PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Borrow 7.9 Billion Dollars. Okonjo-Iweala Approves. by ayox2003: 8:03am On May 18, 2012
Wait, lets not blame Iweala jare. Its GEJ that wants to borrow the money not Iweala.
Wasnt she the one who cleared our debts under OBJs administration?
Its GEJ that is clueless! GEJ wants to run this country dry.
Maxim: OBJ brought in Iweala to clear our debts while GEJ brought in Iweala to incur more debts... And she must obey orders.

Lovely article you got there.
As a young engineer in the field of telecoms, I've got some problems that requires programming skills, what programming language would you recommended that I learn? Plus, I would love to do some programming during my "free-time".
Thanks.

2mch: You Arrow, are u afraid of being taken to court? What you and your fellow doctors did is criminal. You took a hippocratic oath and broke it. You should be sued for billions. Ole people.
hahaha
what of ur govs and presidents who swore to provide adequate welfare and security to all Nigerians. Didnt they swear? And do you know the number of people who die everyday because they cant keep their words.
Mind you I'm not a Doctor. But have you read the Hippocraric oath at allhuh I dont think you have.
Sir, think very very well before you post anything here. I mean very well.
HealthRe: Sacked Lagos State Doctors Head To Court by ayox2003: 12:35pm On May 16, 2012
2mch: All the people who lost family member better sue all the doctors for billions. Am sure they have the money from their little clinics on the side. These people have been playing with people's lives. If they like let them go and find work somewhere else na. Why are they fighting to get a job back where they didn't care about the patients. They know any future employer will not hire a troublemaker if they are sacked under these conditions. Except they open a clinic, getting a job under these conditions is almost impossible. LASG should let them sign a contract that they cannot run clinics while they are on employment with the state. Because they tend not to have any loyalty to their work.
And how much should Nigerians sue the government that cannot fix roads that caused deaths of their loved ones? How much should Nigerians sue the govt for those that have died due to insecurity in this nation? How much should Nigerians sue the govt for those who have been killed during elections? And how much should Nigerians sue a govt that cannot provide water? How much should Nigerians sue a govt that spends outside the budget? Calculate how much Nigerians have spent to provide water and electricity alone. Talkless of sandfilling potholes, vigilante charges, mai guard, replacement of tires and car spare parts due to bad roads.
Mumu.
Nigerians just dont know their rights. No wonder one politician said most senators and political office holders are paid "Nigerians ignorance allowance", monthly.
HealthRe: Sacked Lagos State Doctors Head To Court by ayox2003: 12:09pm On May 16, 2012
Whats the fuse about striking Doctors? Doctor strike everywhere in the world. Even in the west where life and working condition is better. Some NLers are not sane at all. Your governor is the first gonernor in the whole world to sack striking Doctors and some folks are hailing him here. Has he replaced them? People are dying! Plus he doesnt even receive treatments in those hospitals. So the Doctors are asking too much right? 31million additional payment for 1000 people every MONTH is too much, right? Thats less than 1.6% of what he spent on Tinubus birthday for a WEEK! So 200K is too much for a fresh Doc right? Una be mumu. No wonder Nigeria is always backward!
Example of people who voted for GEJ and not PDP.
Go to Marina general hospital and see how Lagosians are suffering.

CareerRe: Let's Discuss Salaries by ayox2003: 10:45am On May 16, 2012
AjanleKoko: Bros, O&G pays the best. Those instances you mentioned are one-off. For example, I work in telecoms. Some people get salaries close to $1m a year, but the lowest paid employees earn less than 100k a month.
What's the entry level in JB or any other architectural firm? Compare that to any of the O&G upstream companies, and you will drop this argument.
As in 150,000,000 naira. Na wa o.

deenee: I think it is misleading to assume that O and G pays the most. There are disimilarities in various sectors thus a balanced comparison will be quite hard to achieve. I have followed with keen interest discussions about this on another thread but refrained from active participation. I know architects that have been paid 150million for certain projects and project managers with JB that earn 30-40million P.A for a structured tenure. We don't get to hear about this everyday so the tendency is to believe otherwise. No doubt, O and G are top of the echelon in this aspect but the best paying? Well this a debate that will occur in a continuum.

Additionally, the remuneration for the PE sector quoted is just base salary alone. There is also the performance incentive which is what I would term an 'off balance sheet item' and is largely determined by the transaction capacity of the firm. The highest that has been paid out in this regard is three quarters of a billion naira (circa) for a LBO/MBO deal involving a major telco. This is of course a one off transaction. Hence, it is not strange to see PE analysts earning twice what their contemporaries earn in total package as performance incentive alone. Whilst IMs earn three or four times that amount as transaction incentive alone. We don't get to hear of this because most of these firms are closely knit privately held partnerships.

