hayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!1 Even after paying in full. This is serious. Well this answers the question someone asked if paying in full helps. rozeybid: Hello Everyone , Been so quiet lately as regards renewing visa but here is a bit of my story .
My husband applied for a J1 visa because he was chosen for the Obama Scholar Foundation program . (Note) He is well travelled and have been to US uncountable times and have never stayed for 1month , he couldn’t even come to childbirth.
The first visa application was denied - Because the VO claimed he took a discount durning our childbirth in the US . He tried explaining to the VO that we paid cash and we were generally given a discount for self pay but he was denied . We contacted the hospital - OAKBEND HOSPITAL ... They said we can’t get any other letter except the zero balance letter we have been given before bla bla bla ...
The second time , the VO didn’t give him enough time for explanation. DENIED. But advise him to get an Immigration lawyer to sort out the issue.
Fast forward, we got an immigration lawyer in the US and paid 2000usd , he was able to iron out lot of things legally and we were told to contact the hospital to ask for the full bill before discount .
My husband contacted OAKBEND and they claim they can’t take any money etc , He reported OAKBEND hospital to TEXAS HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION . Lol and behold , OAKBEND sent us a mail that we need to pay 10,000usd to complete with what was paid before in order to get a new itemized bill without discount .
We paid this money and got the new itemized bill and a letter from Oakbend . My husband went for the THIRD visa application and the VO denied him again without any reason.
He wrote a mail to the US consular general and US Ambassador in Nigeria . He sent lot of Letters through DHL .
The consular general contacted him to go for his interview and he was given VISA (J1)
Back to my story - I applied to renew my visa tht expires August 2019 ... In a view to visit my husband who has been away since September for Xmas but was DENIED . The VO didn’t give me enough time to show all my document .
I booked another - The VO asked if I have new document but told him the previous VO didn’t have enough time to check my document to see I paid my bills in full . He said I will go thro the administrative process ... Alias , I got my passport back Jan and denied again.
Now , with the new development you the US government, I see the reason for the denial . We already wrote a letter to the new Consular general but I am done applying for US visa .
PPR in progress .......
Sorry for my long story . |

