The History Channel reminds us how the New York-based Bad Boy Entertainment and Los Angeles-based Death Row Records got better publicity than they ever could have purchased as a result of the feud that broke out between the two companies in the mid-1990s. Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, the artists associated with the two hip-hop record labels traded taunts and insults on their records and onstage, the hip-hop press covered every twist and turn, and soon the mainstream media were breathlessly declaring a so-called “bi-coastal rap war.” The rivalry was incredibly good for business. It propelled Sean “Puffy” Combs’s Bad Boy Entertainment and Marion “Suge” Knight’s Death Row Records into the spotlight, selling millions upon millions of both labels’ records in the process. But the “East Coast vs. West Coast” beef also took the lives of two of hip-hop’s biggest stars: Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. “The Notorious B.I.G.” After dominating the hip-hop industry during years of record growth in the mid-1990s, that feud finally came to an end with the shooting death of Wallace on a crowded Los Angeles street on March 9, 1997. Christopher Wallace (Notorious B.I.G.) was a Brooklyn-based rapper whose 1994 album, Ready to Die, was largely responsible for making Bad Boy Records a success. On the night he was killed, Wallace was riding in the passenger seat of a GMC Suburban when a Toyota Land Cruiser pulled up alongside him at corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. The driver of the Land Cruiser opened fire on Wallace, fatally wounding him before speeding away. Dozens of eyewitness accounts allowed the Los Angeles Police Department to develop a detailed reconstruction of the shooting and a composite sketch of the gunman, but Wallace’s murder remains unsolved more than a decade later. It was widely speculated that Wallace’s killing was in some way related to the similar killing of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas some seven months earlier in similar physical circumstances. While no evidence has ever come to light of Wallace’s involvement in Shakur’s death, Shakur had publicly accused Wallace of involvement in a 1994 attempt on his life—an accusation that greatly escalated the East Coast-West Coast feud and made Wallace and Shakur into its most prominent participants. In the months following Christopher Wallace’s death, the East Coast-West Coast feud may have faded away, but fan interest in its participants has not. Wallace’s second and most successful studio album, Life After Death, was released less than three weeks after he died, and “new” material by both Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. continues to be released posthumously more than 10 years after both artists’ passing. A movie has been shot about the musician and there are ongoing talks of a movie starring Johnny Depp. Today makes it twenty years since the self proclaimed ‘King of New York’ was murdered. http://www.jalupon.com/20-years-after-looking-back-at-the-notorious-b-i-g/

A French Presidential hopeful Cindy Lee, 52, who is the representative of Pleasure Party, may not be sure to collect the 500 signatures needed to enter the race at the Elysee alongside Marine Le Pen, François Fillon or even Emmanuel Macron. On Tuesday, March 7, the representative of the Pleasure Party made a “sexy” happening in front of the National Assembly’s offices to make its proposals heard. In order to demand more transparency in political life, and to denounce the corruption of elected officials, the former stripper handed out her program in a tiny bit to passing motorists and parliamentarians, including Bruno Gollnisch ( Far-right politician and member of the European Parliament). “Let yourself be tempted by transparency!” She suggested to the candidate who fortunately did not win. “I’m not here to criticize other candidates,” she told LCI about the survey favorites.”I advocate for the well-being of the individual in society, putting man at the center of politics”, insisted that the program foresees the creation of a European rating agency taking into account the societal and The establishment of a VI Republic with a collegiate presidency, and the taxation of financial speculation to finance projects designed to make citizens more fulfilled in their sex lives. Cindy Lee’s transparency operation ran short after about fifteen minutes. After attempting to enter the Assembly’s offices, she was arrested by some thirty security personnel, some of whom took her for a Feminist activist, as can be seen in the images shot by “La Mediasphere”. Not discouraged, the “candidate of pleasure” hears whatever happens to prolong her fight until the next legislative. In 2012, she won 0.51% of the vote in the 7th district of Paris. That is 224 votes. More photos: http://www.jalupon.com/shocker-french-presidential-hopeful-strips-naked-infront-of-parliament/

