In Spirit of giving back, I had my interview today, Although I was denied but I was happy that I said the truth at the interview.
Had my first visa in 2015 Sept for visiting but gave birth in Dec,never knew I could declare child birth,I remember I saw a heavy pregnant woman that and I and hubby was saying she's bold.
Anyway, I paid all my fees and we went on vacation again in 2016 with no issue at POE.
It was here I knew about zero balance, hospital and doctor correspondence etc.... I called Boston Medical centre and my zero balance was sent.
We did Dropbox for renewal, hubby's own was issued and I was called in for interview.
Before the dropbox, I already called hospitals and doctors in Boston since I knew I would be called to explain myself...below is my transcript:

VO: Good morning, can I have your passport
Me: Good morning and hands over the passport
VO: Why are you going to the US
Me: For childbirth
VO: How long did you stay in the US the last time
Me: 20 weeks
VO: What were you doing
Me: I had my first child
VO: When
Me: December
VO: You had your visa in September and gave birth in December, that means you lied during your interview.
Me: Yes and am sorry for the lies
VO: Do u have proof of payment
Me: Yes and I showed it to her, she went through it
VO: what do you do
Me: I told her where I work and I explained my duties extensively
VO: what does your hubby do
Me: I told her what he does
VO: We take the issue of 'credibility' very serious, am sorry ma'am I can't give you the visa.

Lesson learnt:
Before embarking on any project, do your research very well and extensively, if I have the information I have now in 2015,I wouldn't have been denied the visa.

I hope the newbies learn from my experience and always be truthful.

Thank you for sharing dear...
Some of us will learn from this...

It will be okay...

Please try to 're-apply, let's hope for the best!

Hello lovely & beautiful expected mothers & fathers...

A very big congratulations to you in advance from me...

I believe bringing a child into the world is something words cannot describe & i celebrate each and every parent doing their best to give their child the best...

Also I want to specially celebrate the men in the house, you husbands & fathers rock . You being supportive through the pregnancy and delivery will bring you nothing but blessings.

That being said I wanted to shift add a few things to our conversation here & I hope this will be helpful for both those that would deliver in the U.S and in Nigeria as the case may be since this group is also about birthing a child(or children).

So much preparation!

Since so many of us travel very close to our due dates to deliver...I want to briefly & quickly talk about our hospital bags, having it packed up & ready before the rush to the hospital, clinic or birth centers especially in the U.S.

A hospital bag is what we take to the hospital with our frequently used personal items pack up in it for you & if your husband is there with you & him as well.

Here is a brief list for us:
1. Hospital documents from previous Nigerian Hospital & updated documents from the birthing hospital.
Along with writing materials just in case you want to journal down somethings, experiences...
That's a pen & a journal

For Baby:
2. Diapers/ Nappies (1 pack)

3. Minimum or 3 change of clothes according to the weather (long sleeved inner wear)

4.Head warmer, gloves, socks,

5. A car sear or stroller for when you leave the hospital.

For Mummy
6. Your Phone, Phone charger, ipads, tablets & their chargers, earphones.

7.Your go home outfit after birth (should be loose & free as though you were 6 months pregnant)

8. Your labouring outfit like a singlet, bra top or sports bra...(though the hospital, clinic or birth centers provide a gown)

9.A healthy snack bar, a drink or a bottle of water(though hospitals don't usually allow eating)

10. Toothbrush, toothpaste

11.Your favourite bathing soap & body creme.

12. Nursing bras(2 just in case) & breast pads.

13.Black underwear (pants)

14.Heavy duty sanitary pads for after delivery.

15. Coins for vending machine (just incase)

16.Tictacs for our breath.. smiley

17. Your make up bag incase you will take pictures or record.

18. Camera & camera charger incase you will take pictures or record.

19. Deodorant Ooo!

20. socks...we are likely to feel a little cold during the process.

21.A hair band or hair packer as we know it or a rubber band to pack our hair do up because our hair may get in the way during the process.

For Daddy or Partner
22. Tooth brush & tooth paste

23. Snack bars (they get hungry too) & a drink
They make use of the vending machine change to get themselves other stuff.

24. Body spray, deodorant, bathing soap is provided in the facility, they usually make use of that...

And I think we are set to go ladies...

As Africans I didn't put shampoo, conditioner...because our hair is usually made down or braided so...if you want you could add it.

I hope this was helpful!
Please if you have anything you think should be added help us...