Does this mean that one can travel with an already granted B2 visa say in October to give birth. The visa was granted for birtha nd has been used already for one child Sunshine1980: I can see people are still misrepresenting this issue. The issue is straight forward. People should read the actual policy document and not the false intepretations that are tailored to what ever intended purposes.
The B2 visa is generally used for tourism, pleasure and medical treatment. What the new policy says is that having a baby in the USA will no longer be classified as use of the Visa for pleasure purposes. Having baby in the USA will now be classified as use of visa for medical treatment and the consular officer will evaluate the applicant as required. You cannot just show up and say I wish to have my baby in the US as before. Now you need a strong medical reason for going to the US to have your baby and also evidence you can pay for the medical services. All these are with respect to your visa interview with consular officer and not the POE.
The rule also does not affect the POE CBP officers in any way. Please read excerpt from the federal register below for reference.
'SUMMARY: The Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs (“Department”), is amending its regulation governing the issuance of visas in the “B” nonimmigrant classification for temporary visitors for pleasure. This rule establishes that travel to the United States with the primary purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for a child by giving birth in the United States is an impermissible basis for the issuance of a B nonimmigrant visa. Consequently, a consular officer shall deny a B nonimmigrant visa to an alien who he or she has reason to believe intends to travel for this primary purpose. The Department does not believe that visiting the United States for the primary purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for a child, by giving birth in the United States – an activity commonly referred to as “birth tourism”–is a legitimate activity for pleasure or of a recreational nature, for purposes of consular officers adjudicating applications for B nonimmigrant visas. The final rule addresses concerns about the attendant risks of this activity to national security and law enforcement, including criminal activity associated with the birth tourism industry, as reflected in federal prosecutions of individuals and entities involved in that industry. The final rule also codifies a requirement that B nonimmigrant visa applicants who seek medical treatment in the United States must demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the consular officer, their arrangements for such treatment and establish their ability to pay all costs associated with such treatment. The rule establishes a rebuttable presumption that a B nonimmigrant visa applicant who a consular officer has reason to believe will give birth during her stay in the United States is traveling for the primary purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for the child. DATES: This rule is effective on [insert date of publication in Federal Register]. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Megan Herndon, Deputy Director for Legal Affairs, Office of Visa Services, Bureau of Consular Affairs, Department of State, 600 19th St. NW, Washington, DC 20006, (202) 485-7586.
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: I. What changes to 22 CFR 41.31 does this rule make? This rule makes certain changes to the Department’s regulation on B nonimmigrant visas, but does not change Department of Homeland Security regulations regarding the admissibility of aliens, including Visa Waiver Program travelers, or otherwise modify the standards enforced by officials of the Department of Homeland Security. The Department is revising the definition of “pleasure” and subdividing 22 CFR 41.31(b)(2) into three paragraph levels. The Department is retaining its existing, and longstanding, general rule that pleasure, as referred to in Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 101(a)(15)(B), 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(15)(B), for purposes of visa issuance, refers to legitimate activities of a recreational character, including tourism, amusement, visits with friends or relatives, rest, medical treatment, and activities of a fraternal, social, or services nature. The Department is also adding a provision that provides, for purposes of visa issuance, that the term pleasure, as used in INA 101(a)(15)(B), 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(15)(B), does not include travel for the primary purpose of obtaining United States citizenship for a child by giving birth in the United States. The Department is renumbering this provision as paragraph (i).
The Department is adding a provision that provides that a nonimmigrant B visa applicant seeking medical treatment in the United States shall be denied a visa under INA section 214(b), 8 U.S.C. 1184, if unable to establish, to the satisfaction of a consular officer, a legitimate reason why he or she wishes to travel to the United States for medical treatment, and that a medical practitioner or facility in the United States has agreed to provide treatment. Additionally, the applicant must provide the projected duration and cost of treatment and any incidental expenses. The applicant must also establish to the satisfaction of the consular officer that he or she has the means and intent to pay for the medical treatment and all incidental expenses, including transportation and living expenses, either independently or with the pre-arranged assistance of others. If an applicant’s responses to this line of questions are not credible, that may give consular officers reason to question whether the applicant qualifies for a visa in the B nonimmigrant classification, and could lead to additional questions as to whether the applicant intends to timely depart the United States, or intends to engage in other impermissible activity. The Department is renumbering this provision as paragraph (ii). ' |

Pack your load and go to your inlaw house too. Tell them you came for vacation too after all her mother is now your mother and her brother is your brother. Ekene161829: I did something I really regret. My wife and I have an amazing marriage, 2 years of marriage and we are blessed with a 7-month-old baby girl.
She is 28 and I almost 33. Last Saturday I got invited to go out by some of my work friends , I got home late 2am, so madam wasn't happy. She was yelling at me, throwing hands and screaming at me. I ignored her and left the room to the living room but she followed me and I asked her to leave me alone but she kept going which made me angry.
I took the back of my hand and gave her a slap on the mouth. She cried out and held her face and started crying and her lips was bleeding. I didn't intentionally hurt her, I just wanted to calm her down since ignoring her was not working. I said sorry, and I was literally on my knees begging her. I tried to hold her but she refused. The rest of the night was me repeating apology or i didn't mean to hurt you. She ignored me . She went into our room and locked the door.
She was in there for a long time and the next morning, her mother and older brother was at the house and she came out of the room with her and our baby stuff and she said she was leaving me for good. I told her how sorry I was but her mother told me to get out of their faces and they left the house.
I feel so ashamed and I've never done anything like this before and I never thought I would. I don't want to loose my wife and baby. I need both of them back. Should I attempt to contact her?
What do I do? |

This also shows the importance of this forum. maybe if the madam had come on this thread and shared her issue, people would have been able to give her the moral support to seek help.
God bless all of us here and may we deliver safely and live to see our children grow |