It is said that the age of logical reasoning begins from the age seven, but Daliyah Marie Arana seems to be defying the age-long scientific hypothesis and displaying rare abilities at her tender age. The 4-year old girl from Gainesville, Georgia, became hooked on reading after she started recognising words at just 18 months old. Since then, it is estimated that the kindergartener has read over 1,000 books. She now enjoys books written for university students and only needs help if she gets stuck on a ‘big’ word, her parents said. Her mother Haleema told the Times of Gainesville newspaper that she and her husband Miguel started reading to Daliyah ‘right when she was born’. Their daughter would also hear them reading stories to their two other children, she said. ‘We would literally read every day, about 15 to 20 minutes a day,’ Mrs Arana said. ‘By the time she was 18, 19 months, we realized she could recognize a lot of the words. And we kind of took it from there.’ By the time she turned three, Daliyah was reading books on her own. The little girl signed up to the Georgia 1,000 Books B4 Kindergarten Program – but ticked all the books off her list before preschool. She hopes to have read 1,500 by the time she starts kindergarten this autumn. Mr and Mrs Haleema wrote to Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden about their daughter’s achievement and Ms Hayden was so impressed she invited Daliyah for a tour last week and to serve as ‘Librarian for the Day’. Photographs show the preschooler walking through the halls of the impressive building and sitting at one of the large desks. Daliyah hopes to become a librarian herself one day and wants to encourage other children to read. http://www.jalupon.com/incredible-see-4-year-old-girl-who-has-already-read-1000-books/ cc: Lalasticlala

Marriage, they say, is a sacred institution. Whenever a marriage occurs, it is expected to be a joyful celebration for the couple, their families, and friends. For the newly married couple, marriage is considered the apex of their love affair and the commencement of a new life together, as they have promised to be committed to each other in their marriage vows. Life for a newly-wedded couple comes with a lot of uncertainty. For two different people who had lived different lives prior to their meeting, settling down together as husband and wife could be challenging at the early stages, especially as both parties, living as separate individuals prior to their marriage, have certain preferences and distastes for particular things which might seem them be on the opposite side of the divide. However, what is remarkable in Nigeria today is that despite the high level of awareness amongst our entertainers today about the huge demands of marriage, we still painfully and shockingly hear of bitter marriage separations and dirty fights, washing their dirty linen in public and pushing out matters that should primarily be private, into the public glare. In recent times, the media space has been filled with stories of marriage and courtship separations from Muma Gee and Prince Eke to Tonto Dikeh, amongst a lengthy host of others. So, why do marriages of our beloved entertainers, who serve as role models for the public, crash amid the pomp and pageantry associated with their nuptials and relationships? There are many reasons that can be alluded to this, but given the inside scoops garnered from crashed marriages of some entertainers, certain factors can be said to be recurring decimals. Marriage infidelity is considered to be the most prominent reason among the host of reasons that lead to failed marriages among entertainers. Artistes, just like every other human being, are fallible to being promiscuous under the guise of not being satisfied. Closely related to above-mentioned reason is the nature of their work. Entertainers get exposed to virtually anything and everything in their raw form, and could therefore at certain periods, lose their self-control and indulge in things that ordinarily they would want to avoid. Another reason is ego. For most entertainers, having risen through the society’s social ladder, as well as gaining an increase in their financial status, a certain air of pompousness seems to suddenly override them, taking reckless decisions, embarking on weird activities, or failing to fulfil their responsibilities at home without actual consideration for their spouse. Lastly, is the issue of privacy. Most entertainers, as explained above, are exposed to different things during the course of their work. That includes embracing a large number of fans from the opposite sex. For the spouse of such celebrity, especially if the spouse is a non-celebrity (even for a star couple marriage, such problem does arise), insinuations begin to slowly crip in and there is the demand from the affected spouse about privacy, understanding his/her job and the demand for space. Such arguments have led to marriages splitting away faster than the river Jordan. So, how can the marriages of our entertainers get applause for its longevity and commitment and not them and we, fans, mourning that their marriage has rocked the boat? It’s only the principles of understanding, fidelity, perseverance, cooperation, toleration, and friendship that can ensure their marriage becomes a glowing success. If they need more advice, let them approach the veterans of Nollywood and marriage, Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva, and seek their guidance. http://www.jalupon.com/why-are-failed-marriages-rampant-among-todays-nigerian-entertainers/ cc: Lalasticlala