Much love for you guyz!

my goodness dear...I have to say you have some issues...

Go back and read & sort your emotions out.

what you posted is my response to someone else...and not to her....

Go back & read my response to her & understand why I responded to the person in that way or maybe it's you...

The person said she tried & would not have been able to take those kind of insults & I'm Saying...anyone who knew what they had done at their interview to get the visa would probably swallow it up at that point...

Abeg sorry I didn't read your whole post because its seems like you like to argue more than learn or listen...

Na broken english I speak o!
If you know say you lie...you for de more humble than she....that response was not even directed at her....

Please have some rest...it's better.

Hello everyone. Regarding the disagreements about whether people lied or not when applying for their B1B2 visas because they later decided to have their babies in the US especially in scenarios where they were not pregnant at the time of interview. I'd like to make 2 comments.

1. I believe sometimes people are sincerely mistaken and are not trying to be fraudulent or lie. Personally, I have applied and got multiple US visas and I just assumed B1 was visitor and business and B2 was medical. I have always selected B1 after choosing B1B2 and have had no issues at JFK.... thank God ( never childbirth visits though!). Yet I only just discovered from the US department website this week that even tourist and family visits should actually select B2 as the specific purpose of visit after choosing B1B2 as the general reason on the DS160. Pls see this link for the definition of B2. Shocking much!!!! In summary unless we are going on business, we should choose B2 for visit, tourism, medical, childbirth, family visit etc. I don't know if this a recent change.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visitor.html

2. As was pasted on page zero of this thread by justwise (a comment made by abujaniv, I think) regardless of what visa you choose which is approved by the VO, the border control personnel are the ones with the authority to permit entry into the US. I personally believe it's a discretionary thing depending on the US state (if liberal or conservative), the POE (enough reviews on Chicago for the wise), their mood, your comportment, whether other info you give ties with what you had given the VO, "burden of proof" etc.

I don't think it's unusual to indicate a travel date on the DS160 and decide not to travel. Although i inderstand that showing up with a big tummy at POE may look suspect! The DS160 form itself asks if you have made concrete travel plans and if you answer no, the memo note beside the date says give an approximate date of travel. So border officers that bounce people based on "you said you're coming for 2 weeks now you're saying 5 weeks " are being a little harsh but still they are exercising their US given right to bounce, in my opinion.

Summary......maybe all should choose B2 for medical trips, holidays, visit to see family and otherwise and carry your portmanteau of evidence to prove what you are really going to do, to show that you can pay for what you are going to do and evidence that you plan to return home pronto without using a dime of tax payers money.

Peace out!

Waow!
Thanks for your input....

I would like say on my part that I never directly called anyone a liar as my fellow emotional preggo said...

I just said there are consequences when we don't tell the truth especially when you are caught in it.

Okay 2ndly, I don't like to generalize individual cases...

For this sister in question's case...according to the information she gave us...
The POE complained that she applied for a visa for vacation and as soon as she got the visa she started communicating with hospitals in the United States which was evidence she had a plan to deliver in the United States from the get!

We are not children...we are honest with one another here and we guide one another...

Our sister told us where she went wrong, let's just learn from it and do our best...

Much love everyone!

Thanks so much, my wife was denied visa for birthing and what they told us was that we should not have told the VO that she wanted to go and give birth but after joining nairaland and gotten more informed, by God grace with more than enough info here, we are going to the embassy togther and we will boldly tell them she wants to go and give birth since we have researched and confirmed it is legal s, we can afford it and with the favour of God, we would be given the visas as Jesus lives. Although, some pple on this forum can make u feel sad that u have committed grievous sins on those things u dont know and ignorant of thank God for some one like Ramj she gave me one of the most encouraging reply and even so short, i was happy unlike others.

Ooh Waow!

Don't be sad....just stand to be corrected...That's why we are all here...
We naturally feel sad when we didn't do well, but it's okay if you know better & then do better...

But I just always wonder who are the 'they' that tell people to lie...those 'they' need to be interrogated on where they get their info.

A colleague of mine also told me that they told him to lie and himself & wife went on ahead & even with their $30,000 they were denied...

Do you know that it is not only the success stories in this forrum that helps us but also the challenges that people have had that help us.

If you read back, you will see a lot of trashing of things out but in the end we all learnt.

So it is well my brother do your best, trash out your stuff here and go forth...
Better to be shy or embarrassed here with us than at the embassy or in another land where u know our dear government's hands may not reach you to protect you...

