bLacK GoLd:I quite agree with you on both. Infact the first Programme Management Professional (PgMP) in Nigeria works with ALU. He also got his second degree too. I also heard that the chinese in HWE hide conceal some stuffs from Nigerians through their language. Honestly I think Bro Salihu is right because it actually depends on what I want and what drives me. HWE is a company that exalts work way above welfare while ALU puts the two at par, atleast. Interoperability (being versatile) is also a concern here. I really want to have a full dose of most (if not all) departments (excluding admin). And travelling all over the place wont help. What if one starts out with HWE and later move to ALU, is it ok? Passing through ''hell'' to get to ''heaven''. If you know what I mean, just like the guy did as stated in my previous post. |
Inspiring! Also been thinking in that line - bold steps. |
Seek Ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and ALL OTHER THINGS shall be added unto you Matt 6:33. My God shall supply ALL YOUR NEEDS according to HIS RICHES IN GLORY through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:13. IMHO, I think what God wants us for us is spiritual prosperity. Then He would supply all our needs. He determines how much is going to be added unto us. But christians must not be complacent. |
Great thread! I'm impressed. Guess I'll be checking this section forthwith. |
Corpashun and beer- 5 and 6. Thank God he's still alive. |
salihu_ali:I'm not really after the money. I want a place where self-actualization (up-to-date skills and experience) is fostered. Talking about freshers, HWE recruit freshers to work as Transmission Engineers after a thorough interview. ALU also recruit freshers but its all about the link. A friends friend left HWE for ALU recently and I was wondering what would spur him to make such a decision. I cant track him for now sha. I just wanna know where is better before I leap. Thanks so much for the advice. **dont mind ALL my typo errors** I'm not really comfortable with phones** |
^^At long last! This might stir-up comments from our CBN fellas. |
Huawei or Alcatel-lucent, house please where would you advice a fresh graduate to work? And why? |
afrobaby:''For a friend'' is makes it a little vague. Maybe if you can give the house some info about him/her. |
sparko1:Can any OAU student help him out with a VALID INFORMATION? |
LA Times- Nokia is cutting 4,000 jobs and will end its manufacturing in Hungary, Mexico and its home nation of Finland as it moves its phone making to Asia, the company announced Wednesday. The Salo, Finland, factory, which is Nokia's oldest manufacturing plant, along with the affected facilities in Komarom, Hungary, and Reynosa, Mexico, won't be shut down entirely, Nokia said. Instead, the "three factories are planned to focus on smartphone customization, serving customers mainly in Europe and the Americas," Nokia said in a statement. "Device assembly is expected to be transferred to Nokia factories in Asia, where the majority of component suppliers are based." Many of Nokia's competitors, such as Apple, HTC and Samsung, have the majority of their manufacturing in Asia and the region is also where the company's largest customer base is located. "Shifting device assembly to Asia is targeted at improving our time to market," said Niklas Savander, Nokia's executive vice president of markets. "By working more closely with our suppliers, we believe that we will be able to introduce innovations into the market more quickly and ultimately be more competitive." The job cuts are the latest for Nokia, which has had about 10,500 layoffs since the company decided to move its phones over to Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system and away from the Nokia-built Symbian software which at one time was the world's most popular smartphone operating system. Phones running Google's Android operating system have eaten into Nokia's once-dominant position in smartphones, and along with the signing of Nokia's multibillion-dollar deal with Microsoft, Nokia has been undergoing a review of its operations since September that aims to return the company to the competitiveness it once had. Nokia's first Windows Phone handsets were introduced to consumers in the last quarter of 2011 and so far, the company has sold more than 1 million of the new smartphones worldwide. The Finnish company also reported a $1.38 billion loss in the fourth quarter of 2011. Link: http://lat.ms/xEBG16 |

^^^ The Bible is inarguably the best! Havent you read anyother book that enhanced your faith? |

Hi All, The bible is definitely the most influential book in the world. But somany other books must have aided our spiritual growth and expanded our knowledge but is there a particular book we treasure somuch because it had a profound effect in our spiritual lives? Lets share here. For me, The Pursuit of God by A. W Tozer. |