Finally I want to opine that building a career around an endeavor that we have passion for is perhaps the best way to ensure financial security in the future. After all, stories are abound of O and G employees that have gone bankrupt despite the fat pay checks they receive. If you are in doubt ask Mark Z CEO of facebook and other tech billionaires and closer home Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, Mike Adenuga, Hakeem B Osagie just to mention a few. All the best!
Seconded.I agree because the word "Perhaps" was included in that sentence. Not everyone will succeed at doing what they are passionate about.
Only God can guarantee financial security.

HealthRe: Normalcy Returns As New Lagos Doctors Resume by ayox2003: 11:46am On May 11, 2012
allycat: Oh and for those asking what will happen if the new doctors go on strike ? The answer is foreign docs whom they will pay higher salaries and them justify privatising the health sector. Already they have started The BT diagnostic lab( BT stands for Bola Tinubu) inside LASUTH is a 'state of the art' laboratory/ diagnostic centre in the hospital. The prices for investigations there more than double those in the hospital labs. The staff of the centre are paid almost double what other staff in the hospital are paid. And while that place thrives, the hospitals labs and Xrays department have been left to rot.
From January this year the theatre in LASUTH has had problems with electricity so surgeries have been cancelled or postponed and most surgeons there were frustrated. Not so for the CCU, a private ward with it's own theatre and ICU run by a certain Dr Tinubu. If you have the cash you can get any surgery done there for a minimum of about 300k. Presnsently while the rest of the hospital is groaning under the lack of bed space they are building a 3 storey structure for CCU. This is where government officials are usually admitted when they have problems before being flown out of the country.
That will be the fate of LAGOS state health services.
since the beginning of this saga, u've always been very objective with facts to prove your point. I respect you as a Doctor. God bless you.
Now I see...No wonder 2billion was spent on Tinubus birthday.

stagger: You are indeed very st/upid. Where will you recruit the lecturers from? DO you know how many years it takes to train a lecturer? It takes 6 years to train a doctor in the university, but at least 10 years to get a lecturer who will commence work at the lowest lecturing cadre.

There are too many people thinking with their b/utt holes on Nairaland, and you are apparently one of them. What of the senators who are collecting N42million every quarter in allowances? Who are the people who are taking all the money in this country?

Sh/ut the hell up!
Lukkie just answered them.
lukkie: Most Nigerians are empty heads who don't know their rights, esp the young people. Fashola is turning into an EMPEROR and you're sheepishly hailing him. O ma se o!
We cant protest against political office holders who receive treatment outside the shores of this country. Its Doctors that you begin to blame.
Govt irresponsibility has a ripple effect on the people. Always the people! Ask the sacked bankers (despite the fact that they are in the private sector). Do we even know what democracy is all about? A Doctor will always get a job and he will treat members of his family when the need arises. But those Nigerians who just want to leave that sick-bed in good health will suffer (and have been suffering).
Time will tell.
HealthRe: Normalcy Returns As New Lagos Doctors Resume by ayox2003: 10:03am On May 11, 2012
ballabriggs: No wonder Politicians would build roads and tell these people "they are working". Do you people really know what your priorities are? If a government cannot develop health which includes its workforce then that government is a failed government. I have never heard Mr Cameron gloat over building or renovating roads, yet there is work going on from the M1 to 25. You hear them talk of the NHS, reducing unemployment or national security. Fashola must be told in clear terms to do what is right, I had been a fan of him but on this case, he is not getting it.
Same here.
He can never try that with lawyers!
Fashola is taking care of his lawyers and his Jugdes, Mimiko is taking good care of his Doctors and health workerS.

Whenever I ask people what the greatest problem Nigeria is, they are always yelling "Bad leadership, corruption....".
Its not any of those, Nigerians are the greatest problem of this country! This thread is just another affirmation.
Wait, has there been any strike or protest from government workers/masses that has been for selfish reasons?
Its always been the govt's insincerity! Dont worry, the army will soon protest.
Take it or leave it we are our greatest problem.
HealthRe: Normalcy Returns As New Lagos Doctors Resume by ayox2003: 9:04am On May 11, 2012
Whats normalcy in this situation?
You sacked 788 and replaced them with 373....is this normalcy/normalhuh??
Is it because he and his children doesnt receive medical attention in any of these hospitals?? 788-373= 405. So how would 373 fill the space of 788? Even 373 x 2 = 746...thats if its in ratio 1:2.
Fashola is crazy!
And some NLers are speaking trash here. Fashola didnt implement the agreement and your saying s:h:i:t. Well, the people will ALWAYS suffer and God knows the number of the same NLers in those hospitals rightnow. Not the Doctors; Not Fashola.
For The Nation newspaper, no wonder their workers are always man-handled. Normalcy my foot.