This story makes me very sad. Please advice yourself. Look at the kind of husband and support system you have on ground. if your husband is the type that will not want to bring out money for CS or is easily persuaded by religious belief abeg hold your money yourself. Go to the hospital and tell them that you are the only person allowed to sign surgery release on your behalf. Protect yourself. part of the reason the man is doing like this is because he no get money. Abeg o...prepare yourself for pregnancy and childbirth. Those days of just getting pregnant and hoping on the Lord should end with 2019. if you don't have everything you need start in your first trimester to hustle and gather items, drugs and cash. PRAY for easy delivery but PREPARE for a difficult one. https://nairametrics.com/2019/12/15/how-to-prepare-for-a-baby-financially/queenfav: Good morning mamas. Something sad happened and I felt we all may learn from it. The guy who handles electrical jobs for us just lost his wife during childbirth. The baby survived. He is in police custody as we speak because the wife's family are saying he killed their daughter. Their marriage is less than two years old and the late lady is not up to 30 years.
. It's being said that she has earlier been diagnosed of multiple uterine fibroids. The doctor advised an Elective CS be done, that any attempt at going into labor and vagina birth may further complicate things.
. Her dear husband said no to the CS. In his words "My mother gave birth normally, my wife must do same". That's how this lady stayed till she fell into labour at 38 weeks. She wasn't even taken to the hospital where she registered for antenatal, he took her to a prayer house to deliver. He said many women testify on Sunday in church of how they came to church when they were in labour for long and baby came out easily while in the church.
.
That's how the women there (who are not even local midwives) were trying to force her to push. It wasn't long before she started bleeding badly. It was when they saw that she was dieing, that they rushed her to hospital. Then it was already too late, the young lady died on her way to hospital. The same CS they rejected was what was done to bring out the child because they could still detect a heartbeat.
. All this was happening and the man didn't call any of the wife's family to let them know. The call he made was to tell them about how their child or sister is in d mortuary. The lady's brother's used police to go pick him up after serious beating.
. . I am still so pissed because in my opinion, the lady killed herself. As a human being and one in a delicate condition as pregnancy, you have to choose you. Even if that's how the marriage will scatter, so be it.
A doctor had already told u the risks involved with normal delivery based on the medical issues u have, yet she allowed a mere man in the name of husband use her life to gamble. The same man that will marry a fresh and finer woman after one year or less if anything happens to you?
. . Why I am bringing this here is so that we can all draw sense from it. It's your life, your body, your pregnancy. Don't allow love blind our common sense or allow wedding ring and Mrs title remove our individuality. Men are very good at choosing themselves, we should do same especially when it concerns your health in pregnancy . If anything happens (God forbid) you will bear the pains. Every pregnancy is to be cherished. Don't use your life and your unborn child to gamble. If you are not ok with anything, stand your ground. Don't keep delicate issues away from your family. Na here u jam the man, your family remains your family. If a man is having the same stance as the dead lady's husband, call a family meeting and let your people know. If he doesn't pay the medical bills, your family and friends can pay. In all, your life is more important. Nobody dies and is buried with their husband or wife. We came to this world alone nd will leave alone. . . That lady would have been alive today if she insisted on CS like her doctor advised. Her husband will be released from cell, after 3-5 months, he would have gotten another babe. That's if he can wait that long. Wheras someone allowed herself to be killed because she wanted to obey her husband. What story would they tell that innocent child tomoro? Because I trust the lady's family to let thr child know the fathers part in the mothers untimely death! . . Am not saying don't obey your husbands, but let's apply wisdom to being married. Think about your parents who have labored over you before you got married, think about your life and all you are yet to achieve. Mrs title is just a small part of life. Don't allow the zeal to stay married by all means make you docile to the point where a man will be the one telling u to do things that are not going to be ok for your health or things that are against doctors instructions. . . I have seen women having sezzz 3 weeks after delivery, when doctors advise u wait 6 weeks. Why? To please their husband. Some take in 4 months after delivery because oga told them not to do family planning, and they relaxed. In the end, you the woman will suffer the consequences. Let's all be wise and choose ourselves and well being in times when it's necessary. I am so angry because the lady that died is someone I know. Maybe her crime in life was loving a man too much to the point of blind submission! Not all the times your husband will mean well for you. It may be out of ignorance as to the severity of the issue, that's when u let him know what's at stake and insist on doing the right thing. If he disagrees, pack a few things and go to your parents house till you are OK. It's better than saying "yes sir, yes my husband" to everything, until you say yes to what will lead you to early death all because you want to please your husband. |