A couple has been sentenced to death by a court in Kuwait on Monday, after finding them guilty of torturing their three-year-old daughter until she died, it said in a statement. The parents, Salem Buhan, 26, who was the girl’s father, and mother, 23-year-old Amira Hussein, were both charged with murder after police found burn marks on the shoulders and legs of the toddler’s body, according to the country’s interior ministry. The couple, who are both Kuwaitis, were arrested in May and accused of beating and brutalising the girl until she died. They were also alleged to have kept her body in a freezer for a week after the incident. The court statement only gave the verdict, but, according to media reports, the couple claimed that they had been annoyed by their daughter’s constant crying. The interior ministry also added in their statement that both parents were drug addicts. However, the verdict is not final as the accused have the chance to seek for a repeal at the appeals and supreme courts. Executions in Kuwait are carried out by hanging. Barring the execution of five men in mid-2013, the Gulf emirate has stopped executing people since 2007, although dozens of men and women are on death row. http://www.jalupon.com/kuwaiti-court-sentences-parents-to-death-over-daughters-murder/

There are several elements that make up the essentials of the movie industry. However, out of all these elements too numerous to list out, two are very critical to achieve a crispy production: creativity and organisation. Creativity, as it has always been emphasised, is the currency of the art world. Without the expression of ingenuity in any work of art, especially in a movie production, such a work would be deemed meaningless because movies, noted as make-believe shows, are expected to transmit a message which would have a heartfelt impact on its audience. And transmitting such message would have to be done in a manner that is imaginative, believable and entertaining enough, to bring in some level of reality. Similarly, have a good organisational process is also very important in achieving an excellent movie production. As we have seen in today’s world, while having the talent and being creative is quite important, it is not an end in itself. If is no clear structure which will guarantee critical features such as order, hierarchy, and responsibilities among the cast and crew on set, amongst other things are not in place, then such a production, despite the creative geniuses surrounding it, would be a futile effort. There are very few individuals in the Nigerian movie industry who personifies the elements mentioned above like Saidi Balogun. A very talented actor, Balogun began acting professionally in 1978 and featured in several movies in the Nigerian movie industry. Although clearly more renowned for appearances in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood, he has also acted in a number of movies in the English genre of Nollywood. A versatile actor, Balogun is loved across the movie spectrum for his witty and creative interpretation of roles and scripts. For a person who never did anything close to theatre arts in a higher institution or went to any acting school, Balogun’s dexterity is not only surprising but very impressive. On how he got into the acting profession, he said; “Right from the day I was born. My father used to do comedy and the same blood flows in my veins. I decided to make mine commercial by showing it to the world. I did not want to do it the way my father did his by sitting down and making the whole community laugh, I decided to make mine international as well.” Buoyed by his charming looks, Balogun is always courted by producers and directors in the Yoruba film industry to feature in their movies. His staying power in the industry is quite remarkable, given how long he has maintained his grip in the industry. It is such dominance alongside his hilarious acting skills that has earned him nicknames such as “Walata”, “Omo Alhaja”, and “James Bond.” A respected veteran in Nollywood, the 49-year old actor has also shown another nifty side of him by diversifying into movie production and directing. Balogun, who is President of The Golden Movies Ambassadors, has produced and directed a number of landmark movies acclaimed as innovative. His first movie production was in 1989 with the movie titled “City Girl.” What is surprising is that he ventured into production just 11 years into his movie career and also did it at a time where actors in Nigeria, especially the young ones, were just content being actors and did not fantasise about going into movie production. Balogun, who has produced over 20 movies, has been hailed as a revolutionary in Nollywood, because of the quality of his films. Some of his movies scored a first not only in Nollywood but also in the African film industry. Among the list of his lengthy achievement includes the production of the first two-cast movie in Africa titled “Modupe Temi”, and the production of Africa’s first ever three-cast movie titled “Gbogbo Ere”. He also produced “Third Party”, the first ever ankara movie in Africa. These are indeed laudable achievements considering the complexity, technicality and extensive logistic required to bring these productions alive. Indeed, we celebrate the outstanding quality of a large cast and budget movie of foreign movies and ridiculously scandalise our own Nollywood movies, Balogun’s exploits with his history-making movies has shown that Nollywood can still produce wonderful films that can stand the test of time in terms of quality, technicality, and screenplay in comparison with same budget productions outside of the African continent. Speaking on the inspiration for his