In fact the strict teachers on this group have mellowed down & have stopped responding to some things because they expect us to read...
Now I'm looking bad & I dont even know half of what they do.

Best of everything!

MamaOO:

I understand where both of you are coming from and there's iota of truth both submissions. But the truth still remains that she lied. I am not saint by any means, I've lied before and will probably still lie in the future, but the thing is... situations like that (lying to Visa Officers) doesn't usually have a good outcome. And to what end sef?

We talk about Nigerians being treated with disdain and caution at POEs and while we huff and puff, we know deep down inside of us that we brought it on ourselves. A co-worker was chatting nonsense about Nigeria the other day, about how everybody was corrupt and scammers. And while I wanted to sucker-punch him, can I blame him? Thats the image we have portrayed about ourselves.

The original OP mentioned that she found out about NL after lying to get her visa, why did she not make research about the Visa before she even went to the embassy? Maybe I am the only one oo. But I seek information like no other. Before I embark on anything, I google and research the hell out of that thing so I am not caught unawares. Take for instance last night, I was researching about elementary and Middle Schools for my son. We have a school we are assigned to but I found out that there's another school rated 9/10 (our district school is 7/10). I searched and searched found out that kids are accepted based on lottery, the lottery time frames and all that. Mind you, the kid I'm doing this for is a 13month old. Kindergarten or Pre-K doesn't even start until 5years old.

CBP is not legally obligated to be polite. It depends on the person, they are doing their jobs within the jurisdiction of the law, haven't you heard that black lives don't matter in the US? You're a white criminal, you get burger king and milkshakes. You are a black criminal, you get beat down, your face plastered on the cement. That's if you're lucky you're not shot. And yeah, she got through CBP, I hope she gets through renewal too.

Thank you.

My point exactly...

In fact blacks are not just beat down, they are many times shot down. Not to talk of Nigerians.

Now one of the ways we are respected is in our approach to visa applications...

I have read testimonies here of mothers that had all their documentations arranged in a file and they were commend for their organization...

Now I'm not looking down on anyone, never called anyone a liar as the otherwoman said...just talking about expected consequences for action & not the victim mentality...

We can learn from her experience....

I personally think they deliberately kept her to miss her connecting flight because they had her ticket.. it could have been worse & they have every right to do their jobs.

But I'm just saying the truth with much love to my fellow expectant mothers....

Remain blessed.

No I'm not holy.

I gave her sympathy,I gave thanks for her & also gave her my prayers.
why didn't u notice that.

But when I tell the truth that there are consequences for lying to get a visa especially if you get caught...u rise up .

My dear I pray for more hope for Nigeria in as much as we try to give our children the best we can.

If you understand the political relationship between nations, you may understand why they are trying to protect themselves...
Most of the United States terrorists were American born but not American allied...and many of us deliver and immediately retreat from the United States with the child...
So the children are not taught the history or the ethics of The United States but of another country and if you analyze our Nigeria, we have a recent history of terrorism within...
But let's not go there.

The only thing you see is that you are pregnant and that you have the money to deliver there...
But you should try to be understanding from their perspective too...

They just need their records straight of who comes in for what & for how long..

We are our children's mentors, if people convince u to lie, if your children begin to tell lies just to get what they want, how will you feel...

I'm not judging... and I say this out of love...
Don't think of yourself alone...put the balance for everyone.

If that officer was someone who lost a family member in 9/11, she might have over reacted bit it's part of the interrogation to scare the truth out.

All I can say is Thank God that the person in question, u or her made it safely to her family.
God helped her...if she was insulted & depoted what will we then say?

She has shared this to show the importance of telling the truth & being free as against telling lies, getting the visa & getting caught.

If someone tells us jump inside hot boiling water or fire, we probably would not.

If they say, you have to lie at the embassy to get a visa, why listen to such advice...
If she had later joined Nairaland, she would have update her information at the embassy in Nigeria that she wants to deliver....

People are not reading the stories properly & are just concluding that she was harassed.
Do you know what Nigerian Police or immigrations or army do to people with much more smaller offences??

Abeg na God save her...let's just hope for a safe delivery for her and that it does not affect her reapplication when the visa expires.

