9) Committing the 'terrorism of gossip.' "It's the sickness of cowardly people who, not having the courage to speak directly, talk behind people's backs."

10) Glorifying one's bosses. "It's the sickness of those who court their superiors, hoping for their benevolence. They are victims of careerism and opportunism, they honor people who aren't God."

11) Being indifferent to others. "When, out of jealousy or cunning, one finds joy in seeing another fall rather than helping him up and encouraging him."

12) Having a 'funereal face.' "In reality, theatrical severity and sterile pessimism are often symptoms of fear and insecurity. The apostle must be polite, serene, enthusiastic and happy and transmit joy wherever he goes."

13) Wanting more. "When the apostle tries to fill an existential emptiness in his heart by accumulating material goods, not because he needs them but because he'll feel more secure."

14) Forming 'closed circles' that seek to be stronger than the whole. "This sickness always starts with good intentions but as time goes by, it enslaves its members by becoming a cancer that threatens the harmony of the body and causes so much bad — scandals — especially to our younger brothers."

15) Seeking worldly profit and showing off. "It's the sickness of those who insatiably try to multiply their powers and to do so are capable of calumny, defamation and discrediting others, even in newspapers and magazines, naturally to show themselves as being more capable than others."

In his annual year-end address to the Roman Curia, Pope Francis reflected on the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ and said that the Curia is a microcosm of that Body.

Without daily prayer, regular participation in the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, daily contact with God’s Word, and a “spirituality translated into charity,” a member of the Curia dies spiritually and becomes a bureaucrat, the Pope said in his December 22 address.

To “help us prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation” before Christmas, the Pope then listed 15 spiritual “sicknesses” that are “more usual” in “our life” as members of the Curia.

The 15 include not being self-critical and thinking oneself indispensable, “Martha-ism” (excessive Martha-like busyness), hardheartedness, excessive planning, failing to work with others, “spiritual Alzheimer’s” (forgetting one’s spiritual journey), and rivalry and vainglory.

Other spiritual sicknesses, the Pope added, include existential “schizophrenia” (living a double life that is “often dissolute”), gossip, careerism and flattering superiors, indifference to others, a severe “funeral face” (rather than self-deprecating good humor), the “disease of closed circles,” and “worldly profit, exhibitionism” (through “calumniating, defaming, and discrediting others,” even in the media “in the name of justice and transparency”).

These temptations, he continued, are a danger to every Christian and every community. “The Holy Spirit sustains every sincere effort of purification and every good will of conversion.”

Totally agree with this...One fear that is gripping a lot of Christians today is the fear to stand up and make a difference , the fear to run for political positions or to aspire to be CEOs and bosses.... and funny enough the excuse is that they don't want to be "one of them doing bad things"

Some us need to understand the issue here very well. Companies have rights to transfer their staff but this case was an act of victimization. Secondly, when a staff is elected as Union representative, you cannot transfer the staff out of the branch or zone he or she was elected. Once, any company agrees that the union should exist in the company, the company is expected to abide by some of these agreements. Its part of the union/management agreement. Again, Total showed there hand by asking Mrs Elo to take leave of absence thereby showing thereafter that the transfer is not motivated by any work requirement but to render her ineffective as the Zonal secretary of the union. Now Mrs Elo did not refuse to take the leave of absence but since this is the first time such thing will come up in d zone the modalities needs to be worked out bw d parties. Yes,it seems the FSWP will be rounded off with the new gazette that was released yesterday.
The last gezette of 26th April,2014 indicated it will run till April 30th,2015 but with a clause that another gazette may/can come out to override it....t
The worst of it all,IELTS points now very precious.