unique movies scripts, Balogun said he is driven by the need to create art, spectacle, protest, stimuli, conversation, amusement and commerce. “My view of film is that a great film is both entertainment and art. The art in movies speaks to the human experience and it should do this in an entertaining way. These days, I produce movies not because I want to be known, but to nurture, teach and educate people on how to live peacefully in their marriage, in their place of work and as it applies to their day to day activities. We producers adapt three approaches to it. We tell the past, deal with the present and shape the future.” Emphasising more on how he produces his movies, Balogun talked about the importance of research saying; “I like research and that has reflected in most of my movies. I am the first actor in Africa who has produced a two-cast movie and the first to do a film where every actor and actress wore Ankara in West Africa. I also did a movie where I was the only black man, and also the first to do a three-cast movie. All these put together is a result of rigorous research.” Read more at:http://www.jalupon.com/saidi-balogun-visionary-filmmaker-and-thespian/

Millions of men hook-up on pay-as-you-go basis with girls of their dreams thanks to social media and its many expressions that include Badoo and Facebook. So it was easy for Falope Oluwole Israel, a 22-year old, journalism undergraduate at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) to prey on Hot men by pretending to be a sex goddess for two years. Falope, who had made millions of Naira from his Instagram based scam, was arrested at a popular club in Ikeja City Mall, by men of the Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command. His activities on Instagram was placed under investigations when the Police received a complaint about an Instagram handle @blackberbiedoll, used for criminal activities. Apart from @blackberbiedoll, which he prominently used for fraudulent activities, he maintained @froshwhite007 and @froshwhite separately for same purpose. The complainant, Bernard stated that he got a friend request from @blackberbiedoll. “Apparently, the picture on the account was that of a lady. The lady in question messaged me on BBM. Honestly, I thought I was chatting with a woman who claimed to be in Nigeria at the time. “She lied to me that her father was a Nigerian and her mum, a Kenyan, and so we got talking. At a point, she lied that she was building a beauty outfit in Ikota Shopping Mall, VGC and that she was in need of some money to complete the mall,” Bernard added. He explained further, “I had to transfer N1 million to her. Weeks later, I got suspicious of the account name Olawole Israel Oluwaseun Falope. I ran a search on Google, and then discovered it was all scam…. Immediately, I reported the incident to Instagram and that account was blocked and later suspended to prevent others from falling victim.” Another victim, who did not want his identity disclosed said he paid N100,000 into her account to support her bogus fashion outfit. Admitting the allegation, the suspect noted that since he started the fraudulent act about 2 years ago, he had duped no fewer than 33 men pretending to be a lady on Instagram and that the least amount he received from any of them was N80,000. “When I started, much as I pretended to be a lady on phone, some men on the other side didn’t believe me. I then downloaded an app on Google which transformed my voice into that of a lady whenever I am having conversation…. I got several pictures of Shayla, a pretty United States based lady on my profile. Since then, men have been disturbing me and calling to request for a date,” he stated. He said, “What I do is that I assess people based on their appearance on Instagram, add them and thereafter open up conversations with them before I start bringing up all manners of stories in order to dupe them…. At a point, I lied to most of them that I had an accident and I lost my ATM. I told them that I need some money. Some of them were generous enough to drop money into my account.” “I lied to them that I was putting up a boutique and saloon at Ikota, VGC and Lekki, and that I need money to finish setting up…. I know I made a mistake downloading Shayla’s pictures and used them for fraudulent purposes. I am telling you the truth, those that I have collected money from cant be more than 33,” he explained. Investigations revealed that the owner of the profile pictures the suspect used, @Shayla had complained to Instagram that some Nigerians were using her profile pictures to scam unsuspecting members of the public. It was also disclosed that the suspect claimed to be a friend of Toke Makinwa, Tonto Dike, Don jazzy, Peter Okoye, Toyin Aihmaku, Tee Y Mix, Oristsefemi, Timaya, Sean Tizzle, Dami Adenuga, Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga jnr, Ramsey Noah e.t.c. “I know all of them. I attend a lot of shows, I meet them, take photographs with them, even exchange numbers. Like sister Toke Makinwa, Tonto Dike, Uncle Ramsey Noah, these are the kind of celebrities I look up to and I want to be like them,” he stated. But RRS investigators confirmed that he was following a lot of Nigerian celebrities on Instagram but they could not confirm if any of them fell prey to Falope’s antics, as many his Instagram chats with them got no response. They added that a Ghanian business man who Falope claimed to have met at a popular club in Nigeria rebuffed his request to engage him in a chat. They noted that Falope claims of been a half-cast, Fashion designer, stylist, cosmetologist, model were all part his fraud to make people fall for him. He was never a trainee or a specialist in any of this. Our source added that he is not an half-cast as he claimed to be, rather he bleached his skin. “He didn’t deny this claim. He admitted bleaching his skin to escape the taunting of girls that he was a very ugly guy,” the source stated. Items recovered from the suspect included, an iphone 6, 1 Samsung Galaxy A5, an Apple tablet, hand and neck chains, some new notes and a handbag. Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suprintendent Dolapo Badmos, warned Nigerains to be careful on the internet because scammers are on the prowl worldwide. The suspect has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations. http://www.jalupon.com/%E2%80%8Bjournalism-undergraduate-impersonates-sexy-goddess-scams-33-Hot-nigerian-men-on-instagram/

After more than a year of intrigues it might seem Nigeria’s 74 year old President has come to realize his political limitations in a surprising turn of events the taciturn former dictator is full of effusive praise for Nigeria’s controversial and intrigue loving Senate President. Two days after President Muhammadu Buhari turned 74, Senate President Bukola Saraki today 19 December turns 54 and in a goodwill message to the celebrant, the President describes the Senate President as “one of the most influential politicians of our time who has made tremendous impact on the country.” President Buhari notes that Senator Saraki has successfully kept the memory of his late father alive by identifying with the grassroots in his home state. While wishing the Senate President many more prosperous years ahead, the President calls for closer cooperation between the executive and the legislature to ensure the smooth implementation of government policies and programmes. According to President Buhari, despite the principle of separation of powers, both arms of government should be united in the promotion of the common good of the people. He notes that whatever differences that may occasionally arise between the two branches of government should not be allowed to compromise their common goals of promoting the greater progress and development of Nigeria. http://www.jalupon.com/74-year-old-buhari-kowtows-to-saraki-says-he-is-highly-influential/

First Primus West Africa Limited, an upscale integrated marketing communications company, recently hosted members of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Undergraduate Club (CIMA UC), University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter, to an “Open day at First Primus” at their premises in Lagos. The students, who turned out in numbers, were at the event to benefit from the vast experience and knowledge acquired over the years by Otunba Seni Adetu, Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, First Primus West Africa Limited, and Dr. Noel Tagoe, Executive Director, Education, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). It was indeed a wonderful session of learning and mentorship as Dr. Tagoe, a professor at Oxford University in the United Kingdom prior to his appointment at CIMA, spoke on a range of issues about life, using his personal experiences to illustrate the importance of having an ambition and leadership trait. Here are 10 symbolic lessons one can learn from the life of Dr. Noel Tagoe. 1. Take Action: You can do whatever you want to do in life. Take action, just do it. All talk is nothing. When you talk, it goes off, it does not establish anything, at most, it annoys some people. When you think, it’s only in your head. When you do it, it changes the fact on the ground 2. Have an ambition: Be ruthlessly ambitious. Do not be comfortable with where you are. Be ready to take a risk. 3. Work with a broad mindset: Learn to think big, think of how to achieve things beyond the ordinary. 4. Be aware of yourself and your society: We do not have a sense of this is what I can do. You have to be aware of who you are and the things happening around you. You have to have a sense of what you do and be proud of it. 5. Never seek to pursue perfection: Pursuit of perfection is the enemy of progress. If you keep waiting for whatever you are doing to be perfect, you would not progress. Lagos, Nigeria’s most beloved city, is famous for the level of traffic commuters in the city have to endure on a daily basis. While the traffic situation can be quite frustrating and tiresome, it is not the time wasted or energy exerted that terrifies these commuters. What they find most dreadful is the possibility of strong-armed robbery in traffic. Most areas in Lagos, especially on the Island and Peninsula, are well guarded, however, there are key traffic areas where these robberies occur not just at nights, but in broad daylight,. These areas include Marina, CMS – Costain Bridge, Maryland end of Ikorodu road, Gbagada, Mile 2 – Oshodi bridge and Idumota – Eko bridge. These armed robbers target heavy traffic routes. Although traffic robbery is something motorists or commuters would not want to contemplate, it is equally something they can easily get caught up in. Jumia Travel, Africa’s No.1 online Hotel booking portal has suggestions on how to deal with strong-armed robbery in Lagos traffic. Marijuana2 Stay Calm This maybe seem very hard to do, but it is the only way to survive the situation. Some robbers accost their victims by gently tapping on their side window and revealing the butt of their gun, or whatever weapon they have, while others prefer to scare their victims by smashing their side window or windscreen with a hammer. Whatever the case, do not panic, or raise alarm. The numerous witnesses will not assist or give you any protection, neither will the security men on patrol. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you are still alive and will only have to lose a few possessions. Staying calm can reduce the chance of the offender becoming agitated and reduce the risk of violence. Do not attack Do not use your pepper spray or pocket knife. Do not attack the robber. Most of the robbers are not only armed, they operate in gangs and while you might have been initially accosted by one member of the gang, the others lurk around. Attacking the armed robber very rarely ends well. Avoid direct eye contact No matter how low-class the robber may look or seem, behave deferentially. Avoid looking him directly in the eye as that might irritate him. Don’t stare either, as this would be perceived as threatening to the offender. Keep your eyes down and look at the chin of the offender and use your peripheral vision to obtain details. This is less threatening to the offender. Address him as ‘Sir’ or ‘oga’, whichever you find more comfortable. Most robbers have low self-esteem and a little bit of respect might calm them down or even deter them. Cooperate Unless your car is bullet and hammer-proof, do not argue with the armed robber. Cooperate . Ensure you first inform the robber in clear terms that you are willing to cooperate, then respond quickly to their demands to whatever instructions they give. Speak only if you need to answer the offender and always reply honestly. Do not try any form of heroics. Speak clearly and with simple language There is no gain in impressing an armed robber with good grammar. Do not try to confuse him with a foreign language, heavy/polished accent or big grammar. Respond in the simplest English you know. If you are fluent in pidgin or local dialect, whichever the robber starts communication with, continue with it. Trying to sound too polished might give them the notion that you have more than you are giving to them and that would aggravate them, and possibly encourage them inflict harm on you. Also, try not to add to much detail or say anything that is unnecessary as that could increase the pressure, cause a breakdown in confidence and lead to panic. Keep your answers short, precise and positive using simple words and phrases. http://www.jalupon.com/how-to-deal-with-strong-armed-robbery-in-lagos-traffic/

American designer and filmmaker, Tom Ford, who is married to his partner, Richard Buckley, 68, and has a 4-year-old son, stated this in an interview for the December 2016 issue GQ Magazine. “Yes, all men should be penetrated at some point. I think it would help them understand women,” the 55-year old argues. “It’s such a vulnerable position to be in, and it’s such a passive position to be in. And there’s such an invasion, in a way, that even if it’s consensual, it’s just very personal. Homosexual Ford, who gained fame as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, reasons that “There’s a psyche that happens because of it that makes you understand and appreciate what women go through their whole life, because it’s not just sexual, it’s a complete setup of the way the world works, that one sex has the ability to literally—and is expected to and is wanted to—but also there’s an invasion. And I think that that’s something most men do not understand at all.” http://www.jalupon.com/to-better-understand-women-%E2%80%8Ball-men-should-be-penetrated-at-some-point-tom-ford/

This is a very interesting story and a lesson for men. Men, please take time to ponder. Women, just enjoy the story. Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighbouring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur’s youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death. The question was: *What do women really want?* Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man. And to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch’s proposition to have an answer by year’s end. He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men, and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer. But the price would be high as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged. The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but first he would have to agree to her price. The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table, and Arthur’s closest friend. Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunch-backed and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life. He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden. But Lancelot, having learnt of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur’s life. And the reservation of the Round Table. Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered. Arthur’s question thus: “What a woman really wants?” She said, “A woman wants to be in charge of her own life.” Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth, and that Arthur’s life would be spared. And so it was. The neighbouring monarch granted Arthur his freedom. And Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding. The honeymoon hour approached and, Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen was sitting by the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth become her horrible and deformed self only half the time, and be the beautiful maiden the other half. “Which would you prefer?” She asked him. “BEAUTIFUL during the DAY… OR at NIGHT?” Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, he could have a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch! Read more: http://www.jalupon.com/what-do-women-really-want/