Sharing time!
So, on 6th Oct i boarded BA. The 6hrs Flight was ok bt d food wasn't, I got d opportunity to watch 'the wedding party'   1st stop - Heathrow London; was there for abt 5hrs, slept all through, airport Wi-Fi wasn't working , was hungry bt cldnt buy food coz I didn't  want to get my balance in £ and then start exchanging back to $ . 2nd leg: London to Chicago abt 7hrs; older plane tho nt so bad, food nt so fantastic. Arrived CBP desk;
Cbp: hi
Me: hi, good evening
Cbp: what are you here for?
Me: vacation and to have my baby
Cbp: are u here alone?
Me: yes
Cbp: *types on his system* then gives my passport to another officer and asks me to follow him. I was taken to an office with many other travellers sitting and waiting..
After abt 4hrs, I was called and the bashing started   can't even remember all of it.
Cbp: what are you here for?
Me: vacation and to have my baby
Cbp: when? (Due date)
Me: told her
Cbp: but that wasn't the reason your visa was issued (family vacation)
Me: trying to explain
Cbp: don't even try to lie to me, so you knew you wanted to have your baby here and you went ahead to lie to the embassy. I've met your type before. U didn't have the balls to state your reason so you just went the easy way. U are a pathetic liar (she actually said sth worse bt I can't even remember right nw).
Me: tried explaining again
Cbp: are u talking over me?
Me: i'm sorry
Cbp: just shut up. where did you say you were going during ur interview
Me: Florida, for a family vacation
Cbp: so who advised you to lie so that you can come into the U.S. and do wat u really wanted to do.
Me: a friend told us about her experience (giving birth in the U.S) and how it is legal and a good thing to do for your child. (Truthfully, We heard from few family and friends how it is nt really a big deal once u can afford it bt nobody told us abt medical visa cause all 3 of them we knw used b1/b2. They just said I shldnt disclose that I was preg both to VO and Cbp. This was all before I stumbled on NL while I was searching for hospitals and I saw all these info that nobody tld me abt. I just decided in my mind to say the truth at POE, take all necessary paperwork and pray that I wnt b sent back)
Cbp: Lemme see your documents.
Me: hands over
Cbp: is this ur 1st child?
Me: no, 2nd
Cbp: *looking thru d docs* see? Did u even see dis? U such a disgusting liar. U started contacting Drs & hospitals right after your visa. *reads the email from hosp* So VD is 20,000 bt with community discount they are bringing it down to 4200/5000. *jokes to her colleague* do u knw u can have ur child for jst $5000? I've seen so many like these *shakes her head*
When is your husband coming?
Me: by d end of November after I've had my baby.
Cbp: when?
Me: 28th Nov
Cbp: bt he hasn't got a ticket yet
Me: no he hasn't
Cbp: I thought so.
(I was smiling thru the whole interrogation) ... and why are you smiling to me face and lying like i'm saying sth funny.
Me: i'm sorry, just that I smile a lot
Cbp: it's just a defense mechanism (truth! If I wasn't smiling I wld'v prob be crying).
where will u be staying?
Me: told her the address @ Virginia. I'll be staying with my cousin.
Cbp: is she a citizen
Me: no, she's a green card holder
Cbp: how did she get it?
Me: I really don't know
Cbp: Give me your wallet, money and phone *I gave her*
Where did you get this money from?
Me: I got some from the bank and some from the black market.
Cbp: black market?
Me: bureau d change.  Where I exchanged naira for dollars
Cbp: i mean who did you borrow the money from?
Me: *confused* my husband is my sponsor and he's a business man, he gave me the money
Cbp: *sarcastic* 'everybody is a business man.
*counts the money ($9100), searches my purse, gives me a leaflet that explains why my phone will be searched and asked me to unlock it*
Cbp: *checking my whatsapp chat* who is (calls name) is she the cousin? And u sent her "we just landed in Chicago" who is "we"
Me: yes that's my cousin. By "we" i mean the plane and it's occupants.  Drop your return ticket and go back to ur seat. I'll call u when I'm done.
(All these lasted for abt 25mins)
After abt 10mins, she comes out:
Cbp:*hands over my passport, ticket, docs and  phone*. You are very lucky, your records and answers are straight. Left to me I wld' ve jst cancelled your visa.
Me: Thanks. *checked my passport to see that I was stamped for 3months* *checked my phone and saw she went through my old chats with hubby*
I thanked God and made my way to baggage claim.
Of course i' d already missed my connecting flight with American airlines. So I went to their desk and complained. Unfortunately, they don't have another same day flight so I was given a boarding pass for another flight the next day @ noon. Unfortunately, they can't help with accomodation or meal voucher (so OYO was my case). She advised I either call a number to speak with a couple of hotels around or if i didnt want to leave the airport, I could go to terminal 2 and ask for a cart (or whatever it's really called) to spend d night.
Na so I waka round Chicago airport neither finding a cart nor able to call the number. Was even directed to bus/shuttle centre to make enquiries abt hotels bt I got lost on the way . Myself jst tire me! I was hungry, extremely exhausted from pushing my heavy bags, confused beyond comprehension and I just wanted to sit in the middle of the airport and cry  ! I finally located the cart area only for them to say I can't pass through that particular security with my bags. Was asked to go back to the airline and check-in my bags. I dragged myself and my bags there only for d lovely lady to say that they don't keep bags overnight  except I can come back @ 3am dat' s when they start Check in for d day. (Time was past 9pm, 2hrs after I'd left CBP). Now I understand the meaning of "ur village ppl are doing u"
I kuku asked "pls where can I get food"? *she directs me*
I went to Starbucks and got sandwich & juice. D chic was busy complaining that she didn't have change for $100. (Hmmm... if only she knew my story). All these while, nobody @ home knws what's up with me, no free airport Wi-Fi. I havnt even called my host. Needed coins to use d payphone so I went to ask the Starbucks chic to help me change $20. She said it's too much she can't, I explained I needed to make a call, nobody knws where I am. I decided to buy more juice jst 4 d change, she saw I was serious and asked me to return the juice and gave me some change wc included $4 coins. I was able to call my cousin, said they waited 4 me @ d airport and thought I was sent back. I spent d remaining $3 trying to contact hubby, no way. Wo! I jst told my cousin to send d msg across to them. Found me a chair and jst decided to spend d night there using my bag as pillow to avoid story dat touch (thiefry )
Checked in next day, arrived Norfolk VA @ 3pm. Exhausted much!