^ Lol. The students (lazy) I know will solve thier questions with this tool. Infact objective questions just got easier. ![]() Frawzey |
^ I checked the site now and was stunned at its simplicity. Lazy students just got another quick-fix tool. |
I have a 2008 Sidekick LX which I bought about three years ago but all efforts to unlock the phone has been fruitless. The screen also has a crack. Its a t-moble phone. Can anyone help ''revive'' this phone? |
Oh! so most nigerians can speak their native languages fluently? I dont think so. Most people add English to it and youths cant say a proverb in their mother-tongue. Some parents dont even allow their children to speak in native languages. In schools, English is a compulsory subject but not Yoruba or Hausa or Igbo. Lets not go to writing at all. In a lighter mood, whats Chameleon in your native language? |
*passing by* I wonder why nobody wants to improve in writing and speaking our mother-tougue. I mean taking a cue from China, Japan, Russia, India, France, Poland, Norway, Netherland, Germany, Iceland and so on. @OP, if you can lay your hands on ''How to talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere'' by Larry King, you are good to go. Merci. |
^ I beleive we have already subsidized everything for the government. Infact, we have helped the government alot. But while at that, we must not forget about our own satisfaction/happiness with or without the government. |
@ Ajanlekoko why do nigerians buy generators and construct alternative water supply? These are basic amenities! Can you imagine, water- omi! Na wa o. The government that cant provide water will give good education abi. I retweet yamakuza last line jare. |
Yamakuza answered the question. Self development. Either soft skills or otherwise, it depends on the person. You have got to develop yourself. With the way the world is evolving, a young grad cant fold his arms and start capitalising on ''faulty education'' as a reason for lack of skills. Anyone can acquire any skill. It depends on how determined and curious he/she is. A mechanical engineering grad/civil engineer or an architect can always acquire skills anyhow, a electrical electronics grad can always walk-up to different stations to become a volunteer staff. IT graduands can choose where they wanna specialise and develop their skills verywell. Infact only networking requires hands-on experience as all others could be done in a room without a tutor. Having said that, I earned my B.Sc Oct 2010 and through-out my stay at school I never heard of ''router'' nor how communication networks works. But I wanted to build a career in networking. So my quest made me enrol in a telecom training schoo(although I'm rounding up my NYSC this month) l where I'm learning alot. Now, I can configure a router, an access point, setup a simple VoIP, use active directory, implement with Ericssons OMT and lots more. Although these skills are foundational skills but I have added something to my catalogue of ''DIY''. I think it depends mainly on the individual. Thats why I respect the Indians. They would sit in a room for 14hours writing codes. Infact most of the software enginneers that work with Facebook are Indians. We can not shy away from acquiring skills. By the way, how did Ajanlekoko acquire his skills, if I may ask? Shebi you schooled in naija and you were under the same crop of lecturers, how then did you acquire the skills you have? Quoting mycvclinic, she said ''there are very many skilled individuals in this country who have gone against all odds''. The fact that we are products of the acada in naija is enough odd to stand against. Talkless of, Mycvclinic, keep the fire blazing! *Yamakuza I added u on Y!* Much respect to Yamakuza, Ajanlekoko and Dr Mycvclinic. Merci. |
I have noticed that this section house quite a number of people who dont beleive in the existence of God. They call us fools for paying our tithes, they accuse popular men of God, they blaspheme God in their own ''intelligence'', they trust what scientist say and depise prophecies. I also notice that christians have stood thier grounds. I think arguements wont help that much. I know God loves them, anyway. Therefore, we christians must pray and plead to God for the change of hearts for these individuals. The Bible says that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I beleive that if we can add this prayer to our daily prayers, we testimonies will follow. Merci! |
@all. Statements/actions by men of God stirs up interests all the time. Well, I'm so happy that ''all things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner, '' Eccl 9:2. Therefore shall all DIE and we would know if really its pays to serve God and beleive in His prophets. 2 chronicles 20:20b. |