Corps members are shunning the legislative rerun election scheduled for Saturday in Rivers State over fear for their life. Many of those contacted to serve as ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have turned down the offer hinting at possible breakout of violence during the election. A source familiar with the matter disclosed that corps members were not showing the usual enthusiasm to participate in the election because of the violence and horse trading that has marked campaigns for rerun. The source said, “Corps members being contacted by INEC to participate in the Rivers rerun election are reluctant to serve in the election. “A good number of them are afraid that there could be violence during the election, and these are young men and women who don’t want to get killed because of some election.” Reacting to the development, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, said the role is voluntary for corps members with those who do not want to work with INEC free to opt out. Ikoiwak reasoned that some of the corps members’ parents might have told them not to take part in the rerun election, adding that such a situation would not affect the exercise on Saturday... Mike Eze-Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike in an Instagram post titled ‘7 reasons why I aint Bobrisky’s bae debunked the rumour that he is ‘the long awaited’ bae that Bobrisky has been on about for some time now. Pretty Mike is a Lagos based socialite and owner of Club Uno located on Allen Avenue, Ikeja. It will be recalled that earlier this year, Okunneye Idris Olanrewaju now known as Bobrisky or Nigerian Barbie posted some clean Naira notes on Instagram claiming it was from ‘Bae’. Well Pretty Mike has come out to say he is not Bobrisky’s bae! One of the reasons Pretty Mike mentioned as a strong defense is that he used to be a serial womanizer and a reckless spender with an endless list of women he has slept with as proof to that, thereby calling Toke Makinwa’s ex Maje a learner compared to him. He also pointed out that he invented the word ‘body count’ alongside his likes, showing he is a woman’s man as opposed to being Bobrisky’s bae. Pretty Mike ended by admonishing all to love, not hate Bobrisky because he’s God’s creation his sexuality not withstanding... http://www.jalupon.com/i-am-not-bobriskys-bae-pretty-mike/

“Daddy, I’m going to die!” “Kai, dapada, Tise. Young lady, I don’t find this funny at all. Don’t be saying horrible things. You will not die.” “But I’m going to die, Daddy, because I am so hungry!” My enemies in Nigeria have sent this child to finish me, I think. Here we are, Saturday morning in Walmart, and she starts this hunger and death drama on top of her voice? Doesn’t she know that her father’s compatriots in Nigeria are second only to Oyinbo people in gbeborun matters? Oyinbo people can gbeborun, ehn! Already, they are looking at us one kain, pretending to mind their business, wondering whether to take the little girl seriously and make funny phone calls to funny places about a little girl complaining openly of hunger at Walmart. Maybe her African parents are not feeding her? “Haba, Tise. You had your cereals, joined me for my own akamu and akara before settling down to your mommy’s boiled yam and eggs – all under an hour ago before we left the house for shopping fa. And on our way here in the car, your mouth was doing up and down on your cookies. Which one is hunger and death for God’s sake? Ok, ask me nicely that you want me to buy you McDonald’s happy meal because of the toy that comes with it. You are just looking for that McDonald’s toy. Instead of asking directly, you are trying to use the Nigerian part of the brain in that your little head.” “Ok, Daddy. I want happy meal. But it is true that children die without food. So you will not let me die like those children?” “Ah, Tise, see, Play-Doh! Let’s get you some Play-Doh.” Excitement over Play-Doh. She forgets the food, hunger, and death topic but I know that I have only postponed that argument by another day. It happens every time she is asked to bring canned and packed food donation to school “for dying children in Africa”. It happens every time she is asked to bring a loonie (one-dollar coin in Canada) or a toonie (two-dollar coin in Canada) for “hungry people in Africa.” We have been putting the food and money donations in her backpack to take to school every time the request comes but it has taken me to a very dangerous ideological terrain. I am a Professor of Postcolonial Theory and Discourse. Those who go through twelve years of the sort of education that this child is receiving in this society ultimately end up as first year undergraduates in my classes where I have just four years to open up their world, enrich