic positions if one looks at the number of minorities but very few blacks. In Europe, there's a Pakistani mayor in London, an Indian Chancellor of the Exchequer, an Indian prime minister in Ireland, a Moroccan mayor in Rotterdam etc. I wager that there would be either an Indian or Pakistani prime minister in the UK as the first non-White PM. Which brings me to the quality of migrants blacks constitute and the paths they choose to follow when integrating into western countries. When the quality of migrants is low and the path they choose to follow when integrating is weak (go to lowly ranked schools = not being able to climb to top positions, not understanding the corporate culture in the country and adapting, asking for waivers without putting in the work, wants to be placated instead of working hard etc). These factors will most likely affect the rise of blacks in the society.

During the early 1900s, there were more blacks than Asians in Stuyvesant High School. Currently, there are more Asians than blacks in the same school and this is a school that sends most of her graduands to Ivy League universities which translates to them becoming top professionals in their fields in the future. However, instead of blacks to do what the Asians did (overtook whites as largest group of enrolled students in the '90s in Stuyvesant), they ask for dampening of the standards to enter the same school whereas Asians never asked for same. Unsurprisingly, these Asians dominate academic, corporate, governmental, public policy etc. positions. What about African students aspiring to study in the US? The vast majority don't bother to apply to top schools whereas Indians and Chinese do same. In the future, who do you expect as minorities to dominate top positions in the society? If there's a concerted effort by blacks to aim for the very highest standards in developed countries, there would be a change. I recall when I was applying to schools in the UK, a distant uncle advised I target the lowly ranked unknown universities, I objected. Explaining that as a black man from Nigeria, it's best to target the top universities as they offer more opportunities, valuable network and access to the top echelon of the society. He said no, that it's the best targeting these lowly ranked universities so that one would start from scratch. But hey, will I expect to be a renowned person or get access to an invaluable network if I don't target the top schools? Check out the Nobel prize laureates in science (there has been no black laureate in the science category), almost all went to or work(ed) in top institutions. There are more Indian and Pakistani winners than blacks. One reason is because these people go to top institutions more than black people. The Nobel Foundation has over years rewarded previous research so in the future, it will reward current researches going on and there would be largely in top universities where you have more Indians, Pakistanis, Japanese, Chinese than blacks (citizens or migrants).

Regarding other developed non-western countries, like I stated earlier, you need to look at the quality of migrants and the number. If there are more blacks in Japan or Malaysia who attend top institutions and understand the corporate culture, then you will get more of them in top positions. There's currently a Malian President (Japan's nomenclature for Vice-chancellor) in a Japanese university just as there has been an Indian mayor in a suburb in Tokyo. Hopefully, with the nature of the express entry by Canada, the quality of migrants who leave Nigeria to Canada will be totally different from same Nigerians who go to Malaysia or the UAE. In the future, there would be a stark difference in the outcome.

At the end of the day, it behoves on black people to embrace capitalism and make the dominant black environment (Africa) to be rich. I'm amused when I read tweets and posts from black people who lampoon capitalism. That's the only way to get rich and earn respect not necessarily love from others. Truth is: black people will keep getting discriminated because they are poor and infact the poorest globally of all races. Last I checked, no one disrespects a rich person, no one does.

This is hands downs the best comment Iā€™ve read on Nairaland. You touched all the issues and left no crumps.

Trust me I sent even more proof. Business and all. Letter of meeting Iā€™m expected to attend for verification with the federal government plus my friend had previously sent an invite just last month to another friend and she was given. With the proof I sent, if they could deny especially when itā€™s huge benefits then I feel they didnā€™t just want to give. Even family living in France canā€™t stop me from returning to collect money that the government owes. Especially when itā€™s not little. The officer was probably having a bad day. Lol . Meanwhile I thought the idea of an invite is to be able to hold someone responsible if you do not return .

I said the same when I was denied too. I even work for a company there and I was also invited. When I got an immigration lawyer to look over my denial, and he started breaking down all my mistakes, I was surprised. So you may want to reapply and correct those mistakes. Iā€™m sure they had a reason for the denial.

So I just went to pick up my passport at Gbagada office . And even though I have family benefits that I have to collect in September which I have to be present for and I put all the proof and letters signed right from presidency.recieved from every office and every stage. Plus an invitation letter from my friend , I was refused .

Just one reason, that there were reasonable doubts I wonā€™t leave the territory. So I guess they just decide by any means who to give and not . I donā€™t know a stronger proof of home ties than collecting family benefits the government owes which is due in September.Suddenly I lost interest in the country altogether. Looking at better options moving on. Because to not return to Nigeria because of France is laughable
From what Iā€™ve found, invitations from people living in a country is actually not beneficial for tourist visas unlike business visas. It shows that if you decide to stay back, itā€™s easy for you because you have a place to stay. If you decide to reapply, attach family pictures, state clearly in your letters that you have no one in France and you have very strong home ties in your family and youā€™ll be coming back. I was also denied because I stated that I had someone in the Schengen region. All the best.
