Thats is it. Make sure the part time work during uni is more than 20 hours. it should be stated on the reference letter.

Bnimz:
That should be easy to avoid.. The pesin no go just claim work experience for points..

That is at their discretion. But so far I have not seen anyone that they contact their employers. They only need you reference letter on letter head or statutory declaration and 2 payslip if letter head is not available. chikena

RPL = Recognition of Prior Learning.
If your degree is non ICT and you apply for an assessment with ACS and you do not have a certification that is equated to a diploma (CCNP, CCDP,
CCIE, MCSE) by ACS, then have the option of writing about two projects that you executed within the period being assessed which prove that you have gained Bachelors level knowledge in ICT.

You are expected to address four topics covering the two broad areas of the ACS body of knowledge https://www.google.com.ng/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.acs.org.au/content/dam/acs/acs-documents/The-ACS-Core-Body-of-Knowledge-for-ICT-Professionals-CBOK.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwjNz87C_b3UAhVKPVAKHe56BKkQFggoMAE&usg=AFQjCNGg3bx1rySHM1TAgEvuRD-IELdaUA&sig2=QvjJmvCRUlWYXn2a_eir0g.

This would be used to determine your fit intandem with your years of experience for your nominated occupation.

Well said Bro. Only That in my own case I have a certification which was already considered as ICT diploma and already have a positive assessment. However, I want to get an earlier skill met date so I can claim more ponts for experience, that is the reason I am writing the RPL.

@ Akereconfi

To get more experience point if you have a degree in computer science and you want your skill met date to be your graduation date. Then you can apply for a review and add more experience years but this time you need to add experience prior to uni and during uni years, uni years would be part time. You do not need RPL.

I did not use experience prior to uni and during uni in my initial application.
After this, you can turn to VETASSESS for a points test advice just to determine that your degree is equivalent to an AQF Bachelors to enable you claim 15 points for education.
Is it really neccesary to assess with VETASSESS. ACS did not make any mention of my degree. It is a non ICT degree from a section 1 university. I know I can claim 15 points for it but must I assess it with VETASSES. cc Bellong

Thanks Alphadoor,

My brother from another mother.

I have been advised to write RPL and get an earlier skill met date. This would push me to 65 points as English test is not cooperating (done twice already)

Please anyone who has an RPL that has been used successfully please help. Even if it is for another ICT profession I will use it as guidance.

Specifically I want to write RPL for 263111 - computer Network and system Engineer.

Thanks all

Try mamajazz suggestion. You might be lucky to get the 20 Point at one sitting. And PTE result is fast so you can still get the ITA before age drops

ajiifixing:

Age will drop in July.....
Trying remark for 20 points..... but it wont change anything as age will have decreased.
I guess I have no choice than to wait for 8 months...
Meanwhile will still face Canny

You can still drag your guys into it. If it works for him it will also work for them. In my opinion, what they should check is if they finished from a section 1 or section 2 university. for those in section 2 university, they may be assess on a case by case basis. All in all they if they have up to 5 years to six years experience before there graduation date then +ve assessment is a "Sure thing" and post graduation experience would not be a must.

its probably different then.. But well .. Donno sha
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Azy123(m): 10:14am On Jun 12, 2017
The part time work counted. Without it you would not have a +ve assessment, not without 2 years post qualification experience.

akereconfi:

Clearly wrong.......

I had just a BSc ( and I graduated last year) with no work experience although I attached some part time work during Uni days which doesn't count anyways...

And I got +ve assessment within 11 days

Thank you Azy1223,

No PT job back then, just 6 month internship.

Which of Alphadoor's synopsis is looking more likely.?
1) Age:30...PTE: 20..:Exp..5..:Bsc...15 : 70
2) Age:30...PTE..20...EXP..0...Bsc,...15...65
3) Age:30...PTE..20...Exp..0...CCNP. 10..60 (visa 190 +5)
4) Age:30...PTE..20...EXP.5...CCNP 10.. 65

I'm not sure theres a category of my course as ICT Minor though, as 1 & 2 are assume an ICT major.

Option 2 covers that. you have 6 yrs 2 months of experience . If ICT minor 5 yrs or 6 yrs will be deducted depending on if they assess it as closely related or not. you will have 1yr 2 months or only 2 months left therefore Zero years of experience.

Since no PT job then 20 Point in English is a must.

Hello, I have done my assessment with ACS and got a positive response.

Here are my points claimed.

Age 24 -------------- 25 Points
BSc degree --------- 15 Points
Work XP (5 Years) --10 Points

IELTS ----------------10 Points
**awaiting IELTS result but am hopeful of getting 7 across the 4 sections

Hello 1naira50Kobo. Nice post

Which occupation are you nominating. I hope you know that for most IT profession on the SOL list ( or whatever they have change it to now) required 65 pts. with the calc above without work experience and with 20 pts in english you will get 60 points. It seems you are gunning for state nomination. website designer??

you have a +ve assessment from ACS already. You graduated in 2016. in order to help others out can you give answers to the questions below. Or maybe some tips on how you have done it. (Not the full details grin). Because I know someone on this thread in a somewhat similar situation. Others will benefit too.

