So...

How did you get the 75 bro. It seems you seleceted some options that are not applicable to you.Or you assumed 20 points in english?

Also note that you cant really know your point for experience until you have done your assessment because your assessing Authorities in most cases remove some years of experience especially if the qualification is not an exact fit for the occupation.

I will advise you calm down and package your application very well to reduce the years assesing authority will remove.

It will end in praise.

75 is more than enough for now.

IT assistance is not in Australia ANZSCO so we will need to look for something to nominate.

lets look at your points first.

Age = 30 points ( you are less than 33)
English = 20 ( highest possible)
Qualification = 10 ( HND acquired in 2017 i.e aqf diploma or advance diploma depending on the school)

Total point without experience = 60 points

With the current trend 60 points is not even close to being enough for ICT professions on 189. but you can explore 489 while you try to increase you points

Your best bet to give you some opportunity of claiming experience point is not to rely on your HND for positive assessment(your HND is Diploma with ICT major, see the ACS summary of criteria attached) but to use RPL (recognition of prior learning) but this also depends on your age.

ACS will deduct 8 years of experience. But the good part is that experience from the day you turned 18 years is acceptable whether part time or full time but it must be more than 20 hours per week.

So,

If you are up to 29 years you can claim 3 years of experience ( 18 years + 8 years ACS will deduct + 3 years experience for points). If you are more than 29 yrs you can claim more experience points.

jimohabdo:
Good day all,
@bellong and other gurus... i just concluded my HND last October 2017. Although, i was working full time and studying on a full time bases as well after reading through the trend, i notice job experience is post qualification. i have five years working experience already, i want to know if i should use my ND qualification to apply because with my ND my work experience is covered, and also want to know National Diploma point.

Age - 30 points
English - Awaiting result
Qualification -

For the experience look for a statement similar to this

"The following employment after June 2008 is considered to equate to work at an appropriately skilled
level and relevant to 263111 (Computer Network and Systems Engineer) of the ANZSCO Code."

A month and a date must have been stated on the assessment result as in the bolded above. Calculate from that month till the last day your husband stop working and that is the number of months or years.

AQF Graduate Diploma with a Major in computing this is 15 points

We will review the docs together :-)

I will follow your advise and accept the Systems Admin. today.

Should I follow ZoeW's suggestion to get HR Reference without JD and have my Managers give a statutory declaration for the JD? Will this be better?

Who can help me review my JD? Can you help with this please?

I am told there is an appeal and review process. Which of them should I be doing?

I appreciate your help and suggestions. Thanks.

Only for occupations marked as "special condition apply" and supplementary skilled list for SA

stepo707:

The 85 points that SA requires, is it for all nominated jobs or some particular ict jobs?
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Azy123(m): 4:45pm On Feb 19, 2018
I just checked again when you mentioned "low availability" and realized that you actually need 70, 60+10 points for system administrator. I thought it was on "special condition"where you need 85 points. ( so I will go back and edit my initial post so as not to mislead)

SA is nominating for 489 if you can meet their requirement i.e (60 points + 10 regional nomination points for system administrator).

You say you hope to get 75 point post assessment. Can you please break it down.

Do you already have 20 points in English. Please don't assume it is a work in the park.

The system administrator suggestion may actually be a blessing in disguise.

My advice..

Accept the System Administrator, Apply to SA with 489. They take like 5 weeks t nominate ( since your age point will be changing soon)

Then

Start the review process to get ICT biz analyst, Only ACS knows how long they will take but it cant take long. But this time around be sure to send to people to help you review.

olapj:
@Azy123

I understand what you mean and it is just so painful because the Reference letter submitted had a detailed description of what each job entailed. Each career episode was clearly explained. sad

I am also afraid that apart from not be able to get 189 Visa, would accepting Systems Admin not mean I may get a few years cut off my experience since about 6 years of it is not relevant to Systems admin?

Also, I see NT wants evidence of employment in NT for Systems Admin. eligibility.
SA also says low availability.

I am at a crossroad here. I don't know what to do. Time is not favorable as I would be 40 in about 2 months, hence losing a few more points.

I wish they had even asked for clarity or more documentation.

Place of work, titles cannot be changed and HR has no idea what it is a person actually does. only line managers do. But HR is the one that gives references based on the titles on the offer letters and job role change, but the Job descriptions were drafted to fit ICT Business analyst as it is what I do.

What do I do? I am afraid Systems Admin offers flickering hope sad

Sorry about this situation.

Assessments officers , especially ACS, only look at your job descriptions to determine which occupation you fir into. Some job title ring bells and one can easily have an idea of where they fit e.g

Local Database Administrator 2010 - 2013
Network Controller 2007 – 2009.

While some ring no bells at all e.g ( for me the following does not even give me an idea of what the job entails)

Services Dispatch Manager / Tools and Processes Manager 2016 - 2017.
Tools and Processes Manager August 2013 - January 2016 (Service Dispatch Manager was an additional role to this)
Change Management Administrator 2009 – 2010

So,

Ultimately the job descriptions determines occupation you are assessed as.

