Celebrities / Late Alao Akala Turned Me Into Millionaire, Gave Me N99 Million - Taye Currency by babyvoice1990(m): 3:01pm On Jan 01

Taye Currency, a popular Fuji musician from Ibadan, Oyo State, known for his unique style of music blending traditional Fuji music with hip hop and R&B, narrated his rags-to-riches story at an open event in Lagos State on December 27, 2023. He became emotional as he recounted how the Ogbomoso-born politician and former governor of Oyo State, Late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, blessed him with a whopping sum of ninety-nine million naira, instantly turning him into a comfortable millionaire in 2010.

According to Taye Currency, he said; "I want to share a story of how my life was turned around for good and I became what I am today. In 2010, I was invited, along with many others, to join the campaign trail for the late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala. The show promoter in charge of paying me for singing during the campaign wouldn't pay me on time. He would often delay my payment, sometimes by up to three days.

One fortunate day, I was in the late Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala's compound when Akala stepped out. I started screaming and shouting that I hadn't been paid for my show at the campaign and that I wouldn't be returning to perform on stage anymore.

Akala asked me to approach him and demanded an explanation for my outburst. I told him I was owed N500,000 and had not been paid yet.

Governor Akala was surprised and then called on his First Lady, Mrs. Kemi Alao Akala, instructing her to be in charge of paying me whenever I performed on stage for the rest of the campaign.

Akala then instructed that 99 million be paid to me straight away. That was how I made it.

Just like that, I was shocked. After I settled everyone, I still had 60 million Naira left."

Taye Currency’s emotional revelation at the Oshodi Day 2023 event has shed light on the pivotal moment in his life that led to his transformation from struggling artiste to a millionaire.

The man simply identified as Oluwasina Adeshina made this known on a family affairs radio programme –“Kokoro Alate” on Agidigbo 88.7fm in Ibadan.

Oluwasina noted that the pastor is the rightful owner of 4 out of the 6 children he has with his wife, adding that he has sent her packing on many occasions but refused to leave his house.

Narrating her own side of the ordeal, the woman, Alimat Adeshina, noted that she gave birth to twins twice and have a total of 6 children.

Insisting that she never gave birth to a child for the pastor, Alimat added that the pastor had written the family of her husband noting that he had at some point had affairs with her although trying to clear her out of the mess.

The then pastor of their church, Pastor Adeyele noted that the family joined his church in 2013, adding that he had affairs with her in 2014 and for the fact that the husband of the woman is good to him, he had to confess and apologise for his misdeeds.

“They gave birth to twins in 2016, and I was the one who named the children. They stopped coming to my church since around 2018 because a church was established close to them.

“I received a call in July 2022 and to my surprise, it was her husband who called telling me to come take my wife and my children.

“I called our landlord chairman and invited the husband, he noted that his wife is the one fraustrating him and they’ve sorted the grudges. He added that he married another wife last year and since she’s aware, she’s been making life a hell for him.

“In January, it got a call for an invitation from Akobo Police Station. I met the woman (Alimat) there saying that her husband had sent her parking with 6 children asking for how I could assist. I recalled the story and we were allowed to go.

“I received another call from Agidigbo Radio concerning this case again that the husband claimed that I am the father of 5 of his 6 children,” the accused pastor narrated.

Narrating his own side of the story, Oluwashina (husband) noted that his family started attending the pastor’s church in 2014 after his mother’s death.

“The case started when the pastor told me my wife reported that I don’t dress well. I accused them of extramarital affairs then and I was later told by the pastor that my wife will get pregnant and we must not abort the child.

“The pastor told us to begin a vigil together and he comes around to sleep on my bed with my wife while I sleep on the floor. The first time he came, I told my wife to come with me but insisted she’s sleeping beside the pastor.

“I caught them moaning one day while they thought I was asleep, they were having a conversation and when I confronted the pastor, he accepted but told me to save his image due to his pastoral ministry.

“He later came to my shop telling me to ensure no other person hears about the case if I want to remain alive that he would come back for his children when they clock 15.