Thank you Jesus!

I was about to say that's serious, why on earth will they leave a pregnant woman for about 4 hours Something has to be done about that.

But Then I kept reading and I was like oooh! I see..

Thank you for sharing,we also learnt from this.
And in as much as you faced difficulties, I believe God still favoured you!

Thank you Jesus indeed!

Wish you a safe delivery.

Happy Independence Day guys. Quick one: has anyone ever declared over 10k? Why do people go to great lengths to avoid it? For my DS' I literally declared like 9990 lol. But now I'm wondering: why can't I just take the full amount I want to use. So aside of safekeeping of the amount and the danger of loss, is there any other reason why people avoid declaring? What manner of questions do they ask in the declaration form and do they ever sieze funds?

Thanks guys!

I think you can declare over 10k oooh!
And I don't think they will seize your hard earned money. The highest they will do is ask you what you do for a living.
People just declare what they have...and it's noted whether below or over 10k dollars.

In the spirit of giving back, I have learnt so much from this forum keep it up guys. I and my husband got our visa in 2016 which was used for the intended purpose Honeymoon and vacation in December.
I left Nigeria on the 28th of September at 31 weeks with BA, the flight from Lagos to Heathrow was so uncomfortable and their services wasn't so great.I got to Heathrow at 5.30am and had to check in for my connecting flight with American Airline to Dallas,Got to the booth and meet an agent.

AA Agent- Purpose of Visit to the USA
Myself- Child birth & Vacation
AA  Agent- Whom would u be staying with
Myself- Childhood friend
AA Agent- When last did you see her
Myself- 2005 but we keep in touch
AA Agent - What does she do for a living?
Myself- Health Administrator
AA Agent- What do you do for a living?
Myself- I work in bleep bleep and my clients are bleep bleep bleep
AA Agent- Smiles* and said I should proceed to the shuttle to take me to Terminal 5 and my mobility assistance would be waiting for me there.

Got to the terminal gate and requested for a comfortable seat and got one that had nobody beside me, I had enough room to stretch , their services was top notch.Arrived at Dallas at 1pm and we were the first flight that landed got my wheel chair assistance,Got to the automated machine for B1 & B2 visa, proceeded to the CBP officer.

Myself- Hello and smiled
CBP- He smiles back and hello too, he tried to pronounce  my name started laughing,I had to
pronounce my name the right way.
CBP- Do you have any food with you
Myself-Yes,plantain flour, peanuts, basil, pumpkin leaves and pepper soup spices.