1) Did you submit reference letter for part time or full time work experience with hours greater than 20 hrs per week during the same duration as your study for bachelor degree.( i.e concurrently) and was it accepted?
2) Did you submit reference letter for the work done prior to yoour admission into university and was it accepted.

3) How many years were deducted all together from the above to give you the +VE assesment?

4) I guess your skill met date is your day of completion of your Bsc. Is that correct?

Thanks

I understand but I did it because i wanted to take screenshot of the questions and document needed for EOI and prepare well... if I know it was that unfair I wouldn't have done it so please don't make me feel bad about it. nobody is missing it for life.

You need to feel bad madam. And he is right in making you feel bad. It is just like unknowingly poisoning someone and asking people not to make you feel bad.

But to make you feel better, it is obvious you did it out of ignorance.

A better way for the benefit of others who want to try out a dummy EOI is to make sure you suspend the EOI after completing it so that it would not be considered for ITA. or alternatively you can click the withdraw button at the bottom of the EOI.

I noticed that there is no requirement to show proof of funds available to sponsor yourself and your family in the document checklist. Could anyone please confirm if this is the case or I missed the information somewhere?

But you earlier said it was only her NYSC certificate that bears your Surname.

I gave the initial advice based on that information, considering the fact that her NYSC document doesn't have bearing in your DIBP application.

But now that you have a couple of vital documents (kids' birth cert and marriage cert) in your Surname......may be it's safe to follow through with change of name.

I don't thinks the order of formal name change and when you start having it on documents matter (what matters is now you've a document backing for it)

funkyjo:

IMO, I would say you should get her passport in her married name. Afterall, you have a marriage certificate from a registry. Just do a court affidavit and newspaper publication. The court affidavit will even show the date she got married to you. I got my own court affidavit 2 years after my marriage. For consistency also, just get her passport in her married name. The dates on the documents and children's birth cert don't matter afterall she started using your surname after she got married to you and your marriage certificate covers that.

Like I said this is my opinion smiley

Ok. Thanks. The NYSC discharge certificate readily came to my mind. The kids' birth cert escaped my mind and when it did came to my mind I was not sure what I used until I checked yesterday.

Since it seems the order of formal name change and use on documents does not matter I will do the needful - court affidavit, Newspaper publication and her passport in my surname.

Thanks all.

Westerners don't see big deal in married women retaining their surnames, in fact it is quite common in their societies. All you need do is prove that your relationship is genuine.

You might want to take a cue from my personal experience below to determine which option suits you. But be aware that having different names on different documents usually complicates DIBP processing, i doubt if you can escape CO contact.

My wife renewed her passport when we started our PR journey and still retained her maiden name as surname in conformity with her other documents; we proved our relationship by presenting below documents;

Our son's birth certificate (her surname still maiden name)

Letter from my HMO stating she and the baby are my dependents

HMO ID cards in my company's name

Correspondence emails between me and HMO when she was being added to my plan

Marriage Certificate (Religious body)

Notarization document from court stating she's married to me and she's not changing her surname

We are still awaiting grant and have got 1 CO contact relating to PCC (nothing on prove of relationship or use of maiden name)

Thanks

It seems I already complicate it a little for myself.

Immediately we got married. I just assume she should start using my surname and that marriage certificate (from Ikeja registry) should be enough for that. My thinking was that afterall everyone knows when a woman is married she takes a man's surname. So, I did not do change of name smiley

So this is my situation.

On our children's birth certificate mother's name is in my surname .

All HMO ID cards for the whole family, mother and children, are in my surname.

@ bellong, If I do a change of name and newspaper publication now for her, the kids birth certs will predate it. But then her name on passport and name on children birth certs will become the same. Do you forsee any issues with this option?

@Ozymigrant Do you think doing the passport in her maiden name can still work. Make dem no say na another mama born my pikins dem o. Or I can just try and see if I can get another birth certificate with kids name in my wife maiden name and then get the passport. Do you forsee any issues with this option?

@ Everyone. Please help prevent an issue before it happens. Your advice please. It might help more than only me.

Thanks

Go ahead and let her apply with your surname. Just get affidavit to swear she is the same person and also newspaper publication.

bellong:

@Azy123,

If you are married, go ahead and do her passport in her married surname. You can do a paper publication of change of name and marriage certificate as evidence.

2. CO will surely request for evidence of marriage whether you use her maiden name or a change name. Marriage certificate is enough proof.

Thanks I appreciate your input. I assume the paper publication of change of name/ affidavit must come before processing the passport or the order does not matter.

Thanks a lot incemay. The issue is that i don't have international passports bearing each of these names except for that in the name i now bear after marriage. Alagbon contact is saying we have to provide int. passport in those names (i pray and hope our current passports can cover for this) and that they will issue us PCC for each name.
Do we have to notarize the court affidavit?

Hello All,

I have been searching the thread to see if I missed something that can address this situation. I think I have seen it before but I can't find it. So, so sorry about these questions.

I am about to get a new passport for my wife. She does not have one before. Since we got married I have not done change of name and the only document that carries my family name as her surname is her NYSC discharge certificate.

Q1.) Is it advisable to just go ahead and get a new passport in her maiden name to avoid all the wahala as in the quote above?

Q2) Wont using her maiden name cause CO ( when the time comes) to doubt the authenticity of the marriage and start asking for evidence of marriage and waste more time.

Thank you.