“My wife took my case to her family house accusing me of not taking care of the children,” Oluwasina narrated

Popular fuji maestro, Saheed Osupa has openly prostrated and apologised to Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde for his offensive music directed at the governor in times past.

Osupa apologised to the governor for his previous recordings in which he had called him foul names and betrayed him. The single he released in 2020, which he nicknamed the Governor “Demakin”—someone who doesn’t honour agreements—was the most notable.

Makinde said: “No problem,” and thereafter whispered into Osupa’s right ear.

Following that, Osupa music filled the air with statements such as “Makinde has performed wonderfully well,” “Atiku is the next president,” and “Oyo residents will vote massively for Makinde and I have endorsed him.”

Apart from paying salary, the man is not doing anything, he just have a strong social media PR.

Don't be a Mumu man. I live in Ibadan. Seyi Makinde is doing a very good job in Oyo State. The news article is misleading as the N2 billion loan facility is to provide counterpart funding to complete donor-assisted projects; COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, Accelerating Nutrition Results Project in Nigeria, Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project, Better Education Service Delivery For All and UBEC/SUBEB 2021 Matching Grant. The has nothing to do with payment of salaries.

Seyi Makinde's achievements are everywhere for anyone to see. Don't be a blind Bartimaeus

Politics / Oyo Govt Drags EFCC To Court Over Unlawful Harassment Of State Officials by babyvoice1990(m): 4:46pm On Mar 01, 2022

Following the Arrest of the Oyo state Accountant General, Alhaji Gafar Bello over the weekend by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and his subsequent release on Monday, the Oyo state government through the office of the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun has released a statement condemning the actions of the anti-graft agency as court adjourns hearing of case till March 9.

Although the case had been scheduled for hearing Today, March 1st 2022, the EFCC operations still went ahead to arrest the accountant-general despite retrains from court to restrain all forms of intimidation.

The full statement reads:

“The Oyo State Government is using this medium to update the good people of Oyo State regarding the arrest, questioning and detention of the Oyo State Accountant General on Friday, February 25, 2022, and subsequent release on Monday, February 28, 2022. The continued harassment and intimidation of the Accountant General and other officials of the state government by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is totally unconstitutional and unacceptable and is being contested in a court of competent jurisdiction.

The EFCC and its officials have, since last year been mounting pressure on Oyo State and its officials to provide documents regarding disbursements and expenditure of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, Contingencies Fund and Security Vote lawfully approved and passed into Appropriation Law of Oyo State by the Oyo State House of Assembly. This is despite the fact that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has decided in a long line of cases that the EFCC lacks the powers to prosecute issues that are not corruption cases.
We would like to put it on record that by virtue of Section 128 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, unless and until the Oyo State House of Assembly reports or exposes any corruption, inefficiency or waste in the execution or administration of laws within its legislative competence and in the disbursement or administration of funds appropriated by it to the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Commissioner for Finance, Section 6 (h) of the EFCC Establishment Act 2004 (as amended) cannot be triggered.

The Oyo State House of Assembly has not made any such reports and thus the actions so far by the EFCC and the EFCC Chairman are unconstitutional and ultra-vires.

In line with this conviction, the Oyo State Government had approached the Federal High Court, in the Ibadan Judicial Division on February 8, 2022, for declaratory reliefs and to among other things, issue an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Defendants (1. Attorney General of the Federation; 2. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission; 3. President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria and 4. The Chairman EFCC) their functionaries or agencies or whosoever from interfering with the activities of any government officials in Oyo State (i.e. any public officer or functionary or officer or servant of the government of Oyo State) in the exercise of powers purported to be conferred by or under the provisions of the EFCC Act, 2004 with relation to the expenditure and or spending of the Oyo State Government or security votes as vested in the Governor of Oyo State.

The EFCC had brazenly refused service of the processes at the Abuja Head Office for reasons unknown to the law but as of today, March 1, 2022, at the hearing in Ibadan, Hon Justice N. Agomoh directed the EFCC to accept service of the Oyo State Government originating processes and pending applications in the full glare of the Court. The Trial Judge also ordered that all forms of arrest and intimidation by the EFCC should cease. The case has been adjourned to the March 9, 2022 for the hearing of all applications.