He nooded and  started  gisitng with the lady that was assisting me,once they were done he was about to stamp me in without asking any further questions,I had to tell him I was here for Child birth and vacation ,he didn't notice I was pregnant and my tummy wasn't so big

CBP-How long are u here for?
Myself- 3months and two weeks
CBP-How much do you have on you ?
Myself- $ 7000
CBP officer- Stamps me in on my passsport  for 6 months (which  i didnt see how long )and said I would have to get to agriculture.

Got to Agriculture they scanned my bags and asked  whether I had indomie ,egusi ,ogbonno told them No to all,I had bleep bleep bleep.
Met another another  CBP officer, he asked for my passport which I gave him.
CBP-What are  u here for?
Myself- Child birth and Vacation.
CBP-requested for my doctors correspondence  which I gave him and  gave me  back my passport.
I looked at my passport and asked the officer how long am I stamped in for and he joked for a day, I finally saw where i was stamped till March 2018.Proceeded to go and check into my local flight to Houston.
POE was a breeze for me i spent just 20 mins in total from the CBP and agriculture.
Resting and waiting for my doctors appointment on Tuesday.

That means they stamped you in for 3 months!

Strong woman,
Congratulations!

I'm just wondering what's up BA, used to be one of the most comfortable and demanded airline services...

Thank God you enjoyed the American airlines...
Wish you a great deliver and stay...

Okay so am back. Lol

Long post alert. So my flight was for 10.30 pm and I left Ajah by 4 cos I heard traffic in Lagos was gangster that Wednesday. I spent over 4 hours on 3mb traffic. Apparently a truck had broken down somewhere. By this time I was already frantic that I wouldn't meet my flight. I checked in online and kept praying. 8.30 I just got to the end of 3mb and decided to take oshodi. Luckily for us the road was free. Got to the airport past 9. Check in was about to close. I quickly rushed to the line. There was no queue, my bag wasn't searched . I wasn't asked for fit to fly, neither was I asked to go to quarantine. I checked in and proceeded to board.

Used delta airlines. Flight was long but thankfully I was close to the restroom and had an aisle seat so I could go to the bathroom frequently.

Landed Atlanta and proceeded to customs. It seems ours was the only flight that landed that morning so the queue wasn't long.

It got to my turn and the con asked for my passport. I have it to her and she asked what I was here for. I said childbirth. Asked why us and I explained I had had 2 misccariages and this was my first child so I wanted the best healthcare. Then she said but healthcare is also good in Nigeria and that anything couldalso happen here and I replied yes we do have good healthcare but lack infrastructure in case of any complication and that my child gets to enjoy dual citizenship.

She asked how much I had on me told her 9800. Asked if I had more told her I did in my don acct in Nigeria totalling 14k usd cos at my interview I had stated my budget as 15k usd. Probably she don't hear me well she directed me to secondary inspection and wrote 14k usd on my custom form but stamped my passport.

Got to sec inspection. Waited 10 mins till I was called. Was asked how much I had on me. Told the con 9800 then he asked why the previous lady wrote 14k so I explained it was in my usd aget back home that I only had card. Asked the name of my doc who I'll be staying with if I had an appointment and when. I answered all questions.

No documents was asked for. My money wasn't even counted. Asked if I had food stuff. I said yes I had declared them on my custom form.

He told me to wheel my luggage to the scanner. I opened my box. I carried garri ,iru, dry fish pepersoup spice pepper crayfish and indomie chicken. Only my indomie was seized. I proceeded to join my connecting flight.

On getting to my destination I saw that my other box was broken open by tsa and I saw the card saying my luggage had been searched. Nothing was missing though.

So thankful for this forum.

I wasn't even asked why I changed destination from El Paso to Los Angeles. Wasn't asked for any documents also. So all in all I'll say it was smooth.

Wanted to specially thank @fygorgyn for assistance in getting docs and hospital details and everyone who has been helpful so far

Congratulations to you!

I hope to be in Atlanta by next month!

Wishing you the very best dear.

Guys can we just cut this like right now.

I conceived my first 5years ago in March and had him November 30th...so no big deal. The poster came here for advice not for us to analyze her pregnancy et all. If she says 10 weeks in June and EDD November...SO BE IT!....Tailor your advice to suit her question.PERIOD!

Dear we are talking about an EDD not if your baby came before the EDD...

Read the story and advice the person please what they should tell either the Visa Officer or POE...