I see 2 options for you

1) Do nothing = sure negative assessment for ICT biz Analyst. Then do a review by resubmitiing refrence letters with the right Job descriptions. that means you will pay 375 AUD and get a positive assessment in ICT Biz Analyst ( note that ICT biz analyst is currently on 75 points)

2) Accept their suggestion = System Administrator 200AUD. Apply 489 to NT and SA (but note that SA requires high point- 70 points. 60+10). You can still review with new reference letter with correct JD for ICT Biz Analyst while you hold System Administrator positive assessment first.

olapj:
Good Morning good people. Please help a confused Nigerian ooo...biko

I received a feedback on my assessment as an ICT Business Analyst from ACS that my skills are not closely related to my nominated ANZSCO code. It was recommended that Systems Administrator is suitable.

Now I am told if i have to change to this new code I have to pay additional 200AUD. The problem I have with this code is this, not only is it barely related to what I do (I looked up this code, so I don't know how it relates), I had barely more than 2 years experience at the start of my career (so I am surprised at this recommendation) but the major issue is the role is not eligible for the 189 visa. And very few states sponsor it with clauses.

My experience is below: (All, except 2007-2009 role, were with the same employer)
Services Dispatch Manager / Tools and Processes Manager 2016 - 2017.
Tools and Processes Manager August 2013 - January 2016 (Service Dispatch Manager was an additional role to this)
Local Database Administrator 2010 - 2013
Change Management Administrator 2009 – 2010
Network Controller 2007 – 2009.

In view of this, what do I do?

Am I supposed to wait for them to conclude this then I appeal the assessment? Although they didn't mention a need for clarity or additional documents. Or do I concede to the fate of Systems Administrator which most states don't seem to want? angry undecided

Please help an aspiring Nigerian searching for saner/greener pasture. Please advise me (Are there any alternative options I could take?)

Please help.

If you use your MIT you will get positive assessment but no point for experience. Without experience experience point can you get up to 75 points total? If so then you are good to go. Do your calculation - age? , Edu - 15, Eng ? Partner point?

Otherwise you can arrange your assessment properly to make that 4 years post B.Sc experience count = 5 points.

RPL + B.Sc

or

RPL + Certification (MCSE )

Note that part time work during your Bsc( or even before your Bsc as long as you are over 18 year of age) that is greater than 20 hours can be used as relevant work experience. They can remove that as the required 6 - 8 years
If any of the company you worked with can not issue reference letter or the company no longer exist, you can use statutory declaration.

Go through the summary of criteria attached as well to get the picture.

Tolutheo:

Thank you for your time boss, here are the answers below:

1.) No, MIT is a professional masters so PGD is not required for non IT majors
2.) I obtained the MIT Dec, 2017
3.) I obtained the BSc Biochemistry in November 2012
4.) Yes I have a couple of Microsoft Cert: MCSA Office 365, MCSE Sharepoint, MS Azure, MCSD Azure (All obtained between 2014 and 2015)
5.) I started working immediately after my NYSC in June 2014 so I have about 4 years post NYSC experience

Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Azy123(m): 2:48pm On Feb 06, 2018
@Trastar , I miss that line where he said he has 4 yours experience only, now I see it. I agree with you this is the tricky part. But his B.sc point is 15 points (BSc. from OAU) same as his masters.

@Tolutheo, I assume you will use pre-qualification experience together with your BSc. and RPL so that your experience immediately after your B.Sc can count towards your experience point.

If all 4 years experience were acquired after Masters then you can use your masters only and still get the same point.

trastar:

This is tricky.
If he has two years before the masters, means he will claim points for 4 years experience gotten after masters and claim 15 points for education..
His BSc will only get him 10 points and he stated he has just 4 years experience.
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Azy123(m): 11:10am On Feb 06, 2018
TRed as done justice to your question.

But note that it is not just to have a positive assessment but also to maximise your point that count

Do you have up to 8 years experience after your Masters? so that you can claim 15 points. If you do then you can use your masters

Else

Use your Bsc cert with an RPL.

Do you have any other IT cert?

The earlier the certificate the better because your skill level met date will be from the date you obtain the certificate if the acquired experience is sufficient.

cc: alphadoor

Tolutheo:

Thanks boss. This is really helpful. The masters seems valid for the occupation I am nominating. Please I will also like to ask if the years of experience I have before obtaining my masters will count.
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by Azy123(m): 4:18pm On Feb 05, 2018
Hi wapu,

You can start by answering the question

"is it ICT support engineer " 263212 that was advised?"

Or ICT system test engineer

I know someone who was in the same shoe last year. she decided to accept it even though it was not sponsored by NSW at that time she lodged EOI. She got nominated on stream 2, NSW.

So it is really in your hand.

If you dont mind the money , I think you should accept it first ( you have something to hold in your hand). Then do a review by submitting updated reference letters that would be in line with the ANZSCO you really want. Since your RPL was is already successful , your review will be successful as well as long as you do it right with correct Job description.

wapu:

What do you advice I do?
