thaprofit88: If you are applying for entry clearance under any of the following visa routes, you must provide a criminal record certificate for any country (excluding the UK) where you have lived for 12 months or more (whether continuous or in total), in the 10 years before your application, while aged 18 or over. Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Tier 1 (Investor) Skilled Worker in education, health or social care sectors Dependent partner (over 18 years old) of the main applicant in any of the above routes, either together with the main applicant or separately The above are the categories of people I know that require a Police report before arrival in the UK, and as per student , some certain student from some countries are required to do a mandatory police clearance report upon arrival and Nigeria is not on that list. And it is usually stated on the vignette. If its not on the vignette then you dont need it. https://www.gov.uk/register-with-the-police/who-needs-to-register

By the way, if you travelling with a large family, do try and start making arrangements for your PSW visa. Start saving because its not cheap and you dont want to be caught off guard. For context, its £700 per applicant and the health surcharge is £624 for each yearner applicant, which equals £1248 for the two years PSW. To break that down, for a family of 4, you would need to remit £7792. One year looks like a long time, but steady paying bills every month would catch up with you faster than you can imagine.Migrating to the UK is not cheap. 9 Likes 4 Shares

justwise: I am sorry I beg to differ on this assertion, we do have people whose family can't afford to show lump sum proof but are more than willing to support the student on a monthly basis by sending monthly allowance. Does that mean they should not be allowed to dream? If the same standard was applied to most European or American student, they would not be educated at all, there would be no educational standard in the west because a large percentage of their student pay tuition with loans, African students don't have that luxury. That being said, education in the UK is not for everyone, it is indeed very expensive and everyone should have a substantial plan before diving into it. Getting a visa is stage 1 of a 4 stage journey, let me also add that not everyone would get to stage 4, this might sound canny and harsh but it is what it is. Make sure you have a plan before starting this journey, banking on 20hrs work might not cut it. A good number of students here cant afford to show proof of funds without the assistance of banks, and their dreams should be valid too. Juts in case you are wondering, we have a lot of students who have graduated and went through this same issue, work hard, love your neighbour and pray. 28 Likes |

Preeskaar: No Sir, you are misinterpreting the information. Control of funds is the onus and not amount of money .What you are referring to here is available funds and not control of the available funds.Money can be held in either applicant or partners account.

The covid news in the country is currently unpleasant, and the health care system is also in crisis with the current doctor's strike. I really hope and pray the British Government don't drop us into the Red list. We currently don't have a functioning health system and the isolation centres are filled to capacity. 6 Likes |

Aydceo: 1. Yes, you have to pay IHS for wife and kids. 2.The new POF has to cover everyone, including yourself, even though you already have your visa. 3. The money can remain in your account if you are providing marriage cert to show proof of relationship with spouse and birth cert for child. 4. You can use either the US or Nigerian passport, I am yet to see any special advantage on using either of them 5. If your son was the main applicant(student) and applying with the US passport, then he would not have needed to show evidence of POF, but in this regard, he has to show 4 Likes |

Some update from my end . Family of Five. Application date : 22/07/21 Biometrics VI : 23/07/21 Main Applicant : Super Priority Spouse Dependant : Priority Children Dependants : Standard Collection . Main : 28/07/21(weekend between)- 2 workings days Spouse(Me) : 30/07/21 -5 working days Children Nigerian Passport : 09/08/21 -11 working days US passport : 10/08/21 - 12 working days Submitted all applications on the 22nd of July, we couldn’t get any date for biometrics close by, but the moment we picked Super Priority for Main and booked for following day, we were able to get close dates for the rest. We all did walk in with main applicants appointment date for biometrics on 23rd July.We didn’t have any stress because the main had an appointment and they allowed us in with her, got in 08:30 we all finished 09:45. 1hr 15mins. Basically got all our info from the web and Nairaland, I joined Nairaland 2013 when I was looking for info to have our daughter in the US, and got all the info we needed back then too from Nairaland. The information here is priceless mainly because its first hand from people that have gone through or going through same process. Key points for me, you really don’t need an agent for this process as long as you have internet connection. Whatever info you also get from here, you would do yourself some good if you also search online for better understanding, I am not the student but I literally know the A-Z of obtaining a student visa, because I wanted to know. Alot of people are mentally lazy, if you use the basic google search and type “how much is Uk student visa in Nigeria” , you would get thousands of hits and if you go through, it would even direct you to Nairaland post about same topic. We have 800+ pages mainly because of repeated questions and lazy questions. Wifey is the main applicant(Northumbria), she had study gap of 18 years, we didn’t get any not straight forward email and she wasn’t interviewed. She has loads of job experience to cover the gap though . We also have a healthy travel history, combined travel history was 38 US/UK/EU/Dubai, and valid Uk and US. I am a Pilot, hence I have some basic travel knowledge and all, also why I gave some input in regards best generic days to find cheap tickets to travel. I would have to do some conversion exams if I want to fly in the UK, and that would take a while. So I am still pondering on my best options as per work for me. We have some very intelligent people here and surely would keep the follow of the page alive on my part. The main beauty is how individuals are willing to help regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender and age, especially those who already got visa’s and are still here helping out,God bless all your hearts.Hopefully we can transcend this vibe into this entity called Nigeria. Let me add, it’s ok not to know some basic issues because as individuals we learn and grow everyday. So when in doubt, please ask. Whats not ok is giving out advise you are not sure about. It’s better to remain quiet and observe than to mislead, there exist consequences on the part of the person you are giving that misinformation. No one human is an island of knowlegde, and as long as you are willing to learn you would keep adding to your life. Wish everyone the best in your quest to better yourself and your families.I am Open to any questions about our process. And don’t forget to give a good representation of yourself when out there in the UK, we owe those coming behind a chance to also use the process. In lay man’s word, “DONT Bleep IT UP FOR THE NEXT SET OF APPLICANTS” 77 Likes 3 Shares |

Waleypaparazzi: According to the guidance provided by ukvi, dependants should be considered same time as main applicant if they are applying together. A decision should have been made on your application but they would follow the standard timeline for issuing the vignette. You would have to apply discretions https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/976139/student-route-casework-guidance-v3.0-ext.pdf 1 Like

If you are planning on travelling with more than £10,000,you can actually save yourself some time at the port of entry by declaring it online or through the phone. The queue at the ports considering covid would be long, so save yourself some time. You can declare the cash 72hrs before you travel. I have attached the link for that. its the fastest way actually https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/submissions/form/declare-cash-you-carry-into-or-out-of-great-britain/Do-you-have-full-details-ready-of-your-passport-cash-and-journey?n=0&se=t&ff=t&_ga=2.108556484.719612060.1628492933-1499155576.1628185932 2 Likes 3 Shares