Abeg....we are not talking about when you delivered but we are talking about the information they gave the visa officer... that got them the visa and now they were confused on what to tell the officers incase they asked when they get to the U.S

So this is not about when you delivered but the info and story that was told while asking for advice...
Please I know Nigeria has a way to go but which hospital in Nigeria tells a woman that she is 10 weeks in June and is due in November?

How can we defend the person's story??

Abeg read the story and advice...

Unfelt:
After 5 years of trying for a baby, taking hormonal drugs that clearly affect her monthly cycle u think the first thing that will come to her mind when she misses a period is to take a pregnancy test?? who died and made you the the pregnancy police?? with PCOS some women do not even see their periods for months nd months....So how can u, with no knowledge of her fertility history call her/him a liar Now, i ask, if you go around insulting and judging people like this," what does the future hold for home trainings & the country"

Unfelt please stop being dramatic...10 weeks in June can never have a due date in November 2017.
This is not a pregnancy police anything....

The house was given information, how do you want help with that kind of info...

The people that like your statement may not know the story which a few persons commented on the hard to believe story....

No matter the years a woman has tried to conceive, or the irregular periods she has had, she cannot be 10 weeks in June and due to deliver in November...

That's the thing.
We really Thank God that she has taken in & congratulate the family but the info you gave is hard to work with.

Did any real tangible advice on what to tell the visa officer or POE, come out for your story

No.
So please

I have someone that was 11 weeks before the month of June even started and the due date is later than November 2017.

So please....even if you did a scan, they will tell you how many weeks your baby was then irrespective of prior irregular periods...

10 weeks in June just does not add up to deliver in November...unless they are multiples but they will not tell you November still...they let multiples stay inside as long as possible.

If baby is due 30th November(EDD is just EDD), conception happened around 9th March, give or take so ,if interview day was 1st June, pregnancy was 12 weeks, give or take a week. Just saying. Before you start calling someone a liar without any evidence

Im not sure it's true...March conceptions should not have an EDD of November, even 30th.

Thank you

Good day. Pls I need your advice on my issue. Had a successful interview in June and after that we realized wife was 10 weeks pregnant. (we were not sure because of some pills she used which the doctor said could affect her monthly period. This is our first issue after 5 years of coming together). The issue now is that the visa is tourist visa and no question about pregnancy was asked during interview. We have the plan of giving birth in US and how due date is November. How do you think we can go about it to avoid being turned back. Also, we plan to stay in an hotel in Houston. Please your candid advise would be appreciated.

Choi!
Which kind lie be this??
10 weeks in June, due date November??

This is quite annoying,if you are a parent or about to be a father or a mother & u lie like this, to the embassy and then to us on this platform...what does the future hold for home trainings & the country

Still not a good idea because of the risks involved and you will struggle to get your visa renewed or even get a visa if the VO knew that you will be using birthing center.

Easy dear,
1stly, let's start with a congratulations... we are not robots here.
A child has been born, mother's life safe.,child's life was safe as well.
Carrying a child for so long & finally birthing is not a light task, so let's be a little bit more sensitive.
It's not that easy to just decide to go under the blade just like that....okay dear men in the house.

Her case is different.

Now how about when she returns to the country or even from the U.S, she orally, physically and in writing informs the embassy of what actually happened & she does so on time, early enough before het visa expires.
Letting them know how things were beyond her control...?

Thank you.

One again, this part of my post musta flown right past your head

Seriously, you need to calm down! You are shooting from the hip here with your emotional outbursts.

You can't bank on the fact that because something offends your moral senses a great deal, it will surely do the same to other people. To you, the biological father's suggestion of abortion should totally discount him the running but can you guarantee other people will see it the way you do? NO!! Which is why it makes better sense to fight with established laws.

Jeez! Abeg, if you are a lawyer, I am begging you to please go learn how to put sentiment aside and approach things in a more logical manner. You also need to understand that going into court with an win all or nothing mentality is a sure fire to lose more. Life isn't black or white, people don't always suffer the consequences of their actions while others get splattered with consequences shite for something they had no hand in.

In life concessions are made and sometimes the only option available to you as a lawyer is not winning but making your clients loss less than what it could have been and the only way to do that is to check your emotions at the door!!

I'm done with you jare, argue with Coogar. . .he is better at dealing with emotions than I am.

I'm glad you gave up.
you should know that sentiments and emotions as long as they don't break the law are valuable in any case.
that your non-sentimental does not mean you are lawful.
The pressure to abort a child on a woman is nothing you will ever understand...and the abandonment that follows...

