musKeeto: Hi babestell.how far? What do atheist do on friday evening? |
modestdude: Thanks dear. I understand some people have dead conscience and take pride in sin. God have mercy on them and on us all. I'm still heretheir consciences aren't dead. Its just that they don't see it the way you and I do. Please let us keep an open mind to understand the other person's point of view. Lets change this topic. Why did a fine man like you not finish priesthood training? ![]() |
modestdude: Mr. Barrister, you don't find a comment that opens up old wounds by way of mockery (dieing biafran children) an inflammatory tribalistic comment? How low can man go to bend the truth? Does it make sense to you that we feel the pains of that war till now? We lost brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers. My father still has a bullet buried in his left thigh till date from that war, and you are here rushing to defend another man's folly.People see things differently, clearly some peeps see no offence with the statement. But thats just the way they perceive it. However please do not stop coming around over this. Doesn't make sense, we all make mistakes and he has hidden the comment. |
FrancisTony: Igbotic is more like Igbosian e.g if something has an Igbo feature(igbotic accent etc).No its not. Igbotic used in your context is derogatory. And offensive to some people especially as you tried to use it to drive home a statement that was false. The issue is that at first glance your comment offends and cuts deeply, especially as it had no bearing whatsoever on the topic at hand. But its ok now. God bless you |
striktlymi: Not related! He said the word Igbotic and he is saying that since He is Igbo he is allowed to say it, where normally if a non-Igbo says it he/she would be termed tribalistic. Am Igbo and the context and tone in which that word was used in his sentence is tribalistic to me "As in only igbotic people (commonly used derogatory term for backward igbo people) use such a water flask. In other words the water flask is a common, razz, local, dirty, fake, Aba made product!!!!! That is what that sentence says to me |
its like the term "Nigger" If a Caucasian says it, it is seen as a derogatory term term. But African Americans say it to each all that all the time, However that doesn't make it any less derogatory or rude. And other Black Americans have the right to call them out when they use it. Humility is a virtue |
FrancisTony: Like I said, I never made a tribalist comment.Thank you for editing your post. That was an act of humility. I know it must have been a great struggle for you to take it down, but then imagine what Our Saviour went through in the Garden of Gethsemane But I hope you took away 2 lessons 1) What you noticed was very false. You were the first to comment and you put across your observation but at least 7 people came forward to prove you wrong, Some even referenced their schools just to prove you wrong. The lessons here is that KEEP AN OPEN MIND!!!! If you had, you would have phrased your answer differently 2) Everyone that e-quarreled with you did so because you used the word "igbotic", just one word out of many chai!!!. When you enter school and later on start working learn this "One action/word carelessly said can ruin everything" I have experienced it before when just one simple action got me violently flogged, disgraced and then de-boarded from secondary school. God bless you |
striktlymi I beg to disagree. His first statement can be said to be tribalistic. please reference modestdude's post above me. I totally agree with his submission on why the post is tribalistic. If being real also means being rude and insensitive then maybe "being real" is not a good thing. |
I like ![]() BRING IT ON!!! I would like to see more examples of christian charity as it pertains to the world we find ourselves in today Rich4god: In view of the upcoming feast of St Vincent de Paul, members of the society of St Vincent the Paul, the Vincentian families and the entire catholic families that are devoted to the saint world wide begins today, the novena to St Vincent the Paul, which will run through to the 27th of this month, the feast day. So, as a member of the society of st vincent de paul, I will try my best to through more light on the need for charity which is the virtue the saint is being known for. Other contribution will be welcomed... Cc Italo... Pardon my typos, na nokia 3310 i dey use... |
hahahahahahahahaha ![]() You dey find their trouble shebi texazzpete: Note that this news just pertains to Android users in the US, and those that usually spring for the Flagship devices (i.e on-contract purchases at $199 or less)#TEAMNOKIA |
Peppyluv02 has raised a very serious issue that we all are faced with everyday in different sections of NL. How do we share our opinions on issues at the same time not compromise our faith. Because Nairaland is a faceless community, we are temped to say what we want with the belief that it can't be traced back to us. And sometimes those comments are definitely not compatible with the faith we profess. Has francistony account been hijacked? That what it seems to me because the statements are just mean. The current trend is for people to just get insulting purposely either to get noticed or to just derail the thread. Very disconcerting when you think you are having a normal conversation and the other person is just being rude and silly. May God help us all to be good ambassadors |
what does government consent mean? Is that the same as C of O |
Na wa o! And the cycle of corruption continues This means that there will be not bust to the housing bubbles being experienced in Abuja and Lagos anytime soon. |
cococandy: Really? Classic 50calibreLolz You said it all. BTW I think people are just making comments to get a reaction from you. Maybe its time you stop quoting them and just lay out your points. Too much attention is doing them. |
