Jobs/Vacancies / The Stress Interview by Babysheart(f): 2:37pm On Mar 21, 2017 |
At some point in the job seeking periods of our lives, we've been subjected to what we considered annoying and totally irrelevant interview questions. Some interviewers can ask otherwise very personal questions like "why are you single at this age?", "do you wear lacy undies?" and some might decide to reduce the temperature of the blast from the air conditioning just to crawl under your skin. It's all a ploy to engender a reaction from you. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Stress Interview. The Stress Interview- an overview The ability to cope with pressure and stress is essential in almost all walks of life. Pressure and stress are unavoidable aspects of the world we live in, so Stress interviews are usually conducted to fill a stressful job which requires constant adjustment to the new environment. The interviewer will be looking to identify if you have the ability to recognize the pressure and stress of life. They will also want to know how well you understand the effect pressure and stress and if you are good enough to be able to take them in your pace. These interviews are used to observe how the candidate reacts in a stressful situation during the job interview. The Stress interviews are typically conducted by panels or professionals with years of interviewing experience and they use an array of psychological assessments to determine how candidates react under pressure. These kinds of interviews are used to determine how people react during uncomfortable, stressful, and unexpected circumstances. A common type of stress interview tactic is to employ painful or aggressive questioning which is aimed to gauge how well you deal with aggression and fault finding behaviors. Questions are designed to test your skills and assess your ability to address issues calmly. Creating an emotionally chaotic setting puts the candidate under psychological stress to see if they will crack, remain calm, or even thrive under such pressure. The key to getting through this process is to remain calm and unemotional throughout the interview. To handle stress interview questions, don't take the bait. As best you can, shorten and simplify your answers. The interviewer will watch your reactions- your body language, facial expressions, behavior and communication. Finally, here are some common behaviors exhibited by interviewers during stress interviews: #Acting aggressive before candidates #Acting uninterested in your answers #Purposely abstaining from eye contact with you #Interrupting candidates while answering #Refusing to listen closely #Arguing with candidates #Asking uncomfortable questions #Asking similar questions to ones you've provided answers for already #Purposely delaying interviews #Starting way beyond time #Starting by lunchtime, knowing you'd be hungry by then #Asking very personal questions #Making the room too hot or too cold #Downplaying your achievements. 1 Like |
Jobs/Vacancies / Top Interview Questions Of All Time (and How To Approach Them) by Babysheart(f): 2:05pm On Mar 21, 2017 |
1. Tell me about yourself. ✔ You have to believe that a 30 second answer will have the greatest impact in the interview. ✔ Keep your answer succinct and to the point 2. Why should we hire you? ✔ Summarize your experiences ✔ Show the hiring manager that you are uniquely suited to filling this position. Be the candidate that solves their "problems". ✔ Don't answer with "why" you want the job. Answer with "why you are the perfect fit" for the job. 3. What are your strengths? ✔ This question really lets you guide the interview where you want it to go. ✔ This is your chance to relate the most remarkable success story, so take advantage. ✔ Don't name a strength that is irrelevant to the job at hand 4. What was your greatest accomplishment? ✔ Talk about an accomplishment that exhibits how you will be a perfect fit for the company and for the position you're interviewing for. Your answer to this one question will create a powerful first impression. ✔ Try and show some genuine passion when you're talking about your accomplishment. 5. "Where Do You See Yourself In 3 or 5 Years?" ✔ You do want to show that you are an ambitious person but you need to show that you don't have your "head in the clouds" and are focused on the job at hand. ✔ Stress your interest in a long-term career at the company ✔ Don't exhibit ambition to the point of seeming like this particular job is just a "brief stepping stone" for you. You need to show commitment. 6. Why did you leave (or why are you leaving) your job? ✔ If you were let go, be honest and explain the situation and own it. Explain what you learned from the experience. ✔ Words like "downsizing" and "budget cuts" and "bad economy" are good defenses if they are true and are the reasons for departure from the job ✔ Don't bash your last company or boss or anything along those lines. 7. What are your weaknesses? ✔ This is the most dreaded question of all. Handle it by minimizing your weakness and emphasizing your strengths. ✔ Show that you are aware of your weakness and what you have done to overcome it. ✔ Stay away from personal qualities and concentrate on professional traits. ✔ Don't highlight a weakness that is related to the core competency of the job 8. Why do you want to work for us? ✔ The interviewer is listening for an answer that indicates you've given this some thought and are not sending out resumes just because there is an opening. ✔ Find out the needs of the company and talk about how you're passionate about "fulfilling those needs". ✔ Show how your strengths perfectly align with the job position and company culture. |

Religion / Re: What Will Become Of Those Who Have Died Before The Birth Of Christ? by Babysheart(f): 11:17am On Mar 05, 2017 |
I have been perplexed by this and one other question since I was a kid. The Bible in Genesis 15:6 when talking about Abraham says "... his faith was counted to him as righteousness". People were holy and righteous and found favour before the earthly birth of Christ... Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, David etc. These men were judged on parameters such as Faith, Dedication, keeping of the Commandments and more. God rewarded their passion for him and they can be considered righteous. They didn't need Redemption which is the primary reason we have Christ, because there was nothing to be redeemed in them. Jesus Christ came so we can find help in our journey to please God again after falling out with Him in Eden. We could have been able to do it on our own like these patriarchs of Faith did, but it would have been very very difficult for us without Grace. So Christ offered Grace, so you won't have to pray 5 times a day. So you won't have to kill rams and cows as burnt offering in your quest to please God. So you won't rub ashes on your body and rent your robes ( tear your blouses and shirts in today's parlance). You don't need all those now. All you need is to believe in Christ as your only Saviour and live a righteous life. He picks you up when you falter. |