But since it's not your case, all you are saying is theories, you would never be able to conclude on what is a plus or not.

i don't disagree some men might have lost the custody of their kids to another man - there are 2 kinds of people in the world - the wise ones and the foolish ones. sadly, that's the world will live in. however, i cannot see how a well to do man who is financially buoyant to take care of his child would be denied access to his own child just because he was a philandering teenage boy who was immature to deal with paternity........

are we talking about the same patriarchal nigeria? the same nigerian where the successful child is the father's and the wayward irresponsible child belongs to the mother? i think some of you posters are getting carried away with the western culture...i won't even take custody of another man's child no matter how bad the woman tries to paint the father of the child! you can only take the wife of a lazy man - you cannot take his kid!

abeg go n siddon with your karl marx philosophy!
other islamic countries operate a patriarchal society and they are doing very well - if you think our custom is the reason the politicians are looting then you need to go back to school! our development or lack of it has nothing to do with the custom!

People of intelligence, dont waste your time responding to such person, just ignore, share & spread what ought to be,what is & how we can best enforce what ought to be.

Looks like a lie.but if its the truth then here is my comment.there is no law even in Europe and Nigeria..the owner of the baby is the man and not you too.so now,he sent you away because he doesn't have money to take care of you and the kid.in future maybe 2 years time, when he gets money,he come back and tell you that he wants to take his child back.then you will say no,he will take you to court.then the judge will tell you that the baby belongs to the man and not you.but you are the mother.in other words, the judge will say, that you should list all the whole expenses you made for the kid in cash.if you say 50million.it left for you.now the judge will tell the man to pay you 50million.when he pays you, then you hand over the kid to him.but that doesnt mean that you will not see her when she grows up or that she cant visit you.after all youre the mother.i rest my case

Lie Lie...
Don't listen to this person please.
The child is yours as a mother as long as hw didn't marry you...okay...
But if you want money from the father, both of you will have joint custody.

Good people of NL
My DW flew Qatar Airways at 34w4d and arrived Atlanta yesterday. The journey was long. The layover was about 9 hours and Qatar pulled an unfortunately ugly card. We had arranged their complimentary hotel from Lagos (they call it STPC, I have no idea what it means) and on the morning of the flight, we got the printed voucher. Only for her to get to Doha and they told her there was no more space in the hotel. She had to wait at the airport all through the night, not minding that she is a pregnant woman o. It was in the morning she was told to go sit at the Priority area. She said they gave them food though.
Fast forward to ATL, no fireworks. The CBP just asked her what she was there for and she told them to have her baby. Dazol! The man then told her to always carry her receipts. Not one document asked.
I will update the house when the rest of the missionary journey is complete.

Congratulations Ayokunle07
The rest of the journey will be smooth & very much okay...
Sorry for that stress on your wife, but all willbe better.

Update us.

Hello everyone, so I gave birth to my cute little princess upper Wednesday (July 5) , thanks to people that have been sending their wishes. And I'm so sorry that I've not been replying mails, esp naija greatest and naija summary. Will reply asap. So far, B.C and SSN have been gotten, waiting for the notarized form from Naija to apply for her U.S passport. However, naija consulate in Atlanta seems to be having some kinda issue at the moment , which is making application for her naija passport impossible for now, I'm still waiting for them tho but if by first week in August it's d same, will have to do visa-on-arrival. Although, I don't know how that works or how long it takes, hoping someone will enlighten me. Thank you all and by the way, I used Piedmont Atlanta, awesome hospital.

Congratulations Dgurl,

I still have a little more time before I go to Atl by God's Grace.

I will look that hospital up. How were their charges?

What's going on at the Nigerian Embassy? Is it data page avalability issues?
Someone posted some time either July 4th or 5th to send a mail to oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng to apply for your child Nigerian passport was that what you did?
Well if it still doesn't work then it's best to go for visa on arrival as you said.

Rest easy dear.
It will all work out.

Do you know how many children are walking the streets in Nigeria without an education??

Do you know if they got themselves thrown out of school because of their bad behavior??

Is it the woman's salary that you are looking at?
Or the manthat is supposed to take care of his children.
If she pays all the bills, house rent, feeding....
Maybe she is trying to give the husband a wake up call...that the children are suffering because he is not contributing.

So in case you don't have personal beef against these peoplebe ready to see lots of children like these every where in the country and be ready to help.