The arrest of the Oyo State Accountant General on Friday, February 25, 2022, was a desperate and malicious attempt at thwarting a constitutional process that had already been instituted at the Federal High Court, Ibadan, with a hearing date of Monday, March 1, 2022.

The Government of Oyo State refuses to be intimidated, cowed or distracted from its one goal of providing good governance. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, remains committed to fidelity, accountability, integrity, transparency and honesty which has been the hallmark of this administration since its inception on May 29, 2019 and urges the good people of Oyo State to remain undeterred as this is just another in the series of hurdles that they and indeed all right-thinking Nigerians as a whole must cross in their determination to rescue Nigeria”.

Politics / Governor Makinde Attends Wedding Of Deputy Governor’s Daughter [photos] by babyvoice1990(m): 6:07am On Dec 05, 2021

Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has maintained that couples must have joint dreams in order to make a success of their marriage.

He stated that for peace, love and harmony to exist in the home, husbands and wives would have to put individual dreams aside.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Governor Makinde stated this on Saturday, when he attended the wedding of the daughter of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, in Ibadan.

The governor, while congratulating the parents of the new couple, said the marital journey is never an easy one but one that both parties would need to work together to build.

He said: “I want to congratulate the parents of the couple, the Afolabis and Engineer and Professor Olaniyan. I congratulate you all.

“It is just one simple advice I have for the couple. What the Holy Bible says is that you will leave your parents, come together and you will become one. So, decisions have to be taken jointly.

“I have been in this business for about 23 years and I can tell you that it is not an easy business. You need to put the dreams of each other aside and have a joint dream, and the joint dream is what will bring peace, harmony and development into the union.

“So, on behalf of all of us, the government, and the people of Oyo State, I want to wish you a happy married life. The union shall be fruitful and filled with a lot of goodness.”

Celebrities / Popular Ibadan-born Comedian, Woli Agba Clears Air Over Meeting With VP Osinbajo by babyvoice1990(m): 6:25pm On Nov 06, 2021

In a bid to calm the nerves of his fans, Ibadan-born content creator, Ayo Ajewole popularly known as Woli Agba, has revealed that he did not collect any money from his visit to the presidential villa.

He further apologised for his earlier comment where he rudely asked why social media users reasoned like “programmed robots”.

Ajewole reiterated that the visit was an opportunity to present the grievances of the youths especially on matters bordering on police brutality, Twitter ban amongst others as against the allegation of some Nigerians that they were there to serve their ‘selfish’ interests and not that of the public.

In his Facebook post tagged, “Direct Answers to Ongoing issues”, Wooli Agba stated below:

I did not collect a dime on this trip.
The motive behind my visit to the villa has nothing to do with an envelope and none was received by me.
Though the reason for our visit to the villa was for NSIA, yet we seized the opportunity to first present the grievances of we, the youth- police brutality, Twitter ban among others, while we hope for a positive change from the government.
The clause “programmed robot” in one of my comments was a misconception and I sincerely apologise for that.
I am a youth and a member of the #Sorosokegeneration and I am unwilling to be manipulated against what we all stand for.
I preach good values, morals, respect and integrity (evident in my works).

Meanwhile on Wednesday, skit makers including Woli Agba, Taaooma, Josh2funny, Yemi Elesho and Mr Hyenana among others, visited Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa, Abuja and this sparked diverse reactions from Nigerians on social media.

Similarly, Instagram comedian, Taaooma in a lengthy post, has also apologised for her comment regarding her lastest visit to Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, explaining that her gadgets were temporarily taken from her and other comedians who visited the vice president, thereby, preventing her from recording her conversation with the vice president.

The delegation, which came under the aegis of the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards (NSIA), was led by its promoter, Bimbo Daramola.

Those on the delegation were Maryam Apaokagi popularly known as Taooma; Josh Alfred (Josh2funny); Ayo Ajewole (Woli Agba); Adebamiro Adeyanju (Mr Hyenana) and Adeoye Adeyemi Elesho (Yemi Elesho).