their perspectives, and undo the damage of twelve years of being taught and framed to see the non-White, non-Western other as nothing but hunger, disease, and death. She is entering that pipeline. And I am determined to fight the pipeline. But this fight is like no other fight. There is a Nigerian dimension to it. When her Catholic school here asks for donations for the hungry and dying children in Africa, I know that the Africa here has a specific name: Nigeria. Her Catholic school falls in a Parish run by Nigerian Catholic priests. Without African Catholic priests, Catholicism is dead as dodo in Canada. The Christian faith is dying a slow agonizing death in the West. The “pagans” they went to Christianize in Africa and Latin America are now the ones sending Reverend Fathers and Pastors to them here. There are so many Nigerian Catholic priests in and around Ottawa. These Nigerian Catholic priests adopt orphanages back home in Nigeria. Whenever they are traveling to Nigeria, they make an appeal to their Parish and the schools under their jurisdiction for donations to Reverend Father so and so’s orphanage in Nigeria. Father so and so supports the orphanage. Let us help the children. Trouble is, these priests don’t always know how their well-intentioned appeal is passed on to the kids and on to the parents. The Nigerian priests never mean to create the impression that everybody in Africa looks like the children you see in Feed the Children television ads but that is the imagery that the pipeline processes and solidifies in the consciousness of these children. http://www.jalupon.com/winning-a-toddlers-soul/

Popular On-Air Personality, OAP, Toke Makinwa, has said she may consider getting married again. Toke’s 18-month-old marriage to Maje Amaju Ayida hit the rocks when the latter impregnated his longtime girlfriend, Anita Solomon. The 31-year-old recently officially divorced her husband over adultery, cruelty and irreconcilable differences In a chat with Encomium, the popular OAP, who recently revealed shocking experiences she had before her divorce, said she has not given up on marriage. Asked if she could ever give marriage another shot, she said, “It was a journey, we all go through different stages, we learn from them. “Marriage is a beautiful thing. Next time we would be talking, I might be a married woman, who knows. Life is a journey. You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it, so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” On her perception about marriage, she said, “It is a beautiful institution. I am not coming from a bitter place, you would accept what happened. “For me, it might be a marriage, for the next person, it might be a sick child. The most important thing is what you do with what you learnt from the situation. “You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it, so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” Speaking further, she said, “No one should see that your life is not perfect but I am here to change that. People should see you in your worst, which is how they can appreciate your success story. People should see you when you are down and under because you would still come up. “If you reach the bottom, there is only one place to go which is the top. We need to eradicate shaming people to silence, most especially women. Women are held in high esteem. “You can’t show to the world that you are heartbroken, you can’t show to the world that your marriage is not perfect, because people would look at you and think there is something wrong with you. But there is nothing wrong with that person. “She is walking through life. She is becoming what she is supposed to be. It is important that we unmask ourselves, let go off this tradition because people die in silence. There is more to life than the shame.” The OAP, popularly known for her online vlog, was recently backlashed after she literally advised youths in their 20’s to live their life to the fullest. She had said: “Get a tattoo, kiss a stranger, have a one-night stand, party hard.” But responding to criticisms generated by the advice, she said, “I was being misunderstood and that was also acceptable. I can’t reach everyone and by telling them this is what I meant. http://www.jalupon.com/i-might-give-marriage-another-shot-toke-makinwa/

China has not responded to US President Elect, Donald Trump’s Twitter tirade, against its economic interest. Analysts are suggesting that Trump’s Twitter outburst is indicative of shift in relations between Beijing and Washington. Trump had lashed out at Beijing on social media, accusing the world’s most populous country and emerging economic super power of military expansionism and currency manipulation. “Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into their country (the US doesn’t tax them) or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea?” Trump demanded, adding: “I don’t think so!” “We do not comment on his personality. We focus on his policies, especially his policies towards China,” he said, adding that economic relations between the countries had been “mutually beneficial”. Although Trump’s comments were uncharacteristically sharp for a US leader, the initial response from state media — often a proxy for government pronouncements — was restrained. China had “no comment” on the tweets’ motivation, foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang told reporters Monday.
