You guys should let the poor girl be. She's doing great. Didn't know about her until couple of months ago when a Welsh friend told me about her. I was surprised I was being introduced to her music by a British. Well, we hardly appreciate one of ours. |
Are we not better off without these redundant "Ministers of State?". |
Now I think this is crazy. Can someone please advice these people to get their priorities right? I have been watching the present government with great concern. Good steps are being taken in some areas, but on the average, a lot of things are going wrong. Extremely wrong! Can someone in the house please advice Goodluck Jonathan? http://af.reuters.com/article/nigeriaNews/idAFLDE67A1TV20100811 UPDATE 1-Nigeria buys presidential jets, borrows to fund polls, truncated. |
it's as easy as this

It was learnt that the kidnapped men were freed during an overnight raid on the kidnappers hideout by a special unit of State Security Service operatives trained in Israel.Who cares where they are trained? Their only job was probably to deliver the ransome to the kidnappers. |
"This is LOTTO internationale!" "When you want to go to toilet, you will love it, he, he, he, he, heeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Nice one from BBC. Nigerian leader should be ashamed. |

Cookbook pulped over recipe error A publisher is reprinting 7,000 cookbooks after a mistake which gave a recipe for pasta with "salt and freshly ground black people". Penguin Group Australia's head of publishing, Bob Sessions, said the proof reader should have caught the "silly mistake". He told The Sydney Morning Herald: "We're mortified that this has become an issue of any kind and why anyone would be offended, we don't know." http://news.uk.msn.com/odd-news/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=153086234 saw this on msn and couldn't stop laughing. should have read 'black pepper' salt and freshly ground black people ![]() |
Hope he didn't drive the guy watching from the window off his seat. OBJ is fine gentleman sha. |
Why all the hullabaloo about Jonathan and his use of English? golamike:For the sake of our kids, the original poster was right. There is no such word as INSULTIVE. |
Didn't this happen last year? Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1127012/Police-arrest-goat-accused-armed-robbery.html

Ribadu is not a saint but he is the best anti corruption chief that we have seen in this country. My sentiments. |
Excllncy:Yar Adua was also an academic so don't thank God yet. |
Personally, I think ghana is doing well. They have been lucky to have honest leaders. On the contrary, nigeria has been unfortunate to have greedy leaders. Nigeria is well blessed with abundant resources which trickles into the pockets of the privileged few. Potentially we are richer but we don't enjoy better services. Having said that, I must confess that Ghana still has a long way to go. I have friends who ran to ghana hoping it is the promised land. They are still not better off. Having lived in london here with them, I can say there is no love lost between them and nigerians. We should learn to be proud of nigeria irrespective of the odds. |
Why is medical doctor a better candidate for the post than a nurse? Are they both not in the medical field? If the guy has got the skills, let him be. Achievement is never measure by profession. |
I don't think the problem with nigerian government is a gender issue. I won't cast my vote based on sex. I will vote Fashola against Patricia Ette. I will vote Okonjo Iweala against Joshua Dariye. |
Well written, and i hope well read script: the product of semantics scholars. Yar Adua did read a similar script. He gave us the 7-points agenda. 3 years later, none was realized. I'm not being pessimistic. I pray every day Mr Jonathan succeeds. He seems to have the energy. I wish him and nigerians Luck. |
When i was a student in the uni, i was coming home on vacation and our vehicle was searched by the police. In my bag, they found my old electric iron and demanded I produced the receipt. After a long argument, i was given a hit with the batton on my bottom and asked to go. That's a country we are in bro. |
Dora Akunyili still the information mister? Wow, the re-branding exercise continues |
very funny responses. reminds me of the day I and my Mum went to visit my granny. she had an argument with my Mum and next minute, she came out with a kobo to flog my Mum. we had to escape through the back door. scary! and when my grand dad's gun was missing, she was so mad. she said she was going to learn how to shoot it before it was stolen. "if any of these armed robber come, i was going to open the window and shoot out a round!". she was 70 then. wow, may her soul rest in peace. |
Before he was elected into office, there was always something new happening: Projects were being commissioned here and there, Duke was making waves in the north and Ribadu was beautifying Abuja in the north. I used to run to Nairaland to read what was new. Very interesting those days! Pictures were adorning the Travel Section on nairaland. Now, the Travel Section is solely for those applying to travel abroad. Nigerians were all over skycrapercity showing beautiful pictures of the country. When Adua came 3 years ago and promised us the rule of law, we all rejoiced. However, I don't think a lot has happened. What will he be remembered for? Has he presented us with a cup half full or half empty? Time to take stock. |

Fhemmmy:yeah, i do. reuters is a veritable source of information. |
http://af.reuters.com/article/nigeriaNews/idAFLDE6300YB20100401
ABUJA, April 1 (Reuters) - Nigeria said on Thursday it had dropped a legal case against respected former anti-corruption chief Nuhu Ribadu, potentially paving the way for him to return to help Acting President Goodluck Jonathan fight graft. Nigeria's Attorney General has applied for the withdrawal of charges against Ribadu for not declaring his assets after he was fired as head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in late 2007, a justice ministry spokeswoman said. Ribadu was appointed as the first head of the EFCC after international pressure mounted on Nigeria to clean up its atrocious record on corruption. He quickly won respect among diplomats for making arrests and seizures in a country where the rich and powerful had long considered themselves immune. But Ribadu also earned enemies for pursuing cases against powerful former state governors and was fired several months after President Umaru Yar'Adua took power almost three years ago. He has since fled the country and lives in Britain. Continued

truncated. coming from reuters, i don't call this april fool |
lol. reminds me of 1999 when a woman ran into my compound asking my Mom not to harvest any water on that day because people said "something broke in heaven" lol |

I was reading the news online this morning when I ran into this frightening article; Frightening because it is inconceivable that a man who works with the Home Office can stoop this low. I hope this is only an allegation but considering what some fellow nigerians are capable of doing, I won't be very surprise if it turns out to be true. How much shame can we bring to this country? The excerpt below is truncated. You can get the full gist on http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1228739/This-man-married-OWN-daughter-allowed-stay-Britain--Home-Office-knew-it.html?ITO=1490&referrer=yahoo This man married his OWN daughter so she would be allowed to stay in Britain - and the Home Office knows about it |
reminds me of the melacholy of the poet in kofi awoonor's "the solitary reaper". the nigerian police need roja though. |
so do u guys believe the content of the picture below?

ifey1900:Man, you must be living in the dream world. I'm not placing a a curse on you, but it is evident you over-exaggerated your worth. As a fresh graduate, if you are lucky enough to get a job in this time of economic downturn, you are looking at £18K-£30K. This is the average. You will be lucky to fall outside the bracket. And about the Army things, I think nigerian workers and service men/woment are grossly underpaid. Elsewhere, life is better. I am a soldier myself so I know what I'm talking about. |