Buy him a intimacy gadget and use it on him for the meanwhile. Yes its not a regular advice but it does 2 things. One helps him find relief and 2 makes it an activity 2 of you partake in so that its not like he is masturbating on his own. Try and also consider giving him a hand job. The intimacy of the process could also be a stress reliever for you Please regiter for antenatal. You don't need his permission to do so. On this I advice you stand your ground. hapiness44: Experienced Mamas please help me o.
I just had another small quarrel with hubby over my sudden low sex drive.
I am in week 11 and recently, I am too irritated to even allow sex, ' unfortunately' for me, boo still feels like during it almost everyday
On Saturday, we had sex, and I noticed bleeding ( not the first time, but this was very pronounced), pinkish intially and brownish later. I told him I need to start antenatal to be sure that it's ok to continue but he does not want to hear any of it.
This evening, ( I came home early from work was having serious side headache)he initiated it again and with all my body language he knew I was not in the mood. Right now he is angry and I actually feel for him. I have tried to read materials online to him but he obviously feels deprived.
How do I handle this house?.. We are just 6 months into marriage |

Oluwatise2016: Hey guys,
It’s obvious this person is not very enlightened and there is no need to bash her. We are all here to learn.
Dear please forget about concealing your pregnancy. If you have your visa, even if you did not tell the visa officer at the time of your application that you were pregnant or were not even pregnant when you got the visa, there are ways to go about it.
Please when you arrive at whatever port of entry you are landing at first. Let the visa officer know that you are here to have your baby and explain the reasons why. It is not illegal to have your baby in the US.
Also if possible try not to accept any discounts from hospitals and make sure that your bill is totaling at least $10k. Most of all please DO NOT use medicaid or any government assisted program. Also try to read this thread from around January this year even if you can’t read entire thing.
Good luck with your plans I agree with you but the bashing probably stems from the fact that we have seen people like this online and offline. She has probably read the last 50 pages of the thread and knows all of the above. This question is coming from the mindset of how can I beat the system and have my child. Why would anyone want to beat the system. its either because they plan to not pay or use government assisted programs to birth. Travelling at 5 months when you don't have complications is not a normal occurrence. Then she will come back and when next she goes for an interview will pretend she has never given birth in the USA before. We know that the consulate monitors this thread, when they see this kind of posts it reinforces the stereotypes they have about us and puts the rest of us who are trying to do the right thing at a disadvantage. |

Zarahsyed: Hi everyone, I want to travel when I'm 5 months due and not showing any pregnancy. I want to know if i will automatically get a 6 months stay ? I'm going to mention I'm on vacation.
Regards. We don't encourage this kind of behaviour of trying to beat the system. Even if you think you have succeeded the next time you go for visa interview it will shock you that they will know you delivered. After all what are you spending 6 months in the US doing when you are not ill. You are not the first person to think like this and the others who have done this have had it end in tears. |

it used to be possible for someone in Nigeria to pay for you. has that option been taken out too. and i wonder why it has to be a US bank card. they should show our naija banks some love na mercifull: Hello everyone, For those that are still in the US with their newborn LO. Congratulations. This information is for you. After you apply for visa on arrival for your child, you have to go to Nigeria immigration service portal and pay online for the VOA.Cash payment is no longer accepted. You have to generate an application ID and a reference number which you can then use for online payment and then print your receipt. You pay with a US bank card. When you get to Nigeria, you will have to present your VOA approval letter, evidence of payment and LO passport. If you don't pay online before u get to the airport in Nigeria, then you have to go to a cyber cafe in the airport and generate the reference no for 5k or use your phone if u have data. Then pray that your card payments should not be declined, else they will hold your LO passport and u have to go back to the airport another day to make payment and collect the passport. The portal is portal.immigration.gov.ng Then go to visa on arrival and fill your LO name as applicant. Please kindly ask your questions on the forum if you have any. Thanks |