Congratulations Damerry Please make up your mind to graduate with a first class and start working towards it. i know so many Catholic peeps who graduated with first class from universities where first class was unheard of. YES you can do it. Is Our lady not your mother again. Once again congratulations |
scribble: The next thing na lesbianism ![]() |
Once again I reiterate my comment. Work hard for yourself and make your life count. Determine what is happiness for you and strive towards it. And like some posters have said keep your eyes open to the reality of true love. Tell yourself what you can or cannot be. I personally CANNOT be a main/side chick/wife. No need to exchange words or fists, thank God Nigeria is gradually approaching the point where the stigmas of divorce/singleness is losing sway. (btw I don't support divorce) Also I refuse to believe all/99% men cheat. I know a lot of men who do not cheat, men with money, power and opportunity. It isn't easy for them but they go an extra effort to stay faithful. |
Scribble's comments should reinforce the desire in every female to be a success and have some elements of self respect which is not dependent on another person The first step is to understand your own personal definition of a success. After that work towards it. |
If the OP was getting laid regularly then he won't have strength for this nonsense. Go and marry |
muffins99: A joint account is a good idea as it promotes responsibillity and accountability on both sides. There wont be any of the 'but i pay the school fees and rent and you only buy food' wahala. It is important though, to agree what percentage of your incomes will be paid into the joint account ( I don't recommend more than 80% unless you both earn very little). You should also decide whether or not you will take out an overdraft and what expenses will be funded from the account.Well said |
texazzpete: There's something hilarious about people goingSeriously I would not mind a bridge right now o!. The rainy season has washed away my road and a bridge would really help. How much are you selling it. |
SINGLE YEARS "Are you free of a wife? If so, do not go in search of one." 1 Corinthians 7:27 1st readingThose gifted to be single for the Lord do not commit sin if they marry (1 Cor 7:28). "But such people will have trials in this life, and these I should like to spare you" (1 Cor 7:28). All people have trials; so Paul must have been referring to unnecessary, additional trials. Moreover, it is sometimes good to undergo trials. However, Paul must not have been referring to "good" trials, or he would not have tried to spare anyone these trials. In summary, in the Scriptures the Lord indicates that those who marry but were called to be single will have unnecessary, additional trials, which it would have been better not to have undergone. Is the Lord trying to show those who are single the way to the easiest, most comfortable life? No, He is trying to keep singles as free as possible to help them devote themselves entirely to Him (1 Cor 7:35). Some people in the Body of Christ need to be available for anything at any time to further God's kingdom. They must not be tied down by unnecessary trials. The exceptional freedom and availability of those single for the Lord is not for their ease and comfort; rather, it is for the good of the Body of Christ. "The time is short" (1 Cor 7:29), and the times are stressful (1 Cor 7:26). Those of you called to the single life, the Body of Christ needs your gift now more than ever. Be single for the Lord and His kingdom. Culled from Laudate app |

MissMeiya: CityNG, and you know what the worst part of it is about this "technology is evil" argument? I have a set of young cousins here in the US, and they are SO adapt at using technology, SO much more than I was, and I thought I got started pretty early. There have educational apps available for children to use on these tools that people are deriding as "distractions". Many of the things I still remember to this day, I learned, not at school, but from the educational games I played on my computer at home. God bless my mother for buying that computer. She absolutely insisted that her children be computer literate, and I ended up being placed in a program for gifted students. I got really lucky with my mom. Please can you share the apps and programs/educational games or links to them. I download some from the android market but I dnt mind having better dedicated ones without all those stupid adverts |
Before we start condemning, Is it possible to compare results with results over the last 10-20 years. Then we can really say whether or not students are failing. Experience shows that the same statistics can be used to tell different stories |
Rich4God Happy Birthday |
Ubenedictus: there is plenty catholic literature on it...popes thru out the 19th century spent a large time on it an another stuff called "modernism".Stimulating discussion on issues some people are not aware of may not be as fruitful as you wish. It would been nice to start of with a definition, set a context in terms of current realities and then open the floor for discussions. I had to read through all the comments before someone defined relativ in a reply. Its not a topic am familiar with but from the responses it appears to be something I should be aware of because in my quest to achieve world domination, i will run into situations where my understanding of what it entails to be a relative will help me make the right descisions |
jnrbayano: The boldI figured out that since he is violently denying priesthood. Then it must be because he os already in the alternate apostolate. |
Syncan You sound so Opus Dei-ish some times. But please keep it up. very refreshing to read. PS How do you mange being married and so holy at the same time |
Good one Syncan Me I get altar for house. And I know how many people have told me I am overdoing the Catholic thing. Me I no send. I have a crucifix on my desk in the office, my sceeen monitor is divine mercy, my ringtone is ave maria, I do all that to keep myself in the church mood always cos the things of the world are very sweet and distractive and sweet |