Politics / Despite Division, Crisis, Omodewu Emerges As Oyo APC Chairman by babyvoice1990(m): 11:25am On Oct 31, 2021

Isaac Omodewu, a former Commissioner under the last administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State has emerged the consensus Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Omodewu emerged through consensus arrangement at the state congress held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday after some prominent party leaders in the party boycotted the event.

The congress was presided over by the Chairman of the State Congress Committee led by Gambo Lawan.

The congress had earlier been postponed more than two times over alleged irregularities and falsification of the delegates’ list.

You would recall that Chief Akin Oke, the State Chairman of the party, had on Friday in a statement, raised alarm that the delegates’ list had been falsified.

Among those, who attended the congress that produced Omodewu as the chairman, were former Gov. Adebayo Alao-Akala; Sen. Teslim Folarin (APC-Oyo Central); Asimiyu Alarape, a former Speaker of the State Assembly and some serving members of the State Assembly.

Omodewu, in his acceptance speech, said that the congress signalled the beginning of another chapter of the party in the state.

“I belong to no one, I belong to all members of our great party. My main task is to unite all tendencies within the party and lead APC to victory in 2023 general elections and beyond,” he said.

Meanwhile, some leaders the party had earlier on Saturday at a news conference held at Premier Hotel, Ibadan, described the congress as “a mere birthday celebration” , calling for its suspension.

The leaders were calling for the suspension of the congress over alleged falsification of the delegates’ list.

Sen. Ayoade Adeseun, who spoke on behalf of the leaders, appealed to the national leadership of the party to delay the state congress till when the authentic delegates’ list was provided.Adeseun, flanked by other leaders, alleged that a serving senator and former governor were responsible for the falsification of the delegates’ list.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has dragged a Facebook user to court over a defamatory post.

The Facebook user, Ismaila Ashipa, had on the 5th of October taken to his Facebook account to accuse the Governor of wrongfully sacking a member of the Shooting Stars Sports Club, Mr Abubakar Adeyemi and tagged him “vindictive GSM”.

His words, “one of the skillful footballers who got 3SC promoted to the Premier Division recently, Mr Abubakre Adeyemi, defensive midfielder with jersey number 4, has been sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde.”

Meanwhile, the 3SC management, swiftly debunked the rumour, stressing that no player of the club has been sacked, even as the club confirmed that the player in question collected his September salary, alongside other players on Tuesday, the same day the story of his purported sack was peddled.

However, Governor Seyi Makinde represented by his legal counsel, Kunle Kalejaye, SAN, has dragged the rumour peddler to court.

Crime / Police DPO Shoots Amotekun Officer For Allegedly Arresting Fulani Herdsman by babyvoice1990(m): 7:54pm On Feb 12, 2021

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ile-Igbon Division, Surulere Local Government Area of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, Adepoju Ayodeji, has earlier today, reportedly shot an operative of Amotekun for arresting Fulani herdsmen who allegedly destroyed a cassava farm.

According to the Amotekun commandant in the state, Col. Olayanju Olayinka (retd.), the operatives received a distress call from farmers to come and arrest some Fulani herdsmen who had destroyed their farms.

On getting to the farm, they apprehended the BORORO that was involved in the situation and took them to the police station to handed them over to them.

However, the situation changed when the Amotekun operatives got to the police station as the DPO ordered the arrest of the operatives who brought in the Fulani herdsman.

When the leaders of the Amotekun group, led by Olatunji Mayowa and Jenyo Isiaka got to the station to secure the release of the arrested Amotekun personnel, the DPO said the Amotekun operatives had no business in arresting anybody.

According to the Colonel, while one of the Amotekun operatives was speaking with the police officer on duty at the station, the DPO came out of his office, shot at them, and chased them away.

He said, “As one of the leaders of the Amotekun was discussing with the police station guard, the DPO rushed out from his office, snatched an AK 47 rifle from one of his officers, and sprayed the Amotekun operatives with bullets.

“One of the men of Amotekun, Job Adewale, was hit at close range in the right leg and the bullet also broke his right ribs. The DPO reloaded the rifle and released more gunshots at other personnel while they were trying to carry the wounded Adewale.”