please can you post a copy of the itemised bill. pls you can cross out the private details. FTM here and i have been seeing people talk about it but i dont know what it looks like asake85: Hello house, I have been looking forward to sharing this story as I have noticed everyone has been dull and panicking. My husband and I had our 221g interview this Saturday -10 Nov and we were granted our visas.
………… A bit of background.
In 2016, we got visas. In that interview, we stated our intention to birth our child. Fast forward 2018 we put in our passport for drop box in September but were invited for a 221g interview.
The first date we saw was in March 2019, then one fateful day, I checked the portal again and the closest date we got was Jan 21 which we selected immediately. Few days later we got a notification that the interview has been rescheduled to Jan 11 because Jan 21 was a public holiday in the US. Then again one faithful night we got another email that we had been rescheduled again to Nov 10 which was a shock as it fell on a Saturday.
On the date of the interview, my husband and I were both shocked to see the massive crowd at the embassy for our 8.30 appointment. The whole room was so crowded. When it was our turn a young lady probably in her early 20ties interviewed us.
VO: Hello good morning with a big smile, (she collects our passport and scans) US: We are fine thank you!
VO: she responds after scanning our passports “so let’s see why you are asked to come for an interview- you had a baby in 2016, good thing you declared your intentions, so we just want to see your receipts to verify you made all your payments”
I already arranged all our receipts with zero balance receipt, I also got my hospital to give me a letter stating that I didn’t take any form of insurance or medic-aid.
I passed on the receipts to her.
VO: How much did you pay? US: 10k for the birth and 130/per pre-natal visits, 241/sonogram
VO: do you have your itemized bill?
My husband and I were sceptical on taking the itemised bill along as we read here that some VO typically pick issues upon sighting itemised bill, but we still took it along.
DW: Yes! then I presented the itemised bill and she confirmed our zero balance on the itemised bill.
She then asked general questions on what we filled in our application as I have changed jobs since 2016 but still the same field.
VO: Will you be using medical serviced during your visit? US: No! we will not be using medical services cos I am not pregnant at the moment (which is the truth)
(After she informed us that we’d be granted visa renewals, I wanted to ask, “what if I get pregnant before my visa expires, can I use this visa”. I just kept quiet before she will change her mind or start asking me for my great grandmother’s birth certificate……. LOL)
My observation:
All through our 1hr stay in the room;
1. A lot of people were refused, and a lot of people were granted 2. Majority of the people around me were for 221g interview or given birth or their spouse have given birth in the US. 3. At some point, I overheard one VO asking; • “Do you have an idea how much it cost to birth in US?”, I guess the applicant stated a very low price that she paid. • I also heard one VO stating that a particular Dr in Houston is on their investigation list for Medicare. He typically would go back to government for payments after charging patients low. The VO went ahead to request that the applicant should present her itemised bill. (I MIGHT HAVE HEARD WRONGLY)
Summarily, my advise to anyone intending to birth in America are 1. Be TRUTHFUL and pray for the grace of God and favour…. 2. Be organised, arrange and label all your documents properly. 3. Stay away from cheap hospitals. 4. The VO while interviewing us checked a paper she pasted on her wall after I told her how much I paid. Then she nodded like that was a fair enough price.(MY OBSERVATION MIGHT BE WRONG) |

finally found this post. just to prove to you that some of us search before asking i am currently waiting to born and i will be using WHMC. Let me start gathering my documents now before i hear stories that touch chibertha: Good day house @Omodadi2 sorry.
In 2015 Feb I put to birth in Houston at WHMC paid all my bills as per self pay $4000 for me and $362 for baby both well baby well mama 3 days stay. I paid everything as per the offer before leaving the hospital. Got my Zero balance letter and receipts for both accounts. Then my visa expired in May 2015 and I renewed it in October 2015 via drop box. Now went to renew Jan 2018 via drop box but passport returned and I am advised to schedule an interview ( yet to do that) So I started arranging all necessary document's "every every " thinking i am good to go, untill a member of the house posted her transcript on how she was denied visa at her follow up interview because of itemized bill. She came to see what it looked like and I put up what I thought it was only for me to see the real thing. Obviously I knew I didn't have it. So I called the hospital to send mine the reception referred me to hospital patients account services (which is in Georgia) trust me I called sharp sharp , only to be told that my sons account has $4230 debt on it. Wow I screamed no way and asked why and how but the guy just said it's been there since 3 years. I went gagas and called the main hospital line again requesting to speak to a financial counsellor (as I could not get hold of the person that signed and issued my initial letter) I was again given a number for the person. I called and it went into voice mail and was given her email. I sent her a mail stating my findings and my need also attaching a copy of my Zero balance. However I kept calling till she picked. My God she was so apologetic saying the person whose job it was to strick it off did no do so. That she would send me updated receipts and zero balance letter and follow up till the $4230 on my sons account is struck off. She has sent the above but no itemized bill that I would have to wait for a week before it comes. As for the follow up interview I will not schedule until I get an all clear from the said account.
I believe a lot of us can learn from this I will also keep you posted to the end. Sorry for the very long post. Love you all. |
